Title: Double Edged Anticipation
The Keeper - September 5, 2005 03:39 AM (GMT)
"Fun, my first Zoid battle is the Royal Cup.. Does any of that sound wrong to you?!" Jeremy yelled into the intercom for the umpteenth time as he maneuvered his ape like zoid through the vast jungle at a cruising speed to match the Gustav's so he could walk beside it. Everything around them was overgrown with trees and shrubbery, and considering most of the wild life had already fled it was a still jungle. It was hard to do sneak attacks here without someone seeing you. But it was that much harder to maneuver around with larger zoids like Kizuna's Red Horn whilst Jeremy's Hammer Rock and Amy's Gator had no real trouble moving around. Thankfully a good portion of the trees were easy to uproot. Hence Kizuna and her Red Horn walking in front of the Gustav, acting like a bulldozer and making a rough path for the Gustav to drive on.
Kizuna sighed, Jeremy had been ranting about how they were all going to die in some big explosion for sometime now. In some way she didn't doubt him. It was still annoying though. She rammed a few more trees down and crushed quite a bit of shrubbery, whilst being careful not to damage her horn or any of it's equipment before the match. Thankfully Jeremy was using the Hammer Rock's arms to push any fallen trees out of the way before they fell anywhere they shouldn't have. Not like falling trees could do any damage to her or her mods (at least with the rate they're going at), but they were just being extra careful.
"Don't worry about it so much, what happens, happens. Not much we can do about it after that." Amy was to the right of the Gustav, weaving through the dense jungle to get the hang of her surroundings. She was a little slowed in her movements, attempting to find openings to run through and if she hit a dead end- she made own opening. Nothing a Multi ton zoid couldn't handle... It was still a pain in the ass to move around in though.
"Look, I'm just saying that we're a little too inexperienced-"
"Jeremy, you agreed to be captain of this team so grow some balls and lead this team to at least one victory!" Dr. Isayama yelled out to the 'boy' as she drove the Gustav. She was supposed to have a great deal of patience, yet he was getting on even her nerves. "I know you're nervous but that's not going to get us anywhere."
"Go Kiseki!" Amy's laughter echoed throughout the intercom. When a Psychologist tells you to grow some balls, sometimes it's best to listen. Kizuna chuckled a little, looking towards her sensory and the data Amy was transmitting to her for anything unusual in their surroundings. “Nothing yet Kizuna, I’ll tell you the second I see something!”

"Well, I recognize that there IFF." Stillwell patched through to the zoids and transport. "This is Captain Stillwell, your regional coordinator. You've just closed within five hundred meters of the nearest Team. If you've any objections to my sending down a Judge Capsule, voice them now."
The Keeper - September 5, 2005 03:56 AM (GMT)
After getting reassurance from the three pilots, Kiseki Isayama quickly answered back to the coordinator. "No objections to that."

Judge Capsule 1984 rocketed down to the ground, landing on the gorge's banks. It deployed, the Judgeman raising his paddles as he announced the battle. "The Imperial Team Midnight Watch versus the Athenian Team Balderdash. All participants will halt as they deliver their data."
Balderdash's data flashed over through the Judge and into the Bounty Gustav.

Jeremy sighed, he was nervous but he wasn't going to go down without a fight. "Here we go.."
- Captain: Jeremy Briggs, Class D, Hammer Rock, CP-24 Flexible Booster Unit.
- Kizuna Hakumei, Class E, Red Horn, CP-03 Beam Gatling Unit
- Amy Briggs, Class D, Gator, HT-01 Plasma lance Emitters
The Keeper - September 5, 2005 11:30 PM (GMT)
((Jeremy is using the Concentrated Beam Cannons, not the missiles. Sorry I forgot to point that out.))

((Why, yes, you do get to go first. And yes, this is a Fascist Judgeman.))
"The battlemode is 0992! The distance is five hundred meter! All area within three kilometer, off-limits! No go here! Leave now! Nothing for you to see! Teams will begin fighting now!"

"Alright we have a few advantages here, let's make it count!" Amy activated the GPS Magnetic Detector, locating all friendly and enemy zoids on the field and sending data to Kizuna and Jeremy as the Gator scampered away from her teammates. "Separate! I repeat, separate! It'll do us no good if we're in one big group. It's just a bigger target for them to shoot down!" Her voice echoed through the intercom as the Gator maneuvered through the vast jungle, using every bit of the zoid's design to her advantage so she could make herself that much of a harder target. She was aiming to get at the left side of the Gordos, running towards the two by running in arc to avoid being directly in front of them.
The Red Horn snorted, in a way mimicking her pilot's annoyance. The all weather radar activated, aiding Amy's data as it was sent to both her teammates. "Amy, front line distraction?"
"Yes please"
"Joyous.." The Red Horn slammed through trees as Kizuna steered the big zoid forward. The AZ60mm linear cannon aided the horn in it's attempt to get closer, shooting in front of the horn to aid in making a forced path. Using the combined data of Amy's radar and her own, Kizuna attempted to lock and fire the four missiles on the CP-03. "Jeremy? You okay out there?"
The Hammer Rock swiftly ran through the jungle, using the Flexible Booster Unit to move through the terrain without the constant need to make his own path. "Yeah I'm fine, I'm just gonna meet them for a little monkey play."
"..."
"What?" Ignoring the snickering coming from Amy's line, Jeremy steered the Hammer Rock towards the two enemies. Using the Data from Kizuna and Amy along with anything obvious- like muzzle flashes, to head towards them. He avoiding running directly towards them, preferring an arc of sorts so he wouldn't be directly in front of them.

