DETAILED HISTORY OF ZI

The Central Continent Wars

The sudden population boom in the Central Continent following a series of volcanic eruptions and earthquakes leads to food and supply shortages which cause several violent confrontations between tribes, though none of it involved the use of Zoids. The Wind tribe chief Helic Murlowa unites the central continent, bringing an end to all wars. He becomes the continent's first king. In the same year, King Helic's first son, Helic II, is born. His mother is also of the wind tribe. 2 years later, Zenebas, King Helic's second son, is born. However, his mother is of the World-Core tribe. After his father's death, Helic II dissolves the monarchy, creating the Helic Republic, and becomes the first president. Zenebas becomes the supreme commander of the armed forces, working with pride alongside his older brother. But in that same year, Zenebas is unjustly betrayed and framed by the corrupt Republican Assembly, and forced into exile. Gathering the World Core tribe, he forms the Zenebas Empire on the western side of the central continent, dividing the continent between Zenebas and Helic. 2 years later a territorial dispute over the Red River region finally brings the two forces to war. Thus begins the first Continental War.

Several decades after the declaration of war a ship from the distant planet Earth crash-lands on the planet Zi, bringing with them their technology. Soon, the Republic introduces the first mass-produced giant scale zoid, the Gojulas. These Zoids combined metallic animals of Zi, wild Zoids, with the military technology of Earth, guns and other such weapons. War on Planet Zi becomes far more brutal than ever imagined. This change in the atmosphere of warfare on Zi triggers the first Zoid arms race. The Republic and the Empire pour most of their recourses into zoid development. Many new types of Zoids appear.

3 years after the people from Earth had crash landed on Zi, the Helic Republic and Zenebas Empire fight each other in the Battle of Aldanne, the first important battle to feature modern zoid types. With the Gojulas on their side the Republic is victorious.

In an attempt to tip the scale of war in their favor by defeating the Gojulas, the empire mass produces the Iron Kong. Over a hundred of these Iron Kongs invade the Helic Republic and devastate the Gojulas forces.

The war continues like this, with newer and newer Zoids being introduced, making previous designs obselete. Eventually the Helic Republic completes the development of its most powerful giant zoid to date, the Ultrasaurus. Its firepower is more than a match for any imperial zoid and throws their strategies into chaos. Even with the introduction of the Iron Kong Mk.II, the Zenebas forces are still unable to stop the flow of the Helic Republic's army.

10 years after the people from Earth had arrived, the Republican army, led by the proud Ultrasaurus, enters the Zenebas capital city. The Zenebas military is soundly defeated, and Zenebas himself is exiled to the Dark Continent, where he bides his time in planning his revenge.

3 years after his defeat and exile to the Dark Continent, Zenebas leads an army of new Zoids back to the Central Continent with the full support of the Guylos Empire. His attack is fierce and all of the Republican Zoids except the noble Shield Ligers are rendered powerless. However, when Zenebas finally completes the ultimate weapon, the Death Saurer, even the Shield Ligers are quickly defeated. 4 years after the beginning of the invasion, the unstoppable Zenebas army destroys Helic City and the citizens and soldiers of the Helic Republic are forced to retreat, resorting to guerilla warfare.

It is in these troubled times, that at the age 89, President Helic II marries Rosa, commander of the Home Defense Force. This is possible due to the long life span of Planet Zi natives. 2 years after the marriage the Helic Republic military develops the Mad Thunder, a large Zoid designed to defeat the Death Saurer. Exhausted by the four-year occupation of hostile territory, the Zenebas forces are unable to defend against the Mad Thunder. They are forced to retreat from Helic City and the forces of the Helic Republic return to their devastated capital city, with hopes of re-building it and restoring it's glory.

With the development and mass production of Mad Thunder Mark II and the defeat of the Death Saurer, the Republic forces recapture the Zenebas capital. After almost 100 years, the Central Continent's civil war comes to an end, leaving the Central Continent of Delpoi united under the Helic Republic.
