Title: Battalion

Billy Shears - September 20, 2004 02:27 AM (GMT)
Kin laid in a lackidasical type slump, allowing his small body to hang over a tree branch. Below him was the secluded area where he was schedualed a meeting.
A leveled circle of dirt, with thick tree stumps surrounding the small area. His captain had been there, but no one else.
Curious to check the status of things, Kin leapt downwards from his branch, bouncing off the others on his way down.
"Cap! Cap!" He yelled, just as his foot slid wildly sideways. "Ahh!"
He frantically shook on his way down from the high tree. He continued to fall freely, just to the last second when he had gained control of his mind. Several vines grew from the ground, along with faint whispers pertruding from Kin's mouth.
The green ropes spun tightly around his wrists and ankles, haulting him from the potential crash to the floor. He shut his eyelids tightly, and the vines released him.
"Cap! Where the heck is everyone else?"
He sturdy middle-aged man raised his eyebrow, frowning.
"With a stunt like that, I should throw you back into the Academy."
"Sorry, sir." The words were followed by the usual playful grin.
"Well, the meeting itself hasn't started yet. Though if they haven't arrived within the next few moments, I'll thrash them unlike anything known to this army."
Kin had already turned his attention away from the Captain, focusing on a patch of flowers behind the meeting circle.

((So, everyone just meet up there. You really won't discover the true details of the story until the meeting begins.))

Sacrificial Hero - September 20, 2004 04:26 AM (GMT)
Merishon...quiet...reserved...Chaplin. His back was weighed down by the enormous blade strapped to it. He had been told to meet in a place...a flat circle of dirt. "That helps a whole lot." He thought to himself. At the same time he asked himself why he had enlisted...but deep down he knew the answer. He knew what had driven him to take up his father's sword and use his gifts for the cause he believed in.

His armor clanked as he walked, chaplin armor was heavy...it had to be. Chaplins were possibly the most important unit on the field, at least, that's what Merishon thought.

"heh heh heh, seems as though I'm lost again" owl laughed in his old man laugh. (think of totosai's voice for this guy) Owl has recieved word to meet at a large circle of earth "well i think i know what their talking about....or maybe I don't, better just keep walking, I have good sense of direction you know" Owl spoke to himself. His back hunched over, he patted it to knock some of the pain out that plagues him in his old age.

Owl had just left a small town of about 50 people, he didn't sta long, just for a quick lunch. "hmmm come to think of it, who told me I was suppose to go to that place" he thougt to himself, he never had a clue to where he was going...ever. "oh well better just go, maybe they have good fish there, I'm hungry......or am I?. His case rattled while he strolled down the "path", his long stick made a clicking noise as he banged it against the ground to keep him standing, it was his favorite stick.

He shrugged it off and resumed his venture to the circle.

Keira appeared from between two trees. "Your directions were not clear." She said softly. Her brown hair was boyishly cut, and she wore loose breeches and tunic. Over both hands, she wore leather gloves. Around her waist was twin katana blades, the hilt wrapped in dyed-red leather. She had leather boots on.

She sat on one of the benches, and raised her eyebrows. "Next time, maybe describe the place." She nodded.

[Mind you, Keira looks like a boy.]

A Blue jay landed on the moss-covered tree branch next to him. It twittered excitedly, as Blue Jays were apt when they had good news.

"Show me, my friend."

As the Jay flitted off into the dense forest once more, Ral'Kun Farr gave chace. Sure as the Jay flew through the air, so did Ral'Kun fly along the ground. The Jay suddenly put on a burst of speed, and was gone, just like that. Never missing a step, Ral'Kun implored the Spirit that governed the wolves of this forest.

"Please, I must not be late, there is important work to be done that may save the lives of many wolves. Great leader of the Pack, grant me your speed."

Ral'Kun's legs were a blur now, and soon the Jay was in sight again. Matching its speed, in no time he came upon a clearing in the forest, surrounded by stumps, and containing a number of figures speaking amungst themselves.

"Have we begun yet?" Ral'Kun asked the crowd. Someone responded that they hadn't. Ral'Kun seated himself on a stump and waited.

((I get the hint, maybe I should have made the area detailed more..))

Kin was interested in the people behind him. To a further extent then he had been with the flower patch. His large gloves clamped around the stems of several plants with pinkish-red petals and he shoved them deep into his pocket.
Looking over to those who arrived with detail, he was dissapointed to only spot two. A figure with a boyish-appearence sat, and through squinted eyes Kin could tell it was a woman. Another man sat not far from her, and across from this man was the already-seen captain.
"So, we're still missing a bunch." He said, his vision flickering towards the flowers for a short moment. He slumped downwards onto a roughly-cut stump, and waited.

((Guys, stop looking and arrive.))

