*Clara hadn't done much since Kael had so coldly rejected her back in the waiting room aside from recount her collection of different arrows. A few simple steel shafts, a couple more of her more exotic arrows, explosive, flammable, shredders, all of her favorites and then some. One would easily think that her quiver would be over burdened, but this was far from the case. Clara was a resourceful fighter and huntress, she only carried as much arrows as she needed for the job. Unfortunatly this may have been a problem in this new world, there was no promise of her arrows being restored fight after fight.

Finally, Clara's time had come again and she was called to battle. And just like before, the retrivers had used the same crude manner of matter transportation and when she had emerged she had a most rude awakening.
Wind, a horrible wind pressed against her body and her wings immediatly whipped back and began to drag her down. She almost immediatly fell to the ground, it was like being caught in a hurricane! Maybe even a torando or tempest. Her arrows would've easily have been plucked from her quiver had she not tightened their fastenings. The more she tried to stand again, the more her own body would work against her. Damn wings.... she thought, tucking them into her sides as she wobbled to her feet, trying to keep utop of the narror metal platform she stood upon. A screech against the nearby trees told her that this was no natural wind, rather it was the product of movement! This platform, it was moving at a tremendous speed, she wondered if her opponent was having nearly as difficult a time getting his bearings, which reminded her...

Clara didn't even know who she was fighting til she looked up again, her still unmasked face choked by coral strands of hair that lashed against it. So her opponent was the girl from eariler, not the dead one but the "princess" that the dog boy was infatuated with. Though Clara didn't exactly pin her down immediatly as a competant fighter, she kept her mouth shut about her abilities, which meant that she had to be more than capable in combat. Clara gritted her teeth and readied her bow, juggling that, her arrows, and her wings as she desperated tried to keep them stapled to her sides with her arms.

Once again they had come for her. Lisa hoped that her peace would not be so short lived. She thought of her first fight and how hard it had been, and that had only been in the primary round. This fight, this battle was going to be much harder. Her opponent was Clara, the small girl who had defeated the very competent-looking Kael. “At least I’m unwounded.” She said to herself as she was teleported.

Lisa’s feet touched down on the ground, but just like her peace, her balance did not last long. The second she was no longer supported by the method of transportation, she hit the ground face first. Her ribs began to ache a bit. “Off to a terrible start.” Her constant inner voice chimed in. “Just focus on the fight.” She turned her head upward and spotted Clara, she wasn’t doing much better. Clara was twisting in the wind like a flag. “This battle is going to be downright impossible! I can’t use my plants in this wind and without the ability to balance, I’ll be unable to do much besides lay here and wait for her to kill me.” Lisa reached down and took grasp of a steel bar the ran across the roof of whatever it was she was riding. She pulled herself across the car’s covering, one hand planet firmly on the metal beneath her, and one wrapped tightly around the bar.

“Maybe if I…” Lisa was a mere ten feet from Clara, she knew it was probably a very bad move to be in so close, but this was the only chance at winning this fight that she could devise at the time. Lisa snaked her leg off to the side for a moment, and bent her knee so that she could hang onto the bar with it. With her now free, left hand she reached into the pocket of her jeans and pulled out the head of a flower. It had probably been very fragrant but now it was plucked from its stem, and even if it had any aroma Lisa could not smell it in this torrent or wind. Lisa reached her left hand behind her back, holding the flower and with her right summoned her weapon. The slender silver blade to match her smooth, wiry body appeared in her hand and was grasped immediately so that it wouldn’t fly off in the wind. She stuck her right pinky out and began to waggle it a bit, she could feel the energy growing in her left hand, forcing the flower to expand. Within seconds the plant would reach a size big enough to use as a wind shield, but that wasn’t quite what this shrewd blonde had in mind. “BINGO!” She spoke in her mind. She unhooked her leg and opened her left hand at the same time, fanning out the fingers on her left hand as she did so. The flower behind her burst open into an array of golden yellows and deep oranges. Lisa forced herself to her feet and the flower caught her in its flight. She was now speeding toward Clara, sitting in a flower and brandishing her sword. With maybe a second left to go Lisa swung her blade in a diagonal motion from Clara’s left shoulder to right hip, hoping to slice the nymph open in one shot.

