Armour Description:
The Deadborder was one of the first of the old Guylos ‘Dark Zoids’, and this can be seen by the armour coloration. The Deadborder’s armour was made using a material that absorbs a large amount of light, resulting in there always being shadows around the Deadborder, and a drop of a few degrees in temperature. However, this really has nothing to do with the combat capabilities of the armour. The Deadborder was designed to go up against Gojulai, before the Guylos Empire absorbed the Iron Kongs into its forces, and as such, has some really good armour. Certainly, the armour is up there with that of the Gojulas, just a little below it. The coverage is generally very good, with the weak spots mostly being around the joints.
Mobility and Power Source:
The Deadborder is not a particularly agile Zoid, its large dragging tail reducing the maneuverability quite a bit. The speed that the Deadborder can maintain is still much higher than that of the Gojulas, but the turning is like that of a beached whale at speeds above 70 km/h. The Zoid also has a few balance issues, so if it is knocked on its side, it will have a hard time getting back up. The core is a powerful design that can draw power for quite a while. The Deadborder can easily match a stock Gojulas in a battle in most cases, being faster, slightly more maneuverable, and with a far greater array of weapons, but it is physically much weaker, and every single weapon on the Deadborder is strictly for frontal use only, making it prone to attack from the sides or rear.
Heavy Weapon Pods
Mounted over either shoulder, each pod holds a Gravity Cannon, and a 150mm Cannon. These are capable of being inclined 90 degrees upward and a good 45 downwards.
Dual 150mm Cannons
Standard 150mm Cannons, these fire projectile shells at a semi-automatic rate, laying down the law against Zoids that happen to get in the way. Unlike many weapons with a caliber above 120mm, these cannons are not Anti-Zoid, so they aren’t quite as effective as most cannons of this scale seem to be. These cannons are mounted right below the Gravity Cannons
Gravity Cannons
The Gravity Cannons mounted on the Deadborder were experimental devices designed to combat the newest weapon of the Republic, the super cannons. Operating in much the same way as a super cannon, the Gravity Cannon fires 288mm slugs using advanced electromagnetic rails, creating a particularly vicious railgun. The whole reason these cannons are built into the Heavy Weapon Pods is because those pods contain delicate recoil-dampening systems that are vital to proper use of the Gravity Cannons. The slugs are made out of an ultradense material called Planetelecite, a very rare substance that has the required weight and density to lay down a massive beating against any Zoid. The shells tend to shatter on impact, doing little structural damage but stripping away even the toughest of armour in a half meter radius around the impact Zone. A hit by a Gravity Cannon to bare structure would remove the limbs of most weaker Zoids. Unfortunately, due to the scarcity of Planetelecite, each Gravity Cannon carries only one shell.
Twin Dual 60mm Beam Cannons
Mounted in the upper section of the chest, fixed facing forwards, there are two paired sets of 60mm beam cannons. The paired cannons alternate fire so that each pair fires 3 shots a second, allowing for some respectable damage. However, continuous firing of these, along with the Tri-Beam Array and the 110mm Laser Cannons will quickly exhaust the Deadborder.
45mm Tri-Beam Array
Located in the stomach of the Deadborder, just above the flamethrower, there is a cluster of three 45mm beam cannons. Because they are clustered they achieve a much more damaging hit, impacting against already damaged armour. Each cannon can fire twice per second, for a respectable amount of damage, but they only face forwards.
Plasma Flamethrower
Similar to the Pyro-Blaze Emitter of the Salamander, this squat and stubby barrel installed in the stomach of the Deadborder can spew burning plasma to a distance of twenty meters for three-second bursts before requiring three more seconds to cool. Being plasma, the flames of this device can melt through almost anything, but due to the dispersed nature take a little longer than plasma cannons and the like. The tanks hold 24 seconds worth of plasma, and they are stored in the stomach, beneath the armour. However, if something were to puncture these pressurized tanks, it would not be pretty.
Dual 110mm Laser Cannons
Mounted to the sides of the Deadborder’s chest, beside the quad missile pods, are two rather large laser cannons. Not as powerful as beam cannons, the laser cannons consume far less energy, and are as accurate as the human piloting the Deadborder, due to zero recoil. Because they are lasers, you cannot see the 110mm cannons firing, but a pilot will know when they hit. They are locked facing forwards, with no movement capability at all.
Quad 4-Shot Multi-Purpose Missile Pods
Installed into the chest of the Deadborder, between the 60mm cannons and the Tri-Beam Array, are four small armoured hatches. Each of these contains a pod stocked with four small multi-purpose missiles, able to target land and air targets with equal ease. The missiles only pack half the warhead of a regular missile, due to space constraints, and each pod can fire missiles at a rate of one every two seconds, due to lock on and reload time. The missiles track via infrared.
High-Pressure Acid Spray Nozzle
Mounted in the mouth of the Deadborder, this is truly a weapon to be feared. Capable of spraying large amounts of nitric acid, it can reduce armor to brittle plates of metal in a relatively short time, ultimately eating through it after a while. The spray starts off at 70 meters and decreases down as the round progresses ultimately spraying at a measily 10 meters by the end of the round. For every second it is fired it needs to be repressurized gaining 10m for every second of charging. Unfortunately because of the area it occupies the Halatosis and Acid Spray can't be mounted at the same time, needing to have the entire lower jaw and neck replaced in order to have on or the other, meaning you can only have one or the other for the match.
High-Sensitivity Sensory Unit
Installed internally, the HS Sensory Unit provides an omnidirectional Doppler radar with a range of five kilometers. Because this unit is a high-sensitivity model, RAM paint and radar scramblers are 50% less effective against it than normal radar. The Deadborder can utilize this radar for all manner of things.
