Title: Oh Come, All Ye Faithful
Description: I swear I've used that title before

Solaris - January 16, 2006 07:22 PM (GMT)
The rugged beauty of Nyx amazes even the most jaded pilots. This glacier is huge, spanning most of the northern reaches. It is, in fact, the lower reaches of the northern ice sheet. The stark black stone against the brilliant blue-and-white ice creates an almost hypnotic effect as the Whale Kings float overhead. The Whale Kings float towards a great blue and white zoid, a massive beast perfectly at home in this forbidding environment. Snow swirls, flurries growing into what will be a blizzard.
The Draconis awaits. A walking battleship, it has thick slabs of armor rivetted in place, two turrets more aptly called 'gun batteries,' and wings feathered with keen blades.
It made a courteous bow of the head when the Whale Kings landed, and the pilot's voice crackled over the comms. "I am Doctor Druidine. I pilot the Draconis. For the record, state which zoids you have, which teams you are on, your ranks and your teams' ranks, and what modifications you are using."
The voice is low and gravelly, worn and world-weary. Solaris's face appears moments later. He is an Arabic man in his sixties, with snowy white hair, milky blue eyes, and a pale scar cutting across his dark cheek. He radiates an air of quiet power. This is the famed Republican general who took out one of the Geno Trio single-handedly.
This is the zoid he did it in.

Solaris - January 19, 2006 04:38 PM (GMT)
Dawnstar's blue and black Gustav trundled out, pulling three zoids on open trailers. The zoids powered up in turn, their pilots announcing themselves.
"Kyne Xaratan, Liger Zero Jaeger. Dawnstar, Tier A Team. Class D pilot." The Jaeger stepped off lightly, paws crunching the snowy ice.
"Jennifer Xaratan, Shield Liger DCS-J. Dawnstar. Class D pilot." The Leomaster stepped off the platform delicately, the pilot moving her zoid as though she were uncertain of her footing.
"Craters. Gordos with the Ontos and Matrix Shield Network mods. Dawnstar. Class D pilot." The Gordos stepped off and sank knee-deep into the snow. Hank found this less than amusing, but said nothing on the subject.
Hank opened a comms. frequency to all his team members, giving visual as well as audio feed. "By God it's great to be back together again!"
Jenny laughed. Her prosthetic shoulder was unnoticeable, even under the close-fitting flightsuit she wore. "That it is, Hank. Kyne, what's the plan?"
"The plan is to open fire and not stop shooting," Kyne replied tersely. "He's going to go for me. I'm the banner here - you all saw the advertisements." Kyne's newfound celebrity status amongst the piloting community did nothing to inflate his ego; it had already reached maximum capacity. "So I'm going to charge at him. Give him a good fight, and y'all can cut in when it looks like my partner's wearing me out."
The snow mounted still further. Now it was difficult to see the Draconis standing half a kilometer away, even with filtered images.

Solaris - January 19, 2006 04:50 PM (GMT)
Another three-trailered Gustav trundled out. It bore a Guysack, Hound Soldier, and Cannon Tortoise on its magna platforms.
"Ash Brackston, Class D, piloting RZ-042 with DP-01 and SS-04 modifications." Ash's voice was calm and cool, quite unlike Kyne's antsy and terse demeanor. His cane rested next to his dead right leg in the cockpit. Ash wore a buisiness suit, rather than the standard flightsuit most pilots wore.
"Gamma Unit Neo, Class D, piloting RZ-002 with HT-02, SS-05, and XP-01 modifications." The voice was clipped and almost mechanical, though the speaker rarely spoke so. She wore a red bodysuit with red-enameled ceramic armor.
"Roy Caldwell, Rank D, piloting RZ-014 with the CP-05 and TW-01 modifications." Roy's left leg kept jigging, though the Tortoise's sluggish movements didn't show the interference. He wisely remained on his platform, though the other two zoids joined the Dawnstar pilots.
"Sounds like a plan, Kyne." Ash spoke over the pilot band. "Although I'd like to see Neo go up against the Draconis. It should be an interesting test of her reaction speed."

From the Whale King a Gustav painted black with bright green decals and highlights, including what looked like a stylized wyvern on each side of the Gustav. From the belly of the Whale King bounded a Zoid, a stock model Command Wolf. The Wolf jumped nimbly to the ground, the young man in it pulling it skillfully to a balanced position on the icy ground.

"Ben Rivalto, Class D, piloting a Command Wolf" he transmitted as he prepared for his battle. Due to the cancellation of the Trick or Treat battle for unknown reasons, this was to be his first battle. Hopefully not his last either, as this man... had a fearful reputation, to say the least.

The Gustav began to release Zoids from its trailers, each of them stepping down onto the ground in turn. The first to come was a Gun Sniper, painted up in a dappled blue and white camo-design. It wasn't much against the Draconis, but being a sniper, the poor Gunny needed what help it could get. Inside its cockpit was Blaine, his face cool and calm. He transmitted his info dutifully.

