Title: Gary Stuart

Solaris - February 2, 2006 05:03 PM (GMT)
Name: Gary Stuart
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Nationality: Republican

Personality
Gary is a quiet and contemplative natural leader. He exudes and aura of alm and silent confidence thanks to his experience as a big brother and volunteer firefighter. He allows others their input, letting others discuss things as they will, but he usually steps into the discussion to steer it towards his goal. Very often, Gary's solution is the best one. God help he who disagrees.
That said; Gary has a deep-seated fear of failure. He's an excellent pilot and captain, so long as he's winning, but when he starts losing everything falls apart. The only times he loses his temper are when he and his team are losing badly.

Background
Gary was born and raised in a small town in Delpoi. It was a small town by the name of Winding Stream, a hamlet surrounded on all sides by farmland. They were used to frequent earthquakes, but nobody was prepared for the event that would change all their lives and destroy Winding Stream.
In NC 80, when Gary was nine years old, a hapless farmer discovered a plume of magma the hard way. It quickly grew into a full-fledged volcano, engulfing the town in fiery lava before many of the residents could flee. The Stuarts only survived because they were on the opposite side of town, in a park. Gary's only real memory of the occurance was watching the trees burn before the advancing phalanx of pyroclastic flow. They lost a dog, two cats, and everything they owned save the father's Gustav to the new Mt Winding Stream. Gary picked up a deep loathing of fire and a burning hatred of arsonists in particular.
Escaping to New Helic City, the Stuarts lived with the boys' hale great-grandparents until they moved to one of the suburbs. Gary's great-grandfather, Leon Toros, was a retired zoid pilot. Naturally, Grandpa Toros started taking the boys to zoid matches. Gary and his younger brother, Aden, caught the zoid bug. Nine years passed before Gary could pilot a zoid, and a week after his eighteenth birthday Grandpa Toros took Gary to get his first zoid.
Gary, for reasons known only to himself, selected a Guysack. Aden would later take Grandpa Toros's old Red Blade Liger when they found it in a junkyard, but Gary went for the older-model Xaratan Special. As Grandpa Toros put it, Rick was one of the best pilots of his generation. Too bad Leon couldn't battle him, what with Leon being in his seventies at the time.
Gary swore the shriveled old man held on just to spite certain now-deceased pilots.
That was three years ago. Now a geologist in training and a volunteer firefighter, Gary Stuart submitted three applications to the ZBC before being accepted as a registered pilot. He captains the Stonecutters team with his younger brother, Aden, as Republic-league pilots.

Appearance
Gary stands at 6'1" and weighs 186 pounds. He prefers casual wear, even in the zoid cockpit, and wears jeans, work boots, workshirts and a bomber jacket. Gary's eyes and crew-cut hair are brown, while his scruffy moustache is black. Gary's physique is well-built, though by no means particularly impressive; he has to keep in shape for firefighting.