Crossknight - October 28, 2004 08:12 PM (GMT)
*Lisa's entrance hadn't been quite as frantic as Clara's, for the princess had quickly recovered and before the half nymph could even consider herself ready Lisa had managed to catapult herself toward, a magical blade pointed outward during her charge. A large floral mass was her vessel, it had not rooted yet somehow astonishingly had remained steady and grounded. Were all manners of floral life this way in Lisa's world? Clara hadn't seen anything like it in her years of wandering.

Normally, this attack would be easy to avoid, her small figure and unearthly agility as well as a sheltered life of leaping treetop to treetop had seasoned her well and made Clara able to easily bob and weave through multiple obstacles. However, Clara had other things to worry about as well, mostly her cumbersome wings, which flapped and whipped the cold surface where she stood with deafening cracks even when she tried to stifle them. Not to mention she hadn't been completely motivated, she still thought about Kael, whose dreams of living happily again were nearly crushed by her in an attempt to spare herself from pain. Stop thinking that, anyone else would've done the same thing in your position. He became a savage beast in the battle, and he is not your friend! A prying voice cried.

She had only been able to stand upright for a mere moment before Lisa's sword had come downward, attempting to cleave her body in two. Clara jumped back and rolled to the left, gripping the small lanes protruding from the sides of the train with one arm and clamping her bow to the ground with the other. She then swung around, landing on her feet. A dull pain still burned in her back. The wings still tugged at her, she was going to need to stop that soon enough, but for now she needed to counter attack while her opponent was open.. Clara thought about retaliating by pulling out her daggers and attacking, for she was certain that she was better with blades than the princess, however she couldn't really predict anything on this moving goliath that carried the two. However, that flower she rode upon, it had no roots, and was only a mere extension of a wilted head. It could be pretty unstable, looked that way. Perhaps Lisa wasn't as calculated a fighter as Clara first thought, for the plant wasn't even stretched across the sides of the vehicle. If I take it out, she might fall, that'd end the fight! Clara didn't know how high up she was, and didn't care to look down to find out, so she of course had some hesitations about seriously hurting her adversary, but if she wanted to fulfill this wish of hers, she'd have to. She'd do it to make her everything in her world happy and right again, even if she had to step on everyone that got in her way.

Her wings still wafting through the air, Clara had started to grow used to the tugging pains, she again readied forth her bow and brought her quiver to her shoulder. A small twinge of pain shot through her. Lisa had proven herself to be quite agile herself, for even with Clara's dodging she had managed to lay a gash across her upper arm. It wasn't the only problem, upon bringing her hand back down, Clara felt a few light brushes down her hand. Small red bundles of fabric...her quills! No, it couldn't be! But it was, maybe Lisa wasn't aiming for her head at all, but counted her on dodging, now at least half of her arrows were chopped from the end! Useless! No, no no no no no! Not now, please still be in there! she begged herself as her thin fingers quickly sifted through her collection, most of the harder to replace arrows had been destroyed, damn, she could've used them. A bit more searching and...success! She pulled a long arrow with a small red vial underneath the tip, it was held under a few layers or cloth, lest the highly volatile liquid inside combust while she wore it around her back! But a shot of this and that plant would surely fry, she just had to make sure to get away quickly, it was still pretty close to her. She pulled the bow back halfway, waving her body back and forth to hold her balance. And seconds after initially rolling to the side of Lisa's attack, her counter was ready!

Here ya go, princess! She fired, falling backward onto her back, waiting for that rush of heat to bring her satisfaction.

Lisa's attack had failed, but instead of its original aim, it had done something possibly more useful. Lisa saw the arrows of her opponent, possibly half of them, destroyed by her blade. "SCORE!" But in a second more she had passed her foe, and now she couldn't see Clara.

The back of her neck was suddenly heated to an extreme temperature. Lisa rolled from her perch in the giant flower and hit the top of the speeding goliath. Thinking quickly, she grabbed the pole that ran parallel to the roof of the train so that she wouldn't fly off the side. The previously enormous flower withered and burnt as it crashed to the ground. She needed a second to regain her composure, but figured she wouldn't get it. She could smell burning hair. "GOD DAMN IT!"

Lisa forced herself to her feet and struggled in the wind. She held her blade in front of her and turned sideways to face Calra in a fencing position. She tightened her leg muscles and braced herself.

