Title: Official fluff for Pirate Army book/list
Chris - January 6, 2006 05:27 PM (GMT)
The Orcs of Hells Teef are different to the ones in the Old World in many ways. One of the most obvius is that they actually may build buildings and ships which may last, and that they have a form of money system. One piece of Gold(the biger the more worth they are), are worth 2 grogs, 2 grogs are worth 1/50 of a ship(but that may vary with the size and cannons of the ship). Were normal Orcs prefer to attack the enemy up close with choppas, many pirate orcs prefer to use blackpowder against the enemy(that is one of the reasons that Gunna-Bosses are so important). But still many Pirate Orcs prefer to use the good old choppa, though. The body of the Pirate Orcs is identical to the normal orcs(they usually have a pistol tucked somewhere in their clothes, though), but many them have more flamboyant clothes than the ones in the Old World. They also have some different words in their language(matey and arr are some examples).
One of the other, is that an orc may be respected for their knowledge(most often the Brewa-Bosses and Gunna-Bosses). One of the things that a Pirate Orc may do almost anything to get is grog, and it is most often to find a crew of a succesfull raid in on of the many grog-shops in Hells Teef. Therefore the Brewa-Bosses are respected(no brewa-bosses, no grog), and they usually have a lot of gold.
The goblins are filling almost the same job as the ones in the Old World, but a goblin who are cunning or smart enough may become a Goblin Merchant or a Gunna-Boss. The goblin merchants are filling an important role in the Pirate Orc sosiety, that they may keep money to buy parts for the ships and supplies(without just but grog). The Gunna-Bosses fill an equal important role, they may repair war-machines(without that it blows up the first time it is fired) and the most smart may even invent something.
At the top are the Adm`ruls and Kommodore`s, which may command two or three ships(but Kommodore`s usually have one). The ships of Pirate Orcs are very different to the ones the Empire and other nations use, namely that a orc Adm`rul or Kommodore may stuck it together with other ships. So the ships of Pirate Orcs may be parts of two, three or more ships.
What about that?
Chris
Red Skullz - January 6, 2006 07:20 PM (GMT)
It`s a good start, but I think focusing on these orcs "obsession" with gunpowder is important. So can you angle it a bit more towards that? That some of the orc pirates almost shun combat cause they think shooting the enemy into small bits is even more fun than bashing them with a choppa. And that`s the reason for swivel gunners, bombas and gunna bosses - and of course the use of pistols and handguns.
talast,
Red
edit: so can I make you an official fluff writer for this then Chris?
Chris - January 6, 2006 08:54 PM (GMT)
I added something about that many Pirate Orcs prefer Black powder weapons.

Yes.
Garbag - January 6, 2006 09:29 PM (GMT)
How come your incharge of the pirates Skulls the last time I checked Snottie was doing it
Red Skullz - January 6, 2006 11:59 PM (GMT)
Garbag: I thought that Kurgan was in charge actually, only yesterday I heard that Snotstaff started it all. But I wouldn`t say I`m in charge, more of an organizer you can call me - just trying to help the best I can :D
Chris: Yes now it`s really starting to get somewhere, I like it a lot :D Perhaps something on how orc pirates are more flamboyant regarding clothing and such would be nice to add? What do you think?
Krusty - January 7, 2006 01:56 AM (GMT)
Well, give me some time and i'll whip up all the fluff you want! :D
Krusty
Red Skullz - January 7, 2006 08:34 AM (GMT)
That`s great Krusty :D
If you just PM Kurgan about it, if not we may doublebook something ;)

Added something about that. Or are it that should Krusty write about the sosial structure of pirate orcs?
Chris
Red Skullz - January 7, 2006 09:40 AM (GMT)
Krusty has offered to help, but as I said to him I think he should hear in with our fluff editor (Kurgan) on what to write about.
As far as I can see on the social structure it looks great, some typos and stuff but hey I ain`t perfect either (us norwegians  ). Can you break the text up a bit that would be nice and more easy to read

Can you look over what we got for the different unit types? Maybe we can do something more there. Especially the characters I think.

