special thanks to legato for creating the tut that i used for the bg of this tut.

BEGINNING

1.) Create a new document of the size 700x600 with a white background.

2.) Create a new layer. With your rectangular marquee tool, create a selection across the top with about 6 or 7 pixels border. Have the selection centered. Once you do that, hold down Shift and drag down on the left side of the selection. Get something like such:

3.) Once you do so, go to Edit > Stroke. Set to a 1 px black stroke. Be sure you did the stroke on the new layer.

4.) On a new layer, get the select tool and create a content box in the space. It should look like this so far:

5.) With your magic wand tool on the middle layer, select inside the box. It is time to create the background. Do not get rid of the selection.

BACKGROUND

1.) Create a new layer on top of all the layers so far. With the selection still selected,
go to Filter>Render>Clouds

2.) Filter>Render>Difference Clouds, Choose the clouds u want, u can change the way they look by hitting CTRL + F. Be sure your clouds are Black and white.

3.) Filter>Artistic>Film Grain, Settings: Grain:5, Highlight Area:0, Intensity: 10

4.) Filter>Brush Strokes>Dark Strokes, Settings: Balance: 5, Black Intesity: 5, and White intensity: 2

5.) Copy the current Layer

6.) Image>Adjustments>Invert

7.) Set the mode of the copied layer to Difference

8.) Hit CTRL + E to Merge the layers into one

9.) Invert the colors. Hit Ctrl + U and get a dark red color with it.

10.) Create a new layer still with selection still selected and repeat steps 2-9 all over again. (NOTE: you cant just copy and paste the current one on a new layer).

11.) Once you’ve done that, and you have two layers of the same effect except different a little bit, set the top layers mode to Linear Dodge. Once you’ve done that, you can merge the layers.

CONTENT BOX

1.) Now to do the content box. Create a new blank layer on the top of all your layers. You already have an outline for the box. Inside the box outline 1 px, select the white part from the top down to about 20 -30 pixels down (Be sure to be inside of the black outline). With that selection, drag it up to the banner section and make sure you are on the layer with the banner background. Copy a good part of it with lots of red and black. On the original layer you were working on, paste it in the same exact spot you selected the selection. You should have something similar to this:

2.) Ctrl + click on that layers picture icon so that it selects the title box image you just pasted. Edit > Stroke. Set it to a 1 pixel black stroke and make it ‘OUTSIDE’.

3.) Do the same except on the bottom and the right side of the content box. Touch it up so the side and the top and bottom flow together. This is my result after playing around:

BUTTONS

1.) On a new completely blank layer on top of all the others, create a selection of lines like such:

2.) With that selection, go to Edit > Stroke. Set it to INSIDE and make the color #D80000. Draw a line out from the center of each button on the right side to the edge of the banner background about 10 pixels away. Get something like this:

3.) Draw a vertical line connecting all the ends of the lines you just drew out. Now its time to tech it up a little more. lets draw some 45 degree lines in the boxes to the left. Create a pattern spaced out 2 pixels between each line and make it a pattern. Select the box then create a new layer. Fill the box with the pattern. make sure the pattern is horizontal. Rotate the pattern 45 degrees and delete the part that isnt in the box. Merge the layer with the box layer after that. Simple enough? lol didn’t think so. e-mail me if u got questions. this is my result:

4.) Add some text and your done with buttons.

The tut is done. Add text, and other stuff.

Cool template... I don't get the lines, however, I believe that should be a tutorial within itself. rolleyes.gif
