Title: The Silver City

Blue - January 20, 2004 09:34 PM (GMT)
::Lola bolted from her school doors and ran like a jackrabbit down the side walks, zig zagging in and out of people and shouting an occasional "sorry!" everytime she bumped someone even in the slightest. When she got to the bike rack, she grabbed her surf board, then not even pausing in her running, she started to take off her top with her other hand, revealing the purple-pink bathing suit underneath. Her clothes were scatterd down the path behind her, and just as she busted through the palm trees and onto the sunny white sand of their northern beach, she kicked off her sandels. Three second later Lola dove into the crystal clear salt water and was paddeling out to the next wave.::
:: On top of her blue and yellow surf board, Lola's hair tie came undone, spralling her ebony hair down across her shoulders and back. The wave was coming, and a look of excitment came over her face. The wave picked up, sliding under her board and lifting her up. Quickly the 19 year old got to her brown tanned feet and stood up spreading her arms out. SHe caught the crest of the breaking wave and started to fly through the air on the foam! She spread her arms out wider.::
"WOOOOOHHH!!!!" ::And then five seconds later she was laying on the sandy beach, back on the ground, board beside her.::
"Yeah nice wipe out there Lola." ::Someone said. A face appeared above her, blocking Lola's view of a particularly pretty cloud.::
"It was worth it." ::She said to Sara. Sara was only an aquaintence to Lola, and only bothered with her because they were in the same group in science class and had a project due on tuesday. Other then that, Lola had absolutly no friends at all.::
"You promised me we'd work on this project after school today! Instead you ran off to to...surf!"
"Sorry Sara!" ::Lola said rolling over in order to sit up.:: "I couldn't help it, my spirit always takes me away." ::She said truthfully.::
"Oh please! No more talk about your spirit! All of this hub bub about how we have to give in to the good our spirit's are portraying, and have fun while we can because if we don't we'll all turn slowly evil! Give me a break it's just to get out of school work!"
"No Sara it's true! And it's not that we turn evil it's that we don't recognize ourselves and if that happens we might as well be dead!" ::Sara scoffed and started to walk away. Lola quickly got to her feet and grabbed her surf board to follow.:: "Let's work at my house today." ::Lola suggested. Sara suddenly looked hesitant.::
"Let's not."
"Huh? But why not?"
"Because....I...I don't want to go near the jungle." ::Sara was an exchange student from the states and she just recently learned of the ledgend of the Silver City which contained an all powerful Moon Pearl and was gaurded supposivly by a deadly Gardian. Normally she wasn't the typ of girl to belive in such "foolishness" as she called it, but it seemed that since every single native to live on the island belived in the tails, young and old alike, Sara changed her point of view. :: "I...I heard it again last night." ::She whispered as if telling a secrete.::
"Heard what?" ::Lola asked.::
"Don't be stupid...the song! That eerie ghostly sounding song that comes from the jungle at night! You live right next to the jungle...that's why we shouldn't work at your house today."
"Sara you're being rediculous! I'd never heard the song, but I hear people say it's pretty!"
"Pretty, yeah, pretty phycotic and spooky! Come on! My house!" ::And with that the argument was closed. Lola started to follow her partner reluctantly down the dirt path that were their roads.::

Luther sat limply on a bench in front of the airport. *Ring* His phone shook for a second. Lazily, he picked it up.
"Yes?" He said, his voice tranquil-like.

"Im hoping you are on your way by now." Said a sinister voice.

"Of course I am, what do you take me for? This job ain't easy you know." Luthers face became tense in frustration.

"Let us hope so. Remember, we don't want any plublicity."

"Yeah, I got ya." He replyed, as he took a lighter from his pocket.

"Do the job well. The consequences might not fit your liking."

"Oh shut it. You hired the best of the best, worrying is a waste of time." Luther said, grinning, as he took out a ciggarete from his other pocket.

"Fine, so be it." The voice finally said as he hung up.

"Pfft. What an annoying guy." He said as he lit the ciggarete and walked towards the plane. His eyes narrowed as he blew out some of the rancid smoke. "I should really quit if I want to keep up this job." Luther took one deep inhalation and threw the ciggarete on the floor.

Carelessly, he boarded the plane. "Hawaii, here I come." He said to himself as he sat down.

((Sorry, that Zoidberg posting was me, my brother forgot to sign out of his name. I would delete it but im not admin anymore..so ignore it.))

Gary had spent the last two nights out in the jungle, searching for the silver city. he took himself very seriously, though no one else did. He was a myth buster of sorts, he had already blown the cover off 4 urban legends in his life, and the silver city was his next project. "RUm du dum." he strolled down the street towards his jeep, he had just finished a well cooked hawaiian meal. His funds were running low though, myth busting doesn't pay well. "Time to wire Uncle Freddy for some cash." He jumped into his car and opened the glove compartment. He pulled a sheet of paper, and a pen from the small area. He scribbled a few wordes on it and ammed it into an envelope. Then he was off, towards the post office and then back itno the jungle to do some more research.

Hanako skipped happily home from school, her curlly black hair bounced against her back. As she skipped she listened the the lastest Klaha Cd which she had ordered just recently, she lip-sang along.

"Tadamia~!" She called upon entering her house. Her mother smiled as the girl ran to her room, where only seconds later Klaha Nostal Lab played. Hana swung her hips in time of the music, singing along.

"Waaiiii~!" She cried and fell down on her bed, and rolled over onto her stomach. She picked up the folder where she kept pictures she cut out of magazines.

"Rodger...over here" A familiar voice yelled to him. IT was Pete Kastanza, Rodgers old achieologist buddy. Rodger had just arrived in hawaii and after a long trip, he needed to find a room where he can stay for the time being. Rodger and pete had been through a lot with one another, digging in egypt for tombs, trekking through the myan villages for artifacts and then some. Rodger went and sat down across from Pete in the cafe that was by the sea.

"come on rodger get your white beared self on over
here"
Pete said again waving to Rodger.

"Sorry sorry, heat mut be getting to me worse than I thought" Rodger said sitting down in the eicker chair across from his old time partner. Pete was about a decade younger that Rodger (pete is 42) and was a slightly pudgy man with a smile always on his face. Pete brished his fingers through his black hair to wipe some sweat out and then wiped his hands on the vrown wood of the table.

