Title: A Fight for Honor
Description: Pointy Darkness vs Storm Riders

Silberner Falkestern - June 22, 2005 08:53 PM (GMT)
Team Pointy Darkness' Gustav came to a stop in the middle of a big desert with large boulders and sand dunes all over the place. Silberner stuck her tongue out.

"I don't know why we have to fight them. I heard they run away."

Siren kicked her sister hard.

"You're the one who made fun of that little runt that is the captain. You and Hughes are going since you two are technically the best."

Sil just grinned as she and Hughes got out of the Gustav and into their Zoids.

"Hughes, be careful and look for a good place to snipe. All else fails, run at them with those Zan Smashers."

Kesshi - June 22, 2005 09:05 PM (GMT)
The Storm Rider's gustav slows down to a stop.

Ryu looks down at the data and starts laughing.

"What kind of stupid name is Pointy Darkness?"

Vincent looked up slighty annoyed by his team mates lack of Seriousness.

"Stop being an idiot and pay attention. The last thing we need now is to lose to them."

Ryu calms down and stares at the data.
"By the way Vincent.... Do you have some kind of plan?"

Vincent looks up and replies, "Just fire until the CSF, now lets go."

Vincent stands up and heads out of the Gustav and into his Warshark, Ryu follows him out of hte Gustav and heads into his Command Wolf AC.

"We gotta win this..."

Up in high orbit above the planet, the Judge Satellite selected its cruelest, most sadistic Judgeman available.
Discovering that they'd already sent 'im to judge the fight between Team Dawnstar and the Oblivious Knights, the satellite fell back on Judgeman 0042. An older model, it had a nasty habit of doing bad things to the laws of physics.

Speaking of which, one would think that this continual bombardment with judge capsules would eventually cause bad things to happen to Zi, eh?

So anyways, the judge capsule landed, thrusters going at full burn. It sent data on the terrain to each of the Teams' transports.

Team Pointy Darkness was on the red X, Storm Riders on the blue.
The pod hit the ground, opening up to display a somewhat disheveled Judgeman. He immediately began the countdown, displaying a rapid 3-2-1 GO! as he announced the battlemode, distance, and terrain.

Silberner Falkestern - June 23, 2005 12:10 AM (GMT)
As soon as the battle started, Hughes ran to the left until he reached a boulder. This he jumped onto and went into Longshot Mode, ready to take out the enemy. Silberner, of course, started running forward and shooting like any good trigger happy person should.

"Shouldn't you two have a strategy?!"

Silberner blinked for a second.

"What is this strategy thing you speak of, Siren?"

Siren sighed and sat back, looking annoyed.

"Nothing you need to worry about, Sil. Concentrate on shooting."

Silberner grinned happily.

"Okay, Siren!"

Kesshi - June 23, 2005 10:54 AM (GMT)
The Command Wolf AC heads south of its teams current position going 175kmph heading behind the large boulder trying to avoid fire from the Red Horn as it slows down to a stop just to the south of the boulder trying. It aims its AZ250mm Long Range Cannons at the hips of the Snipe Master and fires when it has a clear shot. The Warshark dives to 8 meters below the surface and heads to the north going 150kmph heading behind a boulder. Trying to get out of the Red Horns fire as it locks on to the Snipe Master and rises facing the north so that the missle pod can safely fire above the surface and not hit the boulder. The Warshark fires 4 AZ Missles at the Snipe Master, then it surfaces and travels straight toward the Red Horn going only 90kmph.

Solaris - June 23, 2005 09:14 PM (GMT)
((Hero, it's a Command Wolf with the CP-04 modification. There is no Command Wolf AC available.))

The Judgeman fell out of its capsule, rolling on the ground and screaming something about 'DWOS overload' as the two Teams closed in to par-teh.
The match starts off with the Snipe Master arrowing off towards the nearby Boulder Five, Sil runnin' an' gunnin' as she closed in with the Red Horn alpha-striking its heart out, the Command Wolf firing its masers at the Snipe Master, and the Wardick diving.
The Red Horn blasts the stationary Command Wolf with a full-on two-second burst from the beam vulcan to soften it up a bit, maintaining its barrage from the 80mm AA Cannon and grenade launcher. When the smoke cleared, there was lots of glass, craters, and bits of the Command Wolf sprayed over about thirty square meters.
Granted, this took most of the round. In the meantime, the Command Wolf gave the Snipe Master the microwave oven treatment, spraying it with rapid-fire pulses of amplified and concentrated microwaves. Invisible to the human eye save for some infrared and visible bleed, they chewed away at the Snipe Master's armor, though they failed to penetrate before the Horn nuked it.
That, and the Snipe spent a spot of time behind a boulder.
And now for the Wardick. Diving down deep, it knew where the Snipe was, but couldn't lock on thanks to the fact that missiles are heat-seaking, not tracking via radar signatures. As such, when the fishy surfaced, it had a few more seconds to go before it could fire ze missiles.

