Title: Mariner Royale
Orpheus - February 1, 2006 12:30 AM (GMT)
Mariner Royale
Date: February Fourth
Type: Big Bad Battle
Terrain: The battle will be held in a lake, 500m in radius, and seventy-five meters deep. Of course, it gets shallower as you near the shore, and the ground is a murky silt. not enough to sink into, but enough so that Zoids standing on the floor and moving too much will be hidden in silt.
Battlemode: 0980
Distance: The Mariner begins in the center of the lake. Everyone else is 200 meters away from it, in a circle, equally spaced.
Prizes for the Tourny
Best Show: Mariner Upgrade for winner's Zoid OR 2 Custom Mod Slips
Best Sportsman: 1 Free Modification Slip + 15,000 to the pilot's funds
Sole Survivor: 1 Free Modification Slip
Participation: 7,500 to the pilot's funds
One of the more recently created tournaments is the Mariner Royale, a ferocious battle that pits newly revived Gojulas Mariner Type 17 against any pilots who dare to fight it. The Mariner is an upgraded AIZDAT design that utilizes a Delta Unit to improve reaction time and agility within the water. Originally the Type 18 was to be fighting as well, but ZBC officials deemed the challenge too hard, especially given the immense power of the Type 18.
Because of the lack of aquatic Zoids, pilots are able to trade their Zoids to the ZBC for any aquatic Zoid equal to or less than the level of the Zoid they swapped. The pilots may also claim a number of modifications equal to the amount they normally would use with their Zoid. These aquatic Zoids are used for this battle and then returned with an amount of funds equal to the repair bill, and the original Zoids are returned to their owners. Due to the lack of freely available Alpha-class aquatic units, anyone swapping in an Beta can claim a Beta aquatic Zoid. There is a certain aquatic upgrade for a certain Alpha-level Zoid that will be revealed before the Mariner Royale, and that itself will be treated as one of the rentable Beta aquatic Zoids ^_^
This is a wonderful chance for the underdog pilots to put their skills on show, as due to the timeframe none of the pilots in the Royal Cup will be participating. Team Dawnstar, Vagrant, Pointy Darkness, etc etc, will not be attending. There will be a strict ten pilot limit on this battle, because this is my first and I want to know I can handle it. People, show us your skills!
Alllrighty. Slots are filled, but I can still boot Vincent to fit in another board member, for a bit of variety. And there's been a change. Due to school, I'm starting this match no later than the seventh.

