Howdy
Pirate Orcs... discuss!
peace :D
Gutta - August 31, 2005 11:44 AM (GMT)
I think we should have black powder! But make it strange so that its not just a cannon, its a cannon attached to a handgun! OK thats lame but like looted stuff stuck together
athel_loren - August 31, 2005 11:49 AM (GMT)
I would go for some orc skirmishers or some scouts, I like the idea of blackpowder, could be a "shooty" orc list.
Snotstaff - August 31, 2005 01:19 PM (GMT)
Sorry to tell but the the Pirate Orcs discussion is otside this topic... :P
But seriosly big thanks to you Jimbob! ^_^

i wanna help i wanna help!
units there have to come in
characters
captain=warlord?
first matey=big boss?
-orc first matey/catain can have up to 3 cabin grotz for -?- points each
how we gonna call shamans? or we piratez don ave' thos orcies?
if you have more units there have to be in say them here and i will update this post
core units
-bomb dudez (skirmishers with little bombs)
-big netta' boys
-common pirate orcies (can have a trident for (3?) points- trident give +1 hit to large target and a +1 when chargin
-shootie grozt (gobbos ith handgun)
special
-cannon
-Harpoon launchers...+2 bonus to hit large targets (like dolphins, killer whales, dragons, other monsters, etc.)
-Orc swashbucklers, w/ WS 4 or 5 and skirmish
magic items
-Cap'n Jak's Sparrow
Da ladz of the Ded Seez Tribe could never figure out their late leader's sixth sense on the position of fat merchantmen, nor his knack for finding out of the way sailordives. Shame it didn't cover potential rivals...
The mysterious sparrow of Cap'n Jak confers +1 Initiative on the character carrying it. Also, one unit in the Orcs and Goblins Army may make one free move of 2d6 inches without movement penalties (except regarding impassable terrain).
-Cap'n Blak's Burnin Beard
Da Blak Cap'n of Da Burnin Reefz Clan was renowned for his blazing facial hair made from the scalps of his tastiest prizes...or it could have been the effect of fire on an orcish countenance.
Due to the tremendous amounts of smoke and the smell of charred and rotting, not to mentioning burning flesh put out by the Burnin Beard, all attacks (Missile and Shooting) directed at the bearer are at -1 to hit.
Talisman: "Lugrat's Lucky Wooden Leg" 30pts
5+ Ward save.
Guffa da Goon's Rotted Spittoon
Guffa da Goon was known among the corsairs of Sartosa for his fondness of snuff. Guffa, being a successful capatain, certainly didn't confine his chaw habbits to mere tobacco, and sent many an exotic and potent brew swishing into the scuppers.
The Rotted Spittoon is an heirloom, and the only container with the righ stuff to hold the kind of spit that would buzz a black orc captain. Goon's Spittoon gives the character with it a S3 Breath Attack. One Use Only.
Orcish Compass
Hey Boss, where we goin?
I'll tell ya when we get dere...
Once per battle, the Orcish compass can be used to decieve one unit in the opposing army. For one turn (yours or your opponent's), the decieved unit may not move in any way, even compulsory moves, fight in HTH or shoot, but will respond to charges as normal.

beaumontbrawler - August 31, 2005 05:33 PM (GMT)
Orc pirate list:
Spear chukkas = Harpoon launchers...+2 bonus to hit large targets (like dolphins, killer whales, dragons, other monsters, etc.)
Orcs carrying gafs or tridents, instead of spears...bonus to hit large targets
Need orcs w/ really big nets, capable of netting multiple targets
More cannons, less cavalry
More skirmishers, less armor
Need Orc swashbucklers, w/ WS 4 or 5 and skirmish
Need grot cabin boys - any wound suffered by accompanied hero is taken by cabin boy instead
cannons or lobbas shooting squigs (kinda like old 40K shokk attack gun)
Snotstaff - August 31, 2005 06:20 PM (GMT)
Nice ideas. Your help is appretiated. Hope to see some more suugestions... ^_^
Waaagh Argento - August 31, 2005 06:36 PM (GMT)
My (2c). I believe that a Orcīs black powder should be extremly dangerous, even for the brave and fool hardy orc that use it. SO I would like to propose that everytime a orc uses black powder whenever a 1 is rolled on the to hit dice the orc should suffer a s2 or s3 hit. Points cost should reflect this destructive nature...
Gorarat_Greatclaw - August 31, 2005 07:04 PM (GMT)
How about that "Arrer Boyz" become Gunn-Boyz? Same cost, but the Gunn-Boyz are armed with Empire Handguns with the Unstable rule:
Unstable
When ever an unstable weapon rolls a one to hit, the weapon counts as hitting the warrior armed with the weapon.
Snotstaff - August 31, 2005 07:10 PM (GMT)
Good ideas but were getting ahead of our selves!
Now we need that fluff...
Any voluenteer...
Lord Gorfasil - August 31, 2005 08:22 PM (GMT)
I love the cabin boys ideas, and harpoon guns.
Thork Bloodspilla - August 31, 2005 10:07 PM (GMT)
Hows about: The pirates came from the western oceans following a map in the hands of Yarka Bloodblade. The map tells of a hidden treasure worth more than a million teef buried in an ancient tomb in Khemri. Yarka could be a Black Orc with a snotling sitting on his hat called Snikka. The names aren't important, but the background sounds believable. :P
emoe - September 1, 2005 05:10 AM (GMT)
hm...i had in my list gobbo handgunners but we can do orcs to
what do you guys think? orcs with handgun or gobbos with handgun
o- oooo wait i have a good idee. orcs with barrels exploding spice (how is that called in english?)
they walk into a unit and do boooom and than the unit his erhm...d6 strenkt 4 hits with no armour saves.(chaos knights killer)

