Title: Flight of the Enola Gay

Solaris - August 9, 2005 02:23 PM (GMT)
((Alrighty, folks. Y'all know where to find the data on this battle, so just state your names, ranks, zoids, and mods. You can use up to three characters in this'ne. Once you've stated the stuff, state their actions. The battle will start once we have eighteen pilots. *Goes to add more prizes to the thing.*))

Silberner Falkestern - August 9, 2005 07:56 PM (GMT)
(Silberner Falkestern, Rank D, Redhorn, CP-03)

The Redhorn aims all of its forward facing weaponry at the closest Salamander and fires everything except for the missiles off, firing the CP-03's gatling for two seconds and letting it cool down before firing it again and then letting it cool down and so on.

Silberner Falkestern - August 9, 2005 07:56 PM (GMT)
(Siren Falkestern, Rank E, Hound Soldier, SS-04)

The Hound Soldier leaped forward, running straight at the Salamanders and going 250kmh. Siren keeps out of the Redhorn's way as she flips the lances forward and looking for any chance she has to spear the enemy.

kitsune106 - August 9, 2005 09:50 PM (GMT)
Mark Zwei, Rank E, Saber Fang, no mods.

Mark preapred himself. The opponent was a slamander, an ariel zoid. He would have to be careful. Mark moved his Zaber FAng closer to the grounded enemy Salamander at about 150 kmh, firing his AEZ 20mm Beam Guns, AZ30mm Double-barreled Beam Cannon at the slamander's wings. When he gets into range, the shock cannon and sochkcannon mounted laser machine gun will join in. The weapon's fire will cease if Mark is in danger of hitting his team mate's zoid.

Atta Boy, Rank E, Shield Liger, no mods.

Atta was anixious to try his luck. Having fought in real battles before, it was a bit of a releif to particapate in one of the ZBC's zoid duels where rules limited the threat to the zoids, although as was shown early, accidents could still happen. Atta also headed towards the grounded salamander at 200 kph. AS he approached, the 20,, pop out beam cannons deploy and open fire on the wings of the salamander. The missile pods attempt to gain a lock and fire when ready.

The Keeper - August 9, 2005 10:40 PM (GMT)
Just prior to the start of the battle, Kizuna inputed her data...

TRANSMITTING DATA TO JUDGEBOT...

PILOT: Kizuna Hakumei
RANK: Rank D
ZOID: Registered EZ-04 Red Horn
MODS: CP-03

As soon as the Judgebot signalled the beginning of the battle, the Red Horn's All weather Radar was activated- sending data to all teammates to aid in targeting and accuracy. All the while the 80mm surface to air double barreled beam cannon, the 60mm three barreled linear cannon, and the Gatling gun. The Four missiles locked and fired as well, just to add something for the Salamander to TRY and avoid.

Kizuna knew full well about the stalling the Gatling gun could cause for the Red Horn, so she fired in two second bursts then giving it a three second cool down before repeating the process.

In order to keep the Salamander within firing range, the Red Horn would back up just enough to allow well placed shots on the Salamander's body.

"Good luck to all of you." Kizuna gave off a smile, which was... kind of scary considering all the firepower she was throwing at that dragon.

Kraig Cushard - August 10, 2005 02:24 AM (GMT)
Kraig Cushard Class D Shield Liger no mods.

Mitch Cushard Class D Command Wolf no mods.

At the start of the battle Kraig unleashs his load of weapons in the form of a AMD double-barreled 20mm Beam Cannon fireing out as fast as possible, the target was for the nearest engine of the salamander. In the very begining four missles from each pod dumb fire toward the salamander, before it takes off.

Meanwhile Mitch is busy creating a smoke cloud to hide in with the IR's activeted. The AZ50mm double-barreled Beam Cannon does it's best to aim at the salamander as it takes off. Fireing as many shots as posible.

