Armour Description:
Most of the structure of the Demantis is completely bare with only the Ion Booster and cockpit being covered in Rev Raptor-level armour. The Phalanx Strikers, however, are actually made out of the same material used to make Dark Horn armour, so they are very tough. The structure is quite resilient, though, as the many legs have to be able to survive the high speeds the Demantis moves at.
Mobility and Power Source:
Like the other insect type Zoids, the Demantis has insane agility on the ground, able to easily match the Guysack move-for-move. Demantis was originally developed as a mass ambush Zoid, with a low-stamina core that generally doesn’t sport enough power to engage in full power combat for longer than a minute or so. Assuming it survives that long. However, it is quick to recharge, meaning that when its out of action, it gets back into the battle quickly.
Weaponry and Equipment
Mantis Assault Phalanx x2
Attached to the end of the Demantis’ “arms” are a pair of heavy and tough striking phalanx, large metal wedges effectively. They are ridged on the back, and the bottom of the arms are also riged, meaning that the Demantis can actually slam the phalanx to the arm with a bit of force and grip things caught in there, like gun barrels or something similar. The Demantis can also bring down the phalanxes with quite a bit of striking force, enough to crack the armour of weaker Zoids. Finally, being made out of the same stuff as Dark Horn armour, the phalanxes can be held in front of the Demantis for a tough and sturdy makeshift shield.
Double-Barrelled Phalanx Vulcan x2
Mounted at the end of each arm, and poking through a gap a the top of the Assault Phalanx, is a twin-barrelled Vulcan. These vulcans fire 20mm shells at a rate of twenty per second, with improved accuracy over most vulcans due to sporting only two barrels. They are able to aim wherever the arms can point, and if you can catch something in a Phalanx, let these babies rip.
Triple-Barrelled Hyper Phalanx Cannon
Mounted on the chest of the Demantis is a trio of barrels that each fire accelerated AZ40mm rounds twice per second. The result is that these shells have excellent armour penetration capabilities and will cause havoc to most of the Zoids a Demantis would normally fight.
Eight-Barrelled Vulcan Cannon
Mounted on the back of the Demantis is a Vulcan cannon that provides a good percentage of its weight. The Vulcan is a state of the art model that fires roughly fifty AZ50mm cannon shells per second, for some serious damage to anything that gets in its path. It’s locked into position facing directly backwards, so its more suited to being used against persuers, which will happen quite a lot in a Demantis.
Multi-Function Sensor Array x2
The two antennae on the cockpit each allow the Demantis to see in infrared and ultraviolet, allowing the Demantis to see through most stealth shields with some degree of effectiveness. They are rather fragile but very effective at what they do, and they also have advanced targeting equipment to raise the accuracy of the Demantis by 15%.
Ion Booster
Most of the back of the Demantis is a large Ion Booster that propels the Demantis to such high speeds. In normal ground combat the Demantis can reach speeds of around 220 km/h, which is pretty good, really. However, by activating a magnesser in the stomach of the Demantis, the Ion Booster can be used, allowing the Demantis to boost along about a meter above the ground at its top speed of 370 km/h. The booster isn’t going to blow out on you, because the Demantis would actually run out of energy before the Ion Booster will. The Demantis can fly safely for around eighteen seconds and then has a 1:1 recharge:flight time ratio.