"Blaine Fraizer, Class D, of Team Vagrant, Tier D, piloting Dragunov the Long-Shot, RZ-030 Gun Sniper equipped with AD-02 Melanoma Unit"

Following the GunSniper came a Lightning Saix, painted in black with green highlights, to match the team colours. It settled lightly on the ground, and the young lady inside transferred her data.

"Natalie Fraizer, Class E, of Team Vagrant, piloting Godspeed the Swift, EZ-035 Lightning Saix, mounting XP-04 Ghost Unit and ZM-28 Darkreign Unit"

The third Zoid that jumped off was again black with green highlights, and it landed with a crunch, sinking slightly in the snow, its bipedal form causing it to be slightly less stable than the previous Zoids. The young man inside looked a little nervous, his hair tied back to stop it from getting in his eyes. this made the lurid purple eye tattooed on his forehead very noticable.

"John Simmons, Class D, of Team Vagrant, piloting Feuersturm the Wild Gun, RZ-030+ Heavy Armour Gun Sniper equipped with CP-13 Wild Weasel Unit"

The final Zoid to disembark was natural black and green, and was the Zoid the team colours had been based off. It sunk straight into the snow down to its knees, and the man inside growled in annoyance. This meant he'd have to polish his Dark Horn again after the battle. Meanwhile, here they were, fighting in an arctic battlefield, where a blizzard could blow up and smother them all without any warning. He shuddered at the thought, and reached into his shirt pocket for a small bottle, unscrewing it and tipping out two tablets, which he swallowed with a heavy sigh, before screwing the cap back on and replacing the bottle in his pocket.

"Matthew Galloway, Class E, of Team Vagrant, piloting Placebo the Convenient Therapy Treatment, equipping CP-03 Beam Gatling Unit and CP-12 Attack Booster Unit"

kitsune106 - January 20, 2006 02:13 PM (GMT)
The Gustav of Team Silverhammer arrived. Mark and ATta then headed to the battlefield, nervous and yet ready for what lay ahead.

"Mark, be careful this time. We will need to work together, and most liekly wiht the other teams if we want to take down teh DRacoinis.
"This is Atta of Team Silverhammer, Class D. Shield Liger with HBC mod."
"Mark Zwei, Team Silverhammer. Class E. Zaber Tiger, no mods.

A Gustav arrived on the scene with a solitary Shield liger on its platform as Dorian sat in the cockpit as he let out a loud yawn...

"This might get ugly...I'm about the only solitary pilot here, oh well, I guess that just means I'm going to have to work 5x as hard!" he said with a smirk "But, this is my first battle in a while, so I just hope this doesn't turn out as badly as my first ever zoid battle. How about you Fang?" he said as he patted the control panel of the Shield Liger and opened a communication line.

"This is Dorian Jacobs, Rank D, Team Cerberus, Piloting My Shield Liger with the XP-02 modification and I'm ready to rumble anytime!" he laughed as he disembarked from the platform and joined the other pilots.

((Sol, Brickdog's RPZ-12, not RZ-042. RZ-042's Command Wolf AC))

Team Pointy Darkness' Gustav rolled out with their three Zoids on the trailers. Chris stared in awe at the beautiful scenary while the pilots were checking their Zoids. First to step off of it's trailer was Sil's dark purple Redhorn. The pilot's voice gave away her excitement.

"Silberner Falkestern of Team Pointy Darkness, piloting a CP-03 equipped Redhorn. Class D pilot, Tier C team," she said before she turned back to see her sister's Hound Soldier step carefully off of the next trailer. "Hey, do you think we could make snow angels and stuff later?"

"No Sil, we're not here to play in the snow," Siren said as she smacked her forehead in annoyance. "Siren Falkestern, Pointy Darkness, piloting a SS-04 equipped Hound Soldier. Class E pilot, Tier C team."

Hughes' Heldi skittered off of its trailer and came up besides the larger Redhorn. It's black armor stood out against the white snow.

"Hughes Rivera, Pointy Darkness, Heldigunner with HKT-010. Class E pilot and Tier C team," he said as his Heldi clawed the snow underfoot.

Nighteyes - January 20, 2006 07:28 PM (GMT)
The Reaper's Bounty Gustav floundered to a halt in the snow, obviously having been pushed far faster than it was ever intended to go. Had someone been listening closely enough, they probably would have heard Tamar expressing her extreme displeasure with Liam's on-time record.

Fortunately, it seemed that everyone else had more important things on their minds... As should the Reaper's Bounty pilots.

"Liam Alexander, Class D pilot of Tier D Reaper's Bounty, in King Liger. No modifications."

"Tamar Alexander, Class D pilot of Tier D Reaper's Bounty, in Storch. No modifications and a HUSBAND WHO'S LATE FOR EVERYTHING!"

"Jan Yaylor, Class D pilot of Tier D Reaper's Bounty, in DiBison. No modifications."

((Shaddup, Chris. This post takes place after Eiji's.))

