Jethro Tull - Aqualung

This is my first review, so don't expect much.

This is an awesome album. I'm not really too good with different generes, so I'll just stick with a broad category and call it classic rock. Correct me if I'm wrong. Every song on this album is good. I love the lead singer, Jan Anderson. When I first heard the album I thought a different person was singing each song, but wrong, its the same guy. He has a really nice voice, especially on some of the slower songs. This album has a good mix of real, heavy rock, and slower stuff. I also love the flute. Jethro Tull is the only band I know of that has a rock-flutist. Sounds great.

The Band
Jan Anderson- Vocals, Acoustic Guitar, Flute
Clive Bunker- Drums and Percussion
Martin Barre- Electric Guitar
John Evan- Piano, Organ, and Mellotron
Jeffery Hammond- Bass guitar

Side One- Aqualung

Aqualung
Great song. Good (but weird) lyrics, and an awesome guitar solo. 5/5

Cross Eyed Mary
Another good one. Another hard rocker, lots of flute, which is cool. AWESOME flute solo. 4.5/5

Cheap Bar Return
What I think is one of the best songs on the album. I love Anderson's voice on this track. Too bad its only a minute long :( 5/5

Mother Goose
Another GREAT track. Slower this time, like the flute and guitar. 4.5/5

Wond'ring Aloud
Once more, another good song. Another slow one, good melody, good tune. 4.5/5

Up to Me
One of the weaker songs on the album. Nothing really special about it. 3/5

Side Two, My God

My God
Nice acoustic guitar in the beginning. 3.5/5

Hymn 43
Good song. Strong throughout, cool melody and tune. Nice electric guitar. 4/5

Slipstream
We go softer again with this track, and once again we are treated to Andersons wonderful melodic voice. I'd give my left nut for a voice like that. Oh well. 5/5

Locomotive Breath
Very cool song, very cool lyrics. Starts slow with a solitary piano, then gets harder. 4/5

Wind Up
One of my favourite songs on the album. GREAT lyrics. Starts off slow again with one piano, then comes in some more instruments, then it gets really heavy and cool, then back soft for the ending. Love this song. 5/5

One of those albums you can just listen to all the way through. Great stuff.

Overall Rating:
4.5/5

Good work...add a genre in brackets to your title though.

Good review. Great album. Try and add more to each individual songs information.

Tis is a very good album. I've just started getting into Tull and so far this is probably my favourite album.
