An interesting example of corporate piracy, the CP-09 is a design that has its roots in the Republic’s Leomaster DCS-J upgrade. Developed shortly after the Leomaster, the booster cannon set is nonetheless superior to the original Republican designs. They mount fixed facing forwards on the dorsal surfaces of the zoids, providing pylons to mount a bit to the side of the Helcat.
The set features a large Imperial-style particle converter in each of the mounts, with a pair of breeches to the front and back of it. The breeches out front connect to the magnetic field tunnelers in the barrel. The breech shunts the plasma forwards at high speeds, as well as a smaller amount shunted backwards out the thruster end to reduce recoil. The heating coils in the barrel serve to keep the plasma exceptionally hot, much like the later Plasma Lance Emitter. This weapon is much larger, however, and not quite so concentrated nor as hot. It still has the similar effect of mushrooming out on the surface, immolating the enemy in plasma. It can fire for up to two seconds on the Helcat and Saicurtis, and eight on the Redler. The Redler, being an aerial, can use air-cooling to shed head very quickly. In both instances it requires a four-second cool-down time.
The breeches towards the rear are continuous-fire pulsejets. They can, naturally, only work while the plasma lance cannons are sealed off. They provide a total of a Mach 0.3 speed boost to the Redler, a 200 km/h speed boost to the Saicurtis while airborne, and a 60 km/h speed boost to the zoids while moving on the ground. Either function quite clearly obliterates the Helcat’s stealth.
