(To make things easier, I'll just post the physical description before each fight as a reminder)
Physical Description: Forge is very tall, and muscular. He wears a brown hooded trenchcoat with a flame pattern surrounding the bottom. Beneath the trench coat, he wears a black leather shirt with protective red padding covering his abdoman. His pants are brown with a flame design near the bottom, identical to his coat. He also has black boots, and a black leather belt. He wears a metal protective face mask that covers the lower portion of his face beneath his eyes. In a fight, he wears a pair of gloves, each with three pointed spikes attatched at the knuckles. The spikes are about three quarters of a foot long
***********************
As fate would have it, Forge would be the first to fight. Before he could respond to the words of the man in the ebony armor, he was transported to the location of the first battle. Surveying his surroundings, Forge could tell that he was in the heart of a volcano. A ring centered in a pool of lava... He was litterally surrounded by danger, not to mention the other participants and a seemingly overexcited audience. Fortunately, the possibillity of pain never bothered him.
"Hmm... My hibernation is not complete. Much of my energy has yet to return, but no matter... This place should fit my needs well..."
The heat was absolutely sweltering. A normal man could exhaust his energy by simply standing in such intense heat. Forge on the other hand was different. As the beads of sweat dripped down his face, he couldn't help but smile. Heat was one of the few things in life that he actually loved. In an atmosphere such as this, Forge's abillities were at their maximum potential. This heat could only fuel his attacks. Focussing his energy, he caused his hands to glow bright orange. The power of this volcano was beginning to make him feel stronger and stronger. First he thrust one hand to his right, and the other to his left. Right on cue, two small pillars of lava burst into the air from the pool below.
"Perhaps I won't need to finish my hibernation after all... This Krieger person shouldn't pose any trouble."
Forge once more looked over the ring. Krieger was still nowhere in sight. In fact the ring that would become a battle field seemed unsettlingly calm.
"They'll transport him soon enough. Although..."
Forge thought back to the room that he was first transported to. He had briefly looked over his potential opponents, but had not bothered to find out anything about them.
"Which one is he anyway?"
Finally feeling the same sense of anticipation that the audience must have been feeling, Forge stood tall, waiting for his opponent to arrive.

The young 19 year old Krieger entered the ring wearing a black kimono with red flames on it and a straw hat. he threw the hat and kimono into the audience where his mother and father were sitting.
"forge right.....i'm krieger, your opponent for this evening." krieger said as he materialized a pair of sais. his family except for his mother were able to generate their own sets of weapons, his fathers was a halberd, uncles was a sword, grandfathers was a trident and his sisters were a pair of tonfas. "so....lets get going" krieger said to forge.

At last, Krieger had arrived. Forge took one quick loook at him.
"Ah yes, that one. I may as well start off slow. He shouldn't be too much trouble."
Since being transported into the ring, Forge had not moved a single step, and through his arrogance, he didn't plan too. He had already displayed a small amount of his power to the audience, but Krieger had not seen it.
"I suppose an encore is in order..."
Once more focussing his energy, Forge's hands began to glow orange. As the bright light emanated ominously from his gloves, Forge stretched his arms out in front of him for Krieger to see. However, that was only the deversion. For what Krieger could not see, was the true nature of Forge's attack. As the two warriors stared at each other, another pillar of lava formed. This one behind Krieger.
'That's it. Just stay right there.'
Finally ready to launch his attack, Forge raised his hands into the air, and abruptly slammed them down to the ground. Right on cue, the lava pillar also rose into the air, and began its quick decent to the ground. Its target: Krieger.
'lets see what this kid can handle...'

Krieger looked up and was slammed with the lava. the lava surrounded the area he was in. it stayed that way for a few minutes but then from the ashes of the lava a huge flame errupted. Krieger staggered to his feat battered with second degree burns on his body surrounded by flames.
"that was good forge........" krieger said as the fire dispersed. "lets cool things down for a bit though" he said as his pupils turned icey blue and he shot ice beams from his hands. "come on forge....chill out" krieger said cockily.