"so i guess you've heard of the moon people....why else would you be here?"
Pete joked around

"yeah, and the same for you I would figure" Rodge responded taking out his pipe from his pocket. Rodger put the tabacoo into the pipe and lit it up and began to smoke. Rodger never really smokes, only on special cases, and meeting with an old friend to find an old city sound like one to him.

"I got us 2 rooms in one of the hotels here, It's called The Atlantis Hotel, so do you have our stiff?" Pete informed Rodger and started to lean over the table.

"yes I do, don't worry yur head off" Rodger said breathing a puff of purple smoke from his nose and holding up a really heavy over stuffed back pack with equipment hangin off everywhere. Rodger struggled to get the pack onto the table and managed to with a thud. "Now lets get going shall we"

After a boring ride, Luther arrived in Hawaii.
"So, where to start?" He gazed around, spotting many stores and happy looking natives. "Guess I gotta get some gossip."
He wandered out to ask the people about this legend.

::A white-skinned little girl sat in the shade of her favourite tree, poring over a tattered, weather-beaten paperback. Tears leaked from her eyes as she turned the pages with trembling fingers. She got picked on again, but that mean boy Hiko and the other girls in her class. They didn't like her drawing.. She unfolded a piece of paper that was tucked in the pocket of her denim skirt... In neat crayon strokes there were trees and bushes, densely packed together. A small white dot lay in the very middle of the page, glowing white. It was covered by trees and bushes deep in the forest and looked as if it was hidden far away. Finally a small figure stood facing the white dot, ready to enter the jungle. It was herself. A silvery tear trickled and dropped onto the paper. It rolled down the page, over the drawn figure's golden hair. In her anger, the girl called Angie, almost eight years old, crumpled the paper with her hands and stuffed it gracelessly in her pocket. Hot tears rolled from her eyes and she wiped them away with her hand. Her parents didn't know she was out there. They barely even knew she existed. They were archeologists and were always busy with work. But sometimes at bedtime they'd tell her stories of the fantastic civilizations they'd discovered or read about in books and "National Geographic." But they didn't tell her as many stories any more.. not like when she was very little. At night she just ran off when she couldn't sleep, to the edge of the jungle to listen to the pretty music. It played every night.. Tonight momma and daddy would be away.. tonight she would find out where the pretty music came from.::

Rodger and Pete made there way through the sunny island and found themselves in the hotel next. They both recieved there room keys, Pete was room 208 and Rodger 210. "well be seeing you Pete" rodger called out

"wpah where you going" Pete questioned

"I'm going to go scope out the island, here take my stuff would ja" rodger asked throwing the heavy pack at Pete. Pete caught the pack and almost fell over

"Hey"
Pete muttered under his breath

"See ya later, round 9:00" And rodger left out the hotel dorr to go look at the jungle a bit himself.

Gary had entered the Jungle. His Jeep was parked on the outskirts. Something was haunting him, he could hear music but barely. "Hmmmm. That sound is simply beautiful." He was wandering now, following the sound. He wasn't even thinking about leaving a visible trail so that he could return to his car later on.

Blue - January 21, 2004 02:55 AM (GMT)
::The day wore on, and finally, FINALLY Lola and Sara finished their project. As if Sara were done with an old paper towel she shoved Lola roughly out the door saying that they'd present tuesday and goodbye. The door slammed shut and Lola stood starring at the wood for a moment. Finally she turned and stepped off the steps and onto the boardwalk. Their part of the island was small, and the land was too close tot eh beach for roads. Besides, their town was small enough to be able to wlak or bike everywhere, so theyhad either wooden board walks or dirt paths instead of roads.::
::Lola sighed, thinking that she'd never have a friend, then turned and started through town. She had been planning on going bakc tot eh beach to surf for a bit since her HW was done, but she started to pass the bookshop and saw something in the window that caught her eye. She stopped and looked in. It was a dark blue book, with silver lettering, and a picture of a beautiful shining pearl that sat on a very elaborate pedastle in the midst of a shining silver city. The book title read "The ledgend of the Silver City. Stories according to the Hawwians." Lola didn't know why she was interested. She had been hearing the stories ever since she was little, all her life. All of the kids her age were bored with the subject. It was spoken about to frequently and it had been over done. But the stories had never become borning to Lola for some reason.::
::She stepped into the shop, picked the book up tenderly, then went to the register. She put it up on the counter::
"Hey Mawdy." ::Lola said smiling. Mawdy, a very characterful old woman smiled at her young customer through bug-eyed glasses and curly gray hair. Mawdy's skin was as dark as the rest of the natives.::
"Why hello Lola dear. What are we buying this time?" ::She took the book in her wrinkely old hands and looked at it. Her face fell to surprise.:: "Why Lola? The Silver City? But you know all the stories by heart! I put that book in the window for all the torists. I've been seeing a lot lately. Summer always does that. Lots of scientific looking people with digging equipment. I thought they'd be more interested then you!" ::She said.::
"Well put another one out for them. I want this one. You know I love the tales. And you know they're true!" ::Mawdy laughed::
"Dear...all the islanders know they're true." ::Mawdy paused, hesitating.::
"Mawdy...what is it?"
"I...oh...it's just that, all these scientists...no one on the island likes them here..."
"Neither do I! They should leave our ledgends alone!" ::Lola said quite sharply::
"Yes dear, we all feel strongly...but...you know you're father has seen the Silver City. Everyone on the island knows it. I'm afraid you and your father won't be getting much privacy once the word gets out." ::Lola looked simply devistated.::
"Oh Mawdy, the islanders won't tell those scientists anything! They respect us! Besides, I cna't do this every summer! The constant barging into our house! I'm sick of it."
"I know hun, but you know as well as I that it's inevitable. Just go home to your dad. Seeing you makes him remember why he must be quiet about the city." ::Mawdy said. Lola nodded. Her father HAD been to the city once. He told her the stories all the time when she was a little girl. The islanders knew they ahd to protect the city, for men were never meant to see it or ever go there. Lola loved the silver city and the moon crystal stories so much, that it seemed to give her father the strength to resist any scientist who came by.::
::Quickly they finished their transaction, and Lola hurried out the store and down the boarwalk to get to her home on the other side of town near the jungle. Finally she saw her house in the distance. Lola was about to go on to it when she heard a sniffle. She stopped and blinked, her large black eyes looking for the source. Finally she saw it. The silouette of a small little girl sittiing under a tree to keep out of the blinding sunlight. Lola could tell she was crying. She wanted to go home, to help her father if anyone showed up, but her spirit told her no. Lola sighed, then closed her eyes to listen to her spirit, which Sara thought to silly.::
::Lola's vision went black, and she stood silently all over sounds fadidn around her until she could feel herself. She felt her heart beating, and her mind working, but more importaintly, she felt her own feelings. The girl needed a friend, and so did Lola. Her father would manage for the few short minutes a conversation with a little girl could take. Besides....Lola flt the girls was importaint somehow. She opened her eyes then started to walk over.::
::The girl was definatly crying. Lola's eyes saddened and when she came under the shade of the tree she sat down next to her.::
"Hey..." ::She said gently.:: "Whatchya readin'?" ::She asked looking at her shabby book.:: "I like to read too, see?" ::Lolashowed the little girl her newly purchased book.::

