Cara Tigris was the finest student her school had ever produced. She was the embodiment of The Sacred Pearl. It was for this reason she had been chosen to hunt down and assassinate the one who had in ages past stolen her schools sacred symbol. It was also for this reason that she had been given her school's most secret power icon.. The moon pearl. She had not been told its exact usage. only warned that it held immense power. If she was clever enough she would learn to use it. If she was not she would die.
She had been given only one other warning. There would be other ninja from other schools who would seek to thwart her quest and gain the prestigious of their emblem. From her position on the roof top of one of the cities many tall building she could see the night lights of the city stretching for what seemed like endless miles. She then leapt in to the darkness.. to meet her fate.
Koji sat in his room in a leaning chair with his feet on a nearby coffee table with his eyes closed twirling a needle in his hand. He thought about what was to come in the future of the Lusting Anglers. His brother and sister were at the age when they were to start doing missions. this scared Koji just a tad, Fuu was not the one to plan ahead, while Hanzoh can't fight up close. "I'm thirsty" he announced to the empty room opening his eyes.
He tossed the needle with a quick flick of his wrist and guided it to a far away dart board "bulls eye". He rose from the wooden chair with a big groan and a nice long stretch of his arms and back. His bare feet patted the mattresses on the ground producing a smacking noise as he stroled past all the art work hanging on the wall. He gazed up at one of the pieces which was titled "another day another kill" which was also the motto of the LA. The oil painting was nothing special in his eye, all it was, was his grandfather in his youth standing upon a rock above a valley which seemed to be bottomless, but you wouldn't be able to tellw ith all the fog in the painting.
"I wonder who painted that?" he scratched his head and thought nothing of it, it wasn't his style to dig into things to deep. Koji grabbed the doorknob of the nearby door and gave a firm twist, but stopped half way. Koji smiled "stupid, you're not suppose to use that much weight".
Katsumo stood silently before his sensei staring at the sealed envelope in his hands. He continued to do so as if he was in a trance until his sensei spoke.
"Katsumo. The time has arrived for you to take on the trials of the school of eroding plains. Are you prepared?"
Katsumo Ruydon, better known as Chasm had been waiting for this day for years. All of his training had been leading to this moment. He would complete the trials, and master the ways of the earth.
"I am ready sensei."
"Very good. You may open the envelope when you exit the building. It contains the details of your first trial."
"Yes sensei. I will succeed."
Without another word being spoken he left the presence of his sensei, and left the hallowed grounds of the school. Standing just outside the front gate, he carefully opened the envelope. Thoroughly he read through the letter. It said:
"Chasm. Your first trial is to help an old woman across a busy street. Return to the School of Eroding Plains upon completion of this trial."
"You've got to be freakin' kidding me..."
As Chasm stood there in disbelief, he could make out the soft sounds of laughter coming from within the school.
