Armour Description:
The Lidier was designed a long time ago, and lost to the sands of time, but the fantastic people at AIZDAT have managed to reconstruct it. This was a Zoid designed to accompany the Death Saurers used by the Zenebas Empire, a fast strike team that could serve to protect the fans that made the Death Saurers vulnerable. The Lidier was designed to be fast and deadly, and its armour reflects this. The Zoid has excellent armour coverage, with the only real gaps being on the front of the lower legs and the rear side of the legs. The armour itself is designed to be very aerodynamic; more so than almost any other land Zoid, however, the armour itself is incredibly light. Nowadays such a light material would probably be a poly-weave composition but back in the days of the Lidier, light armour meant weak armour. This Zoid has armour roughly equivalent in composition and thickness to that of a Gun Sniper, that is to say, not very good armour at all.
Mobility and Power Source:
The Lidier, though possessing a low pain tolerance, has some things going for it. Like speed, speed and more speed. It uses an old style driving mechanism that allows it to reach simply ridiculous natural running speeds, but at a price. Firstly, above 300 km/h the Lidier is going nowhere but straight ahead. Secondly, the drive system is an enormous power hog, draining the lightweight and none-too-powerful core of the Lidier very quickly. Also, going at high speeds tends to wear down the mechanisms, so Lidiers often need maintenance. However, at a speed of 270 km/h or lower, the Lidier can maintain an indefinite runtime and has maneuverability rivalling that of the Shadow Fox, crazy as it may sound. This extreme agility is granted by the airbrakes on the shoulders and back. Something important to note is that the entire weapon set for the Lidier is energy based, and none too particular about the energy it uses either, meaning its actually surprisingly easy to stall the little thing.
Weapons
Laser Sabers
The two front fangs of the Lidier are long and curved, and thing side-to-side, indicating they are designed to pierce and puncture into things rather than crushing and tearing. They are made out of tough alloy, and can be charged with laser energy in a manner similar to a primitive Sttrike Laser Claw, but the laser sabers are actually the biggest consumers of energy on the Lidier, being almost monstrously inefficient. Use the laser function with extreme caution.
20mm Pulse Beam Cannon x4
Clustered on the chest of the Lidier, fixed into place, are a set of five cannons. The four outermost weapons are these ones. They operate by firing small pulses of fifteen beams twice a second, and are designed to penetrate deeply and destroy structural components instead of armour. For the Lidier, which is a fast assault and fade Zoid, it is critical to disable the enemy in the leas tamount of time, hence ignoring the armour. Because these are fixed they tend to be wildly inaccurate while the Lidier is running.
180mm Linear Laser Cannon
Installed in the center of the chest, between the 20mm Pulse Beam Cannons, is this big cannon. It’s a mammoth of a calibre for such a small and lightweight Zoid to be carrying, and is generally reserved for taking out the tougher opponents. This cannon fires a laser that is invisible to the naked eye and hits like a 220mm cannon shell for great punishing force. However, due to energy restrictions and the like, the cannon can only fire once every two seconds. Just like the Pulse Beam Cannons, this gun is inaccurate when the Lidier is on the move, but while standing still or moving slowly, this gun can be accurate out to two kilometres.
30mm Electro-Particle Beam Cannon x3
During the time of the Death Saurer, the Zoids the Lidier would come across most were Aro Saurers and Shield Ligers. This turret of three cannons was designed in order to fight away both of these Zoids. The turret is mounted on the rear back of the Lidier, with all three cannons in a line. The entire turret can move 360 degrees on the horizontal axis and up and down by 20 degrees, for a good range of fire. When combined with the semi-automatic nature of these cannons, the turret was very useful at taking down Aro Saurers. But what about Shield Ligers and their E-Shields? Well, the beams from these cannons were imparted with a slight negative electrostatic charge that effectively allowed them to pass through the shield matrix of the Shield Liger without hindering either the beam or the shield. This electrostatic charge generally lasts about 300m before wearing off, but it makes the cannon turret about twice as energy intensive as a normal triple 30mm beam cannon would be. An interesting thing to note is that the turret has a mounting peg on top of it identical to that on the Saber Tiger’s Triple Shock Cannon, meaning that any modification that will mount on the Saber Tiger’s TSC will mount on top of this turret.
30mm AMD Beam Cannon x2
Mounted on the back, just above the front shoulders of the Lidier, are a pair of beam cannons designed for anti-missile duties. Because of this, they fire at a rapid rate, roughly 15 beams a second, but havea greatly reduced power rate, meaning the beams are roughly equal to 12mm cannon shells. They are able to point directly forward, and can arc vertically all the way to face directly backwards, and anywhere in between. A pilot can, before the start of battle, choose to affix these guns as rear-facing units on the tail, for a greater range of horizontal movement but little to no vertical rotation.
Positional Airbrake Fairing
The front shoulders of the Lidier, and the front half of the Lidier’s back, are all covered in bulbous armour protrusions with strange aerodynamic curves to them. These pieces of armour make up the Positional Airbrake. The pilot can lift and tilt these plates to change the flow of air, allowing the Lidier to perform very tight turns at higher speeds and come to a complete stop in around a second. The Airbrake armour is vital to the agility of the Lidier, but because it is composed of moveable segments, the Airbrake is easier than normal armour to knock off with kinetic and melee attacks.