Rodger strolled along the beach looking out at the ocean and with all the natives looking at him. They seemed to be angry at him, why he hadn't done anything, and maybe if he finds the city that he's heard and read so much about they'll think he's a hero. He imagined it in his head with all the people wanting to shake his hand and such. He snapped out of it when he relized he was walking into the water. The water liquid touched his cacky shorts and gave a little burn cause he had cuts on his legs from another expidition he had quit to come to this one. "Uh oh...I have no idea where I'm going....need to ask some one". Rodger looked at his silver watch that his dad had given to him as a child. It's still in good condition dispite it being about 67 years old. About 2 hours had past while walking and that wasn't a good sign for him. every time he tried to ask a native for help to the Atlantis hotel, people would give a nasty look or walk away.

DarkDestiny - January 21, 2004 10:35 PM (GMT)
"It will be an adventure!" Shana said Sarcastically as she lay staring up at the ceiling of her new room. "Yea right." She added angrily. She hated this place. it was millions of miles away from her friends and school. Millions away from anything woth doing or having. She had never wanted to come to the island, she had wanted to stay with her aunt and uncle until her parents returned from their stupid trip. They had insisted on taking her with arguments consisting of of "you'll miss us too much.. we will miss you. You can just stay home alone." As if her aunt and uncle didn't count. Not like they didn't leave her alone all the time here anyway. In her anger she didn't let an inner voice with an argument of "They asked if you wanted to go into the jungle and you said no." hold sway. After all she hated the jungle. She hated the hot sticky over grown over hyped forest with it's bugs and snakes. Letting her anger build until the ceiling blurred with furious tears, she finally released an angry sigh. She stood abruptly and like a caged tiger paced over to the sliding glass doors. Her parents had rented a small two bedroom, one bathroom, one kitchen cottage on the shore. the called it quaint. She called it a prison box. She glared at the not too distant beach as if it too shared responsibility for her predicament. It mocked her with its interference. She hated the sand. It got every where and then refused to get out. She hated the crystal clear salty water that sung her eyes. Water should be deep blue green almost brown. Like home. She hated this place and it's accursed jungle. She just wanted to go home.

::Angie stood up as the lady approached her and started talking. The girl was very pretty, with dark hair and pretty dark eyes. Angie looked up into her eyes, dried her tears and smiled. She held up the book she was holding.::

It's my favourite. ::Her voice was soft and meek, but she was clear spoken and well-versed. The cover of her book had a picture of a golden Lion on the front.:: It's "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe." It's one of the tales of Narnia.. when I don't have a place, I go to this one.. it's my own world. I don't fit in any where else.. ::She put the book down.:: What is your name? I'm Angie. Did you come to hear the pretty music too?

Blue - January 21, 2004 11:39 PM (GMT)
"Well Angie, my name is Lola!" ::Lola replied witha bright smiled.:: "That's a good book, I've read it once a long time ago. Probably when I was about your age." ::Lola stood and looked out to the jungle, her smile vanishing.:: "Pretty music...you mean the singing people say they hear at night?" ::She asked but did not expect and answer. Suddenly Lola turned back to Angie.:: "You shouldn't go into the jungle at night Angie, it's dangerous." ::Afraid that she was scaring the girl Lola stopped and her smile returned.::
"Well, I really need to get home to my dad, before some scientist get's to him first....do you have any parents? If you have no where to go you can come with, I'm sure my dad won't mind. I'd hate to leave you out here all alone."

*Just another day to him...

...that's all, yesterday is gone, and there was never a gaurantee that tomorrow would come, there was only today. And damned if that wasn't the only thing Johnny lived for! The blue planes of the ocean only echoed in a gentle curve as far as he could see behind him. The subtile splashes of water beaded and curled down his ankles as his feet sliced through the water leaving a milky froth on the tips of the waves, Johnny loved that feeling and loved even more to let out a shining roar from his throat, how just for that moment he could be the happiest person in the world!

Out of all the places his family had dragged him to, Hawaii was by far his favorite, though he loved the snowing mountains of chile, the last place his parent's ventured to, the tropical beauty was something that he couldn't describe.

Well, what was the point of describing Hawaii?! There was a driver on that boat that is supposed to throw him in the water. The 19-someodd boy pulled back, the salt matting his usually flared hairstyle into a dull meshy blob, he hated that, the one fault of the beautiful ocean...I guess the dangerous animals could be a small inconvienence as well...not a lot of people played tow games here, they consider them dangerous....but you only live once.

HEY! Let's get the speed going! I'm dyin' out here!

