Title: Treasure Hunter

Orpheus - August 24, 2006 01:06 PM (GMT)
Blaine tapped his foot impatiently. He was waiting to see Kyne, and had been for a while. The captain of Team Dawnstar was still up in the executive suite of the arena. His team had put up a good fight, and the new Giga Gojulas had certainly made a good showing of itself, but in the end the result had been a loss. Too bad they didn't have Kyne and his uber-wank Liger Zero. Speaking of which...

Blaine glanced down at the briefcase in his hand. He hoped it would be enough. he wanted the plans for that Jager. Or better yet, he wanted the Jager.

Kyne descended from the executive suite in an elevator, having spent some time reviewing the battle in private. He was in a mood.
"Too bad you missed it," Kyne remarked to Blaine. "You're on Vagrant, correct?"

Orpheus - August 25, 2006 12:26 PM (GMT)
Blaine responded easily and calmly, not bothering to mention the battle. It hadn't gone so well for Dawnstar, and the media would be all over it soon enough, so no need to bother Kyne on that front.

"Yes. Blaine Fraiser, captain of the team. I pilot the Snipe Mikado. Anyway, no need for codrial formality I think. I'm here to try to either buy your Liger Zero and its upgraded armour, or failing that, to purchase the plans for the armour so I can construct my own. I can pay in cash," he added, raising the briefcase and shaking it ever so slightly.

"Interested at all?"

Solaris - August 25, 2006 04:09 PM (GMT)
Kyne barked a laugh. "It'll be a cold day in Hell before I sell that Liger Zero, Mr. Fraiser. I may be persuaded to sell the Jaeger's plans to you, but it will not be cheap." He didn't bother elaborating. Either the man knew what they were talking about or he was a moron.

Orpheus - August 26, 2006 09:47 AM (GMT)
Blaine shrugged his shoulders, having assumed far ahead of time that Kyne would never sell his Liger.

"Very well... what would you propose as a sale figure for those plans? And would you be selling the original or modified plans?"

In the back of his mind, Blaine was busy thinking about a myriad of things, but he was still in the formal business mode externally. Now to see what Kyne would demand.

Solaris - August 26, 2006 09:43 PM (GMT)
"Original. Quarter million." Kyne knew that, given the historical significance of those plans, that was a pretty good buy -- for the parts themselves. It would be highway robbery if Blaine agreed to the price.

Orpheus - August 26, 2006 11:48 PM (GMT)
Blaine's mouth twitched in the barest hint of a smile. It was just about what he'd expected from Kyne for an initial price. A demand which was probably at the upper limits of the value for the armour itself. But for the designs? Not a chance in hell.

"You're testing the waters, is that it? As you know Kyne, the armour itself might be worth that much, but the plans would be significantly less, I do believe. Starting offer is..." Blaine paused for a moment, calculating the cost to custom build the amour. Subtract the costs that go into R+D of the piece before developing it, and...

"Fifty thousand."

Solaris - August 27, 2006 11:29 AM (GMT)
"Very well." Kyne didn't really have the patience for haggling, nor did he really need the money, either. After all, he was guaranteed a half a million each time he battled outside the Tourneys. "That seems entirely reasonable. I will contact your manager in order to see to the transfer of funds and designs."

Orpheus - August 27, 2006 12:12 PM (GMT)
((What's this about half a million? I was unaware of this. RC perk? Or RP flavour?))

Blaine was slightly taken aback at the sale price, but wasn't one to turn down such an opportunity.

"Actually, I am the manager of the team, also. So, fifty thousand in cash. We'll make the exchange in a mutual area. I'm not so worried that you'll trick me, as that someone else might. So I believe it would be fitting."

Blaine pulled out his contact card and handed it over to Kyne, then paused. Now for the tough question.

"Not to bother you any more after that sale, but... I've heard rumours that the third armour of the set is possessed by a man called Stryder. Or along those lines. I don't know if you can confirm them, but... do you know where I could find him?"

Solaris - August 28, 2006 12:35 PM (GMT)
((Neither. Check out the battle rewards system. I can't help but make money, now that Kyne is Ace rank.))

Kyne hesitated a moment. He'd fought it out with Stryker in the frozen wastelands of Nyx, fought him to a standstill and then beat him soundly.
And then killed him.
"No. I don't know where he is. Perhaps you should follow the bodies; he does seem to leave a trail wherever he goes."
