Lance Asakura - February 2, 2006 09:56 PM (GMT)
Character’s Name: Lance Asakura
Character's Gender: Male
Character's Age: 21
Character's Birthplace: South-Eastern Coast of Nyx
Character's Height: 5 ft 6 inches
Character's Weight: 112 lbs

Character's Appearance: Lance is what most people would call a midget except for the fact that he looks younger then he really is. His raven black hair is slightly spiked and goes down to his shoulders his hair always seeming to get in the way of his face. His pale sapphire eyes seem to sparkle with occasional mischief or seem distant as he recalls past experiences. His childlike looks are completely offset by his mature expressions making some people wonder just how old he is. His skin is fair more pale if anything as he's stayed indoors or in a zoid cockpit nearly all the time not one for social sort of things.

Across his hands are numerous scars that he picked up during a faulty zoid test when he was trying to install new weapon systems in a Command Wolf. To cover his hands are black leather gloves that leave his fingers bare but cover his hands completely for the most part. His wiry frame is slightly built like a mix of an acrobat and a fencer, this shows notably when he practices with a melee type weapon (that is whenever he gets a new one). Dangling from his neck is a silver chain with a silver medallion that has a peculiar engravement of a wolf and crescent moon.

His shoes are rather worn boots but still in good condition and of course still waterproof thankfully though they are in need of a good polish. His clothes are preferably black or dark blue and have slightly faded looks to them even a few having a tear here or there (jeans, khaki's, t-shirts, long-sleeve shirts). He wears a black and gray jacket that has a fang design on the back and once again the same symbol on his medallion on the left of the chest. He has more but he doesn't like to flaunt his wealth like others.

Character's Personality: A rather complex personality making it appear that Lance is never satisfied by keeping things nice and simple. His outward expression constantly is generally friendly when a person gets to know him. However, if he doesn't know the person he makes himself appear aloof and distant like some sort of deity or prophet. He is a tad weary of new situations for the most part having rather bad experiences more then a few times.

His distaste of the ZBC could fill up volumes if you let him get away with the rantings as he has little if any faith at all in the ZBC. Although smart and entirely clever, he is not exactly what a person who call aggressive. Instead he treats everyone as an associate in business and keeps this under a neutral facade to keep his true feelings to himself. Although he can be brave and act heroic when the situation demands it he knows he is not invincible and has been shaken up on several occasions. He enjoys drawing, trying to build up his fighting skills, and of course building models. Customizer? Yes. Trigger happy maniac? Defiantly.

In truth Lance won't even admit have of the secrets he is hiding from people and very few people know some of what happened to Lance. He doesn't let on what he's really thinking the few that have penetrated through have found him darker and moodier then he seemed on first impressions. Anytime he drinks he has a rather distant and melancholy expression as he remembers past experiences he would rather not remember at all. A good person to have with nevertheless as long as you’re willing to not pressure him into doing things which is a pet peeve of his.

Character History: Lance was born to two mercenary pilots who had for the most part retired. Sorin Alistin Kalinto, was a strong willed man who wore his pride like a banner. His imposing and confident figure was one men could respect and envy at the same time. Serena Sylvanos Kalinto was a petite and soft-spoken woman. Her intelligence and simple beauty were quite thrown offset by her drive to win. Regardless of these parents both sides of the family had a long history tracing their lines some say to the beginning of the fabled Republic-Guylos War.

The family was rather quiet with Lance being the youngest of three siblings. His elder brother being the model prep student so to speak with those cute looks that most girls would be flattered to be beside. His sister was more the pessimistic gothic sort of person whose dry humor Lance seems to show quite often in his own views of things. The family lived in a research town set up by a private organization on the south-eastern coast of Nyx.

At least that was the front the organization put up. The organization whose name these days ever changes was run by a dark man by the name of Seifer. Some say he is Prozen reborn of those that know the tale. However all that have met him agree on one thing, that Seifer is insane and driven by a lust for power. He seems to be driven nothing for then a passion for cruelty and his drive to become the most powerful man on Zi. Suffering and despair were his tools of preference as he began the Black Hand program.

The program in short was designed to turn children into specially conditioned killing machines for his private usage. Seifer selected children, ten in all, around the ages of four to six years in age. He determined that it was during this age that was best suited to teach and instill new ethics into them. Also because he felt the drive to learn was stronger at a younger age. The families of the children he selected were swiftly murdered to remind people that to resist meant death.

Lance was one of the ones selected being the age of six himself during this time. Seifer had all the memories tampered with and gave each a name that resembled their original full names. But he also gave false names as well which includes Lance's. Lance seemed to find this preferable, given that the other name only reminded him of his family's deaths. The training needless to say made cruel a gross understatement. Forced education. Atrociously difficult tasks. Various repeated tortures and even drug injections became the norm. All of this to create seeming super-soldiers and lethal assassins whom Seifer demanded full obedience from.