The boy gave a weak chuckle that only he could hear, it was fun to get the occasional major wipeout, but it still scarred him everytime he began to lose his balance. This time was no different, nothing as cunning as a quick turn but rather a cheap move...coming to a quick stop until the youngster nearly collided with the back of the boat, and then speeding up again, causing his feet from under him to kick upward. It wasn't a painful crash, once he had wrenched his back after doing a cartwheel on the surface of the water (bad whip to the side) and was bed-ridden for a month. He only coasted to a graceful stop on his back, staying afloat that's to the dark life preserver around his torso. People sometimes made fun of it, but hell, it has saved him much more than once.

The small boat sputtered some water into his face as it stopped at it's side. A young woman had gone to the edge of the boat, she was a usual native to this area, dark skin, loved the beach, Johnny thought of her as simply "allright", but he was hard man to please...the kind that lives without love.

Fast enough for you? She laughed.
Mary, you were driving? This was unusual, Gene almost never let anyone else drive his boat. Johnny figured that he was buttering her up for some other reason, one Johnny didn't care about.

Yep, I don't see what the fuss is, just hit the throtte and go, right?
Heh, right.
You want to go for another run?
No thanks, I think I'm done for the day

-----------
Johnny lived in an...undeveloped neighborhood of the town. No, not like that, it was really a beautiful place, but not a lot of people lived there, new houses and such. In fact, there was a new neighbor that had moved in earlier, they were a gentle family, the Katsura's were. Sure, they were like fish out of water, and the kid was a bit weird...but he was once new, too.

Another family moved in too, the Steels...his parents had met the parents of that family, but Johnny hadn't had met any of them. Then there were the more mysterious, those who were never home, only their dusty jeeps remained in the drive-way. Some diggers, obviously, there was some huge buzz about "legend' in the town. Johnny didn't really care about it, as long as the beaches were packed with tourists...more than usual anyway.

EternalSailorMoon - January 22, 2004 12:56 AM (GMT)
I always come out here. My parents are away.. I don't like sleeping in there all alone.. I trust the forest more than an empty house. Robbers can come in the night when there's no one home, and I can't fight. But in the dark no one sees me here.. I sleep here all the time and I always listen for the pretty music. ::She held her hand next to her mouth and leaned in close.:: Sometimes I try to see the city in the jungle. I saw it once, a long time ago when I was littler. It glowed like the moon. But I haven't seen it again yet. ::She bent over and picked up her book.:: Will you stay to listen to the music with me?

Blue - January 22, 2004 03:04 AM (GMT)
::Lola had no idea why she was so sure that the ledgends weren't only true, but dangerous! But she was positive that she didn't want this little girl going into the jungle at night, even though the stories never really specified any threat other then some "Gardian" who was suppose to protect the non-existant Silver City. Lola didn't know why, but she KNEW the city existed, even though she ahd never seen it. Lola looked back to Angie and frowned. Some parents...leave their kid alone all day and all night. How does she eat? How can she watch herself all the time? Lola thought. But it wasn't like her to be too serious or down for too long. She perked up instantly.::
"Well my house is right over there!" ::Lola said pointing to her and her fathers hut-like house at the end of the boardwalk:: "It's right next to the jungle, my father says he hears the song every night! I'm sure you'll hear them too." ::Lola said. She took the girls hand and started to take her too her home. She'd be damned if she'd let a little girl be by herself for so long. Lola got lost in thought on the short walk home. Lolahad never had the privlage ofhearing these spooky songs the villagers always describe because she ahd a condition that never let her remember the night. The doctors could not explain it and said that there was nothing wrong with her mind. Lola's father always assured her however, that she simply sleeps like a rock though the night, except for her schedualed sleepwalk. But it seemed weird to her...why would she instantly fal unconscious at sunset? And why did she sleep walk everynight to the same spot in the jungle where she woke every morning at sunrise? It was a beautiful spot in the jungle really. A large waterfall that fell into a crystal clear pool. But it seemed far from home, and it took Lola a good two hours of wlaking int he jungle even to get back to town. I must just be some sort of weirdo, like the kids in school say... She thought miserably, but soon they ahd reached her house and Lola brightened up once more. She walked into the door.::
"Daddy, I'm home! I brought a friend!" ::She called. There was a shuffeling in the kitchen and then a man stepped out into the livingroom. He was a small man with the usual dark skin and black hair of all natives to the island. He had a funny little mustach covering a wide grin.::
"Lola...you're covered in sand! Did you go surfing right after school again?"
"Yes daddy."
"You can't do that tomorrow, you have holla lessons."
"I know daddy." ::The two went over to eachother and hugged. When they broke apart Lola went back over to Angie.:: "Daddy, this is Angie. Her parents leave her alone days and nights. I was wondering if she could stay with us for a while." ::Her father who was usual a VERY cheerful man suddenly frowned with concern.::
"I...no...I don't think so Lola dear..." ::Lola was shocked at this response, it was SO unlike him.::
"But...but daddy! She has no where to go!" ::Her father was quiet as his eyes moved about in the fashion they usually did when he was thinking hard about something. It looked like he had very good reason for Angie not to spent the night, but he did not voice it.::
"Ok ok...I wouldn't want to send her out on her own....how about if she sleeps in my room tonight, and I'll sleep on the couch?"
"Daddy, she can sleep with me! It'll be like a slumber party!" ::Lola said happily.::
"No I don't think so Lola dear....you're sleeping habits you know. It'll be better for her to be in the back where you can't disturb her." ::Lola's father said. Lola studied her fathers face. SHe didn't understand why he was being so difficult, he usually accepted anyone over for lunch, and helped any stranger on a whim. For some reason he really wasn't going to bend on this one. Finally Lola realized there would be no point arguing.::
"Ok daddy."
"Great! Now, let's have some dinner!" ::He said. The sun was just starting to decend in the sky, and it was only 4 o'clock. But Lola and her dad had always eaten very early due to the fact that Lola lost consciousness at sunset. Her father rummaged through the kitchen looking for food for the three. Lola walked over cautiously, leaving Angie int he livingroom.::
"Daddy...Mawdy said...that there were many scientists on the island this year, more then even last year." ::Her father stood up so quickly that he hit his head on the bottom of the counter.::
"OOOW!"
"Daddy!"
"Don't worry, I'm ok!!!" ::He rubbed his skull, then turned to face his daughter.:: "We'll deal with them how we have every year. Point them in the wrong direction."
"I don't want anyone trying to pry information from you while I'm at school! I want to be here to help!"
"Lola...you have one week left of highschool. You'll be an adult soon. That last week is importaint you go to school and get good grades and you won't worry about me. I can handel my own, and I'll protect the city as best I can. Ok sweetheart?" ::Lola didn't look convinced, but she nodded. Her ftaher kissed her on her fourhead.:: "Good, now go and make Angie feel at home. It must be terrible to have parents that ignore you."
"Ok daddy." ::Lola said, then walked back into the livingroom to find her new friend.::

Luther was becoming impatient. The sun was about to set, and he needed at least some kind of progress to go on. He spotted a book store, and went in, with a fake smile spread across his face.
"Hello." He said, to the woman.