Crossknight - December 2, 2004 09:53 PM (GMT)
*It was a miracle that guided her arrow to the large plant in this wind, and Clara sat up with a smirk of satisfaction on her face. Her plan worked! For once, something had gone right in this damn tournament! The nyphm's eyes lit up as she crawled toward the burning leaves of the plant, watching them dance and twist back to their roots in agony until they too ignited in a symphony of flame. The heat...so familiar from her last encounter.

Kael...Clara thought, grinning a grin. Maybe more than one thing was going right after all. However, the half-nymph's victory was short lived as she heard Lisa stomp at her side and beckon her to combat. She stood upright, and towered over the hunkered- down fairy. Is she crazy?! Standing tall on this thing?! Whatever world Lisa had come from must have been full of barbarians, Lisa had hints of a determination that Clara had never seen, she was also capable with a weapon and almost as agile as Kael or ever herself...

Clara slid on one leg, using the other as a pivot and faced Lisa, she leaned back as far as she could to stay close to the ground, her foremost leg extended out in front of her and her other bundled underneath. Her wings fanned behind her, and catching them, Clara hurried to stuff them into the bindings that kept her quiver attatched.

That should do it! Finally she met Lisa's challenge and pulled her daggers from their housings next to her thigh, she held them close to her chest as she inched toward Lisa. She had fought swordsmen before, all of them were the same, they all waited for you to attack and then they ran you through. Clara would have to be the aggressor to break this stalemate, and she had no objection to playing this role as she brought her arm back and then craned it forward in a wild swing to hurl one of her daggers at Lisa. A diversionary tactic again, and probably a bad habit she had grown into over the years. Clara rolled to the side again, hoping to be closer to Lisa. A gust of cold wind ran up her back, she was near the side of the train, the ends of her wings whipping slightly even underneath the wrappings, obscuring the long view below. A devilish ploy cycled into her head, and again she smiled. She let her wings out of their bindings and like a mighty sail they immediatly shot into the wind, Clara let out a small yelp of pain, but it'd be worth it. As the dazzling coral and charcoal wall danced in the air in a distracting promenade Clara lended her attack, her second dagger aimed toward the heart of her opponent, she pressed forward. The wind whipping in her ears became more high pitched as she moved forward, this machine was about to go into an area much smaller than this outdoor track...

Neither of them had sustained any serious injuries yet; for this, Lisa was rather grateful. She wanted to prevent a repeat performance of her last bloodbath of a fight. The flesh on her arms rose into goosebumps, miraculous, seeing as how not that long ago, those arms were covered in blood and wounds. Lisa studied Clara as she stood, and prepared herself for a clean thrust, one that would end it quickly. One thing bothered Lisa though, her father had always taught her that honor was the most important thing in battle, and so Lisa waited, contemplating her next move, she waited, going over all the strikes that she knew.

Clara stood and turned, and Lisa still waited. Finally the thing she had quested for was in her mind, the perfect way to battle against knives, and not a moment too soon as a small dagger came flying at her. "Not too quick, not too slow, don't swing too early, or too late. Must get it just right." With the slightest motion of her shoulder, she created a whiplash movement in her arm that eventually flowed out through the sword, and smacked aside the first dagger. Inside, Lisa celebrated a bit, but kept her eye on Clara, who was moving in a very strange way. "What is she doing?" Lisa asked herself. Clara was facing her, motionless. "Time to go on the offensive!" She told herself.

Quickly bounding to her front foot, Lisa propelled herself forward and thrusted toward Clara's right shoulder. Luckily for Lisa, Clara was blocking a substantial amount of wind.

((Sorry for the month delay))

*Normally, Clara would have described Lisa's offensive was weak at best, consisting of only singular attacks, yet this time thanks to the half-nymph's foolish and failed tactic the blow was aided with an improved quickness not yet seen on the cursed battlefield. Clara again rolled to the side, her primary defensive menuver during this battle. However, this time she wasn't fast enough, and that familiar sharp tugging was felt at her back followed by a pinging ripping sound, Lisa's blade had caught another target, an unintentional one; one of Clara's dead wings. Fortunatly, though cumbersome they are also thick and leathery, she felt little pain and only stumbled slightly before the wing fought itself free of Lisa's blade. Clara used her arms to keep her balance as she avoided tumbling to the ground.