Forge was quite taken back by what he had seen. His attack had made a direct hit, but Krieger shrugged it off as if it were just a minor annoyance to him. Not only that, he was already up and attacking.
'Incredible... The lava barely phased him. I though that I would be the only one with that kind of advantage. Hmm, this may be more interesting than I thought.'
Kriegers ice beam quickly fired directly at Forge. However, defiantly, Forge still refused to take a single step.
"Ice? Are you kidding me? We're in a volcano."
Once more, Forge pushed his arms out in front of him. This time however, he didn't simply manipulate the lava around him. This time, he created fire himself. In an attempt to cancel out Krieger's attack, he used his own arms as a makeshift flamethrower. As Forge had planned, when the two opposing forces made contact with eachother, the flames melted Kriegers ice attack, and the newly phased water extinguished Forge's flames. However, in Forge's haste, he hadn't planned the full outcome of the altercation. The ice had been stopped... But the water kept going. Before Forge could react, the water splashed into his face.
"Water.... I hate water...."
'Luckily, its so hot in here, I should be back to full power in no time.'
Under the intense heat of their surroundings, the water quickly evaporated.
"If that's the best you can do, I'd say you'd have better luck swimming to safety. Or if you wish to try your luck again, I'll be right here. I won't move... Honest."

KRieger began to get frustrated as he held up his sais and started to run towards forge. as he ran he became engulfed in devilish flames that would make the youngest of vhildren think he was the legendary El Diablo. 50 feet from forge he jumped in the air and threw his sais at forge. the sais themselves became part of the fire. those were just a meer distraction for when krieger was right above forge he created a sword made our of completely fire and swung down as he was landing. "TAKE THIS YOU POMPOUS WINDBAG!!"

Finally, it seemed that Krieger was getting serious. This attack had more strategy behind it. Three different weapons were being thrust towards him, and he couldn't hope to counter them all. After all, he had promised not to move out of the way, and his ego refused to let him break that promise.
While keeping his feet planted, Forge braced himself for impact and reached out with his hands. Concentrating as best he could, he used his left arm to grab one of the sais right out of the air. With the other, he reached up towards the flaming sword. As he did with the sai beforehand, he grasped the sword by the blade.
"You're a fool. I control fire! You can't harm me with such a meager attack!"
No sooner had his bellowing words been spoken, he had begun to absorb the fire into himself.
'Yes... more fire... more power... I might actually need it...'
After Kriegers attack was finished, Forge finally took a step back, and as a surprise to even him, stumbled, and fell to one knee.
Three attacks, but only two hands to defend himself. Slowly, Forge glanced down to his left shoulder. One drop of blood dripped to the pavement, then another, then another. Though he had stopped one sai and the flaming sword, one sai still remained. That final fated weapon now rested firmly lodged in his left shoulder.
'That... little punk...'
"It seems you've struck first blood... Unfortunately for you, it is I who will strike last."
After dropping the first sai at his feet, Forge Slowly removed the second from his shoulder. While his left arm hung motionless, he lightly tossed the second sai towards Krieger for him to catch. However, he didn't plan on just giving his opponent his weapon back. Before the sai reached Krieger, Forged jumped up and darted towards his opponent. Using his right arm, Forge punched forward, aiming at Krieger's chest. With the spikes attached to his glove, he could easily pierce the skin. The only question was how much damage could he deal.

KRieger was hit in the chest and his sai went right through his right hand. the spikes punctured his chest alright and he was bleeding profously. krieger then decided......he was gonna give forge all his energy, forge clearly wouldnt be able to hold all the energy in his body and would ultimatly cause his defeat. this tactic would leave him with no energy left for his elemental attacks.....but he would still have some energy left for a physical attack.
"y....you like hurting me dont you.......and i see you also like my energy" krieger said as he grasped forges wound after removing his sai from his hand and put his left palm on forges face and started pumping all of his energy into forges body. "THEN TAKE IT.....TAKE ALL THE ENERGY I HAVE YOU BASTARD!!!!!!!!" forge said as he continued pumping forge full of energy.