"Aloha!" She said cheerful-like.

"I'm Luther, I just moved here and I would like to take out a book about the.." He looked up at the cieling, pretending to try to remember something. "Oh what was it..the..oh yes, the Silver City." He looked at her, "Would you happen to have it?"

"Im so sorry, it was recently taken. We should have more soon but.."

Luther immediatly cut her off, as he spotted something. "Oh, i'll take that!" He said, running over to the shelf and taking a very small book, the covers made from thin, worn, leather. On it said, "Hawain Legends".

"Oh..ok, just let me ring it up." She said, a bit frustrated because of his sudden rudeness.

"Thanks" he said, as he took the book when she was finished and slowly walked out the door.

He scowled and immediatly wiped the smile off his face. "Now, for some studying." He slowly flipped through the pages to find what he was looking for.

Blish was burrowing in the sand under the thick bushes, looking for good seeds to eat. She was near the boardwalk that led to Lola's hut, waiting for her friend to come home from school. She was much, much later than usual, but just before Blish really started to worry, she heard the happy footsteps of Lola coming down the boardwalk. Unusually, but not unheard of, there was another set of footsteps accompanying Lola's. Blish hid in the shrubs and saw her walk by, holding the hand of a little human girl. Blish followed them carefully, sniffing the air.
They went inside, and Blish climbed up onto the always-open windowsill to watch. To Blish's suprise, Lola asked if the little one could spend the night! Even more to Blish's suprise, Father agreed. Blish cocked her head, curious. Oddly, she did not feel alarmed by this. Perhaps the little one could be trusted. She seemed very innocent. Blish nodded once, approving of Father's descision, and then scurried into Lola's room, cuddling on her blankets. Lola was always so affectionate before sunset.

((hey guys, I'm back from vacation! This RP looks awesome so far! Good luck going back to school, all))

::Before Lola could say much to Angie, she heard a noise come from her bedroom. A huge smile spread across her face as she stood up and grabbed Angie's hand.::
"Hey I almost forgot! I want you too meet someone!" ::She cried excitingly. Lola then ran into the room, pulling Angie along weather she wanted to come or not. There sitting on Lol'a bed sheets was Blish, a little, VERY cute white monkey. Lola let go of Angie and ran over to hug her friend.:
"Hey Blish! Sorry I'm late! I wanted to buy this book see, and I ahd this project to do with Sara. AND I found Angie." ::Lola turned back to face Angie.:: "Angie this is Blish. She's my friend. Isn't she the cutest monkey you've ever seen?" ::Lola said.:: "Blish we're about to have dinner, I'm sure daddy will give you one of the new banana's he got from the store."

EternalSailorMoon - January 23, 2004 12:14 AM (GMT)
((Monkey is a funny word.))

::Angie squealed excitedly at the sight of the monkey.:: Oh! Your friend is so cute! ::She shyly reached out a hand to pet the little creature. It was the cutest monkey she'd ever seen.:: I am going to stay here tonight too, but my mom won't worry. I sleep in the jungle all the time. I go home after school everyday but they're always off exploring the jungle and looking for old things. I like to read better. That's 'cause they used to tell me stories and now I like to read them myself. ::She petted the monkey again and heard Lola say they were going to be having dinner soon. Angie's stomach growled. She whispered to Blish:: If we get cookies I'll save one for you. ::She waved bye and followed Lola back to the dining room.::

Luther flipped through the pages, finding things about island spirits and gods and such, but nothing about the "Silver City". Finally he came to the end of the book. Nothing. He was about to close it angrily when he felt a bump on the back cover. He felt it, trying to find out what it was. After some careful inspecting, he found a small pocket that held a piece of paper. He opened up the old tattered paper and chuckled. "Jackpot."

After a grueling 4 hours Rodger was succesfull at getting back to the hotel. HE walked in wiping the sweat off his forehead with his hankercheif he always had in his back pocket. Rodger walked across the hotels tiled surface making a clicking noise when he walked. It was quite, very quiet, so quiet Rodger could hear other people conversations on the other side of the room (it's a big room). He climbed the stairs that lead to the 2nd story to find his room, so he could take a small breather.

Ladian - January 23, 2004 04:34 PM (GMT)
Blish happily let Angie pet her. The little human was adorably cute, and obviously thought of Blish the same way. When Lola mentioned bananas Blish leaped up and down with happiness. Then Angie mentioned cookies. Blish squeaked with joy and ran under their feet, beating everyone to the table and taking her usual seat, a chair with books on it set up just for her. She loooooved fresh fruit, and there was always some for her.
One thing Angie had said did bother her, that remark about her parents always off exploring the jungle. She would have to do something about that, and soon. The tourists were far too many this year. An uneasyness settled over the little monkey, which she couldn't shake through all of dinner. She hoped Lola's father would be able to keep Angie from discovering their secret.