The Judge Capsule rocketed down, landing with a resounding crash on the glacial ice. It deployed, showing a standard-model Judgeman emblazoned with the serial numbers 1945.
The year the first atomic weapon was used.
"This is the Tournament battle December Stardust Cup. All participants have been verified." It raised its paddles. "Begin!"
As the paddles came down, the Draconis came online and brought all four railcannons to bear on one target.
The boom rattled ribcages and cracked the ice.
Ash's Hound blew apart with a silent scream.
"Oh, Hell no." Jenny brought her zoid to full combat capacity. "Hank. Cover me." Her Liger charged, shield up, with Hank's shield plates plowing the way in front of her. Kyne fell in line behind her, and the two Ligers galloped bravely to the fore.
"All Ligers, fall in line! We're gonna dogpile this sonuvagun!" Kyne belted out the order. Dawnstar had practiced this maneuver several times, so it just came naturally to him.
"Gunbunnies," Hank growled, "fire your indirect weapons at the Drac's turrets. Its main firepower lies in those guns, as you've just seen."
A split second later, the two Ontos cannons fired over the Ligers' heads. They impacted on the Drac's armor's surface, the shells blasting furrows in the thick armor.
Neo's Guysack scuttled towards the big bruiser, a tiny David to the monstrous Goliath.

The frigid ice shook beneath it's feet, telltale signs of a battle already begun, but there was no need to hurry. The instincts that governed it's every movement craved only battle and sustanence through combat, it would never be dictated by mere time constraints or 'rules'. Still, as the quaking increased, what might have passed for blood began to simmer within the Godos' metallic frames and it's pace quickened. What patience it posessed was eventually abandoned as the irrepressable urge to fight dominated it's mind; reaching the battle became G1954's soul objective. Well, reaching the battle and laying waste.

It must have been a bizarre sight for the other zoids and their humans: a lone Godos, wandering into the midst of their heated conflict without so much as a hint of hesitation. Let them wonder, he did not care; G1954 was only here for the battle. It's own pilot, or rather, it's passenger, submitted the necessary data that would grant them 'permission' to enter the fray; it was this benefit alone that had allowed G1954 to tolerate human partnership for this long.

"This is Melissa Harding, Class D Freelancer, piloting an unmodded Godos and requesting participation."

kitsune106 - January 20, 2006 08:29 PM (GMT)
"Roger that, Atta following suit."
Atta heard the command and followed suit, raising his shield and
falling in behind Kain. He calculated that his move would help them get
in close if the Draconis decided to concentrate fire on the ligers,
well, help them survive for a while. Atta also calculated that Mark
would not be able to survive that well.
Mark heard the commands, and even though not in a liger decided to
follow suit. He was a bit frightened, but hey, what else was there to
do? He had a zoid more suited ot melee, not close combat. He follwoed
after Atta, attempting to hide his zoid behind Atta's as much as
possible.

Dorian shrugged as his shield liger pcicked up speed to get in the conga line "Alright let's hope this works....cause if it doesn't, I gotta actually come up with a plan, and by god I am NOT even CONSIDERING the catholic priest maneuver..." he said to himself as he engaged his shields and crossed his fingers...

Silberner Falkestern - January 21, 2006 08:01 PM (GMT)
Silberner turned on the Horn's radar and sensor before using the data to aim at the Drac. She fired off the 80mm surface-to-air double-barreled Beam Cannon and the 4-shot Missile Pod, making sure she fired above the Ligers and didn't hit them. She sent the data she had to their allies for the time being. While Sil did she usually did, Siren rushed forward and followed the Ligers in their dogpile, staying a short distance behind them. Hughes skittered a few meters forwards and then started burrowing furiously like the wimpy sniper that he is.

Orpheus - January 22, 2006 05:48 AM (GMT)
As the fight broke out Team Vagrant snapped into action. Blaine cast a broadcast across his team frequency as they prepared the various tactics.

"This is not a team battle, remember that. I want you to help everyone else, and remember, in the end, only one person will be left standing. You will show equal comradery to members of other teams, and you will stab you teammates in the back in order to win. I expect no less in such a battle."

As Blaine said this, he turned Dragunov to face away from the Draconis, slamming down the anchors as his tail straightened and he entered Longshot Mode.

"Alrighty, let's see what we can do," he murmured as he used all the varying sensors and the scope of the Gunsniper to get a clear bead on the Draconis. Blaine drew a bead on one of the railguns using the IR pointer, and then fired as precise a shot as he could into the most vital area of the railcannon, hoping to hell he could disable that cannon successfully.

As Blaine prepared his Zoid to snipe away, John's gunsniper did something very different. It shifted its position enough to get the charging Zoids out of its line of fire, locking the WWU missiles with the RADOME as he did so. The target points were to be the weaker joints in the wings.

