Armor Description:
The Whale King. This was for the longest time the most enormous Zoid on the planet, until the Great Whale King was destroyed. However, the standard Whale King itself is a tough beast. The Whale King sports armour a full meter thick, constructed of materials rivalling the Giga Gojulas for durability, though without the inherent resistance to beams and plasma. A Charged Particle Gun could punch through this armour, but not much else can unless applied very liberally. Secondly, the structure of the Whale King is immensely tough, having to sustain a high cross-section structural integrity for diving and flying.
Mobility and Power Source:
The Whale King is a transport. It doesn’t manoeuvre. However, it has a massive core, so it can fight for many days without tiring. The core is tough and utilitarian, able to provide a constant energy feed. For its size though, the Whale King is rather a light energy consumer. The Whale King uses a complex anti-gravity system built into the stubby wings on its side to hover and powerful ion thrusters to power through the skies or under the water.
Equipment
ASZ Electron Mass Driver
The front of the Whale King has a bright green section that many people falsely assume is the bridge. This is not the case. Upon command from the bridge, this section slides up and back to reveal the ASZ Electron Mass Driver. ASZ stands for Anti-Super Zoid, and that is exactly what this cannon is meant to do. Utilizing a railcannon mechanism, this cannon is able to fling an AZ788mm high explosive armour piercing shell at speeds of Mach Twelve, able to punch into and through any normal and even most Zeta-class Zoids. The mass driver is massively powerful, more than three times that of the Long Tom, and can fire once every 60 seconds.
ASZ Triple 244mm Cannon
Mounted on the top of the Whale King is a turret that has three barrels, and that is this weapon. It faces forward, but is able to turret up to point straight up into the sky, but there is a reason for this. When the entire Whale King opens up, the section that this launcher is mounted on flips up, so in the vertical setting this gun still points directly ahead. Each of these barrels is semi-automatic, so it’s able to lay down an impressive volley of power with these cannons.
ASZ Dual-Barrelled 72mm Electron Cannon x6
On either side of the Whale King, near the top front, are two sets of cannons, while one more is located under the front of the Whale King, and the final one points backward, fixed on the top rear of the Whale King. These are the Dual Electron Cannons. They rely on a sort of low-powered Gauss mechanism to propel bullets to twice their normal speed, allowing for increased penetration and damage. They function underwater or in the air just as effectively. Each Dual set fires twice per second, for some good aggregate damage.
Main Dock
This is the real reason for the Whale King, transporting and maintaining Zoids for battle. The main dock, taking up around half of the Whale King, is able to hold approximately ten Zoids in comfort. There are repair and modification stations, diagnostic computers, the works, and even a large crane attached to the roof for installing heavy modifications. The ten maintenance zones are equipped with magnetizing floors to hold Zoids tight. There are three exits from this dock. Firstly, there’s the one that leads out of the mouth, effectively lowering it to act as a ramp. Secondly, a section of the left and right sides can slide down to be exposed to the outside, and they are also magnetized, so Zoids can stand on them. Each of these has a ramp at the front that lowers down to meet the ground. There’s actually a fourth, rarely used exit, where a section of the roof flips up, swinging the Triple 244mm Cannons forward a complete 90 degrees. This slot is rather tight, but smaller aerial Zoids can get out of it. It’s basically just wide enough for a Red Horn to fit through, which was the original intent. There’s a powerful hydraulic system that lifts a magnetized section of the floor up to fit into this area, allowing Zoids to fight from the roof of the Whale King.
Rear Aircraft Catapult
The top half of the rear can flip up to reveal a rear hangar designed to hold and launch aerial Zoids, able to fit four aerial Zoids of standard size into it. The sections are magnetized, as per the main dock, and there’s a runway ramp that uses hydraulics to angle upwards, roughly fifty meters long, to use as a runway.
Underside Hangar
On the bottom of the Whale King, behind the small flight wings, is a small hangar that opens to face downwards, which has two purposes. Firstly, and mainly, it was designed to hold two automated Zabats, allowing for some aerial defence if needed. However, it is possible to carry instead two Sinkers in this hangar, and people get into it through a hatch on it’s roof. If this is opened while people are in the hangar but not in their Zoids, they would likely fall to their doom, considering the main hatch for this section flips down, while magnetic units and struts hold the Zoids to the roof. This hangar has a system designed to pump water out of it for when it launches Sinkers.
Tracking RADAR
The Whale King uses this system to keep an eye on the Zoids it carries once they’re launched, and to get a basic idea of the terrain and enemies. Up in the air it can see for hundreds of kilometres, but the range drops as you get closer to the ground, to a five kilometre range at ground level. The RADAR system is 3D, but not particularly complex, allowing you to use basic radar devices to keep track of normal Zoids. There’s also a sonar included for underwater travel. The data can be sent to allied units, even during Official Battles.