Blue - January 24, 2004 11:44 PM (GMT)
::Their dinner was exsquisit, as it always was. Lola's family also had the luck of being uninterrupted by any scientist or acheologist. After they finished eating Lola helped her father clear the table and do the dishes. Both Lola and her father kept glancing out the window as the sun fell steadily lower and lower in the sky. The sky changed from it's bright blue to a greenish yellow, then finally to an orange red. Lola's father took Angie by her hand and wlaked her down the hall to his bedroom. He and Lola tucked her in together, and hoped she didn't mind their custom of always going to bed before sunset. Then they walked out and closed the door behind them. When Lola wasn't looking, her father locked the girl in. He wasn't going to take any chances on the young girl finding out Lola's secrete.::
::After Angie was taken care of, Lola's father walked Lola to her own bedroom. She lay down and the two said their goodnights. Her ftaher walked out of Lola's room, but did not shut the door. Instead of going to bed himself, he did what he normally did. He stood in the livingroom to wait for his daughter to re-awaken. He stood by the window and watched as the huge orange orb which was the sun touch the horizon. It started to sink, the orb becoming less and less visable. He looked over to Blish who would look completely different in a few moments.::
"Well...you look after her...you hear? Her mother wouldn't be proud if you or I let anything happen to her." ::He said quietly so as not to awake the girls. He looked back out the window and watched the very last rays of the sun vanish below the skyline. The man sighed, the orange glow in the sky fading to it's famouse dark velvet. Starts began to twinkel to life, and right on que, he heard movement in his daughters bedroom. He turned.::
::There standing in his daughters bedroom doorway was a tall slim woman with blue skin and white hair that fell down to her hips. All of her was glowing softly, and she wore what looked like a native american sown skirt and top. She was barefoot, and her eyes were pupiless. Simply white glowing orbs that stared back out at him. She held nothing but a simply spear in her hands, but Lola's father knew how deadly that spear could be in a Silarit's hands. And right now, Lola was purply and 100% Silarit. The Silarit infront of him was, yet was not his daughter. The Silarit ahd no knowlege of her human form that she took during the day, just like how Lola knew nothingof her Silarit form at night. However, her Silarit form knew considerably more then Lola, for Lola's father had told the Silarit form all that was going on.::
::Lola, as she was still called by her father even in this form, lifted up a few inches above the ground, then floated down the hall so silently that chills ran up his spine. He could never get used to that silence. Lola floated over to him, then paused infront of him.::
"You are honorable, one of the many reasons we have left your planet rather then destroy your kind. Keep that honor, it will fill your spirit until it is large and strong." ::Her voice was not Lola's at all. It had two pitches. One of Lola's normal range, then another much lower that was quiet, but never-the-less there, gicing the Silarit almost a mechanical quality despite it's obvious organic nature. Lola's father nodded.::
"Just trying to help do the right thing."
"And in that frame of mind you have already done so." ::The Silarit turned her chilling eyes to his.:: "Do not worry for your daughter, she may be late coming home in the morning." ::And with that the Silarit hovered over to the window. She slid it open, then floated outside where she let her feet touch down upon the sil of the earth. SHe started into the jungle.::
::Lola's father stood perilized. Lola would be late? He knew for a fact that the Silarit's only purpous was to guard the Silver City and the Moon Crystal. He also knew that she had never lost a battle, and in fact had only come home injured once. And that inhury had been a very minor cut on her upper arm which he had a hard time trying to explain away too poor Lola who had no idea where it come from. The Silarit, also had powers that he did not understand, one of these being the power to be able to see, at least somewhat of what lays in the future. She would be late...did that mean the Silarit knew something would be happening that night? Her words did not comfort him, they had terrified him.::
"Blish! Go with her!" ::He ordered, to the creature who was no longer a monkey.::

::Two hours later, an errie, yet beautiful song filled the air. It sounded like the voice of a woman...yet it did not. The spookey notes filled the night airs currents, and everytime the wind blew the right way the note rose and fell on the whims of the breeze. Lola's father knew he'd stay up all night to make sure that song was not interrupted...for if the song ever stopped even once, it meant the Silarit was dealing with an intruder.::

After throwing herself on her bed in an angry huff, Shana had drifted off to sleep whith out realizing it her anger had drained her. When she awoke it was night fall. For a few moments she didn't know where she was or why she had awakened. Then the grim reality of her location hit her. Next the even stranger reason for her awaking hit her. There was a faint music in the air. Shana had always been a light sleeper and she was already on edge from the her new surroundings. She quickly searched the house and found her parents were still not home. She was alone. She couldn't stop the shiver that began running down her spine. She went back to her room and listened for a moment. It was coming from outside. She Grabbed a flash light from her bedside table. She couldn't sleep she was totally alone, and it felt like the plot of a bad horror movie, but she had to know what was making that sound. It couldn't be human. Summing her will to be strong Shana slipped on her sneakers and opened the sliding glass door to outside. immediately the song got louder. Because she had fallen a sleep in her clothes she did not have to worry about wasting time dressing. she just began to follow the song.

Rodger was suppose to meet the people he was going to be working with a few hours ago to go party beofre the search tommorow. "better late then never I suppose" He convinced himself and put on some black pants and a white shirt and his favorite safari hat. He grabbed his wallet and head down the stairs forgetting to lock his door. He stepped out of the hotel just as the sun was going down "wow that looks nice" he stopped for a second to take in the scenery. there was faint music coming from the jungle "Well we did say we were going to meet in a deserted spot, guess it's there, but all the way over in that jungle that deep.....little bold Pete" and with that he headed off for the jungle.