Wicken - August 10, 2005 03:32 AM (GMT)
Hector grinned in the cockpit of his newly upgraded Gojulas. Sure, there was all that drama and shit to think about.. but inside the head of a complete monster like the Ogre, he simply looked forward to blowing the everloving hell out of something.

"Hector Jacobs, Captain of Team Eidolon. Class E. Piloting a Gojulas, modified with the Ogre System and Ontos."

The Ogre gave a bloodcurdling roar as the battle started, and right off the bat, 8 of the Heavy Missiles got their lock on the closest 'mander, firing the moment they were ready. Turning to keep itself facing the Salamander it went on to fire the Ontos, as well as the 20mm Linear and the 20mm Beam Gun. Where was all this fire headed? Right towards the Bomb Chamber and the 'mander's chest. The Ogre made its way towards the Salamander, but turned as nessescary to keep it in its line of fire, by any means nessescary. Even if it meant flailing its arms around and trying to hit the bugger in the air.

--

"Gregory Clark of Team Eidolon, Class E. Piloting the Geno Saurer with no mods."

Greg smirked half-heartedly. Might as well have fun, he figured. With that, the Geno charged forward towards the closest Salamander, AZ144mms blasting along with the 44mm, aiming towards the wingjoint. The boosters kicked in every so often, aiding in quick little sideleaps and such in an effort to throw off fire. Once the Geno got in close enough, though, the Grappler Claws launched out, hopefully snagging the targetted 'Mander nice and tight as the shocking started. Careful not to shoot his claws, and making sure to allow the boosters time to cool with his little dodgingbits. The idea, of course.. to keep the Salamander grounded, or give himself a free ride. The latter of which would likely be painful, if not amusing.

--

Theresa sat in the cockpit of her Saberlion, pondering for a moment. Hrm. What to do, what to do.. in a melee oriented zoid against a pair of aerials.

"Well, I think there's basically one option.. splendid.

Theresa Wicken of Team Eidolon, Class E. Piloting the Saberlion with my Unit, Gamma-Six."

Right from the start, Theresa was aware there was only one way of causing any damage to the 'manders. So, the little feline zoid took off at a sprint - following after Greg and his Geno, actually, ducking, dodging, leaping, skidding - being the most obnoxious target possible while still covering distance. Praying the claws of Greg's Geno would hit, the Saberlion's blades folded out, and they, along with the teeth, charged up. The Saberlion sprang onto the Salamander - going as far as using Greg's Geno as a step up to assure her pounce hit. From there, the Saberlion grabbed on with its teeth as it jammed its blades into the 'mander, charging up the claws and holding on tight with the front ones, while the rear ones kicked and lashed out with a series of slashing and hacking blows. Of course, avoiding illegal targets.

Lycaon - August 10, 2005 03:26 PM (GMT)
Kent sat idly in the cockpit of the Canon Tortoise, staring the gun way up high and noticing something really odd about this battle.

Well, besides the fact he was up against two aerial zoids in, a canon tortoise....

The sky was a unusual clear blue, or maybe he ignored the clouds, but it's somethign about the sky that he just loved. With the different shades of blue pertaining to his mood each day. Today's sky was a just a normal blue. Being blowen up by more powerful zoids are just what makes it fun every single day.

Kent Pierce, No Team, Piloting A Canon Tortoise w/ Ontos.

KEnt grabbed the controls of the zoid and yanked it forward, OH MY GOD. LOOK EVERYONE THE CANON TORTOISE IS TRYING TO GO FORWARD! Now, that's a inspiring story to tell the kids. Well, once reaching about 25 meters from his starting postion, Any futher would probably waste the whole turn. The tortoise arced all of his guns, except for the Mortar Cannon, and began unloading rounds onto the nearest salamander's chest area with everything he got. He saved the impending doom of the mortar cannon for future uses against perhaps grounded Salamanders. But now, it was all shoot...shoot...and shoot some more.

Silberner Falkestern - August 10, 2005 07:22 PM (GMT)
(Hughes Rivera, Rank D, Heldigunner, no mods)

As soon as the battle starts, Hughes fired the Surface-to-air 72mm Machine Gun at the closest Salamander at in attempt to cause damage the large flying mechanical beast and just doing his best to help.