Armour Description:
The structure of the Gojulas has also been enhanced beyond its standard design, reinforced and toughened to withstand the greater pressures experienced on the seabed. In composition, the Mariner’s structure is roughly as dense and tough as that of the Iron Kong, and it is completely recoloured to an aqua blue tinge. Some of the weapons have been completely redesigned for underwater combat, and this includes a stock of torpedoes built into the Mariner’s back. This stock protrudes slightly, but the redesigned chassis remains capable of mounting the Supercannons, which have also been redesigned for aquatic usage and come standard with the Type 17 Mariner.
Mobility and Power Source:
Mounted onto the upper arms of the Gojulas Mariner Type 17 are a pair of ion thrusters, and a similar pair are mounted on either side of the base of the tail. There is a third pair on the back, on either side of the Supercannon mount. With these three thruster pairs combining, the Mariner can actually swim in a horizontal manner. Because of the structure overhaul, the Gojulas Mariner has a slightly higher top speed than the standard Gojulas. Also, the Gojulas Mariner utilizes hydrogen cells to provide power, meaning that once the Mariner is submerged, it is near impossible to tire out. However, the stamina of the Mariner on land is only just over half that of the regular Gojulas. The Mariner actually has some average level maneuverability in the water, mostly thanks to the rudder vane and spines that allow for easier turning.
Weapons
Hyper Bite Fangs
The Gojulas has a big mouth, full of long, pointy, sharp teeth. Do you see what I’m getting at? A bite from the Gojulas applies huge amounts of pressure, in excess of 200 tons per square meter. And with those razor-pointed teeth, punching through armour is not a very difficult task at all. Using the tail as a counter balance, the Gojulas can actually bend down to a mere five meters above ground level, so it is fully capable of snatching up things in its teeth, and it can lift up to 100 tons with its mouth. However, in the water, the design of the mouth is rather inefficient at biting, and the Mariner will find it hard to snap down on the faster and more agile sea critters.
Crusher Claws
The claws of the Gojulas are made from a special hardened alloy that makes them incredibly tough, and they have a unique hydraulic system that allows them to grip and grab things very well. Each claw is capable of lifting around 35 tons, and combined can lift around 90 tons. Once something is in these claws, they can apply roughly 12 tons of pressure per square meter, allowing them to buckle and crack armour with some effort. However, with a pair of environmental thrusters on the arms, it can be very difficult for the Mariner to grab anything.
Twin Torpedo Pods
Mounted on either side of the chest, where the 70mm Machineguns can be found on a regular Gojulas, is a heavily armoured pod loaded up with Heavy Torpedoes. These torpedoes are for underwater use only, but they lock using a combination of sonar and visual tracking, so they can hunt down prey. The torpedoes move at roughly 300 knots (155m/s), more than quick enough to outrun any foes that may be fleeing the Gojulas Mariner. The pods can each fire one torpedo at a time, and it takes a second to reload, while lock times vary based on conditions. The torpedoes each pack the explosive power of two missiles, and are perfect for breaching the hulls of aquatic Zoids. The Gojulas Mariner stores torpedoes for each pod within heavily armoured ammunition units that have been fitted to the back, so each Torpedo Pod has a supply of sixteen torpedoes, including the one that is pre-loaded.
Twin Republic Aquatic Supercannons
The Aquatic Supercannons are mounted onto a special mount that allows them to point straight ahead when the Mariner is swimming, and can pivot up and down by about 20 degrees. The cannons cannot really be used while the Gojulas is standing up, but if the Gojulas leans over it is able to fire the Supercannons with a little difficulty, so these aren’t really designed for land use. The shells of the supercannons are similar to those of the normal supercannons, but are slightly more hydrodynamic. The Supercannons are loaded up with eight shells each, and the mechanism is slightly faster than the land based one, each cannon being able to fire once every six seconds, so that two shots may be fired per turn. These shells move incredibly quickly, especially for underwater, able to break Mach 2 even underwater, so good luck getting your Zoids out of the way. These are so powerful that a single direct hit will generally sink your average aquatic Zoid, except maybe a Hammerhead.
Twin AMD Dual 30mm Beam Cannons
Mounted on either side of the Gojulas’ tail, where it joins the main body of the Gojulas, is a single double-barreled beam cannon. These are very fast firing weapons, around thirty rounds a second, and they have a range from facing directly up, to 85 degrees down towards the rear. While these guns are not very well positioned for attacking enemy Zoids, that is not their purpose. The AMD in their names designates them as Anti Missile Defense cannons, designed to shoot down the missiles from aerial Zoids that may attack the Gojulas.
Twin Maxer 30mm Multi-Purpose Machineguns
These two cannons are fixed rear-facing on the tip of the Gojulas’ tail, so they fire wherever the tail is facing. They fire 30mm Maxer shells at a rate of around 15 rounds a second. But what are Maxer shells? They are specially-tipped rounds that are effectively as strong as 42mm shells. Due to the multi-purpose construction, these machineguns can fire underwater.
Aquatic Environmental Thruster x6
Located on each arm is a fairly large, flattish ionization thruster used to propel the Mariner through the water. There is also a larger pair to be found on the back, and another larger pair at the base of the tail on either side. These thrusters are actually hydrogen ionization thrusters, so they run on the water that flows through them, meaning they don’t draw any power from the Gojulas Mariner itself. Each of the bigger pairs of boosters contribute 15 knots to the top speed of the Mariner, while the smaller arm-mounted pair add 10 knots. The Gojulas can switch off all the engines and walk underwater at a speed of 25 knots, if it so wishes.
Maneuvering Spine x5
Mounted on the back of the Gojulas Mariner Type 17, running down the spine, are five large spines similar to what the normal Gojulas might sport, but these are each centered on a central positioning vane, allowing them to twist and turn slightly to aid the turning and antics of the Type 17 under the water. Destroying these will reduce its maneuverability, but they are about as tough as the rest of the Mariner, only a little easier to target.
Rudder Vane
Mounted on the underside of the tail, right at the tip is a medium-sized rudder vane made of the same stuff as the Type 17’s armour, and this is really vital to good turning with the Gojulas Mariner. Without it the Mariner can turn still, using the tail, but much more slowly.
Sonar
As all good aquatic Zoids should, the Gojulas Mariner is outfitted with an accurate and very useful sonar device. This system is only of use underwater, but it accurately detects Zoids and creates maps of the entire aquatic environment around you, in full 3D. It’s an incredibly useful device.