Allright, so the daggers aren't too effective, maybe I should stick with my bow. Clara again reached behind her, but before her hands met the twisted silver bow, she looked up and gasped, a low wall was quickly approaching...it would appear that the vehicle was going to travel inside, at least the tracks that dictated it would suggest that. Clara wanted to yell "Get down!" to her opponent, but she had finally begun to understand the game, you had to be ruthless if you wanted to win...and with Lisa's gift with plants completly trumping Clara's minimal ability, her fighting would have to be brutal and unsurpassed, for she could not weild any special projectile other than her bow. Clara quickly grabbed it and loaded another particularly special arrow, one of her last thanks to Lisa, one with a rope attatched to it's end with a special drill-bit like tip that reacted to strong impact that caused it to retract and cling onto most surfaces even with a large loade at the rope attatched (it had to be padded inside her quiver like her explosive ones.). If she could distract Lisa, maybe she won't be able to notice the wall on time, either that, or the rope would come in handy. For in order for Clara to use her gifts against Lisa, she would have to be very close...thinking back, when Lisa attempted to stab her just moments before would have been a good time to act. With this fresh in her mind, she again fired and her plan was launched. She smiled as the rope of the arrow slid a few feet from her before stopping and immediatly gaining more slack as the two combatants moved close to it, and yet something seemed wrong as she unloaded her bow. She felt a particular light, aloft sensation low in her body. No....not now... It had been four years since she had last felt the bizarre phenominon her half human reproductive system "gifted" her with, but it seemed that she carelessly lost track of her body months ago...

Lisa wasn't dumb enough to let an arrow go unnoticed. She ahd made the mistake of underestimating the power of such weapons in her last fight and didn't intend upon making it again. "A rope?" Lisa watched as the drill arrow struck the stone and latched on.

"Thanks for showing me." Without hesitating another moment she pulled a handful of flower petals from her pocket and scattered them to the wind. With a flick of her left wrist they became stationary in the torrent or passing air. Lisa twirled her fingers about for a split second, making sure to get them into the exact right position with each movement. The petals suddenly became as blades, sharpened to an edge that would sheer wet wool in a heartbeat. "I can do this!" Lisa thrust her plam forward, and as she did the petals raced toward Clara, hoping to cut her to ribbons. "Can't let myself get hurt though." Lisa dropped down to the train's roof and watched Clara, while laying flat as they approached the tunnel.

Crossknight - January 16, 2005 05:05 PM (GMT)
*Well, that one blew up in my face... Clara thought, wincing a bit, ignoring the light sensation in her bodyand cunningly menuvering the rope around. All was not lost in her plan, in fact Lisa just might have made it work out even better for her. Instead of rushing to attack Clara, she had instead taken a path of sloth and defense and bided her time low to the surface of the vehicle's roof of course meeting her arrow with a projectile of her own. Sliced petals raced through the air with an expert precision, the master of focus and concentration, this Lisa was. Something needed to happen, and soon, Clara was beginning to run low on arrows and she couldn't depend much on her minimal swordfighting skills against the length of Lisa's blade compared to hers. Not only that, but she carelessly threw away one dagger earlier. She would have to now end the match as quickly as possible, she would have to use her dark gift that she unleashed on Kael...

It would be able three seconds tops before the train passed underneath the tunnel, Clara had to move fast as the rope dangled ceaselessly as it gained more and more slack the closer the half-nymph came. Clara had a few experiences with ranged encounters, and her teathered impact latch arrows were extremly useful at these times, a way to quickly close the distance between her and her opponent, and thanks to her almost unmatched skill with a bow she could easily take her adversary to death. The rope fell limply behind Lisa...and Clara hatched her plan.

