During the Great War that ravaged the planet, an arms race was going on. Zoids began to see true mass-production on both sides of the conflict. The first true "king of battle," the Gojulas, was countered by the Empire's Iron Kong, proving its equal or better in close-range urban combat and long-range tactical strikes alike. No two Zoids ever truly received the glory that these titanic rivals did.

The Republic, ever devoted to bringing bigger and more powerful Zoids to the battlefield, went through more and more revisions of the Gojulas line, such as the Mariner series of underwater battle units, the Gojulas mkII limited and mass-production versions, and a host of others all culminating in one, ultimate Gojulas:

Gojulas the Ogre.

This design didn't make it far off the drawing boards before the war came to an end, but without question it was the most advanced, fastest, and unquestionably fearsome Gojulas ever built.

The Ogre, frankly, was a monster in every sense of the word. Incorporating radical new technology directly into the Zoid's core, the already fearsome Gojulas became self-aware, with a nasty disposition. Gojulas the Ogre existed for one purpose: to serve as an avatar of destruction. The prototype organoid system removes a large chunk of the Gojulas' core in favor of a Borg-like system of nitro reservoirs, capacitor banks and heavy circuitry to bring out the true beast lurking inside the Gojulas.

The diVossi Corporation, never one to back down from a bad idea, has offered the famous Ogre System as an upgrade to the existing Gojulas. The 70mm machineguns are swapped out for a pair of 8-shot heavy missile pods, and the motor units receive a complete overhaul. The Ogre moves at a top speed of 125 kilometers per hour, and is quite a bit more maneuverable. Its brute strength is beefed up something awful, rivaling the Iron Kong. Even though its new equipment weighs in at a hefty 22 tons, the Ogre is leagues above its predecessor physically.

The missile pods contain eight missiles each, able to strike targets out to two kilometers with excellent accuracy. They pack one and a half times the warhead of a standard missile, and feature terrain-avoidance systems and excellent aerodynamics. While they can target aerial Zoids, they move at a maximum speed of Mach Two, and many aerials can outrun them.

Overall, the only noted weakness of the Ogre System is controlling the savage beast the Gojulas becomes in battle. There's no guarantee it will obey its pilot like a normal Zoid if its bloodlust reaches a peak. That said, the Ogre System is a worthwhile -and deadly- upgrade to the existing Gojulas platform. Like all other extensive upgrades, this unit requires an overhaul to equip. It cannot be removed, as it fiddles about with the core.

((I kid you not when I say that, as I read this, I kept seeing Eiji's name in the text. No joke. -- Sol.))
