Common sense says that a collection of very large guns has a very large amount of recoil. Common sense enjoys ignoring things like recoilless rifles, which vent gas out the back in order to counter the recoil from expelling the projectile. Common sense loses out to good old-fashioned engin33ring.
Common sense is scared.
The bulk of the CP-13 is the frame it rests on. Incorporating four individual particle converters, two small generators, auxiliary FCS, and some rather durable structure to hold the weaponry, the Wild Weasel Unit without weaponry weighs in at about ten tons. With the four beam cannons and the missile boxes, it approaches eighteen tons. The frame is only about average as far as structural durability goes, and due to the bulk of it the frame cannot be ejected mid-battle. The beam cannons mount on the sides of the frame, while the missile boxes mount below and behind them. The missile boxes are angled upwards and facing backwards, but have sophisticated tracking systems to compensate.
All of the beam cannons have two barrels that alternate connection to the breech. This enables them a repeater-like level of fire, though they have somewhat reduced penetration as compared to standard beam weapons. Much of their thrust is lost to venting gas to kill the recoil. The 180mms are capable of four shots per second each, whereas the 144mms are capable of six shots per second each. The weapons are able to turn five degrees in any given direction in order to train on a single target, but are otherwise unable to move. They drain a great deal of energy from the zoid mounting them, and as such alpha-striking for more than a couple of seconds is exceedingly unwise.
The missiles and the rectennae are closely interlinked. The rectennae provides the zoid that mounts the WWU a constantly-updated 3D automap of the surrounding terrain, as well as real-time readouts of the speed, make, and bearing of all zoids within two kilometers of the zoid. It has noise counters and some ability to counter stealth, but a stealth shield will still defeat it. The rectennae is capable of tracking up to thirty-two targets, sending computer guidance to the missiles. The missiles are fairly standard multi-purpose missiles that fly at supersonic speeds and hit with fairly impressive force. Each box has thirty-two missiles in it, to a total of sixty-four. The boxes are lightly armored, though the missiles do not detonate unless actually armed.
It is possible, though not recommended, to mount certain other light weapons on the arms of the Wild Weasel Unit. Leena Toros mounted a pair of CP-03s on her Gunsniper's WWU. Have fun discovering what that does to your zoid. It does disable the Gunny's use of the sniper rifle, even preventing longshot mode due to safeties involved. It just screws with the Gunsniper's balance that much.