Turning her back and wrapping the thick black rope around her wrist Lisa raced backwards from the petals, her immense agility allowed her run atop of the behemoth as it raced forward, her own body gaining considerable distance with each stride, until the rope began to get tighter and tighter as the train passed into the tunnel. Ignoring the bump that came from the transitition to the clean, lower gauge rails inside of the tunnel Clara continued to run, looking back to check the ropes position...Yes, it would work out perfectly, the way the rope fell behind and snaked around Lisa, probably wasn't a split second later that it had found it's way under Lisa, she had no chance to react or cut the rope, lest she wanted her head lobbed off by the ceiling of the tunnel, no choice but to be swept off of the train by the rope, or have it wrap around her and either dangle her helplessly from the entrance or if Clara was extremly lucky the rope would have found it's way around her neck and simply snap it in two. Finally the end of the train was in site, and by now the weight of the rope was almost unbearable, and she gritted her teeth as she pulled forward and leapt from the back of the machine, Lisa's petals harmlessly flew overhead. But yet Clara could not risk the end of the match being a stalemate, and though after seeing the little spat between her and Edmund at the conclusion of their match in the waiting room, she did not believe that the outerworlder could resist letting her get away, there was always that impossible chance that she had somehow managed to get around the rope, the possibility of how to do so elluded Clara herself...and if there was one thing that scared her, it was being able to do something that she wouldn't even know how to reverse if she were on the recieving end...

It would appear that luck had smiled on Clara, if only for a split second as a security railing of some sort was on the back of the vehicle. A small view window as well, which appeared empty, Clara took hold of the handle, her arm immediatly wrenched nearly out of it's socket, her other arm on the unyielding rope and her body nearly ripped in half...she gave a loud grunt as she pulled her body in and onto a little platform, wings and all and kept hold of the rope, as she passed into the tunnel the rope began to pull her arm the other way and she quickly uncoiled it to two wraps. Any second now the weight on the other side of the rope would tumble overhead, if it was Lisa, Clara would let go of the train and force the two to fight on the rope, if not, Clara would let go of the rope and wait for Lisa to come to her...either way, she would have to decide in about half a second. It was around this time and her body went cold, and Clara began to menstruate. Damnit...this better be it! she sighed in relief despite the obvious situation, certain that even if her plan didn't work out the way she wanted, she would at least be able to bait Lisa to her, and it was always better to have it that way. Clara smiled and took solace as the wind wasn't so fierce in this little alcove behind the vehicle, she had been running around dodging projectiles the whole fight so far, it felt good to catch her breath, even if her mind raced to think of all the ways the fight could end in the next few seconds. She prayed that it'd be soon, as her body now began to fight against her.

Sacrificial Hero - January 23, 2005 04:24 AM (GMT)
"What in the sage's name is this girl trying to pull off?"Lisa sked herself as she contemplated Clara's actions For her life she could not decipher the plan that Clara had concocted. She pushed herself up and peered toward the back of the train where Clara had disappeared. She felt a slight tug at her ankle and dismissed it for a second before it took her by surprise again, this time dragging her toward the end of the train. Helplessly she reached for anything to grab, but the tunnel was dark and she couldn't see. Suddenlt she felt the support beneath her disappear and she fell. It was no more than a second of dreading her landing before she was suddenly suspended in mid-air. There she hung, gazing into the lit train, seeing Clara's face peering out at her.

"CRAP!" Her hand darted up toward her tight pocket and pulled from it, a stem from a flower. "Perfect." WIth a few flicks of her finger the stem grew at an alrming rate, sharpening and plunging stright through the steel train, aimed directly for Clara's chest.

Crossknight - January 26, 2005 04:30 PM (GMT)
*A wide smile spread across Clara's face as she watched Lisa fly above her and then helplessly dangle in front of her. Finally! It was the just the opportunity she needed to win this match. She had to make sure she was quick, though, as the train went further into the tunnel the rope around her arm tightened and began to pull her away. She had been foolish to have kept the rope coiled around her arm so, she wouldn't be able to undo the job on time. She'd have to cut off the rope, but she needed her other hand to keep hold of the train!

Clara cursed silently, what a predictament! She had been on a roll, tonight! But she can't finish the job! Again she was forced to work against the clock, as she hesitantly released the train rail and grabbed for one of the daggers fasted to her leg. Immediatly she began to be pulled to the side, and by the time she had finally gotten the knife she started to get pulled from the platform of the train!

DAMNIT! she cried in anguish, but she wouldn't stop there, jumping from the platform she reached up and cut the rope from her wrist, effectively stranding Lisa overhead and in the tunnel. But Lisa had her own plan, one that worked in Clara's favor, a long stem, stretched to a long point thrusted toward her as her body danced in the wind. It had come into contact with her right wing that slapped against the half-nymph's body as she flew in the air. It easily punched through and proceeded through Clara's shoulder, throwing her back and stapling her to the back of the train. Though her vision grew hazy and her lower body ached like all hell and froze, she still laughed, despite gagging inbetween. There didn't appear to be any poisons in the stem, and it missed any organs, didn't mean it didn't sting like a bitch, of course. But it was Clara that managed to stay in the arena, and Lisa who was not, the retrievers HAD to take that into account. She leaned over, and tried to grip her aching side, but her feet didn't even touch the seat of the platform from here Lisa had managed to pin her.