Solaris - August 10, 2005 08:14 PM (GMT)
“Alright. We go for a hard jump, then I’ll drop a load on the ones that charge in.” The Republican pilot Captain Stillwell, callsign Vertigo, ran down the basic profile to his partner before the mission started. “After that, we use a tactical missile on the Gojulas, Geno, and the two Horns. Hold your bombs for a good target.”
“Roger that, Vertigo.” His wingman and partner, Captain Hartman, callsign Gunny, spoke tersely. Both zoids had the standard Republic paint scheme, though Vertigo’s had invasion stripes on the wings and tail.
The Judgeman gave the order. Battle was joined.
The two Salamanders hesitated for the barest of moments before activating their magnessers and rocketing up into the air, escaping the brunt of the volleys and much of the gatling fire. Kizuna’s Horn fired at Vertigo’s striped Salamander, whilst Silberner, Greg and Hector fired at the unmarked ‘Mander.
“Sucks to be you, ground-pounders!” Vertigo let out a wild war-whoop as he opened his bomb bay doors three seconds into the match.
The zoids on the ground sprayed fire, the gatlings sweeping across the field and actually hitting an ally. Greg’s Geno Saurer took fire from Silberner’s Horn, though it was only momentarily. Kizuna and Hughes maintained fire on Vertigo, their anti-air cannonry peppering its armor with depressingly little effectiveness.
Greg, Theresa, and Siren arrived at the center point just near the end of the match. The ‘Manders were still about a hundred meters off the ground, so Greg decided to try something interesting.
Greg activated all of his thrusters to full burn, bouncing his Saurer up into the air. He lifted and fired the claws just after the peak of his arc, sending them lancing up into the air. By sheer luck he grabbed onto Vertigo’s zoid, dragging it down just as he dropped the bombs. He was pulled down just as they were coming down.
Vertigo recalled a manual stating he was not to eject into territory he had just bombed. Activating his tactical missiles as his Salamander fought the Geno’s weight, Vertigo targeted the Gojulas and fired them both. They streaked out, hitting the large zoid square on just as the Geno, Salamander, and bombs came crashing down. Captain Stillwell’s parachute deployed, assisting the rocket boosters in his chair as he cleared the immediate area. ZBC personnel were dispatched immediately to pick him up in an emergency Gustav.
A column of hot air rose up, throwing Gunny’s zoid into some turbulence. He looked over the side and saw two very, very large explosions. One had some twisted wreckage in the middle of it – the remains of Theresa’s Saberlion and Siren’s Hound Soldier – and one very, very damaged Geno Saurer standing in the midst of a rising firestorm. The other had carved a large chunk out of the Gojulas’s midsection, exposing the core and annihilating the weaponry on the abdomen. He watched in awe for a second, and then the rattling fire from the anti-air weaponry jerked him back to the combat at hand.
He turned his attention towards the Heldigunner, toggling its coordinates with one of his tactical missiles. “Here, lizard, lizard, lizard . . . ”
Mitch felt this odd 'thunk' and wondered why his zoid stopped moving.

