Title: Phoenix Cup
Description: Filtered version >_> still too long.

Alex Carrigan - July 11, 2005 01:48 AM (GMT)
Chronosboy (1:57:24 PM): Now, without further ado...
Chronosboy (1:58:19 PM): diVossi Industries presents: The Phoenix Cup. Sponsored by one of the largest corporations on Zi, this is an exciting battle with an excellent prize.
Chronosboy (1:59:04 PM): *A large hologram of a Geno Saurer is projected onto the skyline.* The prize for best showing is this magnificent Zoid, otherwise unavailable for purchase.
Chronosboy (1:59:42 PM): So before your competition is revealed, please state your name, team, and Zoid for entry into this competition.
Chronosboy (2:00:12 PM): ((Up to six characters can participate in this.))
wraith paws (2:02:27 PM): Gregory Clark of Team Eidolon piloting a stock Shield Liger.
Kiyomizu Kitsune (2:02:31 PM): Kizuna Hakumei, Red Horn, no team o-o
SPSchneppII (2:02:37 PM): Jenny Xaratan, Dawnstar, Shield Liger with the CP-01.
SPSchneppII (2:02:48 PM): Hank "Craters" Fisk, Dawnstar, Gordos with the TW-01 Ontos.
Blackligerx55 (2:02:55 PM): Siren Falkestern, Pointy Darkness, Hound Soldier.
Blackligerx55 (2:03:20 PM): Silberner Falkestern, Pointy Darkness, Redhorn with CP-03
Chronosboy (2:04:20 PM): A large object pulled up, five hundred meters away on the desolate plain. Massive, imposing, an enormous Zoid that towered over everything around it. The dust cleared, revealing...
Chronosboy (2:04:25 PM): ...a Hovercargo.
Chronosboy (2:04:37 PM): Emblazoned with the diVossi logo.
Chronosboy (2:05:34 PM): Of course, it was what stepped out of the Hovercargo that was the competitor for this battle. A hideous mismatch of parts, this particular Zoid was difficult to discern at such a range.
Chronosboy (2:06:34 PM): It was roughly the same size as a Shield Liger, and possessed of the same sort of quadrupedal configuration. However, in place of the Liger's tail, a giant, scorpion-like apparatus stretched overhead, filled with spines.
Chronosboy (2:07:33 PM): In place of a lion's face, the strange Zoid had a vaguely human-like face, much like the stone face of a temple god, rigid, unmoving. From the back, a pair of large, batlike wings unfolded and stretched themselves.
Chronosboy (2:07:46 PM): This was a manticore Zoid.
Chronosboy (2:08:08 PM): Over the comms, each pilot heard the following:
Chronosboy (2:08:39 PM): "Greetings, and welcome to the Phoenix Cup. I'm Macaulay diVossi; and it is my honor to battle you today. Good day."
(2:08:43 PM) Kiyomizu Kitsune has left the room.
(2:09:32 PM) Kiyomizu Kitsune has entered the room.
Chronosboy (2:09:51 PM): The Hovercargo retreated into the distance, outside the limits of the battlefield.
Chronosboy (2:10:25 PM): ((The order will be reverse posting order: Silberner, Siren, Craters, Jenny, Kizuna, Gregory, and finally the Big Bad.))
Chronosboy (2:10:41 PM): The judge landed nearby:
Chronosboy (2:10:45 PM): "FIGHT!"
(2:23:42 PM) Aka Falimiede has entered the room.
Blackligerx55 (2:25:35 PM): *Silberner tries to lock her missiles onto the manticore and aims all of her guns on its left wing, firing every she had at it except for the missiles. She tries to keep her guns on it if it starts moving.*
(2:25:37 PM) Kiyomizu Kitsune has left the room.
(2:26:15 PM) Kiyomizu Kitsune has entered the room.
Blackligerx55 (2:32:20 PM): *Siren on the other hand starts running at the manticore, going 280kmh. As she runs, she flips her lances forwards in case she needs them.*
(2:32:46 PM) Xerox m3 has entered the room.
SPSchneppII (2:36:18 PM): "Bang, baybeh!" *With a somewhat cracked laugh, Hank opened fire with all of his guns at the Manticore. He trained the Ontos cannons, 50mm repeaters, and railcannons on the sucker, discharging a single volley
SPSchneppII (2:37:11 PM): from the 106mms and railcannons whilst the 50mms hammered away. He continued firing the guns at the thing while they were in his arc, opening fire on it with the back-mounted weapons if it decided to go 'round back while the Gordos
SPSchneppII (2:39:29 PM): turned to keep it in the repeaters and punylasers' firing arcs. The Gordos pivoted in place to track the little sonuvagun. He hoped to God that it wasn't stupid enough to go 'round back, 'cause he had that tail. And he liked to
SPSchneppII (2:39:50 PM): smash things with that tail. He liked to smash them in the shoulders, preferably, 'cause that really screwed up the limbs. He's just mean like that.*
SPSchneppII (2:43:28 PM): "Craters . . . So help me God, if you shoot me . . . " *Jenny was to run interference. Sorta. She fired the beam cannons at the Manticore's nearest wing, looking to put a hole in it, then dropped them to the sides.
SPSchneppII (2:45:15 PM): She began acquiring a missile lock as the beam cannons dropped to the sides, then fired on the Manticore again once the AMD beam was up and clear of the mane. She held the missiles in reserve, waiting for the Manticore to go
SPSchneppII (2:46:33 PM): airborne before firing them. Jenny remained pretty stationary for this round, though she did turn tail and skedaddle towards Hank if the Manticore went after her.*
Kiyomizu Kitsune (2:47:49 PM): *Kizuna didn't have much of a part in this battle, she was basically just artillary fire. The All weather 3D radar Antenna was up and working throughout the round to increase accuracy, and to help the others regardless of the fact
Kiyomizu Kitsune (2:49:36 PM): that most of them could see anyway, she sent all information to them as well. Now for her true job- artillary backup. Yup, firing the 80mm S-A beam cannons and the AZ60mm linear cannon at the nearest wing of the sucker.
