The Attack Booster Unit has two components -- matching pods that attach to the zoid. While the Republic originally designed it for the Blade Liger, the ZBC has altered the mounting equipment to allow the ABU to mount on the Red Horn and Gojulas Giga, as well. They mount on the Blade Liger's flanks just behind the blade pylons, the Red Horn's hips, or the Gojulas Giga's CP-10 mount. They can rotate 180 degrees on the vertical plane, facing either forwards or backwards. They cannot face to the sides. The pods are rather well-armored, though softer than the zoids they mount on.
The pods have a 70mm beam cannon and a high-yield ionic thruster facing the same direction. The thruster is located under a plate, whereas the beam cannon's barrel is on the tip. They share a particle converter and breech, with a valve to shunt the plasma through either the thruster, which has an additional breech and a magnetic field to control the thrust, or through the beam cannon's exciter barrel. They cannot both fire at the same time, thanks to the valve's design.
The beam cannons are capable of firing two shots a second, with roughly average penetration for their aperture. They are rather low-drain, high-efficiency models designed for use on high-performance zoids.
The boosters can burn continuously, allowing for a sharp increase in speed on all three zoids. The Blade Liger has an increase of forty kilometers per hour each and a very sharp decrease in its agility. The Red Horn has an increase of fifty kilometers per hour each with a moderate decrease in agility. Not that it had much to begin with. The Giga Gojulas has an increase of twenty-two kilometers per hour each with little reduction in agility. They can flash one and leave the other inactive for a quick turn, or flip one forwards and the other backwards and burn 'em both for an even quicker turn.