Once in position, John decided to lock down his Wild Gun and then let rip with everything he had. All the WWU missiles that were locked fired, and then the next set of missiles, after loading into the boxes, locked again and at the nearest knee of the Draconis. In the meantime, John was whoring his auxiliary generators for all they were worth, targeting that same knee with the 40mm Beam Machineguns, the 80mm Cannon and all the WWU cannons, firing into that leg continuously for the remainder of the round. He smirked. Simple, but effective. Now was the perfect time to push Feuersturm to the limits.

Matthew, seeing John's idea, decided to back him up, locking all 7 missiles on the knee that Johnwas targeting and firing them off once locked. The Horn rumbled to a clear position, and then opened up on the Draconis, spraying down the knee with the dual Beam Gatling Units, firing for around 4 seconds, or whatever was left of the round once in position, whichever came first. The gun mount span and tracked to keep up with the Draconis, the 80mm Beam Cannons joining in the chorus of fire. The entire turn, the composite sensor and All-Weather Radar were running, transmitting all the data to every other Zoid on the field except the Draconis.

Natalie was the last of Team Vagrant, and she decided to act a little independantly. She fired up the boosters, charging towards the opposite knee to the one John and Matthew were targeting. Her UVaser Pulse Laser Rifles and Vulcan Gun blazed away at the ankle as she approached. She knew that if the firepower was anytthing like that of her father's sniper rifle, the Draconis would be hurting. She decided to overburn the boosters, pushing up to 350km/h as she charged in, all the guns firing at the knee. No time was wasted doding, and as she drew close the claws charged with SLC energy. Once in range, Natalie leapt at the knee, attempting to bite and claw at it, the Vulcan gun in the Saix's head still firing as best it could into the knee or the area around it.

A little to the side, Ben looked around in awe at the shows of firepower bursting around him, and began to feel incredibly weak in his Command Wolf. Nevertheless, he charged in behind the Ligers, falling behind due to the inferior speed of the Wolf. However, he rotated his cannons to fire at a wing joint, preferrably the one receiving the most damage from others, and began to fire 50mm beams into the wing as fast as he could. Once within melee range though, he abandoned the gunfire, preparing the claws and charging up the Electron Bite Fangs, and then frenzied the Draconis like a rabid beast as part of the massive dogpile.

((Sol, I'm gonna be away until Friday night... very early Friday morning for you guys, so I expect my Zoids are going to get DQ'd or miss turns while I'm gone, hence going all out. Hope you guys all fight great!))

Nighteyes - January 23, 2006 07:06 PM (GMT)
"Ligers in formation?" Liam muttered to himself, nevertheless bringing the King Liger up to a reasonable pace to keep up with the others. His machinecannons sprayed out at the leg in general, hoping to soften up some of the armor for their attack run, as he maneuvered himself in the formation so that he was near the 'inside', to allow him a nice clear pass with his blades. He stood by on the energy management system, not activating it just yet as they were still quite a distance away. All the while, he scanned over the readouts he was getting from everyone, trying to look for the best spot to plant a Blade Attack when the time came.

---

Jan grinned to himself and dropped all of his cannons down, prepping a Focused Megalo-Max Blast right for the same ankle that all of Team Vagrant seemed to be targeting. Careful not to singe the tails off of the massed Liger formation, he fired when ready, hoping that the recycle time on the Drac's railcannons was as long as the other similar weapons he'd encountered. If not -- well, the chargey-glow would be a pretty good tipoff of Bad Things, and it'd hopefully allow the Ligers to get close and do their stuff.

---

Tamar, on the other hand, was hardly ready to be relegated to a support role. Snow blasted out from under the wings of the Storch as it jumped up into the sky, doing a double roll to snap its wings fully open as it shot over the Drac. She tugged back on the controls, doing what amounted to a three-quarters loop that ended with the Storch plunging with outstretched talons at a barely-safe speed into the back of the monster. As soon as she'd dug her talons in as far as they'd go, Tamar flipped the wing magnessors to 'reverse' so that the Storch basically functioned like an oversized Geno Saurer footlock, weighing the Drac down quite a bit. The Storch's beak tore into whatever it could get at, and focused on tearing up whatever single most vulnerable component it could reach.

Nighteyes - January 23, 2006 07:12 PM (GMT)
EDIT: Jan had his sensory stuff going from the very beginning of the battle, transmitting to all friendly Zoids and also using the combined intel to plot his MMax, in spite of the snow.

Augustus - January 23, 2006 10:55 PM (GMT)
*The Godos heard the call for a dogpile loud and clear; the pilot in his head urged for compliance, but the request was immediately denied. G1954 was no Liger and more importantly, had it's own agenda in mind. To buy itself sometime, the Godos broke into a sprint, sporatically changing it's speed as well as direction to avoid collisions and fire, both hostile and friendly. All the while, the zoid took note on the action occuring around him, what the opponent was doing, what it's team mates were doing, and what areas of this "Draconis" were under the most fire. From a strategic standpoint, THAT would be the best place to strike. As suddenly as it began, the small zoid's travels came to a hault and G1954 added its own compliment of fire to the target zoid, focussing on the most heavily damaged areas with whatever cannons that were capable of pointing in its direction.*

Solaris - January 24, 2006 02:39 PM (GMT)
((Chris, I forgot something about the Drac. It's immune to stunning, not vulnerable. Recall the anti-CPC magnetic field.))