The two gunbunnies geared up, pouring sensory data into each other. They had a very, very good idea of what was going on.
The Red Horn charged towards the Hammer Rock. Avoiding the other Horn, it spewed out fire from the Wild Weasel Unit to minimal affect. Though the rounds easily blew through the trees, they did little damage until the round was almost over.
The Gordos, on the other hand, stood still and aimed its very large gun. The shell launched out, the recoil alone rumbling the ground, and arced across the field. There was a brief moment of silence. Basketball fans call it 'hang-time.' The shell hung still in the air for a split second, and then it came hurtling down.
Rocketing down as supersonic speeds, the three-ton shell landed just beside Kizuna's Red Horn. The ground liquified at the epicenter of the blast, then the explosion rippled outward, the shockwave squeezing up ridges of rock before the fire engulfed everything within fifty meters of the epicenter. The rock buckled, launching trees into the air as the massive earthquake rocked this little chunk of the world. What trees remained standing were certain to suffer at the hands of the newly-spawned firestorm.
Seriously. Zoid battling can't be good for that little pyro.
Kizuna's zoid is liquified on the side facing the blast, the other side fractured and literally torn. Kizuna herself is noticing an uncanny silence and that blood is leaking out both her ears and her nose. She's conscious, but her zoid is definitely out. Her screens registered the +1 Loss.
The Gator maintained its footing, but Jeremy's Hammer Rock sucked dirt in the quake. This actually benefited it, preventing the Horn's attack from landing. Unfortunately, though, the enemy Red Horn also maintained its footing, and once the quakes stopped it resumed the charge without missing a beat. This time, though, Jeremy has much less cover.

"KIZUNA!" Amy screamed into the intercom of her zoid as she continued to run towards the Gordos. Unfortunately the only thing she could hear was static. "Dammit.." Gritting her teeth, Amy continued to skitter towards the Gordos' side. Though when she finally got to it, she had the gator keep a distance of about twenty five meters with it's front parallel to the Gordos' side. The Gator then began firing the Plasma Emitters in a stuttered manner that allowed for continous fire, at the Massive Zoid's back leg (preferably the back leg on the side she was on). The 40mm Gatling Gun fired upon that same backleg, in hopes of quickly racking up damage. Throughout that part of the round, Amy made sure to keep herself parallel to the zoid's side and at least twenty five to thirty meters away from it.
Jeremy simply listened to Amy's frantic cries for their comrade in silence as the Hammer Rock went evasive. The Flexible booster unit was being flashed on and off at critical movements and turns as the zoid did it's best to avoid the assault. When there was a clear opening, Jeremy would have the Hammer Rock go in for a punch to the back mounted weaponry with it's claw mounted arm. He needed to destroy the WWU, or at least disable it without taking too much damage..

((I apologize for its brevity, but time is short and uncertain.))
There are few motivators for human performance greater than fear. Not blind fear, but focused, razor-edged fear for your life and the lives of those you care about.
This explains why the Gordos was on fire.
The Gator streamed out fire, focusing it on the Gordos until the whole thing glowed cherry-red. The metal started burning, almost exploding from the intensity of the heat.
That puppy was down.
The Red Horn turned its WWU to Jeremy, only to find the monkey playing B-Ball. A slam-dunk later, and the Horn was goring him on the ground in between stomps.
Rank Adjustment:
+1 Win Amy
+1 Loss Jeremy
(Gordos is down. Horn is not. Continue.)

"Dammit, Dammit all..." Kiseki was far from the battle, but she still knew something was wrong. Jeremy was just annihilated from the battle. Kizuna was... not responding at all. An explosion was the only explanation to what happened, and the Doctor feared for the worst.
So did Amy. Regardless, she kept a close eye on the last remaining opponent via the GPS magnetic detector. Using the detector to locate the Horn and the Gordos as a shield, Amy was sure to keep the large, unmoving 'shield' inbetween her and the Horn for as long as she saw fit.

Those two zoids are about the same speed, which runs into a serious problem.
That Horn went over the Gordos.
Surmounting the obstacle formerly known as an ally with a roar, the zoid was more'n a little fearsome as it bore down upon the li'l enemy.
It was decidedly less fearsome when it got stuck. The Gator skirted about, peppering the WWU with plasma lances, and the rest, as they say, is history.
VICTORY FOR WHATEVER THE HECK MIA'S TEAM IS CALLED!