Damages and positions:
Sil’s Red Horn – No damage. Position unchanged.
Siren’s Hound Soldier – Command System Freeze. Cockpit’s emergency environmental containment systems are protecting against the firestorm, though.
Zwei’s Saber Tiger – No damage. Pilot was blinded by the firestorm, and is currently dealing with eyeball troubles. He cannot ascertain his location.
Atta – Has been sucked into the firestorm, and is suffering excruciating pain because of it. He has actually lost contact with the ground, carried by a rising tornado of fire. Combat System Freeze.
Kizamu’s Red Horn – No damage. Position unchanged.
Kraig’s Shield Liger – Down four wasted missiles, but otherwise exactly the same as when it started the round.
Mitch’s Command Wolf – Sitting pretty in a cloud of smoke that’s about sixteen meters in diameter. This way nobody can see that Siren's lances plowed right through it, giving it a CSF. And technically, she has this kill.
Hector’s Gojulas the Ogre – Multiple systems down, including locomotion. The core is performing a reboot, and the zoid should recover from its Combat System Freeze in a round or three.
Greg’s Geno Saurer – Boosters overclocked and the zoid’s stuck in the middle of a firestorm. He’s barely noticing, as his cockpit’s containment systems are keeping the air at room temperature. It will be impossible to ascertain the extent of the damage without actually testing them, as diagnostics has burnt out.
Pun totally intended.
Theresa’s Saberlion – Command System Freeze. Cockpit’s emergency environmental containment systems are protecting against the firestorm, and the Gamma Unit is attempting to reroute systems to try reviving the zoid.
Kent’s Cannon Tortoise – Twenty-five meters from starting position, with guns locked and loaded. He did not fire last round, as he couldn’t get a bead on the ‘Manders. They were out of his arc.
Hughes’s Heldigunner – Undamaged and at the starting position.

Rank Adjustment:
Siren Falkestern – +1 Win, +1 Loss
Gregory Clark – +1 Win
Mitch Cushard – +1 Loss

(Reverse order and continue, kiddies. The ‘Mander goes last, as always. Late entrants are allowed, clear up until the turn after I announce the last Salamander's defeat.)

Silberner Falkestern - August 11, 2005 07:37 PM (GMT)
The Heldigunner kept on firing at the remaining Salamander, hoping to cause some damage to this one and be semi-useful.

Solaris - August 11, 2005 09:28 PM (GMT)
((Pilots, you only have twenty-four hours from the time the last player posted to post your action. If you're online, you'd better be posting. It's rude to stall, and this is a much bigger battle than normal.))

Kraig Cushard - August 12, 2005 03:31 AM (GMT)
Kraig continued to fire everything he got while trying to avoid friendly fire. Running to avoid fire as well, he aims the best he can for the engine in the wings.

Solaris - August 12, 2005 04:51 AM (GMT)
((Pilots, we have an order in place. I'm not gonna penalize you for jumping order, but try to avoid doing it just to post one sentence.
The order for this round is as follows:
Hughes, Kent, Theresa, Greg, Hector, Mitch, Kraig, Kizuna, Atta, Zwei, Siren, Sil
Pilots who are incapacitated are listed solely for RPing.))

Lycaon - August 12, 2005 05:03 AM (GMT)
Blah. You know what. I'm going to actually try...

The Tortoise zoid laid silent, and throughout the battlefield only one word could be heard.

Damn.

Kent sat there dumbfounded in his Canon Tortoise as one zoid, took out half of the opposing forces. Just one, and it wasn't even close to Class S standards. Just one. And it just happen to be the other one flew over head.

No Excuses, was all he knew as he grasped the controllers, swirveling the Canon Tortoise and arcing the guns toward the sky like a rainbow and sending the remaining Salamander a power force, which we will just call Debbie.

The liquid cooled repeater like cannon shot right under the zoid, laying a constant stream of fire as literally to act as a constant anti-missle turret. The Canon Tortoise spent the whole turn just emptying bullets into the Salamander, with the repeaters firing low, but high enough to nail the missles so they do no damage.

Kent kept manuevering the slower turtle zoid around, making sure he would be aligned with the Salamander. His actual shots didn't matter, but if he couldn't constantly fire a steam right under the Salamander to protect his teammates. He would be worthless as a meele zoid against a Aerial.

And that's pretty worthless.

Wicken - August 12, 2005 07:10 AM (GMT)
Hector snarrled. "Gonna take more than that, ya bastards!"

He did his best to bring the Ogre back online - opening fire with any remaining weaponry that could tag the other Salamander, rotating its tail as well. Hell, if that 'mander was smart enough to get in melee range, Hector made more than sure to use those claws, teeth, and brute force in response. It was hard to miss the resulting firestorm from Greg's move - he smirked. Yeah, he was proud of his teammate.

