Armour Description:
The Gorem, a small cousin to the Iron Kong, is quite simply the toughest Command Zoid around. In fact, it's one of the few Command Zoids licensed for use in battle by the ZBC, being that it's such an effective old design. Bearing armour as tough (but not nearly as thick) as the Cannon Tortoise, very few Command Zoids can take this Zoid out. This is the king of Imperial Command Zoids, just as the Megatopros is to the Republican Command Zoids. The chest, back, flanks and head are all completely covered with this very tough armour, as is the front of the shoulders, forearms and upper arms, and the front of the hips. However, the sides and backs of the arms and legs, as well as most of the front of the legs, are left exposed. Like the Iron Kong though, the actual structure is better than anything else of that size.
Mobility and Power Source:
Gorem, being an ape-type, is quite agile, able to lope along at an impressive pace as well as jump, spin and use the momentum of the arms for lots of other impressive tricks. With a skilled enough pilot the Gorem can do all sorts of funny and amazing little stunts. The core is tough though, and quite a bit larger than most Command Zoid cores, so it can fight well without getting tired easily.
Weaponry and Equipment:
Infrared Sensor
The big red "HAL-Eye" lens in the middle of Gorem's face is the only way it can see, by way of infrared sensors projected into the cockpit as the Empire's first holographic heads' up display, or HHUD. While this provides a much more accurate idea of where most Zoids are, even stealthed ones, it means that you have no chance of spotting a Zoid with coolant or IR suppression. This is the one true weakness of Gorem, so be careful.
Grappler Knuckles x2
The Gorem has opposable thumbs! With this wonderful deviation from normal Zoid design, the Gorem is well capable of gripping all sorts of things to use as weapons or to throw around. Using the arms, it can climb up and down things, or tear Zoids apart with its great strength. The Gorem is capable of lifting up to 36 tons, three times its own body weight, an impressive engineering spectacle. However, it can't do much with something that heavy. It can throw Zoids under 30 tons very effectively though.
AZ20mm Beam Hybrid Cannon
Mounted onto the left shoulder of the Gorem is a small eight-barrelled hybrid cannon with a large reinforced tube running from it to the back of the Zoid. "Hybrid" was the early term given to what is referred to today as "beam weapons," as it was seen as a sort of hybrid between charged particle guns and laser weaponry. The cannon is able to fire forty blasts of laser-encapsulted plasma a second, something even normal Zoids should fear. The pure power of the blasts means that you're getting raked over with a lot of damage. However, due to the heat generated, the gun can only be fired for two seconds before three more seconds are required to allow the gun to cool. This gun will place a lot of drain on the Gorem.
AZ Mortar Cannon
With dual control areas, the pilot station on the back was deemed useless, a plain waste of space. So the ZBC-model Gorem was overhauled, with a mortar cannon designed to be slung over the right shoulder, while the back holds the supply of mortars for the cannon itself. The cannon can rotate outwards 30 degrees, and up to 90 degrees, with a maximum range of 1600 meters, and a minimum range of 100 meters. The mortars the cannon fires are AZ65mm cannonry mortars, able to deal huge amounts of damage to any Zoid if they hit. There are five mortars total, including the one already loaded, and can be fired once every three seconds. The blast radius is 20 meters.
