A very large and very powerful cannon, this Imperial aftermarket modification almost seems like a Republic design. The weapon is mounted on a rather static base, giving it only about forty degrees of incline, though it can rotate all-around on the Geno Saurer’s and Heldigunner’s weapon mounts. The base and gun are constructed of a rather durable alloy, and even have a thin sheet of old-style armor covering the pylons, breech, and muzzle. It is designed to be an accurate and reliable weapon, providing decent firepower with less power drain than equivalent beam weaponry. The weapon fires explosive shells with pointed titanium tips. They exit the barrel at high speeds thanks to an advanced breech design, flying at half again the speed of a normal bullet. The shells are designed to penetrate into armor and then explode, delivering heavy damage to structure. Zoids with thicker armor suffer surprisingly less damage, making this a fine weapon against lightweights. It fires at a rate of one shell per second.
All this is fine and dandy, but it’s the targeting computer that really makes the CP-07 something spiffy. Utilizing a pair of infrared rangefinders mounted on top of the weapon, the targeting computer assists by relaying to the pilot the predicted actions of the enemy zoid. This makes leading a shot infinitely easier, increasing accuracy against speedy opponents by up to thirty percent. Naturally, optical stealth camouflage can defeat this, as can infrared masking technology.