Kiyomizu Kitsune (2:50:29 PM): The missiles also locked on but did NOT fire, keeping them on hold for a while. Other then all that, Kizuna pretty much stayed put other then the occasional pivot to keep the opponent within firing range.*
wraith paws (2:52:00 PM): ~Greg blinks, listening as one of his temporary teammates gave a rather.. disturbed sounding laugh. Crap. These people were more insane than the others during Blue Heat.. But there was a battle to be fought, here. The Liger..
wraith paws (2:55:11 PM): promptly trots over to Silberner's Horn, staying within around 30m or so. The missile pods drop to the side and they all lock onto the Manticore, as the AMDs pop up as well. The Liger crouches, aiming on a few things - protecting..
wraith paws (2:56:30 PM): its legs, making itself a somewhat smaller target, and keeping itself ready to spring after the Big Bad in an effort to protect the Horn, the AMDs rotating as nessescary to tag whatever juicy target they could manage to hit..
wraith paws (2:58:03 PM): along with the obvious missile-defense thang'. The Liger follows the Manticore somewhat but remains close to the Horn, the Shock Cannon coming to play once the Manticore was in range, and the claws and laser sabers more than ready..
wraith paws (2:58:13 PM): when it came to that.~
(3:10:15 PM) SPSchneppII has left the room.
(3:11:08 PM) SPSchneppII has entered the room.
Chronosboy (3:13:54 PM): *"Best of luck to all of you. Macaulay...out?" asked the pilot, smiling slightly. Right off the bat, he flipped on the shield and the Riddler system, hoping to absorb the fire from the -massive- assault coming his way. The
Chronosboy (3:15:34 PM): Octo Multimissiles began getting their lock on the Gordos, whereas the tail and wings flipped backwards to present a low profile to his enemies. He released the multimissiles once their locking sequence finished, then leaped into
Chronosboy (3:17:03 PM): the air, the shield coming down and the wings extending as the Manticore took flight in a long, extended jump over the Ligers and Hound coming his way, soaring over the Gordos and Red Horn artillery, and landing fifty meters
Chronosboy (3:18:42 PM): behind the Gordos with its tail outstretched. En route, the beam cannon cracked off two shots into the Gordos' front right leg, aiming to the side and below the flying Manticore. Step one: get the Gordos out of the picture. The
Chronosboy (3:19:18 PM): tail continued to fire on the Gordos' right legs as the round ended.*
Chronosboy (3:19:27 PM): **Please stand by for the judgment.**
(3:23:15 PM) Kiyomizu Kitsune has left the room.
Chronosboy (3:23:29 PM): The manticore raised the shield in time to block a really, truly MASSIVE assault coming its way. Railguns, beams, all manner of nasty things smashed into the beast's shield, pounding the hell out of it as the Manticore stood there
Chronosboy (3:24:45 PM): getting a lock on the Gordos. Of course, a far more sinister system had come into play: the Riddler jamming suite. The airwaves were instantly flooded with a mass of computer queries directed at each of the enemy Zoids,
Chronosboy (3:25:53 PM): asking name, team, make, model year, last inspection, favorite color, a continuous stream of pointless questions from the manticore that severely impacted the opposing zoids' electronic performance as more and more computing
(3:26:11 PM) Kiyomizu Kitsune has entered the room.
Chronosboy (3:26:56 PM): power to deal with them. Didn't stop the simpler Zoids from doing their job, though. The Red Horns and Gordos pounded the hell out of the circular shield of the manticore, nearly dropping it before the beast released the missiles.
Chronosboy (3:28:14 PM): One advantage of the Manticore's shield was that it was tough, and another was that it didn't block missiles from firing. Downside? It was a flat circle, only covering attacks from the very front. Eight large missiles streaked into
Chronosboy (3:29:25 PM): she sky, each of them splitting into eight smaller independent warheads. Sixty-four micromissiles plummeted towards the Gordos, impacting with the force of thirty-two standard missiles all over the back, flanks, and legs. Hank
Chronosboy (3:30:34 PM): found himself horribly shaken in his cockpit, and came to several seconds later, most of his weaponry offline. The Manticore, after launching the missiles, dropped its shield and the gunfire from the second Red Horn and the two
Chronosboy (3:31:50 PM): Shield Ligers immediately began slamming into its frontal quarter and wings. Why only the second Red Horn? Silberner clamped down so eagerly on the CP-03's trigger, firing the whole round, that her Zoid stalled out, stumbling and
Chronosboy (3:33:04 PM): falling temporarily unconscious. The manticore took flight, its prehensile tail cracking off one -not two, thanks to its slow firing rate- AZ188mm compressed beam shots into the Gordos' leg. Each of them was slightly more powerful
Chronosboy (3:33:59 PM): than one from the Berserk Fury's buster claws, but the downside was that there was only one cannon, and it only fired once a second. Nevertheless, the shot hit true, and severely damaged the unprotected structure on the Gordos' leg.