Positions and Damage:
Pointy Darkness
Red Horn -- No observed damage. It's closed in by about one hundred meters. The terrain is killer on the Horn's movement, slowing it down tremendously.
Snipe Master -- No structural damage. Its tail faces the general direction of the Storm Riders.

Storm Riders
Command Wolf -- All sorts of nifty things are going wrong with this zoid, but its not totally dead yet. Starting position.
Wardick -- In the dunes, having made about two hundred meters' headway. There's about two hundred meters between it and the Red Horn.

Kesshi - June 23, 2005 09:47 PM (GMT)
The Wardick heads toward the Red Horn speeding up to 100kmph. It aims and fires its beam cannons 4 times at the Red Horn's front knees before burrowing under to a depth of 9 meters. Then it speeds up to 125kmph.

The Command Wolf takes off behind the nearby boulder that it is south of and uses it as cover from the Red Horn's fire, it waits 2 seconds before sprinting off to the large boulder where the Wardick had been earlier, while running it aims and fires the AZ50mm Double Barreled Beam Cannons at the Red Horn while on the move toward the boulder.

Silberner Falkestern - June 23, 2005 09:56 PM (GMT)
Hughes turns his aim to the Command Wolf, right where the CP-04 attaches to the body. He fires at it and then aims again. Silberner, on the other hand, decided to go after the Warshark when it surfaced, running straight at it and firing like a crazy person. When the Warshark went underground again, Silberner went in the direction of the Command Wolf, still firing like a trigger-happy psycho and making sure that she helped Hughes.

Solaris - June 25, 2005 07:42 PM (GMT)
((Ugh. Me cranky that computer lost judgment. Me kill.))
((Oh, and they're not Double Barreled Beam Cannons, Dolt. Beam cannons fire plasma encapsulated in laser -- according to the bios Jules has attempted to engin33r, anyways. You're looking at what we in the business like to refer to as a maser. It's like a laser, only instead of visible light it's microwaves. Less energy, y'see.))

The Warshark picks up speed as it becomes the target of two different zoids, opening fire on the Red Horn's knees as the Red Horn's cannons chew it up. Of course, the little thing's waddling along on the surface, rather than burrowing half-exposed. Thusly, it be bookin' it at only about sixty-five kilometers an hour. A respectable rate, to be sure, but definitely not an evasion-quality one. As the 'Shark is waddling along, it shoots off a coupla volleys from the beam cannons.
The Horn engages in what is generally referred to as a 'massive retaliation'. Fortunately for the 'Shark, it was only on the surface for about two seconds. This was enough for the Red Horn to chew up the 'Shark's front half and teach it why it's a really bad idea to sit and trade fire with someone who's got more guns than you.
The Command Wolf turned and ran, escaping notice until it tried to make cover behind a three-meter-high boulder.
Let's explain how ludicrous this is. A Wolf-shaped zoid over eight meters tall -- thanks to that cannon set on its back -- trying to hide behind a boulder that, at its highest point, is three meters above the surface.
Oh, wait. Now the Command Wolf's back to just being seven point nine meters tall. The Snipe just shot off that cannon set.
And when the Warshark dove, the Red Horn turned its attention back to the Command Wolf.
Let's not look behind that boulder. It could be icky.

Positions and Damage:
Pointy Darkness
Red Horn -- No noticeable decrease in performance. Has passed over the Warshark, and there's about two hundred meters between 'em.
Snipe Master -- No change. Five hundred meters from the Red Horn.

Storm Riders
Warshark -- There's unusual -- but minor -- drag on the bow, an' you're thinkin' that ye might be having a bit o' fun with them there beam cannons. Seeing as how there's no response from the one on the right. You're about three hundred meters away from the Snipe Master, two hundred away from the Horn.
Command Wolf -- Mostly intact, below the knees.
Mostly.

Silberner Falkestern - June 25, 2005 11:27 PM (GMT)
Hughes sighed as he flipped out of Longshot Mode, preparing his Zoid for close range combat. Silberner, noticing the Command Wolf wasn't going to fight back, stopped firing and running. The Redhorn turned to face in the general direction of the Snipe Master and started running again.