Post it here I think, and yes making fluff for those that we don`t have anything on.

| Post it here I think, and yes making fluff for those that we don`t have anything on. |
Here are something for the Core choises that dont have fluff jet:
Pirate Orc Deck Handz
These are the most common of the Orc pirates, often forming the bulk of a ship crew. But these are not to be underestimated though, sinse a full grown deck hand may easily survive a great deal of damage. They live mosttly in small huts in ToortooGork and Hog`s Port when they arent sailing, but there are also small town`s around the coast. The weaponry are mostly choppas and handguns pillaged and looted from Empire ships, and they usually have some sort of armour. Every Deck Hand likes grog, but sometimes a unit drinks a great deal before a battle, mostly they just want a good grog before the battle, but some beers actually helps the Orcs in combat.
Pirate Orc Boardin` Boyz
These are the most skilled and tough deck handz, they are normally given the best equipment(and the best grog). As the name says, they are usually the first to board the enemy vessel in combat, and they are good at it(if they dont fight over who should go first). The bodys are usually filled with scars and some of them have los a arm or leg in combat, they replases the with cruel hooks and tree-legs. Also, on land they are forming into bands, and tell the tales of their former combats(or at least what they say which happened).
Savage Orcs
These are natives from the small islands around Hells Teef, and may be "pursued" to join departed Pirate Orc Ship. They usually are kep safe uder the deck, and only released when they should board or make landfall(because that they may attack the crew if they are released). In battle, the Pirate Orcs send them right into the fray, and they arent really expecting them to survive. But if they do survive, the Pirate Orcs takes them to the next battle, and sometimes they leave them on land.
Kabin Grotz
The Kabin Grotz(or Pirate Goblins, as they are also known as), are small, cowardly and not of the most trustworthy, or in other words, goblins. On the ship they are mostly assigned jobs like deck-cleaners and war-machine-testers, but what the lack in effectiveness they ore than make up for in pure numbers. They also usully take comfort in being around Orcs in battle, and are known to actually do something more or less brave, if there are orcs around. But there are also ships and fleets of pure goblins, they are usually giving the worst jobs to the smallest and weakest in their numbers.
What about this?
Chris

WOW! Where do you take it from, I`m mighty impressed by the sheer speed you deliver excellent fluff Chris!

Thanks. And here are something for the Special Choises which dont have fluff:
Pirate Orc Swivel Gunners
The swivel gunners are some of the more rare Pirate Orcs, they are forming small units(usually drinking mates) ut that arent stopping them from a good sqabble, though. The swivel gun itself fires a great deal of shoots but arent firing very long, and it is hard to re-load one. Sometimes the sviwel gun backfire, and may leave the Orc with a big hole in its guts. But the tough skin are mostly protecting them, and they have a small sort of armour(it arent protecting them from backfires though). Sometimes they are forming a unit which have no ranks, making it easier for them to run behind enemy lines. They are also sometimes joined by a Gunna-Boss, and are then assigned to protect a war-machine.
Rock Lobba
The Pirate Orcs are also using the rock lobba, as the normal orcs. It more or less looks like a catapult, but it also have been "orcified". But the Pirate Orcs are also using it at ships, and they are known to eing capable of firing other things if they are drunk(f they fire the rog supplies, they will meet a weat grave at the bottom of the sea). So the gobbos who are controlling the rock lobbas(and the bullies) are often relatively sober in the battle. But when they goes out of rocks, they have been known to throw other things(crates, wood and things like that), but never grog.
Harpoon Chukka
A harpoon chukka is something the Pirate Orcs use against squig-sharks and squig-fings, but they are also using it against large blocks of enemy troops. Because it is capable of rendering trough a great deal of ranks, before it stoops. There are many variants of how a Harpoon Chukka should look like, but the effect stays the same. They are also sometimes taken in the sides of a ship, it is cheaper than a cannon so that meens more grog. But they lack the damage a cannon can cause, so most Adm`ruls and Kommodores prefer the use of cannons.
Long Gunz
The long gunz are the cannon that are most commonly used, because it is lighter and cheaper. They are used at the sides of Pirate Orc ships, they may do a great deal of damage on enemy ships, if used properly. But the goblins who are crewing the cannon are known to use far to much backpowder sometimes. These are also something a Gunna-Boss apprentice first learns to build, but those that the apprentices have maked are far more unreliable.
What about this?
Chris
Red Skullz - January 7, 2006 01:48 PM (GMT)
This is great material and a very good start for the fluff on each of our unit types. for those units that doesn`t exist in the Warhammer world (mergoblins etc) we could probably give some vague description on how they look like.
Chris - January 7, 2006 01:52 PM (GMT)
Should i trie making the fluff more detailed and longer?
Chris
Krusty - January 7, 2006 02:25 PM (GMT)
Damn Chris, you write fast!
I was halfway trough typing up all that stuff you just did... -_-
Shall I post mine, or are we happy with Chris'?
Krusty
(PS. Or, I could go over Chris' and correct all of the grammar and typo's etc.)
Red Skullz - January 7, 2006 02:56 PM (GMT)
do the PS part ;)
If you have anything to add do it and we`ll see.
Chris - January 7, 2006 03:13 PM (GMT)
What about this?
Pirate Giant
It arent usuall for a giant to have the inteligence get on board on ships, but some few are intelligent enough(so that they dont begin jumping up and down on the deck or takes the mast of to scratch his back for example). The giants who accompany Pirate Orcs are big, smells terribly and copy the Pirate Orcs, so they have pirate hats, hooks, eyepatches(some of them dont even need them) and things like that. They are a terribly foe on the battle field(as any giant), and may easily rip asunder a whole regiment of troops. They are living in Hells Teef, as the Pirate Orcs, but usually are living away from Hogs Port and the other minor settlements(but there are some few giants who live there). The diet are mostly consisting of Squigs, Gobbos who werent fast enough, the occasional orc and somme of the biggest even eats trolls. They are high in society of Pirate Orcs(because no-one have the guts to say something else, if they aren far away with a big gun), and are respected(and laughed at when they fall down a pit).
Chris
Red Skullz - January 7, 2006 03:38 PM (GMT)
You`re a machine :D
I don`t know what else to say.
Krusty perhaps you could give this an overhaul, you know typos and stuff.
Chris - January 7, 2006 03:44 PM (GMT)
Are it anything more i should write fluff about?
Chris
Red Skullz - January 7, 2006 03:46 PM (GMT)
Perhaps it would be cool to have some sort of prelude to the pirate society/culture thing - like when did orc pirates appear and so on.
What do you think about that?