Blue - January 25, 2004 01:00 AM (GMT)
::There was a large cliff covered with beautiful palm trees and green moss. The palm trees on the cliff sprouted pink and white flowers which was not natural to the regular palm. But the most spectacular thing about the cliff was that a waterfall fell from it's top splashing into a crystal clear pool at the bottom. But even more amazing was the second waterfall directly across from it. This second waterfall fell from a cliff just as high as it's friend, and fell into the same sparkeling pool.::
::It was indeed the deepest part of the jungel. In order to get there a person would need to first walk on the dirt paths that lead trhough horrendously thick brush and vines, in order to get eventually to no path at all. Then they'd have to somehow navigate their way through the jungle themselves. To make it more difficult, is that the deepest part of the jungel where the waterfalls were was situated int eh center of an old crator. This meaning that there were cliffs on all sides, all sides that is...but one. Carved into one side of the crator, facing the villiage wasa path. So a person would ahve to brace a pathless jungle then find this path which led the traveller betweent eh cliffs which rose up on their right and left. Sometimes the rock so close together that a traveller would have to turn themselves sideways to squeeze through.::
::If a person somehow managed to get through the rocky path and over to the pool of water which streached between the two cliffs, they'd be filled with wonder, for it was a most beautiful and enchanting site. Even those who were blind to magic, wouldn't be able to ignore it's presence, for the air was thick with it's feeling. There was no going around the pool of water. There were two waterfalls, two cliffs, and a clear pool between. But what lay on the other side of the pool was what most men never even dreamed of seeing. For there, standing just behind a thick cover of palm trees and vines was the entrance to the silver city. The city's glimmering towers rose up above the trees of the forest. There were spiraling rooftops with circular windows and the entire thing seemed to glow just as brightly as the moon that hovered above it. The city was indeed large...for it took up the entire interior of the crator with exception of the waterfalls at it's entrance.::
::But there, standing at the one and only way into the city was a young woman. She glowed blue and white, holding no weapon except for one spear in her hand. She was all that stood in the way of adventurers from both the Silver City, and it's all powerful Moon Crystal. She stood facing the pool that the waterfalls fell into, facing the path that was carved into the side of the edge of the crator, awaiting anyone foolish enough to try to enter.::
::With no one there, she swayed in enchanting, spellbinding ways. She danced with her spear. It was a way of training....yet it could be called a dance. It was a beautiful sight to any who could witness it...if they were not captivated by her spell until morning. As she daned, ehr mouth opened and closed as she sang a song much like her dance....errie, yet spellbinding. But with the song and the dance, her attention was never taken away from the path that led strangers to her sacred City. For if anyone were to come, they would not see her dance. They would only be greeted with her standing upright and strieght, glaring her pupiless eyes across the waters serface.::

Every night when the sun set and Lola transformed, Blish also changed. As soon as the first star appeared, a soft swirling light surrounded the little monkey as she grew to the size of a lion. When the light left, she stood as a Nooba, the kind of animal that was a Silarit's best friend, only far more intelligent than the Human's equivalent of a dog. She stood on four legs and was a meter tall at her back, with a slender neck. She was covered in fine, white fur that was sleek and shiney, which sometimes looked even as if it was glowing. Her face was like that of a deer, with large, pale purple eyes. She had a slender tail like a lion, and the body like that of a tiger, except her legs were much longer.
Blish had a gift that Lola did not. Because she was an animal, only her body transformed. Her mind remained the same, and so she knew both the day and night as the same person. This was nessesary because it was her job to protect Lola at all times, and secondly, to keep her company.
Blish saw the worry on Lola's father's face, and immidiately bounded out of the window after the Silarit girl. She followed softly behind her, careful to not make any noise that would attract the attention of the strangers roaming the jungle. There were too many here tonight, she thought.
She heard Lola begin her song, and hurried to catch up. She hadn't realized how far ahead of her she'd gotten. Blish stopped at the point in the path just beyond Lola's vision and let out a soft cooing sound to let the guardian know it was just her. She then walked around the bend, swimming across the pool of water and sitting nobley on her favorite rock as she watched Lola practice.
"Your words left your father worried." she said.

It was coming from the jungle. Shana scowled. Of course it had to be coming from the deep scary stupid life ruining jungle. Her parents, if they had bothered coming home, would have been ecstatic and immediately ran head long into it. As it was shana stood at the edge, and wondered if she was going just as crazy as her parents. She wanted to go in to. The music called to her. She wanted to know what made it. Her life had been, with the exception of her parents meddling, relatively ordinary. While they had seen it as life of adventure she had seen it as life of digging holes to find really really old garbage. This music was real. It was real adventure. As the child of two adventure lovers she could not help but know it in her heart. Finally she admitted it. She was just as crazy.. if not more so and began following the path into the jungle. Her flash light lit the way as she followed the path deeper and deeper. It seemed to go on for ever. Yet the music had captivated her. She had to know what it was, and so at least an hour later when the path abruptly ended she didn't notice. She had just started to walk off of it when she realized what a stupid thing to do that would be. Crazy she was, but not stupid. Her heart fell as she realized that she could go no further this night. Positive she was alone, and angry with the jungle for at last foiling her attempt to find the source of the song, she screamed "I HATE THIS PLACE! I HATE THIS JUNGLE AND I HATE THIS STUPID MUSIC FOR DRAGGING ME TO THIS STUPID PLACE IN THIS STUPID JUNGLE!! Viciously she kicked the nearest tree, only to yelp with pain. For all that she wanted to escape the jungle she couldn't make her self turn away. She sat down at the edge of the path, leaned up against the tree she had kicked, and against her will slowly drifted off to sleep.

Luther had already been trekking through the thick green plants of the jungle. He found an old tattered map in the back of the book, and has been trying to interpret it in the best way he could. "Dammit. Where is this place?" He said, as he used the moonlight to read his map. "For all I know this is a joke." He sat down against a tree. "Maybe I'll be more sucessfull in the morning. He layed his head back and fell into his dreams.

((Remember I'm seven years old.))

::Angie had been tucked into a big, soft bed but she didn't fall asleep. She never fell asleep until she heard the pretty music that came every night. When it began it was clearer than ever because she was so close. She sat up in the bed and clapped excitedly. But she couldn't enjoy it as much as she normally would because they had locked her in the room. She had lain down and pretended to be asleep, and when they all left she heard the scrape of a key in the door. When they had all gone away from the door she tiptoed to the knob and gently turned it. It was definitely locked. Why would they lock her in, she wondered. To Angie some things in the house were very strange. Why had Lola's daddy been so scared when Lola asked for Angie to spend the night? And why did Angie have to sleep in a boy's room and not with her new friends Lola and Blish? Angie decided to find out. She climbed out of the bed and went over to the window in the room. She was on the second story but she had become adept at climbing out windows because she had been caught more than once leaving her house. Her parents worried about her alot, sneaking out to the jungle. If they didn't find her in her bed, she'd be sleeping under the same tree in the jungle. Angie braced her hands on the window after looking for a lock and pushed. To her surprise it slid upward easily and stayed there. It was just big enough to fit her, and she first stuck her head out of the opening to see what was below. No pricker bushes or rocks. The music was even louder now. She turned back and pulled the blanket off the bed and hung it out the window. Then she climbed out over the windowsill, and stood on her tiptoes on it. Without catching her toes, and with one hand, she clung to the top of the window and slid the glass down so that it trapped the blanket between the windowsill and the panes of glass and wood. Carefully she inched down and grabbed onto the trapped blanket and slid gracefully down the it. She landed soundlessly on the grass. She giggled mischeviously to herself and went to the jungle. She wanted to find where the pretty music came from.::