Chronosboy (3:34:26 PM): One shot later, the round ended. Damages and positions:
Chronosboy (3:37:27 PM): Ligers are 100 meters away from the initial starting position of the Manticore, with the Hound a few dozen meters in front of them. The three heavy-hitters are still in their original positions, with the J-Pop Horn somewhat turned
Chronosboy (3:38:26 PM): towards the Manticore, which is now 50 meters behind the Gordos. The Gordos and Manticore are both on each other's six. The Unspellable Horn has stalled out thanks to Silberner's overzealousness with the CP-03, but it'll recover
Chronosboy (3:39:44 PM): sometime within the round. Hank's shaken around, but still ready to fight, even though the hellish missile barrage smashed much of his dorsal weaponry straight to hell, such as the railguns, the punylasers, and the Panovas.
(3:40:36 PM) Shirakawa Angel has entered the room.
Chronosboy (3:40:37 PM): The dorsal array, already tied up by the Riddler, is almost completely useless now, dropping the Gordos' targeting efficiency back down to normal.
Chronosboy (3:41:44 PM): The Manticore isn't seeing any performance lags yet, but one can definitely see that it's taken some fire all over the front and the wings. The only thing really of note is that the shield is at 30%, should the pilot redeploy it.
Chronosboy (3:41:51 PM): Other than that, order is reversed, please continue.
Chronosboy (3:42:14 PM): ((Any questions, please send 'em my way. I'm positive I missed something.))
(3:43:14 PM) Kiyomizu Kitsune has left the room.
(3:43:43 PM) Xerox m3 has left the room.
wraith paws (3:56:31 PM): "..aw, cripes." ~Greg blinked. What to do, what to do... well.. FIRE ZE MISSILEZ, first of all, obviously ceasing his own AMD fire to avoid shooting them down, since that'd suck. Once the missiles had fired off,..
Chronosboy (3:57:35 PM): ((Hang on.))
wraith paws (3:57:45 PM): ((..warrrgh, fine.))
Chronosboy (3:57:46 PM): ((I made a Big Fucking Glaring Mistake.))
Chronosboy (3:59:15 PM): New damages, new positions: The Manticore took a -fuckton- of fire. The judge, for some stupid reason, neglected to read the initial starting post, which stated that the Zoids are in a -circle- around the Big Bad. Yeah. I fucked up.
Chronosboy (4:00:22 PM): In other words, as the multimissiles are locking, the Manticore gets slammed by all sorts of fire, most notably the CP-03 and the 80mm beam guns from the Red Horns. The shield still holds against the Gordos' massive assault, but
Chronosboy (4:01:40 PM): the thick, strong armor gets torn apart handily in the three seconds the Zoid stays put. The missiles fire and all that, and the Manticore lands behind the Gordos and all that, but it's in much worse shape. Ironically, since it was
Chronosboy (4:04:04 PM): only defending against the Gordos' assault, the shield is better off, looking more like 50% by the time everything's said and done. See, the judge was thinking all the Zoids were in a wall formation, all facing the Big Bad, unlike
Chronosboy (4:05:23 PM): the actual formation, which involved the Zoids in a ring around the Big Bad. Yup. The barrage of firepower tears up even the Manticores advanced poly-weave armor pretty handily, before the zoid glides out of the ring on scorched
Chronosboy (4:08:16 PM): wings. The Manticore's not performing quite as well, as its flanks and limbs all took some pretty significant fire. The Unspellable Horn is still unconscious, and will still recover within the round. The damages are the same except
Chronosboy (4:08:59 PM): for the Manticore, which is somewhat laggy, and it doesn't fly as well. Other than that, now please continue. Everyone, please accept my apologies.
wraith paws (4:09:59 PM): "..aw, cripes." ~Greg blinked. What to do, what to do... well.. FIRE ZE MISSILEZ, first of all, obviously ceasing his own AMD fire to avoid shooting them down, since that'd suck. Once the missiles had fired off,..
wraith paws (4:13:39 PM): the AMD fire resumed. All's well. From the start of the round, though, the Liger was a-charging. Target? The Manticore's rear. The target was the evil tailgun during the Liger's approach, the shock cannon...
wraith paws (4:14:46 PM): firing once the range was good. And then, the Liger simply lunged, throwing itself at the Manticore's flank, latching on with lasery charged teeth and claws.. and then activating the shield, locking itself in place so the..
wraith paws (4:15:48 PM): 'core wouldn't shake him off. AMD fire stopped after the shield went up, but point-blank shock cannon fire did not. Oh, and definatly dodging fire during the initial charge.~
wraith paws (4:18:46 PM): (Being annoyingly persistant, by the way. Lunging until he pulled it off. o_o)
wraith paws (4:19:05 PM): (>_> Scratch the dodging.)
Shirakawa Angel (4:20:13 PM): *Kizuna continued to fire onto the Manticore, firing the 80mm s-a, and the AZ60mm 3-barreled linear cannon. But this time, she changed her target to... the tail of the monster. Of course, she did make sure to avoid firing upon her
Shirakawa Angel (4:21:18 PM): teammates... But what's a few shots between friends? Her priority was the destruction of the tail guns. So destruction it is, Kizuna fired her already locked missiles at the manticore as well as she continued firing from her
Shirakawa Angel (4:22:07 PM): position. Oh and... at the beginning of the round, the All weather 3-D radar thinger was turned off, to reduce the amount of lag she already had. Along with the comm system, turning that off too.*
SPSchneppII (4:24:25 PM): "Dammit! Craters!" *Rather pissy that her teammate was shot up, Jenny turned her Liger towards the Manticore. She came in at full speed, arcing to avoid catching the Gordos with her fire as she hammered at the
SPSchneppII (4:25:35 PM): Manticore's wings with her beam cannons. She fired her missiles, then decided to pull something she'd seen Kyne do in the simulator.