Okay, will submit. But, Atta can;t change zoids. He is the shield liger. So no real good way fro him to change zoids.
MArk , saber tiger, will trade for a warshark. as Mark has no mods yet, he will go normal warshark.
Atta will go as himself as he is the shield liger. I mean, he cna;t jsut trade himself in.
Augustus - February 1, 2006 09:05 AM (GMT)
Heh, never expected you guys to get it up and running so soon; impressive. Kudos to the staff, I'm in ^_^. The Godos is a permanant addition to my menagerie, but I'll definitely pick up something water-worthy before then.
Orpheus - February 1, 2006 10:51 AM (GMT)
Thanks man. And Mark, Atta can't actually go as he is. PM me and we'll see about setting up either a temporary personality transfer via something like a Delta Unit, or I could see about getting my character Ben to jury-rig you a temporary aquatic adaption unit. PM me about it. The same goes for any other characters that are actually Zoids and not pilots.

Hey man, that was all Orpheus. There's a reason I made him staff.
And just in case, you can only have one zoid per pilot. Melissa Harding's zoid is the Godos.
You could Wish to have the Godos evolve to a Gojulas, though. That would definitely open you up to receive the Mariner upgrade.
Orpheus - February 1, 2006 04:04 PM (GMT)
Yeah, this Royale is my baby. I have fostered and nurtured it, and now I get to be the one behind the controls of this thing ^_^. If you evolve to a Gojulas, you'd be able to swap it for a Delta class aquatic or whatever, and if you won you'd pretty much get the Mariner as it is in the bio right there actually, as far as I can tell. Just think of it... "Mariner the Ogre".... He'd be like Redbeard on crack.
forgetfulencinda - February 2, 2006 12:02 AM (GMT)
A lot like Kitsume I would like to trade in the saber fang for a warshark unless flying units are going to be allowed into this. Helseeker probaly should just sit this out.
Orpheus - February 2, 2006 12:14 AM (GMT)
Not unless that aerial can go underwater. So I'll sign you up with a Warshark.
forgetfulencinda - February 2, 2006 12:46 AM (GMT)
Actualy is to late to go as an crimson molga?
Orpheus - February 2, 2006 12:53 AM (GMT)
Nope, I'll change it now.

Oh, and, Encinda, you get mad style points for using the Crimson Molga. Just watch where you're dropping those depth charges, matey.
forgetfulencinda - February 2, 2006 02:46 AM (GMT)
Aye matey I shall fly my golly roger with a yar unlike these landlubbers
Lance Asakura - February 2, 2006 11:32 PM (GMT)
Singing in.
I'll have data soon.
Orpheus - February 2, 2006 11:48 PM (GMT)
Right. We're full. I'm still willing to drop Vincent to allow another Member to join this, so PM me if you decide you want to. Due to boredom and school beginning soon, I'm moving this forward to the seventh, Australian time. It'll be staged in a lake near the coast of the Central Continent, so watch for the Arena Battle to start in that forum.
Lance Asakura - February 3, 2006 12:03 AM (GMT)
Zoid: Warshark
Modifcations: Narwhal Spear, Leviathen Booster
Orpheus - February 3, 2006 12:06 AM (GMT)
Alright. I assume that means your starting Zoid is going to be a Gamma with two mods?
Lance Asakura - February 3, 2006 12:07 AM (GMT)
-shrugs-
Not sure what Sol meant he just told me to sign up so I'll ask him.
Orpheus - February 3, 2006 12:11 AM (GMT)
You can only claim a number of mods equal to the number that your Zoid can use, and you already own. For instance, you have a Shield Liger, so you can get a Warshark. If you had, say... CP-01 and CP-15, you could use the two mods. If you owned only one, you can choose only one mod for the Warshark. Simple really.
Solaris - February 3, 2006 12:13 AM (GMT)
I was operating under the assumption that mods were free. Apparently, I was mistaken. Considering his Team has 272.5k available for spending, he could start off with an Epsilon if Angel authorized the spending.
((She's not, by the way. But she will buy a coupla mods for the Gamma.))
Lance Asakura - February 3, 2006 12:13 AM (GMT)
Alrighty yes the Shieldy is gonna have two mods. >_>
kitsune106 - February 3, 2006 12:32 AM (GMT)
Atta will be transferring to a Crimson mogla as well. As he has he CP-01 mods, what mods can teh crimson mogla use then? (he, got both a surface unit and an autic unit to go chasing down the goujlas.)

As far as I know, you can use the Cannonry Unit, for all the help that will be.... not many Molga mods are designed for aquatic usage.
Orpheus - February 3, 2006 12:52 PM (GMT)
Right. Since I just found out tonight that I have tasks for the seventh and eighth, I'm fast forwarding this to the fourth. Which is in ten minutes time for me. This really doesn't make all that much difference, as its an arena battle. See you there.
