Title: Dancing in the Desert
Description: KoO vs. Pointy Darkness

Wizzla - June 8, 2005 02:32 AM (GMT)
The Knight's Hovercargo rolled across one of the larger desert areas on Delpoi, its midnight blue and black paintjob thoroughly dusted. The transport came to a halt near the battlefield that was agreed upon, kicking up a rather large dust storm. Marc sat at the controls milling over readouts on the opposing team, his sister practically laying on his shoulder to see them.

"They call themselves Pointy Darkness?" Sera asked with a cocked eyebrow.

"Good to see you can still read," Marc muttered, focusing on the Zoid data in front of him "Yes, i'm not entirely sure about that one either."

"Where's Nikos?"

"I already told you that I don't know, I hired a mercenary to replace him," he answered in a clearly annoyed tone.

"Right," she started, backing away from her brother "I'm gonna go get my Wolf ready."

"Go for it," he said dismissively "I'm gonna try to contact our new hire." With that he closed the data and opened a comm link to his new teammate's Zoid.

"Ready to go Vincent?" he asked in a decidedly more pleasant voice than a few moments ago.

Vardendell - June 11, 2005 01:49 PM (GMT)
"Hey hey, ready and raring to go boss. This cat's a purring like a house cat. Just let me know the run down on the opposition and let's get underway."

Vincent pulled the Saber Tiger up next to the cockpit of the transport and waved out at the crew he had joined up with. He was finally getting a chance to test his mettle in a team combat. He was itching to put his cat into action.

((Stick to the script. You guys are just reposting your actions in here, not revising. - Sol.))

Silberner Falkestern - June 11, 2005 04:49 PM (GMT)
Team Pointy Darkness rode in their new Gustav with Chris in the controls. The others were talking about their opponents, except for Hughes who was in a corner sobbing.

"Hey, their name is cooler than ours," Sil complained loudly.

Chris stopped the Gustav suddenly and everybody lurched forward.

"We're here. Get out of my Gustav and get into your Zoids before I decide to run you over."

The hatch opened and the pilots clambored out of the back seat into their Zoids, Sil still complaining about how the KoO had a cooler name. All three Zoids jumped off of their trailers and waited. Chris opened a comm link to Silberner and Hughes.

"Shoot my Gustav and I'll make sure your Zoids don't get repaired."

Sil mock saluted and Hughes nodded. Siren hoped that they don't shoot the Gustav.

Wizzla - June 13, 2005 04:53 AM (GMT)
"Good to hear, I'm sending their readouts now," Marc announced and proceeded to do so "I'm closing the comm, seeya on the battlefield." He then opened a comm to his sister.

"Ready to launch Sera?"

"Punch it," she said in an excited tone, even though she'd done this plenty of times. Guess it was rush of some kind. A millisecond after Marc flipped the switch the Hovercargo reacted, the launch rail sending her Command Wolf flying through the air at near top speed. The Wolf landed, about as gracefully as could be expected, a few meters from the transport, leaving a fairly large crater in the sand beneath it. Marc finally left the controls and jogged a floor below him to the secondary Zoid bay, where his Red Horn sat alone. He quickly climbed in the massive dinosaur and brought it online, filling the cockpit with a plethora of colors. Unlike his sister, Marc opted for a less showy entrance. He simply opened the sliding door connected to the bay and trotted outside.

The judge capsule fell from space at a blinding speed, slamming into the ground hard enough to leave a massive crater a moment later. The capsule rose and opened up with a hiss of smoke, revealing the silver judge within.

"The area within a three kilometer radius is now a designated Zoid battlefield, all non-combatants or personnel of Team Knights of Oblivion or Team Pointy Darkness should vacate the area. The terrain is 'desert', the battlemode is zero-nine-eight-two." A countdown appeared on the judge's faceplate, rapidly decreasing from three to zero.

"Combatants ready?" it asked rhetorically "Fight!"

"You two engage them directly, I'll provide cover fire from afar," Marc ordered and made his way to a nearby sand dune that would provide optimal cover without blocking his weaponry. He immediately activated the sensors and transmitted the data to his teammates.

"Keep an eye on that Helcat."

"Roger that," Sera acknowleged as she charged toward the enemy. She performed some evasive manuevers on the way to lessen her chances of getting riddled with bullets. She handled the Wolf with a certain finesse that you didn't see in every pilot. Her eyes were locked on the horizon, ready to light up the first enemy Zoid that appeared on the HUD.

Solaris - June 13, 2005 03:53 PM (GMT)
((This has become an official match. The terrain is a gravel desert, the battlemode is 0992, and the distance is one thousand meters -- one kilometer. I will remind you to not perform any cockpit or core shots. Any and all godmodding will result in your being violated. I will post a judgment after the both of you post; I'd like for you to try alternating, but it's really first-come first-serve. Let's keep this moving quick-like, aye?))

Silberner Falkestern - June 13, 2005 04:00 PM (GMT)
"Hey, the Oblivious Knights changed their names!"

Hughes gave Silberner a glare.

"No, their name has always been the Knights of Oblivion."

"Oh, why don't we split up and try to take them down, okay?"

Hughes and Siren ran off in opposite directions (left and right) while Sil's Darkhorn lumbered forward, firing constantly in a forward direction. Hughes found a nice large sand dune and went into sniper mode, looking for an enemy to hit. Siren turned on her stealth and ran towards the other side of the battlefield, looking for any enemies.