SPSchneppII (4:27:32 PM): Keeping her shield off, Jenny lagged a bit, letting Greg get ahead of her by a dozen meters or so. She fell in line behind him, letting his Liger take the Manticore's fire.
SPSchneppII (4:29:17 PM): At the thirty-meter mark, she drifted to the side, letting him take its rear while she went for the flank. She went for the flank at full speed, slamming into it and activating her shield a moment later.
SPSchneppII (4:30:35 PM): "I feel I should be engaging in some supervillain-esque monologue," Jenny mused as her Liger, now locked in place, clawed at the Manticore's flank with her jaws, claws, and fired the shock cannon into it.*
SPSchneppII (4:31:48 PM): ((Obviously, the Ligers don't run into each other . . . they're not that stupid.))
SPSchneppII (4:31:56 PM): ((I think.))
SPSchneppII (4:34:44 PM): "HANK SMASH!" *Hank was about a hundred and seventy pounds of pure pissed-off psychopath with an itchy trigger finger and a lust for destruction. Ignoring blinking warning lights and other fun stuff,
SPSchneppII (4:36:00 PM): he completed the turn to face the Manticore, charging towards it as he did so. Hank may only weigh about one-seventy, but his Gordos was one of the biggest zoids on Zi. Bellowing in rage, the furious pilot guided the oversized zoid
SPSchneppII (4:38:04 PM): towards the Manticore. The Ligers weren't going to get it. No way. This thing was all Hank's.
SPSchneppII (4:39:52 PM): It would be perfectly understandable if the Manticore ran. After all, the Gordos was only about two hundred tons, depending on layout. Not even slowing down, Hank planted the left foreleg, spinning on it and bringing the tail in to
SPSchneppII (4:41:11 PM): deliver the titanium spikes against the Manticore's body. He targeted the shoulders, coming in from the Manticore's rear end so as to avoid the cockpit. The tail led with its spikes, sweeping the Manticore and tossing it.
SPSchneppII (4:42:01 PM): And then, Hank charged towards the kitty and simply plowed into it.* "JAM THIS!"
Blackligerx55 (4:57:19 PM): *Siren faced the Manticore and raced at it at full speed. It continues running at full speed until the Hound is about 50 meters away. Siren then pulls a California stop to kick out at an arc, slowing down to 280kmh and
Blackligerx55 (5:00:56 PM): circling around. She runs in at an angle towards the Manticore, lunging at it in an attempt to stab the Manticore's shoulder.*
Blackligerx55 (5:11:51 PM): *Silberner just sits in the same spot until the Zoid finally recovers. As soon as it recovers, Sil turns off her All-Weather 3D radar and comm system. She then starts running over towards the other combatants,
Blackligerx55 (5:12:16 PM): firing her 80mm surface-to-air double-barreled Beam Cannon at the Manticore.*
Chronosboy (5:16:21 PM): *Macaulay whirled his Zoid around with the shield up. "Whuh oh." With most of the melee Zoids bearing down on him, he was forced to make an ignominious retreat back into the sky. Activating the vernier
Chronosboy (5:18:11 PM): thrusters and spreading his Zoid's wings, he blasted off the ground like a Geno Breaker before shunting the thrusters backwards and circling back around to get at the Hound Soldier. Like an eagle, the manticore pounces on the
Chronosboy (5:20:47 PM): running Zoid from above, the talons punching in and the wings and vernier thrusters picking the Zoid slightly off the ground. He came around with the Hound in his grasp, aiming it like a giant, pointy missile towards the Red Horn
Chronosboy (5:22:24 PM): sporting the CP-03, aiming to use the Hound as both missile and shield. Throughout the short flight, the beam cannon cracked as many shots as it could into the rear legs of the Hound. He released the Hound at 500kph and took it easy
Chronosboy (5:23:31 PM): on his wings, which were most likely hurting by now, using the vernier thrusters for staying aloft more than the support of the wings. Macaulay ended the round by landing behind the CP-03 Red Horn and whirling around firing the beam
Chronosboy (5:23:43 PM): cannon. Obviously, no core or cockpit shots were taken.*
Chronosboy (5:23:54 PM): **Please stand by for the judgment.**
Chronosboy (5:27:12 PM): The Manticore whirled around, shield up, and found itself the center of attention once more. With four Zoids turning around before stampeding towards him, it goes ahead and gets the hell out of there. Not, however, before a really
Chronosboy (5:28:01 PM): unpleasant hailstorm of missiles comes tearing in and simply wrecks what's left of his shield before slamming into his frontal quarter. While a few hit the Gordos here and there, the vast majority of the thirty-two missiles
Chronosboy (5:29:06 PM): impact all over the Manticore's front. It finds great chunks of its impact-resistant armor blown straight away, and the massive barrage stuns the Zoid in place before Macaulay can get it off the ground. He fl33s handily into the air
Chronosboy (5:31:11 PM): and loops around, the sedentary gunbunnies finding it hard to keep tabs on him. The bruised manticore pounces on the Hound from above, its talons punching through the Zoid's armor as the tail came around to crack shots into the rear
Chronosboy (5:32:37 PM): of the Hound's legs. The Hound comes off the ground just as it's trying to hit the brakes, the Manticore looping around and attempting to toss the Hound into its teammate. For the most part, it works, though not quite as the pilot
Chronosboy (5:34:40 PM): intended. The Hound comes free at 500kph and falls somewhat sideways, impaling the Horn right through the rear legs with its right lance. Sixty tons at that sort of speed, though, has a ton of inertia. The Hound's lance comes free
Chronosboy (5:35:45 PM): and becomes something of a missile, piercing right through the Horn's thick structure as the Hound slams through its CP-03 from above. The Hound hits the ground in a small explosion of metal shrapnel, with only its warped skeleton,
Chronosboy (5:36:47 PM): core, and heavily armored cockpit still largely intact. The Horn finds nearly its entire back removed, its back legs completely disabled and the Zoid itself laying on its side, barely conscious. This whole process gave all the other
Chronosboy (5:37:34 PM): Zoids a chance to shoot up the Manticore, though, and the wings really start losing power about now. The armored thrusters are OK, but the wings won't be able to support the Manticore in flight past the Mach.