Four of the number died over the course of six years and those who survived all but lost their humanities and morals. Uneasy alliances were made between the survivors but would be betrayed and broken if personal gain would be affected. Regardless Seifer finally broke them up and sent them on their missions. Each was subjected to a memory subversion their dark missions buried in the subconscious.

Lance was sent to the house of the Loraine family a family said to have fabulous wealth and political power. A specially set-up scene caused the Patriarch of the family to come across him. A man of fortitude but with a kind heart, Lord Loraine took the freezing Lance back to his home and took him in. Fully unaware that Lance would one day be the weapon destined to bring his downfall. Lance recovered under the tender care of the family's servants and sought for a way to pay this kindness back.

Fate it seemed granted the wish a bandit attack came during the eve when Lance was touring the hanger. A blaring alarm went off and Lance found himself scrambling to a Red Horn cockpit. The zoid was in damaged condition and Lance found this out quickly as he scrambled out with the zoid and fought as best he could. Needless to say damaged zoids don't fight well as the Red Horn was quickly disabled and cockpit damages leaving Lance with several injuries. The bandits were driven off however though whether Lance played a key part in it is unknown.

When he awoke Lance found himself in a medical bed having been pried out of the cockpit after the battle. Looking around he saw Lord Loraine himself studying him intently while sitting in an armchair causing Lance to unconsciously flush. Lance began to profusely apologize for the wrecking of the Red Horn; but, Lord Loraine brushed it off with a dismissive gesture puzzling Lance mightily.

From that point on Lance became a member of the family's guards. But good times don't last forever as Seifer's plans were about to come to horrible life. Over the year as Seifer planned and plotted Lance was exposed to art, ethics, and even an appreciation of life. What Seifer had purposefully left out Lance was now being exposed to perhaps being the greatest flaw in Seifer's program. The captain was surprised at Lance's comprehension and skill in piloting zoids unaware of the training he had received under Seifer.

Lance knew Lord Loraine had a daughter after all the guards reckoned her to be an enchanting beauty that they would love to do certain things with. Well at least the younger ones anyways the older ones chuckled and murmured something about hormones going rampant again. Being that Lance wasn't really knowledgeable in certain things he found himself shoving aside strange impulses now being the age of thirteen. By this point he was a full-fledged guard and often found himself guarding the family more closely rather than going on dull patrols. A chance assignment found himself functioning as the personal guard to Calais Loraine. Lance himself was quite confused what to say and for some reason her looks left him more then a little nervous.

He stayed honest however and interacted with her as little as possible, nobility as well as her good looks both made him quite nervous. Days past by in a seeming breeze and Seifer finally caught Lance alone near the outskirts of the family compound. He spoke the key words to put Lance in a trance and bring forth the mission to finally send Lance to do what he was trained for. Lance hid explosives in key points of Lord Loraine's Liger the explosives having enough strength to cripple the zoid. When dawn came around and Lord and Lady Loraine were leaving in the Liger with a guard detachment Lance activated the explosives. The detonation crippled the zoid as well as killing Lady Loraine instantly as Lance hadn't expected anyone in the rear cockpit seat.

Lance finally snapped out of the trance with the knowledge of everything he had done and he was simply horrified at it. Seifer had used Lance completely to find the family's strengths and weaknesses and now he was expertly employing it. Lance however had more of his memory subverted then Siefer had realized and rejected what he had done and ran. The next couple years were a blue as Lance delved into various studies and wandered the continents. He fought in illegal battles and began working his money into business as he continued his spiral into heartlessness. His practicalness and natural genius helped him build his money to what many would consider wealthy. Lance killed when necessary not caring what needed to be done to survive.

In his wanderings he finally stopped for awhile and joined the Silver Fangs a team led by the madman Vincent Fury. Lance himself headed to the nearby town mostly to wander and to his surprise he crossed paths with an old ally. Something tugged at his insides motivating him into helping him out. Helping him get into the Silver Fangs Lance was puzzled why he would help anyone. However, peace never lasts and one of Vincent's attempts to create the perfect zoid ran rampant through the base destroying the zoid Lance was in as well as injuring him.

The prototype had been subdued but still the now insane Silver Fang's Captain planned. Several months after the prototype incident Vincent declared a revolution against the ZBC with his loyal team members. Lance left the team being guided by common sense as the team was quickly crushed under the ZBC's superior might. Brilliant-minded he was in many things he was a complete innocent when it came to normal human interactions. Still there was the question of what to do. He had money he had wealth and now at the age of 21 he was an established pilot. Where would this road take him in the era of Metal Combat? That question it seems is still to be answered.
