Armor Description:
The armor coverage of the Jaeger is not very good, being lightweight and designed to reduce drag, not defend against attack. That said, the armor is an ultralight ceramic-titanium weave as strong as a Shield Liger’s, so it’s very good where it covers. The armor is located on the head, shoulders, and a few patches on the legs, which it reinforces to raise the running speed. The armor is heavily streamlined, making it especially effective against bullets fired from directly ahead. This streamlining doubles as a radar deterrent, making the Jaeger’s radar signature from the front much smaller than normal. Being a CAU, the armor is attached much looser than the normal armor of a zoid, so it can be easily removed and attached. The downside of this utility is kinetic attacks are quite capable of removing chunks of armor easier than normal, but by no means with glancing blows.
Mobility and Power Source
The Liger Zero Jaeger MKII CAU was designed with the sole purpose of providing the Liger Zero with a rapid-deployment scout and skirmish model. Equipped with high-tech ionic pulsejet boosters and several maneuvering vanes, the Jaeger has a top running speed of 350 km/h, beating out even the Lightning Saix in terms of speed. Lithe and maneuverable, the Liger Zero’s natural agility is enhanced through the use of these same boosters. The booster pivots completely about the horizontal axis, so they can face forwards, backwards, and to both sides, allowing for some interesting tricks – such as the Crazy Ivan or the Reverse Throttle Hop. Because of the highly efficient design of the pulsejet, it requires less room than the original and provides a higher cruising speed than the original models. These are akin to the thrusters used in the Storm Sworder, though cosmetically they bear no similarity. Despite the increased weight, the new details and aerodynamic surfaces actually increase the running speed by ten kilometers per hour.
Equipment:
Laser Fangs
The rows of razor-sharp extra-strength alloy teeth along the jaws of the Liger Zero can be charged up with laser energy for extra damage. Its front teeth aren't as long as those of the other Ligers and thus aren't as effective.
Strike Laser Claws x4
One on the end of each of the Liger Zero's legs, these claws have four toes made of a sharp, extra-strength alloy. They draw plasma from particle converters in the paws, producing an effect commonly referred to as charging with laser energy. The claws are coated with a heat-resistant and mildly magnetic laminate that protects them from their own plasma discharge. Unlike the modification and most other zoids that mount the SLC, the Liger Zero’s claws each have their own particle converter. This gives it a good deal of redundancy and a bit more power than normal.
AZ208mm double-barreled Shock Cannon
Mounted under the chest and locked in a forward facing position. Each barrel is approximately 208mm. These things hurt badly, and feature improved explosive power over their predecessors on the Shield Liger. Being fixed in place, it's almost impossible to hit something when you're running, unless you're firing at pointblank, which these are made for. They have a maximum effective range of 200 meters, after which the accuracy is simply shot, but the barrels are refined and reinforced to be nigh-impossible to disable.
Twin Vulcan Pods
These AZ30mm Vulcan Pods mount to either side of the Jaeger’s face. They have only a single barrel, but can fire thirty bullets per second each. The Twin Vulcan Pods are affixed to the Jaeger’s head, firing only where the head faces.
Flying Vulcan Pod
This Vulcan Pod, mounted in the armored tipo of the tail, is similar to the Vulcan Pods mounted on the Liger’s face. Instead of sporting a single AZ30mm barrel, it sports two AZ20mm barrels. It fires forty-five rounds per second. This is best used for rear defense – after all, what can outpace the Liger Zero Jaeger MKII? However, the Flying Vulcan Pod can fire anywhere the tail can point.
Ion Pulsejet Boosters
Two huge boosters made of Zoid Magnite are mounted on the Jaeger’s back. This makes them incredibly difficult to take out, and the bases of them are made of the same material. These huge ion boosters each add 27.5 km/h to the standard running speed of the Jaeger when boosting at cruising speed. The force these boosters generate is immense, and the untrained pilot may suffer a loss of concentration and coherent thought due to the immense G forces the pilot suffers from a rapid acceleration. The boosters can pivot a full 360 degrees individually, making them excellent for sharp brakes and turning. Unlike the original Jaeger’s boosters, these are engines designed for long-term performance at the cruising speed of 330 km/h; it is only the Liger’s short power supply that prevents them from being useful for the long term.
Advanced cooling mechanisms and energy allocation systems mean the boosters can run for twelve seconds at their maximum recommended speed of 350 km/h. Used at lower speeds they can run for longer, and at cruising speed they can run almost indefinitely. The boosters can be switched to an overboost mode that consumes energy at an amazing rate, and thus can only be powered for three seconds at this speed of 370 km/h. After using this overboost mode the Jaeger is overheated, though it rarely stalls out, and requires three more seconds before it can recuperate enough to fire weapons.
Multi-Blade Antennae
The Jaeger’s mane sports two large bladelike protrusions that sweep backwards over the Jaeger’s neck. These are the Multi-Blade Antennae. When activated, they allow the Liger Zero Jaeger to utilize an onboard 3D Radar and counter jamming equipment. The Multi-Blade Antennae also transmits to the allies, increasing accuracy by a measly five percent.
Objective Blade Sensors
The tail of the Jaeger sports not just a Flying Vulcan Pod but also two blades that stick off the sides of it. These are the Objective Blade Sensors. While these blades are intact, they lend the Jaeger handy 3D Radar – the Multi-Blade Antennae provides a redundant system – that maps out the surrounding terrain and provides wireframes of all hidden zoids. It has a ten kilometer range. The Jaeger is also loaded with an advanced AI that traces the fastest, safest, and most balanced routes to a target, as well as compensating for the zoid’s movement with the guns and highlighting probable danger zones and ambush sites. The system is unique and can be very handy in real-life situations.
Concealed NARC Missile Tube x2
These missile tubes are hidden in the Magnite armor of the boosters. A panel in the outer side pops open and reveals three missile tubes; one is a NARC and two are straight missiles. Because the Jaeger moves so fast, it would have trouble tracking a target long enough to achieve a missile lock. That’s where these come in. Flying by a quick-and-dirty lock taking under half a second, they streak into a target and imbed a radar beacon in the enemy’s armor. This radar beacon attracts all radar-guided missiles – but not those that fly solely on infrared – and lasts for thirty seconds. It also effectively cancels out most any stealth, as the beacon’s strength passes through the majority of radar stealth shields with a big screaming “Hit Me” sign.
Concealed Two-shot Missile Tube x2
The other two missile tubes, these are ordinary surface-to-surface missiles with normal warheads. There is only a pair per engine pod, so they are really of limited use. Consider them a token nod towards giving the Liger Zero Jaeger real firepower without making it a pure killing machine.
Changeable Armor System
The Liger Zero's CAS is a lot like the Elephander and its Conversion Parts System. While the Liger Zero only has the standard, white armor at first it can also support the Jaeger, Schneider, Panzer and other armors. This allows the Liger Zero to react to a wide variety of different situations with different armor units. However, like the Elephander, the Liger Zero has to gain these other armor units through expensive modifications. Another drawback is the fact that the armor is not quite so thoroughly welded on as it is with other zoids, leaving it open for high-kinetic melee attacks to knock it off.