Chronosboy (5:38:55 PM): The round ends as the Manticore lands behind the downed carcass of the CP-03 Red Horn, its body scorched and bruised, but the wings especially are hurting.
Chronosboy (5:39:07 PM): Damages and positions:
Chronosboy (5:41:35 PM): George, Craters, and Jen are all in a wolfpack-like clump, within 50 meters of each other. The two Ligers are coming back around to head towards the Manticore, but the gimpy Gordos is lagging behind, despite coming around to charge
Chronosboy (5:42:51 PM): again. They're about 400 or so meters from the Manticore (450 for Craters), and Mia's still hanging out all by her lonesome, playing Kaze Tanaka and lobbing fire from afar. She's on the third corner of an equilateral triangle made
Chronosboy (5:43:38 PM): by the Clump ™, the Manticore, and herself. Of special note is the fact that she's one of the only ones that has a really good shot at the Manticore. The only damaged Zoids on the field, now, are the Gordos, which is in the same
Chronosboy (5:44:29 PM): condition as last round, and the Manticore, whose maneuverability has been dropped quite a bit by the extensive armor and moderate structure damage, now down to that of, say, a Saber Tiger.
Chronosboy (5:44:51 PM): Other than that, order's reversed, please point out any stupid crap I've done now.
Chronosboy (5:44:57 PM): And, of course, continue.
Chronosboy (5:49:08 PM): ((Whupps, order is Hank, Jen, Mia, Greg, then the Big Bad.))
SPSchneppII (5:57:52 PM): *Hank checked out his systems. Yep. He had nothin'. So he just sat back and enjoyed his cigar, keeping a hand on the controls, keeping the tail ready to smash anything that came within reach. The Gordos lumbered forwards, toning
SPSchneppII (5:58:45 PM): down from the full-out gallop to an easy, slow walk that minimized use of the damaged right foreleg.* "If ya can't beat 'im, beat 'is ass in the parking lot."
SPSchneppII (6:03:09 PM): *Jenny, on the other hand, had plenty more where that came from. Stopping for a bare second to squeeze off a pair of shots into the Manticore's main engines before she resumed charging towards it. Keeping one eye on the enemy and
SPSchneppII (6:07:22 PM): another on the recharge gauge, she twitched the Liger's tail to signal for Greg to stop before pausing to fire the beam cannons a second time, making damn sure those goddamned thrusters died. After that, Jenny took off at full speed
SPSchneppII (6:07:41 PM): at the Manticore. See the preceeding move for what she'd do once she got to the thing.*
Shirakawa Angel (6:09:56 PM): *Kizuna suddenly realized that she was in a helluva lot of trouble, so what could she do? Meh, join the party I guess. Kizuna fired her linear cannons and the 80mms at the...
Shirakawa Angel (6:11:57 PM): wings of the monticore, showering it with fire, focusing towards the shoulders. Of course, Kizuna avoided to the best of her ability the cockpit. No way in hell was she killing anyone. She pivoted of course so that her accuracy
Shirakawa Angel (6:12:14 PM): would not drop due to the lack of sight of her opponent... erm... yeah...*
wraith paws (6:13:37 PM): ~Greg clenched his teeth, moving his Liger in line behind Jenny's, watching for the tail-twitch signals and all that jazz. The AMD's fired, aimed appropriately so they wouldn't hit Jenny's Liger, n'such. And well...
wraith paws (6:14:42 PM): following suite (following Jenny with around 60m between them, reaction time, blahblahblah) he proceded to attempt the move he wanted to from last round. Latch on with laseryfangs, shield form around it and lock, maulmaimkill,..
Shirakawa Angel (6:14:44 PM): ((Shit, forgot to add that Kizuna stopped firing when the liger got there, my apologies. I'm rushing))
wraith paws (6:15:08 PM): shock cannons... yeah. "We learn from failure, not success."~
Chronosboy (6:16:20 PM): *Well, things weren't looking good for Macaulay. Rather than take his chances in the air, where he would most assuredly get shot down, diVossi's plan changed to make use of a few more tricks up his sleeve. The scorpion-like tail
Chronosboy (6:18:00 PM): flicked upwards as the Manticore dashed behind the carcass of the downed Red Horn, using it as cover. Cheap? Yep. Manticores weren't up-front melee beasts like his adversaries; they relied on trickery and guile. The tail popped up
Chronosboy (6:19:43 PM): as the face of the Manticore peered around the Horn, its body crouched like a cat. The beam cannon plugged two shots into the lumbering Gordos' damaged leg, as well as letting fly with the ten spike-rockets on its tail, the volley
Chronosboy (6:21:49 PM): aimed for the Gordos' back above the shoulders. Seeing as how the Ligers were coming to meet him no matter what, the Manticore sprang from behind cover, turning the shield on and rushing to meet them.
Chronosboy (6:22:30 PM): He used his vernier boosters to side-check the unshielded Liger hopefully into the other one, before going full bore in an arc behind the (hopefully) downed Gordos.*
Chronosboy (6:22:55 PM): **Please stand by for the judgment.**
Chronosboy (6:24:10 PM): The round can be summarized thus: The Turn Macauly F*cks Up. Yeap. His pessimism gets the better of him as he plays things "safe," going it on the ground rather than taking advantage of his flight capabilities.
