A rather simple design drawing on technology from centuries past, the Tortoise Treads allow the Cannon Tortoise to move about much easier and the Stealth Viper to just plain look bizarre. And fire the CP-05 with far more impunity. Can’t forget that.
The treads are about seven meters long and half a meter wide, each. They are rubber-belted with steel tracks, sporting two dozen wheels to provide maximum flexibility and traction. The treads mount to the side of the Cannon Tortoise’s shell, deploying downwards to motor up with the legs, while the Stealth Viper’s treads mount to the sides of its core block. The treads increase the Cannon Tortoise’s speed to 100 km/h and the Viper’s to 220 km/h. A pair of anchor spikes deploy down the fronts of the treads to hold the zoid in place and prevent recoil from sending it flying backwards. Agility with the treads is fairly impressive, what with the zoids being able to turn on a dime even at top speed.