"Good, Greg! Now, get your charred ass out of the fire, and see ifya can help out the others."

---

Greg grinned widely, for the first time in a while. You could tell he really hadn't expected that to work - but it did. Oh, it did. That's right! IT WORKED. HAH. Greg was a happy camper. Hell, he even heard Hector compliment him.. which was certainly new. This was good.

Up until the fact hit him.. he was standing in the middle of the firestorm with Theresa CSF'd, and the wreckage of the Hound Soldier, which he figured was CSF'd as well. And he didn't have a clue just how damaged his Geno was.. ah, well. Fuck that. He took out one. His crazy-assed idea worked. Everything else would just be icing on the cake at this point. He reeled in his claws, speaking over the comm.

"Dunno if there's much I can do, Hector. The Hound definatly looks out of the picture.. Theresa too. I'll see what I can do about the other 'mander."

Greg kept trying to get a status report on the Geno, squeezing the AZ144mm's and 44mm's triggers, aimed towards the remaining 'mander in general, trying to rack up damage as best he can - though this time, he was doing his best to keep his Geno's ass out of fire. Seeing as how he wasn't even sure if his weapons were functional at this point, it was all about avoiding everything he could and allowing his zoid a bit of time to recover. And yes, this included getting out of the firestorm and wreckage, and such.

---

Theresa grumbled. CSF'd, as usual.. but this time, she had Gamma Six. So maybe hope wasn't lost just yet.. anyway, the moment the Saberlion had regained some form of life, she moved it out of the fire, and started up dodging.. not much else she could do at this point, yanno? But still, she couldn't help but grin at Greg's move. Yeah, she'd punch him in the stomach after the battle since it kinda took her out too.. but for now, she had to give him credit.

"Ya lucky bastard!"

The Keeper - August 13, 2005 02:29 AM (GMT)
Kizuna muttered a short prayer for all her teammates in the royale (including the downed salamander pilot) as she continued her assault. Making sure that the All Weather Radar was still sending data to her teammates, she had the Red Horn fire the 80mm surface to air, the AZ60mm linear cannon, and finally the beam gatling unit was firing at two second bursts with three second cooldowns.

"This firestorm is doing nothing for my aim..." Kizuna flipped on the composite sensory unit to keep an extra eye on the remaining Salamander. With the zoid still moving about in the air, she had to have the Red Horn pivot and back up at times to keep the zoid within firing range with reasonable accuracy.

kitsune106 - August 13, 2005 03:55 AM (GMT)
Atta twisted from the pain he was suffering. COmbat systems were down, so he was helpless at the moment, not even shields up (assuming shields are part of the combat system), and to make matter worse, he was in the air. Atta struggled to control himself, readying himself to head out of the firestorm and see if anything could be done once his feet were once agian on solid ground.

"Darn. Can't see."
Mark attempted to stop his saber fang and wait until he could once again see. HE dared not try anything else unless he hit others by mistake or worse, ending up taking out his own zoid due to his lack of sight. Once he was once agian able to see, Mark attempted to reloacate the salamanders and if possible, open fire on the wings on any salamander he happened to spot.

Silberner Falkestern - August 13, 2005 04:54 PM (GMT)
Siren sat back and looked out at the burning firestorm. She twitched a little as she noticed her Hound Soldier attached to another Zoid.

"Sil, you better take that Salamander out!!"

---
Sil stopped firing her weapons before she aimed her 80mm surface-to-air double-barreled Beam Cannon at the Salamander. She then fired off all of her missiles too.

