Title: Naval Zoids

Captain Stalin - July 19, 2004 09:47 PM (GMT)
Why is it that naval Zoids rarely get any love? In the case of MC, the place is still small and I happen to be the only one with a Gun Sniper....so it isn't too strange here. But reference larger places like MMM where there are only a handful of naval Zoids and over 40 Blade Ligers....Perhaps I will be the only one on this site to be toting the Zoids version of the Star Wars Snow Speeder, the Sinker, when I get around to buying a few more Zoids.

Aerial Zoids don't get that much lovin' either but at least more than naval Zoids. I would think that more people would like them (both naval and aerial) since the majority of ground pounding Zoids can't do a damn thing about them.

Actually, I believe Nick Dash and I had the first Naval Battle on MMM. My Hammerhead vs. his Warshark. Turned out to be a draw.

Various people have Naval Zoids on MMM, most being inactive.

Captain Stalin - July 19, 2004 10:04 PM (GMT)
I just find it odd that the ratio of ground Zoids to naval Zoids is far exceeding 4:1.

Most naval Zoids are deemed cheap and most aerial Zoids are judged as being weak-winged and prone to disaster at high speeds... not to mention more complex to pilot. At least on MMM.

I hope they get used more here on MC. Especially with the strengthened Warshark and strengthened Zabat.

And err, Frag has had a Heldigunner for a long time on MMM. I myself enjoyed piloting a Heldigunner in a couple sea battles, though mostly I've had to fight ground Zoids. <<;

I have an extremely easier time piloting an aerial as opposed to piloting a ground unit. The freedom of being aloft creates more range and makes it easier to manuever around. I enjoy flying and think it creates quite a tactical advantage, but that's just my opinon, obviously shared by few. On MMM, I have used the Sinker for awhile and think it is the most versatile Zoid ever. The option of being able to fight in any kind of situation is unbeatable.

Cyrus Wagner - July 19, 2004 11:12 PM (GMT)
You guys are gonna love the custom Sea-to-Land-to-Air defense zoid I'm cooking up! :P

Captain Stalin - July 19, 2004 11:18 PM (GMT)
I like that Molga mod I sent to you, the PT or PB...don't remember which designation it was.

I like naval Zoids and I dabble in aerial Zoids. I've taken out and nearly taken out two Blade Liger's with a Sinker, so I don't see why people think it bad besides its Lv1 designation in MMM and it getting owned in the series (the pilots were hacks...). I will get a Sinker and Raynos here and probably a Pteras.

I don't like it how things are deemed cheap. Stupid should be the term. To the ground Zoid, not the naval Zoid. It is just plain stupid to accept a naval v ground battle in the first place unless your Zoid is equipped to handle it or the terrain is fair (reference one of Jules/Glenn's War Shark battles against a Blade Liger).

Stop complaining, I'm already working on the Salamander F1 and F2 bios <_<

Captain Stalin - July 20, 2004 03:53 AM (GMT)
I'm only complaining about the fact that not enough people pilot naval Zoids...which I shouldn't really be complaining about because it leaves them with less exploitable weaknesses if people know less about them and fight them less....So, I guess I'll shut up now.... :ph43r:

Alex Carrigan - July 20, 2004 04:30 AM (GMT)
Actually, I really do love naval Zoids, and I plan on getting either a Sinker of a Hammerhead as my next Zoid here on MC. The amazing freedom from terrain restrictions creates a phenomenally versatile and tactically interesting Zoid. Not to mention one that's hella fun to pilot.

If MC introduced custom mods, like MMM has (after the CPs are done, of course) to balance out the power of the differing Zoids, then naval and aerial Zoids may get the long-awaited recognition they deserve. Patience is the key virtue here, we'll just have to wait and see what this place cooks up, and maybe give them a little nudge along the way.

Cierra Arnelle - July 20, 2004 05:54 AM (GMT)
Custom parts won't be mass-produced for widespread usage on MC, if at all; last I heard of it anyway.

On MMM, I have a Battle Cougar, a Hammer Head, a Storm Sworder GST, and a Shield Liger..soooo i have all three combat-styles covered ^_^. Mark(Gabriel) and I have had one or more aviation battles, those were pretty fun, though Mark forfeitted for no reason *glares*. Before that, I've had about ohh say nine air battles? That's a lot on MMM believe it or not x_x. Never had a sea battle, though I could if i could find an opponent with a naval zoid.

I was thinking about getting a Sinker, but they're judged as way too frail. You'll pretty much be severly damaged before you can have any fun. Poor Sinker.

Captain Stalin - July 20, 2004 11:26 AM (GMT)
I've beaten a Blade Liger with a Sinker before. I may've been on the brink of CSF but it wasn't bad for a Lv1 v a Lv4. The only naval battle I've done was against Jules/Glenn which ended up in a DQ on my part because of 8 torpedos point blank to the head....we both died...

Cepheus - July 20, 2004 02:53 PM (GMT)
I would have signed up here with a Hammer Head if it were around back then. I just compensated by getting one in MMM. Also, not able to battle. <.<;

When ya gotta go, ya gotta go. :D

And also, I once CSF'ed a Sabre Tiger in one round with a Sinker, so yea, it can be good when given a chance.

Weee! I just posted up the Hammerhead Triton. It isn't released for field use yet, due to the absence of the Six-shot missile container bio, since I still have to find out about it. Other than that, enjoy! o.o

Cierra Arnelle - July 21, 2004 06:41 AM (GMT)
You know..ironically, my Hammerhead is named Triton on MMM o__O

Cyrus Wagner - July 21, 2004 04:17 PM (GMT)
o.o I didn't know that...
