Armor Description:
The Liger Zero is a tough old feline, surpassing the Blade Liger in staying power. Its King Liger ancestry shows in a more refined system, giving the Liger Zero structure that is well above standard in durability. The peregrine’s armor is a high-density poly-weave that provides protection on par with that of the Hound Soldier’s armor in a much lighter package. It is streamlined, allowing for a higher top and cruising speed. The intake vents atop the shoulders suck in air to allow the zoid to cool down much more efficiently, especially while running the Acceleration Protocol.
Mobility and Power Source
The Liger Zero surpasses the Saber Tiger and Blade Liger in agility and matches the Shadow Fox for flexibility. A side-affect of the onboard AI is that it pretty much runs itself, leaving the pilot to just pilot.
This explains Bit Cloud.
The Zero’s power source, on the other hand, is rather limited. While it certainly has enough for a quick skirmish, the Liger doesn’t have the endurance for a long-running battle. Unlike the other Ligers, this one does not suffer overheating issues – the intake vents allow for a highly efficient air-coolant system.
Equipment:
High-Intensity 60mm Laser Cannon
The HI Laser Cannon is a laser weapon featuring improved penetration and range over the normal laser weapon, surpassing even the beam weapon for pure penetration power. It fires at a rate of once every other second, making it a poor weapon choice for the high-speed Peregrine. The weapon is designed for surgical strikes to hardened foibles in zoid design. It is also the Peregrine’s only ranged weapon. The HI Laser Cannon mounts on the top of the mane, between the shoulders. It can fan out sixty degrees in both directions and twenty degrees upwards.
Acceleration Protocol
Drawing power from the Liger Zero at a prodigious rate results in the concealed boosters hidden underneath the armor opening up, magnessors activating, and the zoid ripping along at six hundred and forty kilometers an hour. It takes two seconds to perform this procedure, and the Liger must already be moving at its top speed lest the pilot risk blacking out from the high-stress maneuver. The zoid suffers little to its maneuverability whilst performing the maneuver thanks to the thrusters’ ability to pivot, but pilots had best be careful lest his zoid trip up.
After all, the NASCAR fans in the crowd would enjoy it entirely too much. It’s just unhealthy to hit anything at this speed, up to and including other zoids.
Now, most ground zoids in their right minds wouldn’t be able to go above about three-fifty km/h. That’s a solidly-grounded rule of zoids, and the Liger Zero circumvents the rule by utilizing magnessors to hover a few centimeters above the ground. The paws still touch the ground, but they’re simply assisting with turning control. The Liger’s strides become unusually long leaps of twenty-five to thirty meters apiece.
The Liger Zero Peregrine can maintain the Acceleration Protocol for about twelve seconds before it needs to set down and recharge. Because of its power and extreme affect on the pilot, the ZBC recommends a pilot only use the Protocol once per battle unless they’ve had aerial zoid training. For the confident or the suicidal, the system takes eighteen seconds to recharge completely.
Ion Turbo Booster Unit
A pair of boosters are mounted under armored plates in the Zero’s back. When activated the boosters increase the Liger Zero's speed to three hundred and ten kilometers per hour. Without them activated it runs at a pace of 285 kilometers per hour. Because they don't pivot the boosters don't help the Liger Zero at turning, but they do help with jumping.
Downforce Stabilizer x2
Mounted on the Zero’s flanks is a pair of extendable stabilizer wings. They aid in increasing traction by providing reverse lift. This is invaluable in helping to keep the Liger on the ground and reduce the mobility loss that most zoids experience at maximum speed. They actually act to help slow the Liger Zero down a bit, reducing its speed by three kilometers per hour. The stabilizers automatically deploy when the boosters activate.
Laser Fangs
The rows of razor-sharp extra-strength alloy teeth along the jaws of the Liger Zero can be charged up with laser energy for extra damage. Its front teeth aren't as long as those of the other Ligers and thus aren't as effective.
Strike Laser Claws x4
One on the end of each of the Liger Zero's legs, these claws have four toes made of a sharp, extra-strength alloy. They draw plasma from particle converters in the paws, producing an effect commonly referred to as charging with laser energy. The claws are coated with a heat-resistant and mildly magnetic laminate that protects them from their own plasma discharge. Unlike the modification and most other zoids that mount the SLC, the Liger Zero’s claws each have their own particle converter. This gives it a good deal of redundancy and a bit more power than normal.
Changeable Armor System
The Liger Zero's CAS is a lot like the Elephander and its Conversion Parts System. While the Liger Zero only has the standard, white armor at first it can also support the Jaeger, Schneider, Panzer and other armors. This allows the Liger Zero to react to a wide variety of different situations with different armor units. However, like the Elephander, the Liger Zero has to gain these other armor units through expensive modifications. Another drawback is the fact that the armor is not quite so thoroughly welded on as it is with other zoids, leaving it open for high-kinetic melee attacks to knock it off.