Solaris grinned in the cockpit, flipping the radio to an ancient song.
Oh Fortuna.
He registered one of the railcannons' destruction. Reflex kicked in, and the other railcannon in the pair fired back.
While the boom was somewhat less impressive, the results were no less devastating. The shell plowed right into the Gunny's tail rifle, blowing through and narrowly missing the core as it ripped out the chest. The zoid's hips weakened and snapped, leaving the zoid on the ground. The screen registered a CSF.
"Muy bien." Solaris whispered as he turned to deal with the next onslaught. The Ligers. He let them clamber atop his zoid, doing their worst. The HUD screamed warning as the zoid staggered under their weight, ice cracking.
Suddenly, the Ligers slumped off, their glory in vain. Their combat systems had frozen, leaving their weapons crippled and their zoids momentarily stunned. The Drac positively vibrated with the pressure of maintaining its magnetic field and dropped it as soon as possible.
Kyne and Jenny rapidly went through the reboot procedures. Kyne saw the Drac step up to his zoid, then the force of the shuttle-quality thrusters activating threw the Jaeger and other Ligers a good forty meters. The ice shattered underneath the Drac, leaving a gaping hole as the monster slowly lifted off.
Natalie tried to pounce, tried to leap onto the Drac, but missed by mere inches. Her claws scored on the battered armor, the Saix curled up about the leg for a brief second, dislodging Tamar, but it was for naught. The Saix plummeted down into the gaping hole, vanishing from sight and the battle. Siren followed suit, sans the pounce. She landed atop Natalie's Saix, spearing it rather impressively. Once more, Siren's Hound Soldier made a weapon for the enemy.
"Craters, your nickname is about to become an irony," Solaris said softly.
"Oh, Hell."
At this moment, the missiles impacted on the Draconis. Their blasts cleared away the smoke from the thrusters, immolating the Drac's heavy-duty armor. Great slabs of it fell off, landing in the snow in smoking piles of death. Shedding nearly fifty tons in armor from the combined WWU and Megalo-Max, the Drac hung in the air unsteadily. Knowing his systems were failing, and knowing he went out like this some forty years ago, Solaris aimed his doomed zoid for Hank's Gordos.
Two hundred and forty tons of zoid landed on the Gordos. The Gordos just kinda squished.
"Oh, that's not cool." Kyne grimaced. "Where's a CPG when we need it?"
Solaris laughed. "Kyne, you should know better than to despair. This zoid is failing."
As he spoke, the railcannons turreted to fire again. Though there were only three, they would do nice damage against . . . that Command Wolf.
The Wolf blew apart as ice crackled from the shockwave.

((All Ligers are out for the next turn, at which point they've rebooted. The last two 'Ligers' to post are not stalled out. That's the King Liger and Dorian. Tamar's zoid is also stunned, but she managed to hold off the Drac from shooting its turret twice this round.))

Guardian - January 24, 2006 03:30 PM (GMT)
Dorian Skidded to a stop as he sighed a breath of relief at his good luck so far, but he couldn't help whimpering a little as he almost felt like soiling himself. "Aw hell, this has got to be the best and worst luck I've had yet..." he said as he deactivated his shields and turned to face the Drac. "Oh what the hell, might as well try something because if I don't unload a single shot in this whole battle then I'd really be pathetic..." he said with a determined look on his face to do some damage before he went down for the count as he pushed the controls forward as the Shield Liger ran forward towards the Drac.

He locked onto and unleashed all hell on the Remaining Railgun with his AMD Repeater as he broke out in a suicidal sprint towards the Mammoth Zoid as he fired all the ammo packed into his left missle pod. All his attempts would probably be his last in this battle but he had to do something if he was to even have a chance at surviving until the next round as he Activated his Shields again and rushed forward, possibly to his doom... "I am so screwed, but at least I'm going to fight it out 'till my last!"

Solaris - January 24, 2006 04:44 PM (GMT)
((I was wrong. Neo is a Beta Unit. And there's gonna be a free-for-all after the Drac goes down, 'cause I feel like smashing stuff.))

"Neo! Keep him still long enough for me to get the Heavy Beam Cannon charged." Roy sent a direct transmission to the Beta Unit's onboard transmitter.
"Roger that." Neo brought her zoid back online, then smiled grimly. The Drac was almost on top of her. "Solaris." Neo's Guysack popped up right next to the Draconis, scuttling about to bring its Safecrackers to bear on the enemy zoid. "Your time has come."
She fired all six Safecrackers into the Drac's undamaged knee, sending the explosive spears deep into the structure. Before the human pilot could react, her zoid was already zipping to the side, circling the zoid and firing its pitiful weaponry into key areas on the Drac's joints.
Roy frantically charged up the Cannon Tortoise's weapon systems, diverting power from everything he could spare - even life-support. Shivering from the cold, he brought the targeting reticules onto the Drac's center of mass.