What about something like this:
No-one knows exactly when Pirate Orcs first began to settle in Hells Teef, but the Pirate`s knows why.
On a stormy night, some Orcs, Goblins and Snotlings had stole an Elven Ship. But they could`nt controll the ship, they were finnaly driven to shore on the island now known as Hells Teef. The first needed food, nd sended some snotlings out in the forest to find it, but they never returned. But that could`nt scare the orcs, so they marched into the jungle. They found a lot of beasts, everything from blood-sucking flies to huge squig-gorillas. They captured some squigs and marched towards the shore again, there they maked huts out of wood from the jungle, and called the place "ToortooGork".
When the numbers had grown so that ToortooGork was completely overruned. The Warbosses sended out a new expedition, but that was more to just being rid of some of the more annoying rather than actually know about the surrounding lands. But the Warosses were surprised that the expedition maked it back(but the size were halved), and they told of other shores and a huge squig-gorilla. Many young big bosses maked new towns in these coasts(the most famous are Hogs Port).
Some years followed, until a orc founded out that if you mix different ingredients, you get grog. It spread to the other towns and soon all orcs on Hells Teef had heard about it. Some other orcs also learned how to make grog, and those were the first Brewa-Bosses. About at the same time, the orcs in Hogs Port discovered how to construct ships. Those news also spread, and the other towns also learned how. This was the start of how the Orcs of Hells Teef get to be known as Pirates.
It was at this time that the Pirate Orcs(as they was known as now) discovered black powder. In the beggining, all that it contributed to do was a heap of dead orc and goblin bodies. But then a orc known as Fulgat da Smart, discovered how to control it, he was the first Gunna-Boss. He gathered to him some followers and teached them how to control it(but he kept his greatest secrets to himself). Then the his apprentices spread, and soon every town had atleast one of his Apprentices.
What about that?
Chris
EDIT:I added about when they learned about black powder.