Forge's attack had been more effective than he had hoped. However, Krieger was still not close to defeat. The sheer determination in his eyes was still present, and his desire to win seemed stronger than ever. In a bold decision, Krieger had decided to take a big risk. After Forge had connected with his attack, Krieger grabbed his face and began to pump all the energy he could into Forge.
"That's right. Give me all the energy you want. You could never give me more than I can handle! I control all that is flame! You're energy can only make me-!"
Suddenly Forge's eyes widened. It was true that he could handle the fire based energy that Krieger had, but Forge neglected to be cautious of the other abillity that Krieger brought to the table.
"Ice..."
Kriegers energy now flowed within him, but opposite to Forge's expectations, he could not control it. As the ice energy coursed through his veins, Forge could feel his body becoming stiff and cold. For the first time in his life, he found himself shivering. The only relief he could find was that the cold had begun to numb the pain in his left shoulder.
"How can this-? I.. I can barely move."
Struggling to move, Forge slowly raised his right arm and pointed it at Krieger.
"How... Dare you... I'll make sure you burn in hell!"
Once more, flames erupted from Forge's hand. Their target, Krieger. However these flames were weak. Nothing compared to his first attack. The ice that flowed within him had made him substantially weaker. It would be a miracle if his attack could cause more damage on Krieger than a few embers could on a normal man.

Krieger was weak, real weak now. the embers that jsut appeared on his body hurt him a lot but he took it. by this time his sais had dissapeared because of his lack of energy. krieger had finished pumping all his energy into forge and backed off.
"try and deal with that........." krieger said as he made a fist. with the last bit of conciousness he had he threw a huge punch right at the face of forge and then collapsed.

Forge could see the attack coming a mile away. With what had become such limited amount of energy, Krieger continued to attack. In almost any other situation, he could have dodged the attack easily. Unfortunately, this wasn't any other situation. The ice continued to course through his veins. Forge was still having trouble moving, and he ceased to feel anything in his left arm at all. It would most likely be useless for the remaining duration of the fight. He would have to manage without it.
With few options to choose from, Forge knew that he could only hope to dodge the attack. Straining to break free from the stiffening bonds within that held him so steadilly, Forge slowly turned his head away. However, due to his condition, he could not move quick enough.
Kriegers punch connected in full force with Forge's left temple. As the powerful force pushed against his cranium, Forge felt himself being lifted off the ground. Being sent backwards, Forge came crashing down onto the pavement. As his momentum slowly decreased, he found himself sliding towards the edge of the ring. By the time he stopped, he was lying flat on his back, with his head hanging off the edge of the ring, just a few feet from the lava pool below.
By now, both fighters were battered and tired. The crowd stared in awe as the two competitors lay exhausted on the floor.

