Personality: Raised since birth to be a soldier and carry on his father's military legacy. Being a disciplined killing machine he hasn't developed the over inflated ego and lack of patience that seems to be so abundant in the Storm Rider team. Make no mistake about it though, he is sure of himself and confident in his piloting skills. He is a quite guy who likes to observe the situation before acting, rather than heading into it without formulating some kind of plan. He is very calm and has an unyielding spirit. He is quite not because he is shy but because he doesn't like to engage in mindless chatter if he can help it. Jason for the most part thinks of it as a waste of time when he could be doing something important. He highly values morals and usually keeps on the straight and narrow. He is very patriotic and is highly offended when anyone bad mouths the Helic Republic.

On the battlefield he follows a strict code of battle. He doesn't believe in cockpit shots and tries to avoid them if the situation allows it. When Jason acts he doesn't hesitate. He believes that hesitation and doubt can only lead you down the path of destruction. Something he has seen happen many times during his military career. He doesn't like to listen to people brag about how good they are, he'd rather be shown. He is a decent pilot.

Background:

Jason is the son of Marcus Mathews and Adrianna Sanderson. His father Marcus "Hound Dog" Mathews, is a Lieutenant General in the Republican army. The nickname hound dog came resulted from his zoid of choice being the Hound Soldier and how he treated women.

In his youth Marcus had more women than you could shake a stick at. Most of the time he rarely slept with the same woman twice. As he got older he it seemed that it was his money rather than his looks that kept most of the girls coming to him. Rather than go through the whole process of going to a club or bar and asking this and that he went to an agency and hired a call girl. At first ashamed of his decision to buy sex rather than go without it he almost didn't show up to meet her.

His mother Adrianna worked at a local flower shop part time. She also worked a side job as a call girl to make ends meet. This is how she and Marcus first met and began their relationship. The exact name of the agency is unknown but it is located in the city of New Helic City. Adrianna is Republican but she isn't wasn't born in New Helic. She was born in a small no name town located roughly 30 kilometers from New Helic. She came to the city to get out on her own and try and make her way in the world. As she soon found though it isn't that easy and had to resort to being a call girl and working part time jobs to get by.

The two had a business like relationship in the beginning, but as time passed the two started meeting outside of her work place and the beginnings of a relationship started to form. She became his regular girl and as time went by Marcus's feelings for her developed slowly. After a little more than 6 months she left the agency and was supported by Marcus. A year after she left the agency she gave birth to his son, Jason. The thought of marriage wasn't exactly thrilling to Marcus, but he wasn't totally against it. He figured it was about time for him to settle down anyway. While she was in the hospital giving birth he had her stuff moved into his house on the military base. The next week when she and the baby came home the three lived together and got along quite well.

They got married five weeks later and life went on. She became a stay at home mom and he continued his military career. Sadly not four months after they were married Adrianna was killed in a car accident dying at the age of 32. According to several witnesses her small car was hit head on by a pick up truck driven by a drunk driver. The drunk driver's pickup truck hit the car pushing the engine up into the front of the car killing her. Both cars were totaled, however he lived getting only a broken arm as well as a few cuts and bruises. Her death hit Marcus harder than some would have expected, his disposition and attitude were changed greatly. Marcus became more patient and he had lost his normal urges. His attention turned from women towards Jason and his future.

Jason grew up in a good home. Although they had money to spare he didn't get what he wanted all the time. Marcus thought that spoiling him wouldn't be good. One thing he has always done for Jason though is encourage his dream. Ever since he was a kid he always dreamed about becoming a zoid pilot and fighting for the Helic Republic. Marcus couldn't be prouder of his son's plans for the future and would support him the entire way.

Marcus wasn't home all the time and needed someone to take care of Jason when he wasn't around. Instead of placing him in a daycare he got Jason a nanny to look after him. His nanny was a thirty year old woman called Rita Smith. She was good at what she did which was just about everything. She cleaned, cooked, and took care of Jason. She was very affectionate towards the young boy and always treated him like her son. Sadly she was barren and couldn't have children. She spoiled Jason a lot more than his father did. Rita raised him and took care of him when his father wasn't around. Which was a lot of the time. The two formed a bond and became very close. After a while he began to think of her as his mother. He would call her that often. Soon the infant child grew into a young boy though.