Nighteyes - January 24, 2006 04:50 PM (GMT)
"All units, keep firing at the damaged leg! Don't hold your fire for anything!" Liam gritted his teeth, bringing the King Liger sharply around to face the Draconis. The E-Shield flared into existence as he closed the distance as quickly as he could, trying to stay out of the firing arc of at least one of the railgun turrets. The feline Zoid's claws dug into the ice as it ran, flinging up little glassy slivers as the distance closed -- and as soon as the rangefinder hit a hundred meters, Liam dropped the shield and diverted emergency power into the blades. They flared out a full eight meters, blazing with 'shoot me I'm dangerous!' glow, as Liam brought the King Liger in as close to the damaged leg as possible to cleave it right off -- or near enough. Assuming he was still in operation, he continued around the Zoid, trying to spill as much of its mechanical guts as possible.

---

Tamar cursed under her breath as she rebooted the system on her Storch. 'Hopping mad' would have been a mild way of putting her current feelings. As soon as she had the green light, the Storch blasted skywards again and circled over the battlefield, trying to determine how badly the Drac was doing.

---

"Roger," Jan muttered under his breath, adjusting his sights and opening up with a chain-linked mortar barrage, three barrels per second, discharging their high-explosive mortar love into the Draconis' damaged leg or the surrounding area. He kept his finger on the trigger even as the other Zoids went in for the kill. Somehow, he had the feeling that this one wouldn't be ending with the downfall of the Draconis.

QUOTE (Nighteyes @ Jan 24 2006, 06:50 AM)
"All units, keep firing at the damaged leg! Don't hold your fire for anything!"

*More meaningless human grunts and growls. The Godos had its own agenda in mind and whether the chosen course would converge with these other combatants was no concern of his. After contemplating the Draconis' basic anatomy as well as the various damages it had already sustained, G1954 aimed and ushered continuous Particle Beam fire into the most weakened portion of the zoid, whatever area that would bring about a Command System Freeze as quickly as possible.

Not even remotely satisfied after Draconis' fall, the Godos then turns its attention to it's would-be former allies. Even as Melissa shouts, "What the FUCK?!", cybernetic inhibitors give way to age-old instinct and aggression. In the classic hunting strategy, G1954 opens fire on the most vulnerable surviving opponent first, pummelling the unfortunate zoid's weak spots until it succumbs to CSF, before moving up the ladder to the next weakest prey. The Small Bore Particle Beam Cannons are relentless in their assaults and responses to any melee attempts come in the form of a close enounter with the Smash-up tail to the jaw.*

Silberner Falkestern - January 24, 2006 08:33 PM (GMT)
Sil noticed the Ligers and others go down and took this opportunity to use the rest of her big guns. She aimed her forward facing weapons at the Drac and fired them off in two second bursts. Hughes took this time to be brave and stop hiding. He came out from his hole and went into Longshot Mode, aiming at the Drac's damaged leg and fired off a shot.

Solaris - January 24, 2006 08:50 PM (GMT)
The Draconis felt the sting of a gnat.
No, wait. That was the Godos's assault, and it was a very real threat. Ignoring the Red Horn and DiBison, it turned and marched towards the Godos. The smaller zoid snarled, ready to attack, but the Drac just stared it down. Mortars thundered all around them as the ice cracked threateningly.
The Godos lunged forward, going for the throat. The Draconis ducked under and to the side, snagging a limb as it did so. The Godos roared in pain, only to receive its own backhand to the jaw. Now the Godos was between the Drac and the Red Horn, forcing Sil to hesitate for a moment. With rapid, flailing swings, the Draconis beat the Godos to death with its own fist. Entirely by accident, it clocked the King Liger upside the head with its tail, knocking the pilot unconscious.
"Now, Roy! Now!" Neo screamed as the Godos dropped.
The Heavy Beam Cannon blew a hole in the Drac's chest, exposing and cracking the core. It shuddered, and the ground beneath it gave way. The Draconis vanished from sight with a roar, the Godos tumbling after it.
"And now, the time has come." The Zero Jaeger surged to life. "So, Jenny, I take the ones on the right."
"Gotcha." Jenny nodded smartly. "Wait. Your right or mine?"
The Jaeger charged up its boosters and its Strike Laser Claw. A split second later it was on the DiBison's back, ripping and tearing at the mortar array. Moments later it was booking it towards the Red Horn, narrowly avoiding the explosion from the detonating ammunition. The ice behind it cracked and fell, melting and collapsing with the force and heat of its paws. The Jaeger pounced at near supersonic speeds, performing a midair cartwheel. The claws ripped clean through the Red Horn's spine, taking out the CP-03 unit. The Liger landed lithely with its head facing the Horn as the zoid floundered in the ice.
"Mine."
Jenny was silent for a moment. "Um. Okay." She turned her beam cannons on Dorian's Liger, figuring him to be a squishy target.