Solaris - August 14, 2005 12:31 AM (GMT)
Gunny reached over and killed power to his magnessers, dropping it down to the minimum safe level. His Salamander nose-dived, flying downward at speeds approaching the sound barrier. As the firestorm rose higher, he spiraled down around the column of fire and toggled a Red Horn’s coordinates. Thanks to his speed the locks were taking a while.
That was fine with him.
Despite the turbulence, the competent pilot maintained control over his bomber. His close proximity to the fire masked his position, preventing the gunners on the ground from getting a good shot at him. They sprayed fire into the sky, the tracer rounds disappearing amongst the sparks from the rising fireball.
The fire engulfed Gunny’s zoid for a split second, and then he banked, bringing one of the Red Horns into his targeting reticule. He slowed the ‘Mander down to about three hundred kilometers an hour, coming in at a low strafing run.
Greg’s Geno Saurer raced out of the firestorm, strafing out of the fire with its thrusters on full burn. He brought the Salamander into focus with the one remaining optic left functioning, then squeezed the triggers.
Nothing. His zoid was barely functional, and quite obviously the back-mounted and nose-mounted weaponry had burned off. Gunny’s Salamander didn’t even notice him as the zoid came down on the Red Horn like an avenging angel, spraying fire from its banks of weaponry. The flamethrower roared out, melting the zoid’s back-mounted weaponry. He peeled off just as the grenades went up.
Gunny grinned as his HUD sang him a targeting lock. The Salamander arced up, pulling a Hammerhead to quickly reverse direction and come back for another pass. He toasted the Red Horn’s tail and back for good measure, then banked to bring his zoid in line with the other Red Horn. He flew towards its flank, taking flak from it as he closed in with his flamethrower and firearms blazing, softening the target up. Gunny released one of his missiles. The missile streaked ahead, blasting through the weakened armor.
As Gunny pulled up to avoid crashing into the zoid, passing through the rising fireball, he looked over to notice that the firestorm had stopped, leaving the ruined wreckage of the zoids behind.
He didn’t notice the Shield Liger come screaming down. Atta slammed into the Salamander’s back, damn near crippling the zoid as the kinetic energy blasted the bomb load through the bay doors, detonating them on the very unfortunate Red Horn below. Gunny let out a very large amount of profanity in a very short period of time. He now had a Shield Liger on his back and a Salamander sucking dirt at the end of a forty-meter-long furrow.
Granted, that Red Horn was just plain screwed.

Damages and Positions:
Hughes’s Heldigunner – No change
Kraig’s Shield Liger – Praying for death about eight meters from the starting distance. It’s running around in circles, pilot beating his chest and trying to lick his left ear.
Kent’s Cannon Tortoise – No change
Hector’s Gojulas the Ogre – Two seconds from reboot.
Greg’s Geno Saurer – About fifty meters from Kizuna’s Red Horn. It’s a safe bet he doesn’t have any weapons left.
Theresa’s Saberlion – Yeah. That reboot failed. Sorry, kid.
Kizuna’s Red Horn – Pilot’s having a joygasm over the firebath, but in the meantime ranged weapon systems are toast.
Pun totally intended.
Atta the Shield Liger – Splattered in a mangled wreck on the Salamander’s back. That Combat System Freeze has gone to a full-blown shut-down.
Zwei’s Saber Tiger – No change; pilot recovers from temporary blindness next round.
Sil’s Red Horn – If Atta’s in bad shape, just try not to think about how Sil’s doing. Her Red Horn’s pretty much gone from the neck back.

Rank Adjustments:
Atta: +1 Win, +1 Loss
Silberner Falkestern: +1 Loss
Theresa Wicken: +1 Loss

((No new entrants now. I know I should call it good . . . but I wanna see more ‘splody. So it’s showtime, kiddies. Make with the ‘splodin’ or else.))

The Keeper - August 14, 2005 02:39 AM (GMT)
... Kizuna was shaking... By no means was this fear. In fact, it was elaborate pleasure! Every intricate detail was known to her, she was aware of it all. It was only for a few seconds, but it felt like forever to her. Soon enough, the flames died out but Kizuna could still see the dancing flames before her. She didn't even realize that she was giggling- no CACKLING in absolute glee. Looking towards the Saber Tiger the currently frenzied Kizuna trampled towards it at 130 KPH. She wanted to stab it, trample it, acidify it and watch the internals spark a blaze! Her laughter was echoing within the cockpit, she stopped transmitting data to her 'teammates' long before she charged forward.