Chronosboy (6:25:33 PM): The beam shots catch him in the back, as well as all over the right wing before he can get behind cover. The plan of hiding behind the Red Horn's downed carcass was indeed sound, if a little cheesy, and Macaulay is rewarded with
Chronosboy (6:26:49 PM): a clear shot at the Gordos' damaged leg. The beam cannon smashes into the damaged foreleg's structure, and the volley of spike rockets is about all she wrote for the stubborn Gordos. Another slight tactical error on Macaulay's part,
Chronosboy (6:27:30 PM): using the spike missiles against a Zoid without much in the way of retaliatory armaments, rather than the Ligers or the remaining Horn. Hey, nobody says everyone performs perfectly under pressure.
Chronosboy (6:28:49 PM): The Gordos finds ten spikes impaling its upper back and shoulders, and Hank has about enough time to go "huh?" before all ten explode with the force of a SSM each. The Gordos simply can't take any more,
Chronosboy (6:31:18 PM): and slumps over, unconscious. By now, however, the Ligers are closing in, and Macaulay springs from behind his hiding spot, his shield protecting his...wait. Or not, as he unfortunately discovers. Turns out the generator itself
Chronosboy (6:32:49 PM): blew out, rather than the shield simply dropping. Macaulay goes in for a side-check against the Shield Liger, and discovers that Greg's entire plan was to do the same thing to himself. And both Ligers are firing their shock cannons.
Chronosboy (6:34:30 PM): The Manticore's front left leg blows out and it stumbles, the two side-checks meeting each other as Greg activates his shield, locking the Manticore in place. The inertia spins the two around and both end up dazed on the ground, the
Chronosboy (6:35:24 PM): shield slowly burning into the Manticore's structure. Jenny blew past and came back around for her attack just as the round ended. Damages and positions:
Chronosboy (6:39:40 PM): Manticore and Greg are locked together, each facing opposite directions. It's melee combat time, folks. Jen is coming in from about 50 meters away, shock cannon blazing. Mia, unsurprisingly, is still in the starting location.
Chronosboy (6:41:41 PM): The Manticore's hurting. Its front left leg's blown out, though still attached limply, and its wings are shot to ribbons. Its engines aren't faring well, either, and there's only bare structure -damaged, mind you- left on its
Chronosboy (6:43:25 PM): forelimbs. Ow. All ammunition-based weaponry is gone on the tail and back, and the shield's popped for good. Other than that, the Ligers and Horn have no damage, save for Greg's shield, down to about 90%.
Chronosboy (6:43:31 PM): Order's reversed, please continue, BRB.
(6:49:23 PM) IncarnateOfFear has entered the room.
wraith paws (7:01:09 PM): ~Greg grits his teeth, clamping down with the Liger's teeth, into whatever part of the Manticore they could get a hold of. The Shock cannon remained firing, and the Liger's tail swished around, the beam cannon there trying (prolly..
wraith paws (7:01:55 PM): in vain) to get some shots in as well. But other than that? Greg was simply hanging on for one purpose. Holding the Manticore down for his 'teammates'. There was no way in hell the Liger was letting the Manticore get away.~
Shirakawa Angel (7:04:05 PM): "FWEEEEEEE!~" *Kizuna, after having collected quite an amount of dust at that... one spot immediately threw the Red Horn into a full speed rush. Her aim?
Shirakawa Angel (7:08:17 PM): To crusher horn the fuck out of the Manticore's right leg. But was the artillary left out?
Shirakawa Angel (7:08:19 PM): Of course not!
Shirakawa Angel (7:09:26 PM): Kizuna let the 80mms and the linear cannons fire onto the frontal right leg of the zoid, whilst she locked the head down and went into crusher horn mode.
Shirakawa Angel (7:11:04 PM): As soon as that horn was within 50 meters of the Manticore, the High pressured acid spray cannon immediately fired at the leg, and continued to fire as the horn made contact. But overall, Kizuna just attempted to keep the Manticore
Shirakawa Angel (7:11:09 PM): in place to help her teammates out.*
SPSchneppII (7:16:40 PM): *Jenny raised her shield just barely in time to ram into the Manticore, then dropped her shield to activate her laser sabers while the beam cannons and shock cannons worked the manticore's flank over. She mauled the back of the
SPSchneppII (7:18:38 PM): neck, severing the Zoid Control Conduit. She kept an eye on the Red Horn, watching it get closer and closer. When it was thirty meters away she disengaged and ran around behind it, running up the Horn's back towards its primary
SPSchneppII (7:20:35 PM): armaments, the back-mounted guns. She moved quickly to move into mauling range of their breeches, then activated her shield and sank her claws into the armor to lock her zoid in place whilst the shock cannons and laser sabers
SPSchneppII (7:21:25 PM): eliminated the weapons and their ability to fire.* "Don't forget, it's not over 'til only one of us is still standing."
