When the Republic decided that the CPC was a really cool thing, they first tried it with the CP-05. That was fine for the Cannon Tortoise, especially after the Tortoise Tread modification came out, but it lacked in that intimidating killing power the Empire had with its Geno Saurer. Thus, they designed this modification. It places a particle converter right next to the zoid’s core in order to feed on the energy it produces, charge capacitors, and then vent plasma through a mouth-mounted railgun.
This weapon is effectively a CPG. Firing a beam three meters wide and slowly spreading at a rate of one meter every hundred meters, the plasma isn’t quite as hot as the CPG’s, enabling direct hits on non-cockpit areas with little threat of pilot death. It does, however, chew through zoid armor and structure quite easily and there’s a good twenty-meter-wide cylinder of EMP that stalls out zoids forty tons and under, with shockwaves in the first five meters outside the beam that can knock about zoids weighing thirty tons or less. The weapon is impressive, and use of it requires a two-second charge-up time. During charge-up the back spines glow blue-hot with the excess heat the plasma produces. The beam lasts for a maximum of twelve seconds, and if it is dropped beforehand charge-up only requires a second after that.
Because the recoil is far less than that of the CPG and the impact so much less, the Ogre can fire this without any stabilizers or anchors. It can move about, though moving above fifty kilometers an hour is not advised.
