Armor Description:
The Mammoth is usually (incorrectly) seen as the Republic equivalent of the Elephander. For one, the Elephander has thick tough armour over almost all of its body, whilst the Mammoth does not. The Mammoth's also a whole lot older than the new-fangled Elephander. The chest and underbelly of the Mammoth is armoured with armour as strong as a Gojulas' but there is no other armour except for around the ankles and cockpit. That said, most of the structure of the Mammoth is more durable than a Gojulas’ so it is hardly helpless. The truck is immensely tough, able to smash and crack Zoid armour with massive hammering blows.
Mobility and Power Source:
The Mammoth is, well, big would be the word. And in the world of Zoids it has been consistently proved that unless booster assisted, big Zoids tend to be as manoeuvrable as a sack of potatoes. The Mammoth is no exception. With a very high center of gravity, the Mammoth has trouble turning while moving, and is a slow plodding beast. It's very hard to knock over though, which is a good thing, and while stationary, the turning rate of the Mammoth is massively improved. Like a real mammoth, the Mammoth can function for greatly extended periods of time without tiring, and the endurance of the Mammoth actually surpasses that of the Command Wolf. In addition, it's a formidable foe in melee combat, as its stationary turn rate compliments its brute strength. This old Zoid is quite a bit more dangerous up close than it appears.
Twin Heat Tusks
Just below the cockpit, to either side of the trunk, is a curved, serrated tusk made of Landenium. Landenium is a material found on the surface of Zoid Cores and is known for possessing a very high thermo-conductivity and melting point. These factors mean that Landenium is a very rare material, but exceedingly good for thermal attacks. These tusks, as well as being able to pierce and tear with ease, can heat up to roughly five or six thousand degrees Celsius, so they can puncture metal like a hot knife through butter, if you'll excuse the term.
3D Radar System
The Mammoth was designed to be one of the premier command Zoids for the Republic, and as such needed a powerful sensory suite to keep track of the Zoids it had to oversee. The result was that the ears were formatted into powerful 3D Radar panels, which are capable of generating a radar of any terrain, no matter how complex, out to a distance of fifteen kilometres. The constructed map can be viewed from any angle, and Zoids are viewed as highly detailed wire frames. The Mammoth can use the ears to broadcast the radar as well, to anyone within two kilometres, increasing the accuracy of those Zoids by 10%, a bonus the Mammoth also benefits from.
AZ 50mm Beam Cannon
Mounted on the tip of the trunk, and thus only restricted to firing wherever the trunk can point, this gun fires particle beams at a rate of twice a second. Because these are AZ Beams, they are quite a bit more effective than a normal beam, making for a lot of damage in a tight area. Of course, being a beam weapon, this gun is exceedingly accurate, but a heavy energy drainer. This is less of a problem with the Mammoth than it is with most Zoids, however.
TRZ 20mm Linear Laser Cannon
Mounted on the back of the Mammoth, on a 360-degree mount, is this laser cannon. As stated it has good coverage, but is locked from firing in the frontal 90-degree arc, for risk of hitting the Mammoth's own head. The gun fires three times a seconds, with lasers that hit like 30mm cannon shells.
ARZ 20mm Beam Cannon
Mounted on the underbelly of the Mammoth is this gun that fires beam bursts that hit like 40mm cannon shells, twice per second. The cannon can rotate left and right ninety degrees, but you must be careful to avoid hitting your own legs.
Twin Panova 20mm Anti-Air Beam Cannons
Located on the left side of the Mammoth, right at the top near the back, is a dual-barrelled beam cannon designed to shoot down aerial Zoids. It can move in every direction comfortably, allowing it to cover most of the sky except for a strip along the right side of the Mammoth. The cannons each fire fifteen times per second, but this firing can only be kept up for four seconds before requiring two seconds to cool. Unlike normal Beam Weapons, the Panova Cannons actually hit like normal 20mm shells.
Dual AMD 30mm Beam Cannons
Located on the upper tip of the stubby tail of the Mammoth is this dual-barrelled cannon that fires five times a second, and can rotate 90 degrees to both the left and right. Excellent for rear defence.
Twin Maxer 30mm Multi-Purpose Auto Cannons
Two standard 30mm machine guns are mounted on either side of the tip of the tail with unlimited vertical pivoting. Like the beam cannons, the Maxers can aim wherever the tail can point as well as featuring 90 degree pivoting each direction. These machine guns each fire fifteen times per second, and can be set to fragment into flak at a certain height, for anti-air uses, hence the ‘multi-purpose’ designation. Being auto-cannons, these cannons swivel to fire on any Zoid that enters the rear 180 degree arc of the Mammoth and has not been tagged a ‘friendly’ through use of the Radar system, and will continue to fire until the Zoid leaves the firing arc. The guns assign priority according to the size of the Zoid, so the entire process is automated.
