Name: Stanley Bishops ("Stan")
Gender: Male
Age: 22
Nationality: Republic
Zoid: Red Horn
AIM: SkysDragon
Personality:
Stanley isn't the type you'd want to run into in a dark alley on the first of April. This guy is one bad prankster and proud of it.
Stanley can be very stubborn on almost any subject, once he has made a decision it takes a lot to make him change his mind, but Thomas has found his main weakness and uses it against him. Stanley doesn't like the bitter taste of defeat, and will do anything to win. It is easy to change his mind if you think about it, just find a way his actions could cost him something valuable and tell him, he'll go and do the exact opposite of what he used to say was the best way.
Stanley likes everything to be interesting and to have a twist to it, except be predictable enough for it not to get anyone hurt. During his time as a child he was a well known prank puller, and still does it now, but not as often as he did. His current target happens to be Kirsten, seeing as she is the newbie on his team. Most of his pranks aren’t actual traditional pranks like phone calls and trip ropes, but its likely that you'll fall for one while your talking with him. Stanley can think up some snazzy comments in the blink of an eye.
Background:
Stanley is the oldest son of the Bishops family, Thomas being quite younger. He is the less bright, trouble maker of the two, commonly targeting his little brother for the pranks he loves to pull. But the fun was lost over time. Stanley's family were awfully rich, his mother was a doctor and father a lawyer. This is what resulted in the boy's "stuck-up" personality; money can do that to a person. When he was young, Stanley was easily bored out of his brain and had to find some sort of entertainment. He turned to being a brat.
He didn't get very far with this occupation though; his greatest prank in these times was probably the old water bucket on the door trick. He got his mother maybe once with it, seeing as his parents weren't at home that often, and the lady who would look after him most of the time got into a habit of opening the door and taking steps back wards first, that way they wouldn't get drenched and would only have to take care of the spill on the tiles or carpets. Later on she even made Stanley clean it up instead, that caused him to lose interest.
But he regained it once he was sent to school. New people meant new targets and victims. Stanley became famous for being the class clown before his first test, which he became famous all over again for failing it horribly. The equation was: Rich parents, which send you to private school because they want you to be very smart+bad test scores=disappointed parents.
After that dilemma, Stanley did concentrate on his studies for a short while for fear of his parents losing trust in him. It was during this time that Stanley gained knowledge of the huge machines rapidly gaining more popularity. He listened in class for a change and actually got something more than 60% in tests. He established a dream.
When in high school, Stanley decided that he wanted to try and be well known in his school, but this time in a less childish way. Stanley thought up snazzy comments quickly and made the class laugh often. Recess and lunch times became a comedy show as he got into a group of friends with the same gift for funny things that he had. That was what he lived for.
This may sound pointless, but actually isn't. Stanley’s farovrite subject at the time was metal work. He excelled in this subject, learning just how to cut through, shape, or destroy different metals. At one point, he even made a model Gun Sniper, with no moving parts though, for an assignment. His parents didn't believe the fact that he got top marks in his class at first. But it was true.
When Stanley was in the twelfth year, he started studying the history of zoids in secrecy during his spare time, plotting which zoids would make a team he'd say was decent. He started losing some grades thanks to his devotion to this, but just made it through the final exam, just. The problem was that, after a nerve-raking graduation, he was sprung. Thomas had been snooping about Stanley's room, trying to find something that could mean revenge for the last prank pulled on him.
When Thomas cornered Stanley and revealed his finding, Stanley was utterly shocked. If his brother told their parents, he could be grounded for life, even adult hood, well, not really, but that would be how he'd put it. But when Thomas said what he was going to do, Stanley received the greatest shock in his life... or second greatest to the Gun Sniper model's grade.
Thomas had said that with Stanley's knowledge of which zoids are the best with each other, and his own basic brains, they could rock the zoid battle world. So that's how it was, they teamed up and worked together for the first time. No more pranks played on Thomas and no more insults chucked at Stanley.
By the time Stanley was twenty-two and ready to be independent, they made their announcement to mother and father. The two didn't approve very much, saying that there was a reason zoids were banned in the first place. But after much persuasion, the Bishops Brothers where out looking for a battle partner, seeing as Thomas was still too young to be a zoids pilot.
After much toil, Stanley and Thomas were about to give-up, but this changed when they literally ran into one of the employees at the bar. After Thomas helped the man up and apologized, receiving a bite from the bird sat on their shoulder, Stanley planned on simply leaving and requesting help from the ZBC's main building in the town, as they were going to in the first place, but the guy, whom they now knew to be named Nicholas, and seemed oddly familiar for some reason, wanted an explanation for their haste. In frustration, Stanley made Thomas explain.
Thomas explained that they were planning on setting-up a team for zoids battles but they didn't have enough people to do so. They were heading to the ZBC to request help on where to find someone willing to do so. Nicholas dropped everything, which was his pay check, and said that he'd heard of zoids battles and that he would love to try and help them out. This time it was Stanley's turn to drop everything, which was nothing, when he remembered where he had seen Nicholas before. They had gone to the same high school, but had only ever ran into each other every now and then.
Once that encounter was over, the Red Rippers team was put into place after ordering their zoids. But before they decided to send any battle challenges, training was the main aspect of it. Stanley and Nicholas had a few jousts, while Thomas, who didn't have a zoid, would watch and study their battle styles. After a few runs, Thomas's comment was: "You both suck at this." he was right. Stanley was always pushing the wrong buttons and accidentally reversing instead of doing the right thing, while Nicholas was experiencing similar problems, except most of the time he got it right, just losing his way when he had to do something more than the basics.