Chronosboy (7:23:26 PM): *Macaulay knew he was boned. But like hell was he going to let the battle go without making his presence felt just yet. He was locked in place, yes, but his powerful back legs shoved hard against the Shield Liger, cranking the Zoid
Chronosboy (7:25:54 PM): around to meet its ally as well as the fire coming from the Red Horn. The vernier thrusters also joined in, blasting the two Zoids around to better hinder the team's efforts. Of course, he wasn't without his last, final trick:
Chronosboy (7:27:21 PM): ...the napalm spray cannon mounted inside his Manticore's mouth. The manticore's face split down the jawline, revealing a huge, gaping maw full of hideous fangs, which immediately launched a spray of burning napalm all over the
Chronosboy (7:30:28 PM): Liger's back. Searing into the armor and structure alike, the liquid fire cascades all over the rear of the Shield Liger. It wasn't going to do a whole hell of a lot, but it looked cool. Other than cracking off as many shots as he
Chronosboy (7:30:39 PM): could into the Red Horn's weapons, that was the entire round for him.*
Chronosboy (7:30:45 PM): **Please stand by for the judgment.**
Chronosboy (7:38:03 PM): The Manticore can't really turn its head far enough to utilize the napalm cannon properly, but much of the Liger's rear left leg gets bathed in the flame. Unfortunately, at this stage in the game, the Manticore's verniers are losing
Chronosboy (7:42:09 PM): power and simply can't produce enough thrust to torque around the Shield Liger it's attached to. The other Liger comes in, with the impact cannons firing, and it's basically all she wrote for the Manticore. No huge explosions,
Chronosboy (7:47:12 PM): nothing spectacular save a jolt, before the battered Zoid lays still. Then things get interesting. Jen wheels around and goes for the Red Horn, scoring multiple shock cannon hits before she connects, locks the Horn in place and
Chronosboy (7:47:23 PM): begins mauling it just as the round ends. Damages and positions:
Shirakawa Angel (7:49:53 PM): ((brb))
Chronosboy (7:49:55 PM): Red Horn and Greg are about 150 meters apart. Jen's Liger is locked into the Red Horn, on its left side, and is mauling it something awful. The Horn's armor is somewhat torn-up on that side from the shock cannon hits. Other than
Chronosboy (7:50:02 PM): that, order's reversed, please continue.
(7:50:21 PM) Shirakawa Angel has left the room.
(7:58:04 PM) Kiyomizu Kitsune has entered the room.
SPSchneppII (8:01:02 PM): *Jenny dropped her shield for a split second as her Liger dropped down and then pounced onto the Red Horn's back. Trust me. It's possible. If I can jump up and put my knees on the shoulders of a fella who's got a few inches on me, a
SPSchneppII (8:02:49 PM): Liger can easily get on top of something shorter than it is. Especially when the whole point in doing so is to crush the weapons. However, she didn't stay there. Meeting the weapons with her claws, she flowed over the Red Horn,
(8:03:54 PM) Aka Falimiede has left the room.
SPSchneppII (8:04:28 PM): blasting at the weapons with her shock cannons once her forepaws had cleared, and then kicked off with her hindquarters to get a spot of distance before turning around to fire the beam cannons at the Red Horn's flank. Once she shot,
(8:04:37 PM) IncarnateOfFear has left the room.
SPSchneppII (8:05:15 PM): she took off again, circling around the other two enemy zoids with her shield up, sides facing them, and about fifty meters between the groups.*
Kiyomizu Kitsune (8:15:45 PM): *The Red Horn immediately just did a 90 degree pivot, using it's tail to
Kiyomizu Kitsune (8:16:34 PM): smash itself into the Shield Liger's front legs and body. All the while, you know those 360 degree pivotal weapons on it's back?
Kiyomizu Kitsune (8:17:54 PM): Yeah, Kizuna's making full use of those. The 80mm and the linear cannon did their best to blast the fuck out of the opponent, and to the greatest of her abilities to NOT fire upon the cockpit. After that attempted tail smack, Kizuna
Kiyomizu Kitsune (8:18:48 PM): immediately had the Red Horn high tail it out of there, firing upon either of the ligers who approached the horn with all tail mounted guns along with the previously mentioned weapons*
wraith paws (8:20:12 PM): ~Greg exhales, as if he'd been holding his breath during the final moments with the Manticore. Dropping the shield to unlock the CSF'd monster, the AMD's and Shock Cannons came to life...
wraith paws (8:21:25 PM): blasting away at Horn's back/Liger's lower frontal area, whichever was easiest. They were both so close together, and the distance was so close, everything.. so.. friggin'.. close.. didn't matter. Greg was positioning himself..
wraith paws (8:22:14 PM): as Jenny hopped off the Horn - positioning himself right in line behind her as he had earlier in the battle. Except he accelerated, charging right at her. With his Liger's fangs charged and prepped, shock cannon still blasting..
wraith paws (8:23:10 PM): to soften up the armor and structure there, he lunged - much like a real-world lion does when hunting. Teeth and claws latched on, Greg aimed to drag her down - and by going for the rear, avoid the problem of the shield. From..
wraith paws (8:24:20 PM): there, it was all the shock cannon, as the teeth and claws remained firmly embedded in Jenny's Liger, with no intention of letting her up. His tail swished around, beam cannon blasting at whatever was left of the Horn...
wraith paws (8:24:34 PM): but really, his attention was far more focused on the Liger.~
Chronosboy (8:28:23 PM): Well. The judge begins to pack up, but apparently the battle has to keep going >_>; so here goes. The DCS clambers up on the Red Horn, which frankly, doesn't particularly appreciate the attention. It
Chronosboy (8:30:31 PM): thrashes the tail around and manages to catch a hind leg slightly, unbalancing the DCS on top of it. In the process, the 80mm gets unceremoniously crushed, but the linear cannon manages to temporarily avoid the DCS's attention long
Chronosboy (8:32:09 PM): enough to get one blast in before a claw comes by and slams it. The blast catches the Liger right in the side, throwing it off balance slightly. Nevertheless, the DCS jumps down to get a bit of distance...