Liam hung limply in his harness. Maybe he'd regain consciousness before the end of the battle.

---

Jan growled a little something impolite under his breath. That fething Liger really seemed to get a kick out of destroying his mortars, every time they battled. Fortunately, Jan knew very well that the DiBison hardly lacked other weapons.

Bringing the DiBison up to full speed as best he could, given the tricky terrain, Jan gallumphed directly for the reeling Red Horn, hoping to hit it before its pilot had completely shaken off the effects of the Jaegar's attack. The DiBison's head lowered as it aimed to ram in from the side, Jan using all of his weight and momentum advantage to slam into the Red Horn, hopefully tossing and rending it with those huge Crasher Horns. He was careful to keep an eye on the Horn's backmounted weapons as well as its own melee implements, but with luck the distance would close quickly enough that they wouldn't be fully effective. After the ram, the DiBison fired a ceaseless hail of AZ208mm impact cannon rounds into whatever gaping wounds happened to be nearest. All the while, the rear-mounted guns sprayed behind and around the Bison, hoping to discourage any opportunists.

With a war whoop, Tamar's Storch descended on the Liger Zero, in a near mirror move to the one she had executed before on the Draconis. This time, though, her target was either one of the back-mounted ion boosters. With luck, they'd be mounted with movable brackets to allow pivoting that would also allow them to be torn off, or at least rendered nonfunctional. Regardless of the result, Tamar then pulled up and began spraying whatever Zoid was handiest with with AZ machineguns while doing her darndest to evade enemy fire and maintain at least 100m in altitude. The carrier missile began locking onto the troublesome Liger Zero, and at any point it looked like she was going to buy it, she ditched the missile onto its target. No point in going down with a piece of explosive like THAT unused.

The Red Horn motored itself out of the hole and back onto safer ground as fast as it could. She then turned herself towards the Dibison and fired her flak cannon as she charged forward with her Redhorn's head lowered. When the two collided, the Redhorn pushed its head upwards and fired the acid gun. Hughes turned his sniper rifle to the Shield Liger of Silverhammer. He aimed carefully and then fired off a shot. He then turns his attention to the Storch. Aiming while his tanks refill and reheat, he then fires off a shot at the Storch as soon as they're done.

Dorian sighed a breath of relief as the Draconis fell as he changed his direction to notice the other shield liger from team Dawnstar looking at him with 2 heavy beam cannons, ready to rumble. "It's not nice to stare!" he said as he ran forward towards the liger, disengaging his shield and locked onto the liger as he fired with his AMD repeater and opened his missle pods to send another little present her way.

"Take a sip of this you naughty cat..." he said as he fired 3 missles at the liger as he went back on the defensive offense as he atcivated his shields again and zig-zagged as best he could to keep from being an easy target as he went in to ram Jenny as hard as he could. He had no idea whether his attempts would bear fruit or not, but he wasn't going to sit there and be a sitting duck for anyone.

Tamar dove, latching onto the thruster. She tore it off, but the bracket held long enough to spin the Storch into the ground with a spray of ice slivers and knock the Zero to the ground. Kyne swore under his breath as he picked his zoid up, repositioning the remaining left booster to the back so it wouldn't unbalance the Zero much. Technically, Kyne just earned the first kill of the allies.
Hughes blew Atta's foreleg off, then blew the other off. Atta CSFed without much notice from his opponents. Hughes exulted at having won the second kill, only to feel something tap his zoid's shoulder. He turned to see Neo's red Guysack.
"Hello, Mr Rivera." The Guysack gave a quick one-two punch that decapitated the Heldigunner. "Goodbye, Mr Rivera."
"Smooth operating, Neo." Roy grinned.
Kyne spotted Dorian going for Jenny. "Hey! Hands off my cousin!" His Zero Jaeger gunned it at a far less impresive speed than before, slinking up underneath the zoid's shield. Jenny's beam cannons plowed through the shield, striking the Jaeger's booster mount.
"Oops."
"Jenny!"
"Sorry."
The Zero Jaeger charged up its Strike-Laser Claw again, clawing up the Shield Liger's back as it dragged the lesser zoid to a halt. Dorian dropped his shield and whipped around, the two zoids snarling at each other.
"Let's dance, Dorian."

Two other zoids were dancing, too. The DiBison slammed into the Horn's flank, soliciting a spray of caustic acid to the front end. The Red Horn gored, still spraying acid, darn near clipping off the DiBison's shoulder. The DiBison wheeled about, delivering a powerful kick to the Red Horn's snout. It crumpled the acid gun and the Horn's beak.

Nighteyes - January 24, 2006 10:51 PM (GMT)
Jan rocked the DiBison back on its haunches before exploding upwards from his crouch, looking to climb up onto the Red Horn as much as possible. Pressing the mighty AZ208mm shock cannon into the damage left by previous strikes, he fired nonstop until the Horn was finally out of the running, using his hooves and horns to best advantage to continue dealing the hurt to the Red Horn. After he had finished with the Horn, he turned to the nearest Zoid and once more galumphed for it in a bid to impale and toss it with his crasher horns.