" ~laaa` ah` ah`- ahhh uhhh `ahh~-- uh ah daaa`~ la` de `-`de daaah uh ah aah- la~`" ::The song continued onward, filling the jungle trees and the dropletts of water that seemed to hang in the air. The animals were peacful that night, even if the Silarit dancing across the water was not. Although her spirit was always at peace, her mind was troubled. The blue and white glowing figure danced onward, but not without feeling the presance of many intruders int he jungle that night. She knew they made their way toward her, and she knew she would meet at least one by the time the sun rose. Silarit could not tell who she would met for there were too many spirits in the jungle to differ from.::
::As her friend Blish swam across the pond, Silarit continued to sing and dance, but was at the same time able to communicate with Blish through telepathy. Blish was the only creature Silarit could do this with, for Blish was of the same planet as she.::
~ There are four spirits in the jungle tonight Blish, and all make their way to the city. ~ ::She thought to her friend so as to not interrupt her song.:: ~ One spirit is young and innocent, another annoyed and maturing, the third old and knowlegable, and a fourth which is young and dark. ~ ::She thought spoke. ~ I do not worry for my safty, but I do worry for the safty of the dark spirit. He has shrunken his spiritual powers and aura with lies, greed, hate, and violence. He is the typ of man we were sent here to keep out of the city.~ ::Silarit said as if Blish didn't already know this. Humans would look at Blish as if she were only a very odd looking animal, but Silarit knew better. Silarit knew that Blish was just as, and manybe even more intelligent then herself. Silarit had great respect for her friend, and when she spoke of worrying Lola's father she listened.::
~ I felt to warn him or he'd be more worried in the morning when Lola did not return right at sunrise. I did what my spirit said, I belive it was right. ~ ::Silarit said. She continued to dance and sing. It was a way of drawing down the moon, and building her spiritual energies. Silarit was pleased to wake everynight and find her spirit bigger, not smaller. This meant that during the day, Lola was a noble human, and did the right things. It made Silarits spirit grow, since she was sharing the same spirit with Lola. Silairt smiled while she spun in a graceful circle. It was the sorce of her powers and the reason she could not be defeated. Human's could not seem to understand their own spirits, and in turn were never able to make them grow properly. Although she ahd seem some impressive spirits, non have ever matched her own. Silarit sang.::

Ladian - January 26, 2004 02:11 AM (GMT)
"I do not doubt your spirits' decision. I only mean to suggest that next time you add more assurance that Lola will return."
Blish sat cross-legged on her large flat stone, and rested her head upon her front paws. She stared at the moonlight shimmering in the waterfall across from her, completely at peace.
"You should also know that the youngest spirit you feel is a human child which was abandoned by its parents. Lola and your father took it in, and it is spending the night with them. Your father tried to lock the child in a room, but she escaped. She said that your singing comforts her lonliness and puts her to sleep each night."
Blish looked up at the sky and saw a shooting star. Lola would have liked to wish on them, she thought, could she ever see one. It was strange; when Lola was Lola, Blish missed Silarit. But when Lola was Silarit, Blish missed Lola. She felt lonely that her two very best friends could never meet each other, though they shared the same body. Blish sighed. Her mother had told her this would happen. Of course. Mothers had a way of always knowing what was going to happen. Blish sighed sadly again, as Lola could never know her mother, either. She comforted herself with the fact that perhaps someday Lola would be a mother. That would somehow make it okay.

::Angie skipped into the jungle. The music was exciting tonight and Angie felt not the least bit sleepy. She giggled and ran towards the pretty singing which was getting louder. A blue glow began to form in front of her. Angie ran towards the growing light, breathless with excitement at what she'd find just through the last thicket of trees... Angie burst through a brush and stopped. About 20 yards ahead of her there was a girl dancing and a big animal. Angie stopped. What lay ahead was too bright to see.. It glowed so brightly like the moon. Angie could not take her eyes off the girl.::

Lola? ::She whispered..::

It would take Angie two or three hours to find the city, not three minutes, but I'll roll with it.))

::Silarit had sensed the girl coming down the rocky path about a mile before she had arrived. Silarit had sensed that the first to reach her was the young innocent spirit, the one Blish had said Lola knew. Silarit stopped dancing and stood at attention facing the path's entrance across the pool. She stood tall and strieght her spear at her side, starring with her pupiless white eyes across the water. She waited, and a while later the little girl appeared. Silarit could see her small form from across the pool, and she sword she heard the girl call her "Lola." Silarit didn't blink or show emotion, but was confused to as how this girl could ahve possibly recognized her human form. As Silarit was now, she did not resemble Lola int he slightest. Not even the tiniest feature remained the same. Silarit's eyes narrowed as she assessed the new comer. Since the girl was closer, Silarit could sense more details about her spirit. She was small, and undeveloped, yes, but Silarit noticed that human childrens spirits were often stronger then adults, which had always puzzeled her. It was so in teh girl Angie. Her spirit was strong despite her age.::
"This place you have saught and reached is forbidden for humans to enter. I can not allow you to pass. However, I sense you mean no harm, so I shall befriend you, human of small yet strong spirit."

Blish watched as Silarit and Angie communicated with each other. How had the girl recognized Silarit as Lola? Did she have the ability to sense spirits, as well? For though Lola and Silarit looked nothing alike, they did share the same body. Where one was, the other was, and though Silarit was awake right now and Lola asleep, Lola was still inside. Blish knew this because she could sense Lola, faintly, but it was difficult because the Silarit's awake spirit so overpowered Lola's sleeping one. It was just the same but vice versa during the day. Blish studied the girl Angie. She also kept her attention focused on the other spirits in the woods, especially the malicious ones.