beaumontbrawler - September 1, 2005 02:51 PM (GMT)
orc suicide bombers???
LMAO!!!!
wow...that's a bit hard core!
me thinks it more likely that the orcs would send the grotz in for that mission of martyrdom.
BlueUnderwriter - September 1, 2005 05:58 PM (GMT)
How about arming them with long boarding pikes instead of tridents. The Pikes can reach from the 3rd rank in your block of "Orcaneers" or "Bully Boyz."

Gorarat_Greatclaw - September 2, 2005 09:02 AM (GMT)
Right, here's a basic idea for Kabin Orc Boyz/Orc Pirate Boyz/etc:
We use the basic idea of Savage Orcs. The Frenzy rule represents the drunken rowdiness of the pirate Orcs, where the Tattoos become peg legs and hook hands. (Attacks could hit the Orc, but weapons would bounce harmlessly off the already missing Orc appendages.) Most light armour would be reduced to rust in the sea air and every thing.
MorkaisChosen - September 2, 2005 09:10 AM (GMT)
Pirate Orcs, the reavers of the sea, ploughing the ocean wave in their rickety old tubs... Shouldn't be too hard!

How about making Parrot Squig an additional choice for an Orc pirate charcter? much like the lookout in the Ogre Kingdoms unit
Gorarat_Greatclaw - September 3, 2005 06:14 PM (GMT)
What does that do, then? It gives a re-roll on the "Look-Out Sir!" roll, doesn't it?
emoe - September 3, 2005 06:56 PM (GMT)
or like 40K, a attack squig.

Howdy
I don't have my catalog with me, but doesn't the red gobbo figure come with a squiq parrot? (or was that someones converstion?....)
peace :D
Garbag - September 4, 2005 06:38 AM (GMT)
No that was a white dwarf convertion for the pirate cap'in in the bugmans latement.
MorkaisChosen - September 4, 2005 02:25 PM (GMT)
Kap'n Squig da Kleenz Paunch of Powa
This is the fake paunch worn by th infamous Kapn Squig da Kleen of Da Blakk Boar. It is said that every time it is hit, more power is fed into the wearer... And it's so huge wepons get lost in it.
This counts as a suit of heavy armour. In addition, for each 5+ rolled on armour saves (assuming this is a pass), the werer gets +1 Strength for the next turn.
The reason it's 5+ is so it doesn't get too overpowered when you adda shields into the mix...

Yeah, and that was chopped off from Long Drong the Slayer Pirate.
Thork Bloodspilla - September 4, 2005 06:31 PM (GMT)
We could make beach scenery, along with Pirate ships and rafts for landing scenarios. Also how about upgrading the river troll and make an ocean troll.
Gorarat_Greatclaw - September 4, 2005 07:51 PM (GMT)
I guess the River Troll is a general water Troll. I think we could take the general rule that they can't sink. How about if we add 5 more points to make them Aquatic?
Snotstaff - September 4, 2005 07:58 PM (GMT)
How about giving the big cannons so they would be a little like Leadbleachers

We're talking Lustria dampness, here. You would pay about 70pts each (So, about 210pts for a small unit.) for something which would, most likely, fail/blow up every battle.
daemonic badger - September 5, 2005 07:21 AM (GMT)
You cannot have Pirates without some sort of guns.#
How about deckswabbers as a goblin type nit.

Well, I thought we were going to have DOW Cannons for special choices and Empire Great Cannons for rare choices.
How about Goblins armed with braces of pistols?
