Title: When the power goes out...
Description: What do you do?

Okay I've had a few problems with power outages lately. Meaning no power, no light, no computer, no nothing. I can't read a book because I don't want to destroy my eyes and the only other thing to do is play a game of Chess with my brother and sister... The only problem with that is one of two things. One is I'm so good that I kick their ass each and every time or Two, they suck so much that even when working together they lose. So yeah, amusement for that only lasts for so long. Any ideas for what I could do when deprived of electronics and it's so dark in the house we're using candle light to conserve flashlight battery?

Shadow puppets, hide and go seek, make up crazy stories around the candlefire, sing songs, pummel siblings, one of those crazy camp games that are really lame, pretend to be Girl Scouts and make fun of them, stuff like that. Imagination=FUN. ^_^ Hope the power outages stop for you 'cause I know they suck. (Sadly a former Californian with power outages experiences galore.)

I don't think my parents want me poisoning my brother and sister... Maybe on Report Card day but yeah. <_<;

Feh. You can read by candlelight. Alls you need is a couple of good candles.
Or you could do the intelligent thing and purchase a gas lamp. Which *gasp* will keep for a few centuries if properly maintained and provide light bright enough for you to read by. You get clever and tricky-like with hyperbolic and parabolic mirrors and you can illuminate a whole room with it.

When we were in blackout/brownout high-season, my sister and her little friends were always playing this game called "Murder in the Dark".
I found entertainment by standing by her bedroom door and listening to what happens. They play it without any candles or anything, meaning anything can happen really, it is quite funny sometimes. eg: She once hit her head on her bed and got KO'd.
