One of the very simplest modifications available on the market is this small, lightweight pod loaded up with two anti-air missiles. The pod sports an adaptable mounting brace, allowing it to mount right onto the wings of pretty much every flying Zoid currently in use by the ZBC. Due to balance issues, most of the Zoids will need to use two simultaneously, one per wing, to fly correctly, while the Saicurtis and Double Sworder mount a single pod on their underbellies and thus don’t have this problem.
The pod is small, squat, and constructed out of material that is about as tough as the armour on a Reddler, though it’s unlikely that the missile pod will be hit before the wing it is mounted on is torn apart. The pod is open ended, loaded with two high-acceleration missiles fitted with directional shrapnel warheads. Mounted on the tip of each missile is a broad-range laser sensor that can effectively track any Zoid within its frontal arc, making the missiles hard to shake off. Because they are laser-tracking instead of standard IR and visual tracking, infrared suppression isn’t effective against this missiles, and they will ignore flare systems that rely on heat to draw away a missile lock.
Once a missile gets within a specific distance of the target Zoid, the warhead explodes, spraying shrapnel in a relatively focused cone that will shred and tear through most flying Zoids with some ease, doing quite a lot of damage. The main issue with these missiles is that they take a long time to lock, and require the user to keep the target Zoid within their sights for roughly three seconds, which can sometimes be a hard ask.