Though it was hardly an appropreate time, Clara could not stop her mind from wandering off despite the pain both from Lisa's attack and her own body's untimely rebellion, thinking about all that has transpired so far in the tournament, she had fought the fiercest of opponents, and god willing, she'd go on to face even stronger ones...the more she used her power, the less human she would be, and the more her adversaries may know...I didn't..have to hurt her...I didn't have to use my gift. Clara muttered happily. The moonlight hit her face once more as the train left the tunnel from it's other side. She wasn't very worried, a feeling of ease that she had felt blessed to feel after the hectic battle she was just in...even if Lisa could somehow conjure up some flower projectile that could catch up to her on the moving train, she'd make sure she was ready for it.

"NO!" Lisa screamed out as she watched her dreams run away from her, down a dark tunnel; the blinding lights of the train, of hope, were now just specks on the horizon. She held in her hand, a memento of he weakness, the only thing still linking her to those hopes and dreams...the stem. Indeed, this stem that had once been a piece of that hope, a tool of those idealistic aspirations, was now but a souvenir, existing only to strike through her heart methaphorically, as it had through Clara quite literally; and to extend evermore to those dreams, always reminding her that she was but an inch away from realizing them. All of these things boiled within her and writhed beneath her skin. Warm water began to leak out from behind her eyes, this time there was no mascara to run, no make up to ruin, only the very real feeling of her warm tears on her cold skin. The relief from that usually came from crying didn't occur though, instead her emotions only bult up more and more.

"CLARAAAAAAAA!" She knew her screams were pointless, that Clara would never hear her. "I'M NOT DONE WITH YOU!" Her despair was being overcome, overwhelmed, pushed aside by fury. Her muscles were no longer under her control, they were moving on their own, in a way that seemed more than familiar, almost as though she was getting deja vu.

*
"Stay back Lisa!" Little Lisa hid behind a tree as she watched her father dispose of monster after monster without drawing his sword. She watched and studied his movements, the way his fingers and arms swung as he summoned plants and manipulated them. His form was flawless, she could tell from a few moments of combat that he had trained for years to perfect his craft.
*

"Daddy...your style..." In all her practice she had never been able to perfect it, but now in her moment of dire need, it came to her. She wondered if he had been in control when she saw him do it, or if he was simply being guided as she was.

"THIS IS IT!" From the stem burst forth thorns, thorns of incredible size; five feet each at least. Progressively they grew from the stem, getting closer and closer to the speeding train. Within seconds they'd reach Clara and jab straight through her.

Crossknight - February 5, 2005 04:07 PM (GMT)
*The wind didn't catch much behind the big train, and with the beams of moonlight came a beautiful warmth, despite the fact that most of her body ached, Clara could consider herself to be almost relaxing, she nearly let down her ready stance.

Nearly...that was until she looked up again. The stem...it was...it was massive! Inside the dark tunnel it looked like it couldn't have been more than a five foot long spear, but outside you could clearly see that it stretched far into the tunnel and beyond. Lisa...., she's controlling the stem, and her attack was still unfinished. No time to rest just yet, thorns now began to shoot from the stem, spikes jutted out of various crevices of the stem and quickly started to make their way to Clara, the stem even grew, each at an alarming rate, keeping up with the moving train. A stunning display, Lisa was truly a master at controlling plant life, indeed a fearful ability. But at the core of things, she was backed into a corner. Still, her focus, even during this was unrivaled.

And yet Clara was backed into a corner as well, or more approately pinned to the wall, she reminded herself as she looked down to the thick crimson liquid that splattered against the bust of her leather suit and slowly ran down from there, forming a coppery-smelling soup that was smeared all over the side of her torso. Clara had her own gift, though. One she dreaded using, and one that her last opponent Kael had failed to pass onto the rest of the rest of the fighters in this tournament. She placed her hand onto the stem. I know you're holding onto the other side, Lisa...we have a direct link now. and with that, Clara focused the pain of the stem that stabbed through her and like a strong current going through a thin line, the stem too had it's fill as it heated up and burst as the siphoned pain coursed through on it's way to Lisa. Clara hoped that Lisa was quick enough to let go of the stem before the pain reached her, otherwise she'd be in for a rude awakening. Clara's own pain however had receeded shortly, the remnants of the stem were pushed out of her wound as it began to sew itself up and seal, leaving only the soupy blood and a punctured hole on her suit.

