This was Neil's first album every recorded with his famous backing band Crazyhorse. Relasead in 1969, this album was recored in a total of 2 weeks. It shows of a lot of Neil's variety, including: Folk, Country and Rock. This song also proves Neil is very good at electric guitar after already being noticed as an astounding acoustic player.
The Band: Neil Young-Guitar
Danny Whitten-Guitar
Ralph Molina-Drums
Billy Talbot-Bass
Tracklist:
Cinnamon Girl*
Everybody Knows this is No Where*

*= Favourite Songs
Cinnamon Girl -This is one of Neil's most famous songs. Its starts out with a catchy riff that draws any listeners ear. This also shows one of Neil's best singing performances. The solo sounds good but the riff after the solo puts the icing on the cake. A very good rocking song. 5/5
Every Body Knows this is No Where-What can I say, it's the title track and proves to live up to it. Not my favourite on the album but it is definatley up there. It starts with a country feel with some light electric playing. After the chorus there is some high pitched LA LA LA LA LAs, sounds corny at first but it grows on you. This song also includes some nice fills and solos.4/5
Round and Round -If you like Neil and his acoustic by themselves with a female singer in the back you would probably love this song. Not really much to say except its the weakest song on the album, it carries on and on and gets really boring. It is made for a hardcore folk fan. 2/5
Down By The River-The starting riff is kinda of quite but features some little slow bluesy licks. The chorus is very powerful, every member sings " Down by the river, I shot my baby". This song also includes some La La La's but they also add to the song. This song really shows off the guitar talent of Neil and Danny. The bass and drums are real solid during this guitar work but are really overshadowed. This is my second favourite track on the album. 5/5
The Losing End -Very country but I like it,(I dislike most country). Neils sings well and the vocals flow very well. One strange thing is that there is a squeky voice that leeds into a solo. A fine country song. 3.5/5
Running Dry -Starts with some violin which continues the whole song. This song is very "folky" and Neil sounds like he's crying at the start. It's good listen to in the background. The violin also gets really squeky and annoying. This song is nothing special. 2.8/5
Cowgirl in the Sand -Antother quite electric start to this song which quickly turns into a very cool riff. This is another song that features alot of soloing by Neil and Danny, with the drums and bass doing a very good job in the background. There is some good lyrics which Neil sings very well, but he goes a bit too high once in awhile. Tis track involves mostly Danny and Neil alternating solos with quick and light rhythm. This is a 10:30 epic. 5/5