No-one knows exactly when Pirate Orcs first began to settle in Hells Teef, or why. The Pirate Orcs themselves are unsure, but some battle scarred veterans whisper rumours into the ears of any who will listen. The truth of the matter is considerably less extravagant than these old (and slightly delusional) Orcs would have one believe.
Somewhere in the distant past, on a stormy night, A group of disorientated and hungry Orcs found their stolen ship being washed up on the beaches of some unknown island. they were finally driven to shore on the island now known as Hells Teef. Having being dragged around by the merciless sea for weeks on end, the Orcs had slowly began to eat each other, but now on land, and with the cries of wild animals and monsters in their ears, their hunting instincts kicked in.
They travelled deep into the jungles, encountering a variety of local fauna and wildlife ranging from carnivorous plants to giant mosquitoes and Squiggly beasts. They eat their fill of meat, captured some of these Squig’s and marched back towards the shore again. Now stranded upon this strange island, the Orcs thought it would be wise to build shelter and the first Orcish colony appeared on these isolated isles, which the Orcs duly decided to call Hell’s Teef for the awe inspiring mountain ranges that jutted up like broken teeth from the centre of the islands.
Now, when Orcs decide to take up residence somewhere, the spores they give off unconciously build up to create a multitude of mushrooms from which more of their kind are spawned. In this way more and more Orcs began to appear on Hell's Teef, and soon the small settlement began to expand and grow. It was named TortooGork. Soon, the island was overrun with Greenskin’s of all varieties and the more adventurous Warbosses declared that they would build more of the fabled ‘kroozers’ that had brought them here and travel to the other islands that they could see so close on the horizon.
The Warbosses managed to successfully colonise the others islands after many years of trying and set up more colonies, the first of which was named Hogswash by its famous founder Hogface Blacktoof, the very first Orc to master sailing. Blacktoof would go on to become the most feared Pirate Orc in the history of the islands until he one day mysteriously disappeared with his crew.
New towns and ports began to spring up all over the islands, and soon a small nation had made itself apparent to the Old World. Some years later a young upstart appeared in TortooGork, his name was Morky Jonez and he was to become the most famous pirate Orc to ever live. It was around the same time that an Orc shaman named Grog Crookedhump discovered that if he mixed certain plant extracts and crushed ingredients he could make a drink that gave its drinker confidence almost to the point of fearlessness along with some other amusing side affects (Namely the want to sing at the top of the voice and systematically start fights with all others in view). He named this concoction Grog and became the first Brewa-Boss and most popular Orc on the islands. Many others followed in his footsteps, each coming up with different variants of the Grog made by Crookedhump.
Many decades passed and the Pirate Orcs of Hell’s Teef became a force to be reckoned with. It was at this time that an Orc by the name of Ruffstuff Redhand and his crew captured a trio of Dwarven steam-ships. On these ships he found stashes of cannons, handguns, pistols, and black powder. After testing these out on the nearest grots, Ruffstuff decided that he quite liked them, and decided to take them all. As he crossed other Pirate Orcs they too became aware of these highly amusing and destructive weapons. One such Orc was Fulgat Da Smart, who was so amazed and amused by these brilliant weapons that he tried to make his own black-powder. After many failed attempts he finally ‘perfected’ it and pressed many goblins into work creating masses of the stuff. Fulgat became the first of the Gunna-bosses
The Orcs of Hells Teef are different to the ones in the Old World in many ways. One of the most obvious is their love of gunpowder and their ability to make it (even if it is in its crudest form). Another is that they are far more creative than the Orcs and Goblins of the Old World, building boats and large, standing settlements. They also have their own currency, gold. ‘Teef’ just aren’t that piratey!
Besides these differences, there physical structure is identical, if not a bit more prone to loss of limbs! Pirate Orcs also have a base instinct to dress themselves in overly flamboyant clothing ranging from wide brimmed captains hats to frilly shirts and long trench coats. Their language also harbours a few different words and phrases, such as ‘shiver me timbers’, ‘pieces of eight’ and the all time favourite ‘arrr!’
Pirate Orcs will willingly endanger their very lives for gold, treasure and particularly Grog. The settlements of the Pirate Orcs almost exclusively consist or fortified Grog shops, all waging war on each other. The regulars of a particular Grog shop are usually therefore the crews of individual ships and captains. Although it has been known for a particularly ambitious Adm`rul to bind together more than one Grog shop, filling them with the crews of his fleets ships and creating a small keep from a number of taverns. It is this same urge for Grog that makes Brewa-Bosses extremely rich and for the most part safe. It would be a foolish Pirate Orc who would kill his Grog supplier!
The Goblins of Hells Teef usually find themselves repairing the ships of their captain, drafting in trolls or even giants when the work is too extensive or heavy for them to carry out or complete. All in all though, they are not so different from the ones of the Old World. A particularly cunning Goblin may manage to acquire himself a ship of his own, and complete with a crew and a Navvigata look to the high seas and become a Goblin Merchant Lord. These spiteful and cowardly beings are known for their ridiculous wealth and trading skills, and would much rather pay off an enemy than fight them.
At the top of the food chain are the Adm’ruls and Kommodore's, or Captains. The Adm’ruls are the biggest and most ruthless Orcs on the isles and normally control a small fleet of ships. Kommodore`s and Captains are next in the pecking order, however they usually only have one ship and less power.
The ships of the Pirate Orcs come in all shapes and sizes. The majority are captured ships from all around the world, built on with crude weapons platforms and rams. Some ambitious or rich Captains and Adm’ruls may build their own ships. These things are often large and ungainly, used simply to ram enemy ships before the Boyz onboard engage the enemy in a ferocious boarding action, in which their size, strength and toughness give them the advantage no end. Many Pirate Orc ships are two or more captured ships strapped together by rope and scaffolding.
Although many Orc ships may have sails and oars, they are rarely used (or actually work). The Pirate Orcs depend on their Navvigata’s to move their ships from place to place. These Navvigata’s are more often than not the shamans of particular crews. It is not known exactly how they move the ships, but it is not doubt by magic. They also have a tendency to home in on other ships, where battle can be met and treasure be captured.
first installment. I'll try and get the unit choices fluff up tommorow.