Chronosboy (8:34:30 PM): ...and the Shield Liger slams into its side, shock cannons a-blazing. The Shield Liger simply wrecks the DCS' side with the claws and shield, mauling the beast's rear left leg something awful. Through it all, the Red Horn
Chronosboy (8:35:21 PM): hightails it away from the two, plinking here and there with its tail-mounted weaponry, receiving the odd scorch from Greg's tail-mounted guns. Other than that, the round ends there. Damages/positions:
Chronosboy (8:36:34 PM): Greg and Jen are locked in combat, with Greg's Liger at a 45-degree angle to Jen's rear. His shock cannon has simply wrecked the DCS' rear left leg, and he's atop her Zoid's rear mauling with the claws. The Red Horn's escaping with
(8:36:49 PM) SPSchneppII has left the room.
Chronosboy (8:37:23 PM): its back to them, about 70 meters from the two of them. It's got some substantial damage all over its back, not to mention missing both its back-mounted guns.
Chronosboy (8:37:35 PM): Other than that, order's reversed, questions this way now, please continue.
wraith paws (8:41:29 PM): ~Greg bites his lip. "Change of plans, Liger." The zoid growls, whips around, and heads towards the Horn, shield up. With a ferocious roar he comes in for the kill.. only to slow down just before contact was made..
wraith paws (8:42:15 PM): the idea being to compensate for the quick turning and that vicious horn and tail he didn't want to get hit with. Once his aim was steady, Greg's Liger came roaring in with a solid ram to the Horn's side, afterwhich the shield..
wraith paws (8:42:56 PM): dropped, and the Liger sunk its charged fangs deep into its hide.. then put up the shield again, locking the Horn there. Not letting the bugger escape. With teeth latching and forcing deep, it was the Shock cannons doing...
wraith paws (8:43:24 PM): most of the work, the Liger pushing and shoving - unwilling to go down at all, with or without a fight.~
Kiyomizu Kitsune (8:46:32 PM): *The horn quickly turned around and face the other opponent, at about 30 meters...
wraith paws (8:46:34 PM): (I basically ran away and ignored him o_o goin' for the Horn n'all.)
Kiyomizu Kitsune (8:47:44 PM): The Horn quickly did a 180 tail smack into the Liger, then ran AWAY from the other zoid while firing the tail mounted weapons*
wraith paws (8:51:23 PM): (Testing, 'net connection's being wonky >_>)
Chronosboy (8:59:18 PM): The Liger whirled around and came in from the Horn's side, firing that impact cannon on all cylinders. The Red Horn begins to attempt a 180 degree tailthwap, but despite its maneuverability, it's not quite quick enough to catch the
Chronosboy (9:03:19 PM): Liger with its tail. It does, however, make things interesting for Greg as he skids to get around to the Horn's side. The Liger, nevertheless, does manage to slam into Mia's side, shock cannon a-blazing,
Chronosboy (9:06:12 PM): and lock down with the shield. At the end of the round, when the dust clears, Greg has indeed managed to finish what Jen started a while ago. The Red Horn falls unconscious with severe internal damage, with only one Zoid standing.
Chronosboy (9:06:21 PM): The battle is over...the battle is over!
Chronosboy (9:06:48 PM): The only pilot left standing is...GREG!
Chronosboy (9:07:26 PM): And thus the battle ended. ENDED, I say.
Chronosboy (9:07:59 PM): And now for the awards.
Chronosboy (9:09:37 PM): I present both Best of Show, as well as Best Sportsman, both to Gregory Clark, due to his exceptional manners, honorable battling, and overall sportsmanship!
Chronosboy (9:10:27 PM): Gregory Clark is the winner of the Geno Saurer, which he may keep, or sell, at his leisure. Should he decide to keep it, the ZBC will be more than happy to purchase his winning Shield Liger.

Chronosboy (9:12:12 PM): ::Macaulay stepped out of his trashed Manticore and reverently approached the Shield Liger. Bruised, battered, and scarred, the Shield Liger still had a patch of smouldering flame on its hip. He bowed graciously to the pilot.::
Chronosboy (9:12:47 PM): "Congratulations, Gregory, you have demonstrated exceptional skill, and are more than worthy of the prize."
wraith paws (9:13:32 PM): Greg slid out of the cockpit, practically panting. Looking at Macaulay, he paused, unsure of proper mannerisms, and simply bowed in return, stammering a bit. "T-thank you, sir."
Chronosboy (9:14:02 PM): Macaulay shook Gregory's hand warmly. "It's quite all right, son."
Chronosboy (9:14:43 PM): The Hovercargo approached, coming to a halt near the Liger. The maw opened to reveal a polished, brushed Geno Saurer, resplendent in its black armor.
Chronosboy (9:15:11 PM): "This, my friend, is your reward. My company will handle all repairs for the Zoids involved in the battle."
Kiyomizu Kitsune (9:15:59 PM): Kizuna simply stepped out of her cockpit, upset that she didn't win this long and hard battle. Regardless she had to give him props, he had the skills. "Congrats kid, you deserve that terror right there."
wraith paws (9:16:44 PM): Returning the handshake, he nodded. Looking down at his battered Liger, his gaze moved towards the Geno Saurer. He shook his head, blinking, simply repeating what he said earlier. "Thanks.."
Chronosboy (9:19:26 PM): diVossi stood with a half-smile on his face. "Well, I've got a company to run," -at this he bowed graciously- "but I'll ship that Saurer to your address." Picking out a business card, diVossi handed it to Greg.
Chronosboy (9:20:26 PM): "Just let me know where I can ship this, friend." At that, he climbed into the Hovercargo. Just like that, the Saurer strode back inside, and the carcass of the Manticore was loaded into the hold.
Chronosboy (9:21:02 PM): The Hovercargo, with a deep, earth-shaking rumble, lifted off, and soon disappeared over the horizon.