And Liam was still unconscious. Wakey-wakey... >_>

Dorian Smirked as he got ready "Ready when you are Kyne..." he said as he faced the Jaeger and locked onto the ligers legs. He fired at Kyne with his chest mounted shock cannons and whipped out his trusty AMD repeater again as he unleashed hell on the Jaeger. All this was all he could really muster as he was almost out of missles and he felt like trying to get a few rounds into the Liger's legs before charging in to ram him with his shields. "Come on, show me what you got!"

Silberner Falkestern - January 24, 2006 10:56 PM (GMT)
Sil was not happy at all. Aiming her flak cannon at the Dibison, she fired it at the damaged shoulder as she charged for the other Zoid like a raging bull, only not since it's a styracosaurus and not a bull. Raging styracosaurus. Sil then turned sharply, using her nice thick tail as a smashy thing and smashed the other Zoid angrily.

Solaris - January 24, 2006 11:23 PM (GMT)
Dorian shot up the armor on Kyne's legs.
Kyne did one Hell of a lot more than that. As Jenny looked on, Kyne proceeded to deliver a beating the likes of which few pilots have ever suffered. It was a Xaratan on a rampage.
A calm, cooll, collected rampage, but a rampage nonetheless.
Kyne's Liger pressed in, forcing the Shield Liger to step backwards. Kyne started stomping on the Shield's toes while the Shield Liger sprayed fire from the shock cannons, then killed the SLC to give it a good punch in the jaw. This knocked Dorian around in his cockpit, and the second whack certainly didn't help. Whacking him around brought any plans he had of countering to a swift and painful end. The Liger's head rather unhinged now, Kyne's Liger reared up and brought the paw down in a hammer blow to the top of the neck, cracking the canopy and severing the head entirely.
"Next time, boy, you use your AMD lasers against missiles. Not against one of the finest war machines in this part of the galaxy."
"Sheesh, Kyne." Jenny laughed. "Waitaminute. I'm the last one here."
"Hold off 'til that gunbunny fight's over. I don't want to take one on solo."
"Gotcha, boss." Jenny breathed a sigh of relief. She just didn't have reflexes that fast. There was no way she could compete with a pilot of Kyne's caliber.

Those two gunbunnies menaced each other. With a burst of action, they struck. Sil charged, spraying flak and spinning to beat the DiBison with its tail. The DiBison returned the charge, hammering her zoid with Anti-Zoid shells of unusual sizes. They flayed the Horn, and eventually the Horn gave out. Jan lay back for a brief second, savoring the victory.
He didn't see the Cannon Tortoise's Ontos rounds that tore its back half asunder.
"Irony strikes like an evil bitch!" Roy crowed. "Score one for the Nerdsquad!"
"Two, actually." Neo motored towards the Dawnstar zoids, stopping about fifty meters away. "I believe this is the final bout."
"Yes. Yes it is." Kyne's Liger stretched. It was getting tired of this battle. Jenny's Liger stepped up beside it.
"You ready, Kyne?"
"Ready as I'll ever be."
Neo's zoid was a blur as it whipped about, claws skittering on the ice. It moved at total random, impossible for the other zoids to track.
Kyne figured he had about fifty-fifty chances of being obliterated by the mortar. He was wrong. The Ligers broke, running to opposite sides as the Cannon Tortoise's powerful mortar blew a hole in the ice where they used to be.
Neo turned to address Kyne, while Jenny squeezed off shots into the Cannon Tortoise. She rushed up to it, pushed it over, and mauled its internals. Roy had no choice but to call it defeat.
"Fast little bugger!" Kyne gave up trying to pattern the zoid and just whacked out at random. The Guysack was chipping away at his armor, and now had was getting into the structure. The legs registered heavy damage.
Jenny's Liger ran up, stopped about ift meters away, and aimed the beam cannons. "Dodge this."
Neo didn't.

The Judgeman sent the record changes to each of the Teams' transports as the ZBC rapidly evacuated them. The Drac's core was about to engage in a superatomic explosion.

Kyne Xaratan: +2 Wins
Jenny Xaratan: +3 Wins
Siren Falkenstern: +1 Win
Jan Yalvor (Or however it's spelled): +1 Win
Roy: +1 Win, +1 Loss

Melissa: +1 Loss

Everybody has an overhaul, save for Kyne and Jenny, who both have light repairs.

The ice glowed for about a quarter of a mile before the superatomic explosion from the old-model cracked zoid core reached the surface. When it did, it came with a subsonic roar, a massive mushroom cloud, and a shockwave that nearly knocked the Whale Kings out of the sky. It lit up the night for miles around, and they could even see it in Europa.
Solaris, safely evacuated along with everybody else and their zoids, remarked that he'd seen better.

Prizes will be announced in the thread.