Jay and I have both agreed to stop the match as it is.
So brian you can start the next match when you want to.
Fezzod - August 29, 2004 07:28 PM (GMT)
As far as quality goes the clear winner is Slade. I really like the Forge character, he has clearly defined weaknesses and strengths, and you wrote him with great physical description and good personality. I really liked Jay's final attack, though, pumping him full of energy in a desperation move. But, I won't be judging on quality, but rather on damage done. For inflicting second degree burns all over his body almost instantly and for the extensive damage done to Kreiger's chest I award Slade a 7. For serriously weakening Forge at the end with Ice and the injury to his left arm I award Jay a 6. Slade pulls slightly ahead because at the end of the fight his character was in much better shape than Jay's.
So, judging based on the ammount of damage done..
Slade: 7
Jay: 6
*Hits gavel three times*
His Divine Shadow - August 29, 2004 08:34 PM (GMT)
Well this was a decent match. I'm afraid I'm forced to somewhat agree with Fezzod. Derek took the damage better then Jay. Jay your character suffered 2nd degree burns, and weren't mentioned again throughout the rest of the match. Now I'm no doctor but 2nd degree burns are nothing to laugh at. You should have showed him feeling the pain from them. However, I did like Jays last ditch attacks. Even though you didn't show him feeling the pain, you did show him getting pain. Derek wrote rather well and I feel he derserves this match. I think he executed his moves better.
Slade: 8
Jay: 7
Good Job guys.
Blue - August 29, 2004 11:22 PM (GMT)
I've devised a system for my judging. I thought this might make it clearer to the contestents to as why I chose who I chose as the winner.
For Jay:
-1 for using a power not in his sign up form. Materialization of his sias. Post 1
+3 For taking a very serious hit. Then for coming up with a very creative strategy of giving Forge all of his energy. post 4
+1 Showing that his strategy although very creative and powerful had consequenses on himself and left his character exhausted. post 5
For Derek:
+1 For his surprise lava pillar attack in the begining. Post 1
+1 For revealing he was weak toward water. post 3
+1 Taking a semi-serious hit, and realizing he could not stop three attacks at once. post 4
+1 Realizing Kriegers ice energy should hurt him. post five.
Over all I think Derek was slighly more creative and did a better job on his descriptions. But I think the best attack in this fight was made by Jay. The idea of giving Forge all of his energy was very cool. But all in all Derek beat Jay out by one point here.
Derek- 4
Jay- 3
Or since this is out of ten...I'd say more like...7 and 6.
Ladian - August 29, 2004 11:47 PM (GMT)
I've never judged a tournament before, heck, this is the first tournament that I've ever even read. So I hope I'm doing this right, but this is my opinion:
With Derek's intro, I liked how Derek used his first post to bring out his character's personality. He gave the readers background on the kind of person Forge is and made it very clear that Forge is cocky and overly self-assured. The decision that he would not move from the spot he began in was a very nice touch. So was showing off to the audience before the opponent appeared.
With Jay's intro, I liked how Krieger had his parents in the audience, though the fact that this was never mentioned after the first post was a slight drawback. The physical description of the character was good, and though the sais weren't mentioned in sign-ups, I really liked how later they dissappeared when Krieger became weak. That was a great detail.
The fight, overall, was excellent by both parties. In my opinion, Forge had the upper hand the entire time and clearly won the match, but since I'm judging by how interesting the fight is and how well it's written, that isn't going to matter here.
Overall, Derek's posts were more descriptive and included much more background thought, though Jay's were not lacking in this area. I liked how Forge's cockiness caused him to underestimate his opponent, and also how Jay used this to his fair advantage. Nobody fluidly dodged. Both characters took good hits, and I'd say this was a very close match.
However, it was not a tie. In a few instances, Derek caused his character to be hurt even when Jay did not post that he was intentionally trying to cause that particular reaction, such as the ice energy hurting him, and Krieger's final last punch causing Forge to fly across the arena. That was to Krieger's advantage but it was Derek's creation, which to me it is very important for a writer to make his own character weak when he feels nessesary. Jay's final move was good and the fact that it weakened him was very important, but overall I found Jay's posts slightly too short and they needed a little more description in them.
My final desicion:
Derek= 7.5
Jay= 6.5
It was a really close match, and it was good RPing for sure.
Lightningcount - August 29, 2004 11:55 PM (GMT)
yeah, i'm not gonna whine because derek was the better man
and a note.......when i pumped derek full of energy there was never supposed to be cold energy coursing through his veins. the actual thing i was trying to do was pump him full of my energy and make his body give out. no coldness was supposed to go through him and weaken him.........i just went along with that cause it seemed cooler*pppuunnnn*
Crossknight - August 30, 2004 05:31 PM (GMT)
Final Averages
Forge: 7.375
Kreiger: 6.375
Winner: forge