Finally, Clara was alone on the train, perhaps she did finally shake off her persistant opponent, but as most things have come to be expected by her in this tournament, she again had little time to celebrate as once more her body began to fight against her as powerful cramps struck her after her menstruation and her knees buckled. Her body began to burn, the throes of a blinding pain licked at her, demanding her to submit.

She struggled to keep hold of the platform until she finally came to the door and kicked it down, stepped inside and fell against a nearby wall as air was quickly sucked out of the train. She lay screaming in agony as the near incapacitating pain almost crippled her. The half-nymph may not have remembered the last time this had happened to her, but she did know that now it was far worse.

Is this what happens when I use my power?! she questioned. It didn't happen when she fought Kael...but at the same time...Clara tried to push this to the back of her mind as she looked out of the back of the train, trying to see if Lisa could possibly do anything, it seemed to be of the least likelyness possible. Despite the pain (Clara was getting better at trying to ignore it), there was one thing that Clara could take solace in, Lisa was gone, she was thousands of yards away from her, even if Clara could see her, she most likely wouldn't be able to shoot her with even her highest range longbow.

If there was one thing she had picked up during this fight, the one thing she would carry with her the rest of her life, it was that Lisa Muri was persistant.

But even she had to have limits.

I know you're holding onto the other side, Lisa...we have a direct link now.

"Huh? What are you-" THose were all the thoughts she managed to muster as a current of pure agony foudn its way to her hand, up her arm, and made a home in her chest. She could feel the pain as though it was a tangible object, moving through her, expanding and contracting with her heartbeat. It was only a second, but it felt as though an eternity passed. With one last expansion her skin began to tear just below her throat; her blood splattered out, free of the constraints of veins and artiries. Her eyes went wide as she watched her own life fall to the ground. Her hands flew up to her chest, but at the edge of the hole she recoiled, not wanting to touch it. Blood flew up her trachea now, leaking from between her lips. She could barely breath and she was growing colder with each second. Her vision began to go blurry and a second later she fell limp after a final sentiment.

"Forgive me..."

Lisa Muri's body hung from the rope and the stem that had been in her hand hit the ground. It seemed as though Clara had simply been too much for her. The lights from the train finally faded over the horizon as the tunnel went dark, concealing her body in the abyss of sorrow and blackness.

This was a close one, I will admit. For the first few posts Sean was in the lead. Basically because his attacks were just really friggin cool. Also, something that really brought Bates down on my point system were his very long and very confusing posts. Sean would throw an attack, and Bates's character would have been thinking entire monologues before he even ackgnowleged Sean's attack. This made the battle I was seeing in my mind go very slowy. Also, I had to re-read much of what Bates wrote, simply because it was confusing in the way he worded things. I was almost certain I would give this battle to Sean...until the end.
What finally turned me off to Sean's writing was when he stayed tangled up by the rope for three or four posts. It's just that his character wasn't moving around at all. She stayed in the same posistion for the entire second half of the battle. Despite all the other things that were going on...I REALLY wanted to see Lisa do some more. Especially with all the gifts she has, I'm sure she could have found a way to either cut herself free or de-tangle herself.
So, again to be completely honest it was a real tough decision. Bates gave me a little more action, but both players were terribly creative. I'm going to give it to Sean just because of the way Bates made his posts very long winded, and sometimes confusing.

Sean 8.5
Bates 8

Clara - 10
Lisa - 9

That was one of the best matches I've ever read. Both of you were at the top of your games, and it showed. The one thing that put it over the edge for Clara was the way the writer had her getting some "pains", if you will. I really liked that, since you almost never see something like that in movies or stories. But good job to both of you!

My votes are this. Sorry for the closeness, but I did feel it came close.

Brian: 9
Sean:7

Overall very good match. Sean surprised me, I expected him to Goldberg but he actually did quite well not to.