Kesshi - June 26, 2005 12:19 AM (GMT)
The Warshark turns around as quickly as possible while rising as it finishes turning it is above ground just enough to fire its missles safely and stops facing the Red Horn. The zoid fires 1 shot as its missles lock on and he fires all 8 of its missles at the Red. While the Command Wolf moves toward the Red Horn slowly going 120kmph. After all the missles have been fired it burrows once again heading toward the Snipe Master going 150kmph

Solaris - June 26, 2005 12:51 AM (GMT)
Demonstrating that famed Cloud stupidity, Ryu tries to move his zoid despite the obvious command system freeze.
But hey, it's served his family well in the past. Grandpa Hero won a Darwin Award, after all.
Malvaldo, on the other hand, surfaced a little bit to fire his missiles at the Horn. He takes precious seconds toggling the lock. Seconds the Horn spends turning around. The missiles arm, their lock achieved . . .
And then the Horn steps on the 'Shark. The missiles explode under the big ol' foot, causing trouble for both of 'em. The 'Shark shuddered under the combined impact and detonation, whereas the Red Horn darn near lost a foot.
The Horn's ponderous bulk slogged through the sand, its rear hoof stomping on the 'Shark again, and the two begin heading towards the Snipe Master's position on the big boulder.

Damages and positions:
Pointy Darkness
Red Horn -- The Red Horn is noticing some serious performance decrease. It just plain doesn't move very fast. At all. Guns work fine, though. Closed in on the Snipe Master by about seventy meters.
Snipe Master -- No change.

Storm Riders
Command Wolf -- 'E's not pinin'! 'E's passed on! This parrot is no more! He has ceased to be! 'E's expired and gone to meet 'is maker! 'E's a stiff! Bereft of life, 'e rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed 'im to the perch 'e'd be pushing up the daisies! 'Is metabolic processes are now 'istory! 'E's off the twig! 'E's kicked the bucket, 'e's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!!
THIS IS AN EX-PARROT!!
Er . . . I mean . . . Ex-Wolf. Yeah. Ex-Command Wolf. British spellings brought to you by some comedy troupe or another.
Warshark -- There's no response from the missile pods or the beam cannons. The multi-environment engines be bloody near dead, too. Diving is ill-advised. Burrowing is similarly-ill-advised. You've pretty much just sat there, kinda stunned, since the Red Horn stomped on you.

Kesshi - June 27, 2005 03:02 PM (GMT)
The Warshark heads toward the Snipe Master as fast as possible, trying to headbutt it.

Silberner Falkestern - June 27, 2005 03:11 PM (GMT)
Silberner grinned as she aimed at the Warshark and fired her guns. Hughes, who noticed that the Warshark was running straight towards him, laughed. The Snipe Master made an odd chuckling sound as well.

"That's just brilliant! Run your Warshark into the nice boulder! It does wonders for headaches and consciousness!"

The Snipe Master started hopping up and down, taunting the Warshark.

Solaris - June 27, 2005 07:39 PM (GMT)
The Red Horn turns around and levels its guns at the Warshark, or the remnants thereof. The Warshark ambled on, not quite reaching the boulder by the time the round ended. In fact, it was still about four hundred meters away from the Snipe Master.

Damage and Positions:
Pointy Darkness
Red Horn -- 30 meters away from the Warshark, the 'Shark having passed it and absorbed the barrage.
Snipe Master -- On ze boulder.

Storm Riders
Warshark -- About four hundred meters from the Snipe Master. Nice shootin', Tex.

Kesshi - June 28, 2005 01:52 AM (GMT)
The Warshark continues on its journey toward the Snipe Master.

Silberner Falkestern - June 30, 2005 01:41 AM (GMT)
The Snipe Master took a leap of faith. It crouched down and then jumped forwards into the air, attempting to land on the Warshark. Silberner, either not caring or thinking Hughes's attempt to land on the Warshark would fail, aimed at the Warshark carefully and fired her guns at it yet again.

Solaris - June 30, 2005 03:38 AM (GMT)
Folks, the Warshark's four hundred meters away from the Snipe Master.
By the round's end, it's gonna be in a stream scattered about three hundred meters from the Snipe Master.
And in the meantime, that mean ol' Red Horn just keeps on shooting. And shooting.
And the Warshark just plain ol' gives up right there. The Judgeman gives three w00ts, and declares the following:

"The battle is over! The winner is . . ." The Judgeman's red paddle flipped down, facing the Pointy Darkness transport. "Team Pointy Darkness!"

As the capsule blasts off once more, the ZBC sends the following rank adjustments to the Teams' transports.

Team Pointy Darkness: + 1 Win
Silberner Falkenstern: +2 Kills
Hughes Rivera: nil

Team Storm Riders: + 1 Loss
Both of 'em: + 1 Loss, each

Once they get the chance, the teams discover the full extent of the damage. The Red Horn will require light repairs. The Snipe Master will require light repairs. The Warshark will require an overhaul. The Command Wolf will require heavy repairs. Each pilot has received two thousand credits to help defray the costs of repairs. Team Pointy Darkness has also moved up a rank and become a Tier C Team. Congratulations.