By no means, did she want this fire to extinguish. But what little of her humanity that was left at this moment, kept reminding her not to do damage to the Saber's pilot... Killjoy.

Wicken - August 14, 2005 05:06 AM (GMT)
Hector grinned wickedly as the Ogre's systems started to come back online.

"Damn.. When they call this puppy a monster, they're not kidding."

Once the zoid was back online, he turned his attention back to the battlefield. Both 'manders were down now, and it was all about survival - or just blowing the shit out of whoever was left before you kicked the bucket. He sighed a bit as Theresa really was out for the count.. but Greg had held on. He kept on grinning, speaking over the private comm to his teammate.. but really, there was nothing to say.

"Tsk.. not gonna let that thing run away from ya in one piece, are you?"

Back to the battle, though. It appeared it was down to him and Greg, two damaged Horns, and an undamaged Cannon Tortoise, Shield Liger, Heldigunner, and Saber Tiger. Seeing as how one of the Horns seemed to be running for the Tiger, and the other Horn seemed near-dead, that just left the Tortoise, Liger, and Heldigunner.

Ho, hum.

Seeing as how he wasn't sure just how much of the Ogre was working.. Hector simply directed the monster to whichever of the three that was closest, opening fire with any and all functional weaponry - stuff on the tail as well to discourage any attackers there. Teeth, claws, tail, stomping.. the works. Hector was gonna make someone hurt. Hurt lots. Granted, careful not to hit or step on anything illegal, and all the while, doing his best to keep the Ogre from getting too beaten up in the process.

----

Greg grinned as he watched the other 'mander go down. But he stopped grinning when he realized all forms of ranged weaponry he had.. were basically incinerated. And the claws too. He swore briefly.. there was a Red Horn right in range that would have likely benefitted from some shock-therapy.

"Shut the hell up, Hector, and.. I dunno, stomp somethin'. Leave the Horn to me."

Letting his boosters cool, the Geno gave chase to the frothing Killjoyed Red Horn, getting nice and close to its rear.. but not attacking. Not yet. Instead, he just hung behind, flicking the boosters on briefly to make little sideleaps and use the zoid as a shield for any incoming firepower.

And well, if the Horn wanted to hurt the Tiger, Greg wasn't gonna stop it. Once the time was right, though - and Greg took into account a number of things, like how much damage he was sustaining, how long it was taking the Horn to get to the Tiger, if it would even make the ram in time - and that Geno did a full-fledged booster-jump onto the Horn's bare back, throwing all its weight down onto it and hoping to break its spine, dig in with its pointy foottalons, and basically perform a tapdance on the bugger until it CSFd.

Once the Horn was done for, Greg and the Geno moved onto the next target they could find - whoever was closest, not Hector, and currently not being attacked by Hector. The Geno snarrled and went ballistic, tailsmacking, booster-kicking, bringing teeth into the game - Whoever was on the recieving end was gonna hurt.

Kraig Cushard - August 14, 2005 05:48 AM (GMT)
Once Kraig got his act together he turned the Shield toward the rest of the party and surveyed what he was up against while running toward them.

"Mitch are you alright in there?"

Guns ablaze as the missles gain a lock on Hector. All forward faceing weapons shoot toward Hector as he nears. Once the lock is obtained the remaining missles in the left pod pour out toward it. Once the missles fly out the weapons are stopped and the shield is activated. The rest of the round Kraig works to avoid fire while getting behind Kizuna in the red horn.

----

Mitch sat in the cockpit of his command wolf trying anything to get it started up again.

"Yea Dad I'm fine, but the wolf took quite a beating."

Mitch just wanted to get it away from the action as to avoid even more fire. Trying almost anything, to get it started.

Lycaon - August 14, 2005 06:57 AM (GMT)
Kent sat the cockpit dumbfounded by all the glory of this battle. Just like the glory of war.....

