The Bomber Unit is a part designed mainly for the Pteras, though the Command Wolf, Shadow Fox, and Double Sworder can all mount components of it. The Pteras mounts the missile racks on the topsides of the laser rifles, which mount on the tops of the wings, with the ability to rotate 360 degrees. It also mounts the rocket bomb launchers on its shins. The Wolf mounts the rocket bomb launchers on front of its shoulders, fixed facing forwards. The Double Sworder mounts the missile launchers on its carapace, fixed facing forwards. The Fox mounts the missile racks horizontally rather than vertically, facing the same direction as the weapon mounted there.
The Anti-Air Missile racks each have a trio of high-speed missiles designed to pursue fast-moving targets. They are less useful against ground-based threats, but can be dumb-fired to hit them much like a bullet can. They feature concentrated blasts, though they are much smaller and weaker than missiles designed to go after ground targets. On the Fox and Sworder the racks have only the three missiles they are equipped with, but the Pteras can reload them with the three missiles in each of the beam rifles. On the Pteras, the missiles slide up and into position, ready to fire. The missiles rely upon thermal tracking. The pilot simply brings his targeting reticule over the target, and then the missiles track them by heat signatures. They aren’t very sensitive, and have a hard time reacting against cooler targets that don’t have hot engines burning.
The Self-Guided Rocket Bomb Launchers are very similar to those of the Iron Kong, though they have fewer rocket bombs. The launchers each have four rockets, with an armored panel covering them. They fire and disperse amongst the nearest enemy targets, grouping up if there are fewer than four targets in the area. The launchers’ fire control systems do not interact, resulting in likely bombardments from both of the units on larger targets. The units assign priority based upon size, going after the biggest enemy zoids before the smaller ones. They feature nice-sized warheads with blast radii of about ten feet, making them good for bombing runs.
