These are a derivation of the Frontal Force Shield and similar energy projections. Where the Shields are defensive in nature, the Force Swords are very offensive. Six meters of offense. The long blades cut like nobody's business, the edges of the swords as sharp as any laser-charged monofilament blade, but are longer and easier to use than a monofilament blade made from metal could be because they are made of energy, and therefore possess no mass. The Force Swords are also harder to break than normal blades, the generators constantly regenerating the blade's edge. The only way to effectively take them down is to destroy the generators, which link up to the zoid’s core in a melee version of the Beam Gatling Unit, or take out the emitters which are at the base of the laser sabers. Thanks to an energy recurve design, wherein the looping shield feeds itself, it requires little input from the generator unless it is actually cutting something.
The use of this weapon with the shield generators is enough to induce premature old age in a Liger. Simply using these weapons can overheat a zoid that has lost a couple of heat sinks. It takes half a second to raise the blades. This is a terrible weapon, to be sure, but also one that requires much skill and practice to use effectively.