But while his mind was awe strucked, his heart knew what he had to do. The Cannon Tortoise, without even questioning anything that happened in those few seconds, moved instantly to open fire on the Heldigunner. What happens? The small unsuspecting zoid is met with the full force of the poor man's TSRC

The turtle zoid pilot tried to finish the Heldigunner with it's firepower as quickly as it could....just as the mortar cannon aimed a little high, reaching for the sky. With the finished off Heldigunner the Cannon Tortoise quickly turned to let the arching cannon reach a shot, aiming for the Geno Saurer/Red Horn couple. Within seconds, a high pitched noise erupted across the battlefield, as a shooting star fell...

Feeling New Everytime...
A Rainbow Arched Across The Sky...

And without a stopping for a second, Kent had already turned the zoid onto the Shield Liger with the Ontos reloaded and ready. With everything he could manage, the zoid started unleashing the firepower that could destory basically mostly anything(except Salamanders) onto the Shield Liger.

kitsune106 - August 14, 2005 04:41 PM (GMT)
Mark blinked, finally getting his sight back. Mark took in the sight of all the carnage, including a wreck of a shield liger on top of a salamander. Mark looked around for other threats to himself and noticed the incoming Red Horn, and put aside thoughts of Atta aside to deal with the more immediate threat. Mark started spurred the Saber FAng forward, firing the beam cannons, the laser machine gun, and the should mounted beam guns at the incoming Red horn. Once within range, the 3 bartreled shock cannon comes into play. Once 50 meters have been pasted, Mark attempts pass by the red horn, turn around and pounce onto the rear of the Red horn and proceed with melee combat.

The Ogre geared back to life, systems flickering back to life. Diagnostics came on, returning the bad news. Motor systems were down forty percent and the missile boxes reported as missing. Stress indicators blinked red on all portions of the zoid. The Cannon Tortoise was the nearest target, so Hector lumbered towards it while the smaller zoid unleashed its arsenal on the enemy.
Kent brought his targeting reticule onto the Heldigunner, his Ontos’s sextet of shells blasting through the flank and sending the lizard rolling. Hughes’s HUD reported a full command system freeze. He was out.
Kizuna, cackling like a maniac, charged past the Geno Saurer and towards the Saber Tiger. Greg spun his zoid around, charging after it in hot pursuit. The Saurer was flagging, though. It had suffered extensive damage and had spent a lot of energy. He couldn’t keep up with the Red Horn, much less booster-jump onto its back.
The Gojulas is lumbering towards the Tortoise when its impact sensors register several direct hits with missiles. Somebody had the gall to shoot at it. Hector hesitated a moment, considering going after it, but decided to stay the course. The Shield Liger was an uncertain target, whereas the trigger-happy Tortoise was very certainly going to get caught.
Mark’s Saber Tiger paused a moment before the pilot realized the Red Horn was charging him. He opened fire on it as he charged towards the larger zoid, then executed a sideslip maneuver to avoid getting hit.
While Kizuna turned around to hose the Tiger’s back end, Mark suddenly discovered what had been trailing the Horn. A big ol’ Geno Saurer and a Shield Liger. The Geno Saurer flicked its boosters on, performing a two-staged jump. He bounced up, a talon landing on the Tiger’s back, then activated the boosters again to try making the Red Horn.
They didn’t hear the whistling. Kent’s shell detonated in the center of that little cluster of zoids, just as the Tiger was trying to regain its balance and the Geno was in midair. The shell flashed momentarily, then exploded with a burst of glowing-hot plasma. It blew a crater in the ground, kicking up dirt and zoid scrap as it ripped everything in the blast radius apart. Kent had just single-handedly taken out three enemy zoids, badly crippling the surviving Shield Liger. He followed up that mortar with another round from the Ontos, finishing it off.
And then Hector stepped on him. The Tortoise held for a split second before crumpling with a small explosion. “HECTOR SMASH!”