To save money on repairs, they started having daily simulator matches. Over months, Stanley gained confidence in his virtual zoids and started becoming more advanced in executing manoeuvres, but it did take a long time, Nicholas was also getting harder and harder to defeat. They were ready. Finally.
It just so happened that the next day they got their first battle request. Stanley and Nicholas got so overly confident and 'knew' they were going to win, but they also forgot just how much more experience most teams had. They lost within the first fifteen minutes. This really embarrassed the two and they made sure not to underestimate their opponents again, but it didn’t help. After a three match losing streak, training became part of the daily routine for Stanley, usually when Thomas was at school so that his brother wouldn't laugh at him.
During one such session, except it was after school and Nicholas was with them, they gained a new member. It was rush hour for the arcade, meaning there were heaps of people using the simulator there. When it was finally their turn, they did better than they usually did, the new demand suddenly turned to battling Stanley and Nicholas. When they were finished, a whole bunch of teenagers mobbed them and they were forced to verse many combinations of people they didn't even know. Even the staff found entertainment out of watching their grief.
But finally once of them decided to do something about it and the crowed was driven off. Stanley wasn't pleased with how long it took for her to decide to dismiss it. She introduced herself as Kirsten and said something about no one needing to have to go through that kind of thing. Nicholas agreed, Stanley thought he saw a glint in Nick's eye as he said that, and he was about to find out why. Kirsten asked why they were so good at zoid piloting and Nicholas, not knowing what her explanation of 'good' was, burst out with it. It was then that she got that same glint and said that she had been looking for a team for a while now; she asked if they needed another member.
The result was odd. Nicholas said that they did in fact need another member, which they technically did, and might give her a shot to see how good she was, but Stanley noticed his hesitation and said that they were fine and that he wasn't even sure if she could pilot a zoid. Well what he did learn was that she could blimmin' well fight. Obviously his tone somehow angered the girl and caused her to trip him up, and he sprained his ankle in doing so. Stanley was the laughing stock of the whole team.
He spent the next month learning how to use crutches while Nicholas and Thomas gave their new recruit training and hints on how to use her flying zoid. From Thomas’s reports, Stanley gained the idea that Nicholas had been wrong and that he had gained bragging rights about this whole 'new member’ idea. He heard the sound of crashes every now and then, their budget would be on the brink by the time this was over. He even watched Kirsten stack it a few times when he got his ankle back in shape.
But Kirsten did prove useful in the end though, during one battle they were up against a team of two Petras and a Redler. It was quite hard for Stanley and Nicholas to get a lock on them, the way they used each other for a cover caused them to commonly almost hit Kirsten by accident, but Stanley thinks that Nicholas's training must have been good, because she just managed to take out one of them before crashing, but with only two foes left it was much easier to shoot them down, after a lot of bombardment from the things…
Stanley would say that the team has been doing much better now that they have more battlers, and that is mainly because it gives him more people to train against. But the real reason is because they put in the effort to train and gained skill, but that doesn't make them all powerful, Stanley still has a long way to go before he achieves his goal.
Appearance:
It isn't hard to believe that Stanley is Thomas's older brother, they could even be twins if it wasn't for their more obvious differences: Stanley has a more muscular build than his twig of a brother, but would also be a fair bit shorter, around 170cm tall to be more exact, if you consider how tall Thomas could be when he reaches Stanley's age.
Stanley had short, messy, brown hair that seems to stick up towards his fringe and causes him to stand out a bit, this and his not-so-stand out face, slightly tanned skin and blue-green eyes make him an odd character to look at.
You will usually find Stanley in grey cargo pants, not three-quarter length, and a black short-sleeve that isn't baggy or tight with pure white sneakers. But when on team business, such as battles for example, he has the signature jacket covering it up. The jacket is red with a single pocket on the front and two on its sides, the cuffs and other seams are lined with blue over-locking.
My, that is certainly an interesting series of events.
First and foremost is how that second paragraph in the bio is almost entirely fluff.
Next is how you keep referring to these pilots as good. I'm not trying to be mean(er than usual) but you don't strike me as a very good pilot at all. I am, unfortunately, an astoundingly good judge of piloting ability. If you like, you can run through the simulators (something that doesn't quite require approval) against some pilots so you can get a firm idea of where your skill level sits.
And if you think that's an insult, Mia and Chris aren't that good, either. Mia's too hesitant and not nearly aggressive enough, whereas Chris doesn't put enough detail into her posts.
Spell-check is your friend. I don't want to have to go through this and point out all your spelling errors again.
That's called child abuse, hon. Getting beat up by your parents, I mean. That leaves emotional scars on a kid, and would probably have been caught. If the kids at school knew about it and teased him for it, the abusive parents would have been caught.
As for the rest, how often do complete strangers meet each other and go "Hey, let's pool our resoures in a really risky endeavour . . . uh . . . what's your name again?"
Yeah. That's why most of the folks who're on Teams together have known each other for a while. Either that, or they have a manager who pulls pilots from the ZBC's database. Teams come in two flavors - old friends or business associates. Not almost complete strangers who randomly met in an arcade.
How about that? Oh, and about the spelling, I had to use my father's computer, which dosn't have any soft/hardware that supports spell cheak, meaning I had to attempt to use the spell cheak on a different forum website, which obviously proved not worth it.
Unless Nick has some rather interesting problems involving not knowing how the real world works, being way too friendly with people he hadn't seen in some four years, and losing jobs because somebody across the street casually mentioned needing to go pick up milk in the morning, he's not going to drop everything he's doing and go help them out. You'd get a lot more realistic if they didn't just run into him and they met up after Nick was off his shift.
And I don't count three sentences as a full paragraph. Not when every paragraph in the piece is real short like that.
