It ups the armour to Rev Raptor level, in all the same spots as before, except the legs. On the legs, a triple layer is added to the top half, with a standard layer below the first joint. The Energy Assistance Device gets a double layer of armour for protection. Also, the head is redesigned to be an enclosed, armoured cockpit that utilizes a Holographic Heads-Up Device to view the world. The structure is also improved, as the Compact Stinger is wired through with double-strength myomers to improve power and speed. Mobility and Power Source: The Compact Stinger retains the awesome manoeuvrability of its base model, able to scuttle in any direction at its top speed, as well as burrow at up to 100 km/h. The core is fitted with purifiers and filters to make it more efficient and the large Energy Assistance Device on the back helps out with the energy situation, but it’s still easy to stall if you try to Alpha Strike too much. The Compact Stinger is lined with Double-Strength Myomers that greatly enhance the strength of the Stinger, allowing it to fight much more capably in melee. Laser Fangs Located in the mouth, they are relatively small and difficult to use. They can be charged up with laser energy. Laser Scissor Claws x2 Located on the two large arms of the Compact Stinger, these wide, sharpened claws are excellent for grabbing and citting into things, but are not so useful for the ferocious thrusting flurries the Guysack can perform. They can be charged up with laser energy, and with the double-strength myomers, the Compact Stinger can actually lift up to thirty tons in its Scissor Claws. Laser Cutter x2 The new armour of the Stinger provides it with some switchblades installed in the side of the Laser Scissor Claws. On command these will spring out to the side of the claws, about two meters in length, and charge with laser energy. They can be used for close-range slashes or mini blade attacks. It takes a second to dock them away, but they spring out almost instantly. AZ 15mm AMD Machinegun x4 Mounted on either side of the Compact Stinger’s face are two machineguns that are primarily used for anti-missile defence. These guns are fixed in position, relying on the movement of the Stinger’s head to work, and each throw out fifteen rounds a second. This means that although low in calibre these machineguns can actually do quite a bit of damage if you focus the fire on a Zoid for any extended period of time. AZ25mm Linear Cannon x2 Mounted on the top side of each Laser Scissor Claw’s main part is a small close-range weapon that is like an oversized shotgun. When triggered, there’s a bit of recoil, a big bang and a cloud of shrapnel is sprayed roughly 35 meters. The Linear Cannons each fire once per second and chew through armour at an impressive rate, as long as you keep within range. AZ 30mm Hyper Laser Gun x2 Mounted on the left and right of the Focused Particle Beam Gun are these two laser cannons. They utilize an improved charging mechanism to fire lasers that hit like 50mm shells, while only drawing the energy of a standard 30mm laser. These guns are each able to fire twice per second, and rely on the tail’s movement for aiming purposes. AZ 30mm Hyper Beam Gun x2 Mounted above the Hyper Laser Guns on the left and right of the Focused Particle Beam Gun are these two weapons that utilize new exciters to superheat the plasma, whilst maintaining low energy consumption. The result is that these guns fire beams that hit like AZ65mm shells, roughly twice per second each. Focused Particle Beam Gun The main weapon of the Compact Stinger, this weapon is mounted on the very tip of the tail, and is worked through pretty much the entire tail. Along the entire tail are vents for the device, and two small fans are installed at the base of the tail for particle collection. When the FPBG is used a beam measuring roughly 288mm in diameter is fired, a beam of superheated, incredibly intensified plasma. It’s all contained within a magnetic field, and generates a shockwave and electromagnetic pulse that are able to toss around Zoids below thirty tons within five meters, and Zoids below fifteen tons within ten meters. The electromagnetic pulse will stun almost any Zoid within ten meters of the beam. The beam fires for about three seconds, and can travel about six or so kilometres before dissipating. The procedures for firing the gun are simple. When activated, the fans begin to collect particles for the gun, a procedure that takes about six seconds. The Compact Stinger can fight as normal during the charging time, but after five seconds of charging the Compact Stinger’s failsafes activate and it burrows halfway into the ground to brace itself, all weapon systems and the E-Shield shutting down. After six seconds, the gun then fires, the beam going for about three seconds. The new myomers in the tail allow it to move about fifteen degrees in any direction from its central bearing. Once the gun is fired, the vents open up and huge bursts of steam are emitted, shrouding the Stinger, while the Stinger becomes capable of movement again, although it still can’t fire weapons. After three seconds cooling down and recharging, the E-Shield and weapon systems come online again, ready to be used again. Because of the large energy draw though, the FPBG is locked out from use for at least another six seconds. Energy Assistance Device Mounted on the back of the Compact Stinger, under some fairly heavy armour, is this very vital device. It regulates core power and supplements it with energy from twin capacitors it sports inside armoured tanks on the back of the Stinger. If it is breached, the electricity from the capacitors might badly damage the Stinger, and it would certain suffer a major drop in energy levels, around 35%. E-Shield Generator Mounted on top of the head of the Compact Stinger is a small red panel. When it is flipped up it begins to generate an omni-directional force shield roughly half the power of the Shield Liger’s for defensive purposes. This is one of the more energy-draining devices the Compact Stinger sports. Sensory Package Installed on the back, just in front of the Energy Assistance Device, is this small module that provides the Compact Stinger with a series of useful extra-sensory pieces. It possesses a High-Precision infrared Searcher to detect even the smallest thermal traces, as well as a Satellite-Linked All-Weather Ground Penetrating 3D RADAR. These systems combine to allow the Compact Stinger excellent knowledge of the entire battle. Advanced H-HUD The cockpit of the Stinger is entirely enclosed, relying on data feeds from the Sensory Package to generate a complete 360-degree map of the battlefield for the pilot. The combination of RADAR and satellite footage, plus powerful new supercomputers and processors installed within the Compact Stinger, allow a fully rendered map to be projected. It allows Zoids to be wireframed into the map, and allows the Stinger to keep track of Zoids as far as seven kilometres away. |