Man that's great! Thanks Krusty! Keep up the good work! B)
Chris - January 7, 2006 10:53 PM (GMT)
And here is something for the characters:
Adm`ruls
These are generally the biggest and toughest of all Pirate Orcs, so the also have the best equipment. They are mostly around ToortooGork and Hogs Port, but there are also some Adm`ruls in the smaller towns. What the prefer are varying, some like the most to take the enemy from afar but some prefer it up close with choppas or other close combat weapons. To offend a Adm`rul are more or less considered suicide by other Pirate Orcs, sinse every adm`rul is a damn good fighter. The biggest and strongest of the Adm`ruls is the Black Orcs, they are formidable fighters, and makes the crew stop fighting, sometimes. The Savage Orc Adm`ruls are crazed warriors, but they are also the most "inteligent" of the Savage Orcs, sometimes they have their own armadas.
Kap`ns and Kommodores
These are not as brave or skilled as the Adm`ruls, but they may give a good punch of their own. Therefor many Kap`ns join in with a Adm`rul, the Adm`ruls are only to happy to get extra crew. The Kommodores are as skilled as Kap`ns, but usually have more crew and ships at their command. A Kap`n are getting called Kommodore when he have a certain amount of ships and crew. Even though many Kommodores may have one ship, they makes u with it in size and number of crew.
Navvigaitas
The navvigaitas are as important as he Adm`ruls themselves. Because when a ship reach a certain size, it becomes almost impossibly to control them. It is at this time that the Adm`rul need a navvigaita, sinse they may use magic to control the ship(s). Some navvigaitas go even further, and even may make the ship go faster and slower. Some ships are so big that it needs more than one navvigaita to control it, Da Rer Hulk is one of the ships which have most navvigaitas on board. But the Orcs themselves arent actually knowing how the ship are getting forward or backward, as long as they get towards the enemy.
Goblin Merchants
These are an important part of orc society, they may trade with other razes(these are mostly Tilean, but they are examples of deals from the Empire and other razes). They are also accompanied by a bodyguard of trusted drinkin` mates and goblins who get paid for it(these are the most usuall). The bodyguard are actually brave in their own sort of way as long as the Merchant are alive, when he dies they mostly do what other goblins do. But if a Merchant dont have a bodyguard(either because he are stupid, or that they have died), he will almost certainly run away. Even when he have a bodyguard, he are never doing much fighting himself(that is what the bodyguard are paid for), and he leaves to his "`ead ov security" to take away rivals and enemies. The merchants were also the first to actually replace gold with teef, and also they may own one or two grog shops(good way to get more money). When in battle, a Goblin Merchants bring with many shining things and gold, which they use to bribe the enemy.
Brewa-Bosses
The Brewa-Bosses are the ones who makes the grog, which are so loved by Pirate Orcs. To find a Brewa-Boss sober is rare indeed, because they are testing that it tastes good enough. They are also often testing new types of beer, and the first testers are usually gobbos. If they arent dead by 24 hours, the brewa-boss usually "tests" just to be sure... Then they begin selling it(it is in this way most Grog Shops start), and when they have earned a great deal of gold, they sell the shop to a Goblin Merchant or another brewa-boss. When a Brewa-Boss gets tired of the usuall bar brawls and street fights, they often join a Adm`rul or Kommodore who sets sail to raid or(if they have been assigned by a Merchant) to sell wares in Tilea(the later one only happens when a Brewa-Boss are a little to drunk).
What about that?

Boy oh boy you ladz are just dishing out fluff like it`s no tomorrow :D
Kurgan will have a lot to do when he`s back  I don`t envy all that editing with the list.
on-topic: Chris you have to say something about the merchant lords and their unwillingness to fight (that`s why they have a bodyguard) - it`s in his rules.
Aslo, perhaps we should say something special about blorc and sorc characters. For example; in the fluff for savage orcs they are listed as being fairly rare - shouldn`t that be reflected on the characters as well (fluff-wise)?

But I`m not really sure what we can do now with the fluff. Have you looked over everything we got now and seen anything that needs improvement?
The only thing I can think of is some sort of timeline that connects those characters after the Hells Teef fluff in the list.