It was about this time he got into zoids. He had started playing the games, and simulations at the arcade. He would sit in the cockpit of his father's Hound Soldier for hours staring at the controls and pretending to pilot it. Life went on and the young boy grew into a teenager. However his love for zoids and his dream to become a zoid pilot for the military had only gotten stronger. In school he wasn't exactly popular. This is due to the fact that his personality as an adult had formed a great deal by this time. A lot of kids used to think he was snobby because of his father's military service and money.

He wasn't the smartest kid getting usually high Cs to Bs most of the time. The three move back to New Helic City were Jason would finish up the rest of his time in the school system. It was around this time his father lets him start riding around in his zoid with him. After a while he began to teach him how to pilot the Hound Soldier. He learned how to operate it in a decent amount of time and pretty soon was piloting it without his father having to accompany him.

He didn't play any sports in high school but he did exercise a lot to stay in shape. Although he didn't play for the school he did play a lot of basketball. High school had caused him to open up a little bit more to people and actually listen to what they say even if he didn't like it. It was at this time he got his first girlfriend. He was gifted with his father's handsome facial features and his mother's eyes and grey hair. His main problem with the ladies was his lack of talking. Needless to say they didn't last long and broke up 2 weeks later. Which didn't bother him, at this time he had more important things to do. They don't let dummies pilot zoids in the great army of the Helic Republic and so he had to keep his mind focused on his grades.

Just days before his graduation his father dropped the bomb on him about his mother's death. His father had told him when he was young enough to understand that she had died. However he had never told him how she died. It was saddening to him but it also eased his mind. That same day they went to visit her grave site and spoke with her for a while. Jason had gotten curious and asked about her family. Later Marcus would explain to him that she had none, most of the members of her family were either dead or scattered with the wind.

Jason satisfied with knowing more about his mother could leave in peace now. Marcus had long ago been mature enough to take care of himself. Rita was employed because the two had formed a close bond with her. She was there for them after Adrianna died and was a part of the family now. Just like his father she was getting up their in age to and wouldn't have much to do now that Jason was leaving. Rather than just make up some lie to get her to stay he told her the truth and asked her to marry him. They were married four weeks later just one day before Jason had to leave.

Jason went through boot camp completing every task set before him. He knew that as the son of Marcus Mathews good things would be expected of him and good things he delivered. He was a good soldier and a great leader. Jason rose through the ranks rather quickly due to his own achievements and a little push from his father. The army was a good experience for him and changed him for the better. He became more social and more outspoken. He served ten years of active duty and achieved the rank of Major. He had achieved his dream of piloting a zoid for his country. His zoid of choice had been the Shield Liger.

He received an honorable discharge and left for New Helic City staying for a while to debate on what to do with his life. There were only two choices that Jason had thought of. Either become join a team and do what he loved to do or return to army life. The army had ten years of his life and so he decided to try out joining a team. He went to live with Marcus and Rita for a few weeks as he bought his new zoid and went in search of a team to join.

He met the storm riders one night in a small bar in Helic City called Roxy's sports bar. A small bar run by a female friend of Vincent's. The three had come their for a quick drink. Jason overheard one of their conversations and called out to them to get them to turn and examine their faces. As soon as he found out they were the real deal he talked with them about joining up. At the moment they were only a team of three and having a good fourth pilot wouldn't hurt the team so he was allowed to join. The reason that Jason joined the team was simply because he couldn't find any other teams with open spots. He had seen them battle before and the storm riders weren't all bad, and who knows with him on the team maybe they could become a true force to be reckoned with.

Appearance:
Jason has brown skin with grey hair and piercing black eyes. His grey hair is short in length and is rather thick and easily managed. Most of the time he can be seen with grey stubble on his face, he keeps it because he seems to like that rugged unshaved look. He stands at 5'11 and weighs 182 pounds. He is not huge but still well built. His muscles are well defined and he has a six pack. The few scars he carries are barely noticeable even up close and are from when he was a young kid.

He can usually be seen wearing a black leather jacket with a black zipper. A black t-shirt with a black leather belt, blue jeans, and black boots . He usually tucks in the front of the black shirt but he has been seen with it out as well. Under the coat he has on a shoulder holster (Not sure what its called) to hold his Silver .357 Magnum. Which he always keeps loaded.