(that was gunna be the point of my second post)

Owl complained about the hill he was walking up "lousy hill, they're getting higher every year in my old age, gives me back aches" He talked aloud followed by a big hearty oldman laugh. There ahead of him stood some men, but upon getting closer, he discovered that one was a girl. "oh dear, kids are getting more and more bold these days" He greeted everybody.

"whats this no seat for a poor old man such as myself" Owl remarked sliding down his stick til his back end met the ground. He put the stik down on his lap and waited for everyone to gather. "This is to hard on an old man, next time make it somewhere close to my house, or in my house" he joked around and laughed his horse laugh again.

Cleric - September 21, 2004 01:46 AM (GMT)
Derrin rested his ever sharp greatsword blade against the orante armor he wore and brushed his long, blonde hair out of his eyes, having finally reached the meeting spot after an uneventful journey. He hadn't been briefed very well, but he was used to working that way. The demon hunters had little use for a man who had to have everything explained him, especially with the insidious and ever changing nature of their prey. Walking up to the group, he sat down on a tree stump and set his massive blade down.
"I was told to report here for further instructions, who are you, and why do you require the services of a demon hunter?"

Billy Shears - September 22, 2004 12:14 AM (GMT)
The captain grinned toothily, his large stomach hopping up and down as he chuckled. A large man, yet in no way was he a graceful one. As everyone arrived into the meeting circle, he began to stand and clear his raspy throat.
"Well, I'm glad to see you're all here." His mouth opened quite wide when he spoke, his pronunciation of each world was immensly powerful-sounding.
"So, Battalion Number Three, I hope you're prepared. Your first mission is a grand one, and it will take the full extent of your skills to complete it. In the north-west of our sector, far into the arctic region, an artifact is kept within the grasp of the Gunshey Temple. It's a dreadfully important object for the sealing of our victory. It is a pure Phoenix Tail, one of the rarest items within the entire planet. If we could harness it's essence, we can in turn create healing remedies for even the definite cause of death. It may be limited, but if used correctly, it may just give us a large advantage over our enemy.
"Yet, it is not this easy. Each must pass a test given by the Temple, for they have not even revealed the whereabouts of the Tail to a soul until the rising of the war. The tests are vigerous and incredibly mind-challenging, and sadly we do not know much more then this.
"Ev's soldiers will no doubt be after this as well. His informers are as quick as ours are, I could g'rntee. So, be ready for a fight, as well as anything else.
"You're departure time will be as soon as you are equipped. Good luck, our high hopes rely upon you."

Lowim Gallasin - September 22, 2004 09:57 PM (GMT)
"As soon as you're equipped" Ral'Kun had to laugh at that one. For a Barbarian, he traveled with little, as the majority of his ability was based on his Shamanistic prowess. Still, all Barbarians traveled relatively light, and were more than strong enough to carry their equipment wherever they went.

Still, the Shaman thought that he may as well use this time to fill his stocks of food, and he began his normal ritual of requesting the sacrifice of a noble Buck, as Ral'Kun would use the meat well, to fuel his body for worthy endevors. Much to his surprise, however, his request was denied, and he was violently haraunged by the angry spirits.

"You have the gall to ask for meat, when you actively seek the Pheonix Tail? You have defied our trust, and we will not relinquish one of our worthy children for your irreverent quest! You may hunt if you wish, but we will not sanction your foolhearty venture! Begone from our council!"

Ral'Kun stood a long time, shocked at what he had heard. He began asking the spirits what he had done wrong, what the Pheonix Tail was, why he should not seek it. It was all in vain. They would not answer. For the first time since he was a small boy, the spirits were silent to Ral'Kun. The easy thing would be to leave now. It would be so simple to cast the Battallion aside and return to his homeland, where he could gain back the trust of the spirits with the aid of his people.

But he couldn't.

The rebellion against the Overlord had to succeed. Ev's reign of terror would not end unless the rebellion ended it, and they needed Ral'Kun's help, indeed, any help they could muster. He could, after all, reconcile with the spirits along the way. In the mean time, he would hunt, something he had not had to do for years, due to his connection with the animals. Then, he would have to ask the pudgy captain about the Pheonix Tail. If the spirits were so angry with their searching for it, there had to be something that Ral'Kun hadn't been told yet.

Billy Shears - September 26, 2004 02:35 PM (GMT)
((I'm really sorry, there's no doubt I'm rushing this just to the limit. Though I know that if I don't throw us ahead a bit, the RPG will no doubt die. This'll be the last time I do it, sorry again.))

It was time to bring out their departure. The sun was ending its set, leaving a dull grey shade to blanket the skies. The War Base was quiet, and the nightly "feast" had most likley just finished.
The Captain's wide body stood at the exit, waiting to send off his squad. Kin had arrived early as usual, he always had time overflowing off his hands. His head bent over the edge of a thick branch, peering down at the captain. The captain's eyes were filled with irritation, as he tried not to make contact with the playful Kin.
..The skies grew darker..