Solaris - June 13, 2005 04:01 PM (GMT)
((Close it in, guys. Nobody's hitting anything. Hughes has a good visual on the enemy in the distance. Everybody can see everybody else. The Command Wolf and Helcat have closed in to five hundred meters' distance. The Dark Horns are about one hundred meters behind 'em. Because I'm evil, Vince's Saber Tiger has spent the last seconds suffering a mechanical failure that will resolve itself once he shows up online.))

Vardendell - June 13, 2005 10:17 PM (GMT)
That's the last time I let some rookie snot nosed wannabe mechanic service my precious kitty. He so did not do his job. Now I've spent the last thirty seconds having to redo my targeting data and adjust my command couch. Geez. He furiously typed in a few commands and readjusted his targeting data down to optimal and slid his seat as far forward as he could. He hadn't noticed until he pulled up next to the hover cargo. He scanned his radar and sent the Saber out over the gravely terrain of the desert. His target was the other kitty cat out there. Of course by reading the stats on it, it had stealth, but that really didn't concern Vince. He keeped a good eye on his radar and visually as he advanced at a decent pace. He didn't want the other cat to get too close to their ranged support. All the while he had to have his heads up for the incoming fire from the other team's Dark Horn. He proceeded with his course of action waiting to spot the kitty in the desert.

Silberner Falkestern - June 14, 2005 01:43 AM (GMT)
Hughes aimed his rifle at the Saber Tiger and then grinned.

"Bang."

Hughes fired and then searched for another target. Siren ran towards the Command Wolf and when she got close enough, tried to jump onto the Command Wolf and slash at the Dual 250mm Cannons. Silberner kept up her favorite technique of shooting in front of her and attempting to hit anything that moves. She then started her crazy laugh again. Hughes sighed.

"Silberner, what did I say about that laugh while I was sniping?!"

"Don't laugh while you're sniping or you won't let Chris repair my Zoid?"

Hughes nodded.

"Good girl. Why don't you stop?"

"Okay!"

((Edited post.))

Wizzla - June 14, 2005 05:05 AM (GMT)
Since Sil made a point of only shooting straight in front of her, the siblings simply moved out of her line of fire.

"Sera take care of the Helcat, I'll handle the Horn," Marc ordered as they closed the distance on their opponents. Luigi ran full speed a few meters to the right of Sil's Horn and, once he closed in to 200 meters, fired off one of the grenades and all four of the missiles from Missile Pod. Marc adjusted the Horn's speed so that he didn't run into his own bombardment and then followed the assault with a two second burst from the Gatling Unit and a few shots from the Linear Cannon.

Sera on the other hand charged at the cloaked Helcat, activating the boosters when possible and using the sensor readout from her brother's Zoid to find the Cat's position. The Dual 250mm Cannons of the Attack Unit pelted the smaller Zoid until the Wolf got into melee range. It then leapt into the air, using the boosters for a little extra, and landed on the panther's back. The Electron Fangs ignited and tore into the Helcat's fragile back armor along with the front strike claws.

Solaris - June 14, 2005 04:20 PM (GMT)
It seems all guns went for the Helcat, who was nowhere to be found. Only the Knights's radars could spot the kitty, and that gave a fuzzy indication of area. Not even their sonars -- I'm going to hurt Jules, by the way -- could spot the kitty. It charged towards the opposing Team.
The Command Wolf had the best idea of where the Helcat was, and went for it. Its Maser Cannons lanced out, glassing the sand but not striking the Helcat until the very last second. The two of them pounced. The Helcat, being the lighter and more agile one -- and the only one with a good idea as to where its foe was -- got the better end of the deal. It swiped at the Wolf, clawing the masers up a bit and taking off the antenna.
The Wolf was all but blind to the Helcat, now.
The two zoids landed almost where the other had begun. The Helcat landed lightly and silently on its paws, whereas the Wolf landed a good deal louder.
The Zaber Fang ran along, trying to spot the Helcat and assist the Command Wolf. Things were going fine, clear up until the Snipe Master pegged it with a big ol' gunshot. The blast shot clean through the Zaber's right shoulder, darn near taking it off.
And there are, of course, the two Red Horns. The Red Horns who simply charged one another, slagging each others' front ends. Marc got the better end of the stick, but that's really not saying much. Lesser zoids would have surely fallen under such assaults, but these two titans held on, albeit barely.

Silberner Falkestern - June 14, 2005 04:54 PM (GMT)
Hughes turned his aim from the Saber Tiger to the Redhorn that was trying to take down Silberner. He sighed and then shot at it.

"I may not like that girl, but she will be annoying if she gets taken out by another Redhorn pilot."

Silberner didn't seem to notice that Hughes shot at the other Redhorn and continued firing. She then grinned evilly as she raced towards the Redhorn at top speed, preparing to ram it. Siren glared at the Command Wolf as the small panther Zoid turned around.

"You're going down now."

Siren raced at the Command Wolf swiftly, pouncing on it as soon as she was close enough. The Helcat then proceeded to slash at it some more with its claws.

Wizzla - June 14, 2005 06:38 PM (GMT)
"So that's how you wanna play, huh?" Marc smirked devilishly, and brought Luigi up to full speed as well. He shot off another two second burst from the Gatling Unit and a few more shots from the Linear Cannon just to soften her up.

"Vince, help Sera out," he spoke calmly into the comm just before impact.

Sera turned and took off in an arc to the right, using the boosters when possible to get away from the damn Cat. Once she felt safely out of pouncing range she turned the Wolf around, using the radar blip coming from Marcus' Zoid to half way locate Siren and blast her with the 250mm Cannons.

((I'm taking over Vince because Chris is leaving for a week tonight, and i'd like to get this fight done today.))

Vince brings the Saber Tiger to a speed that won't destroy its damaged leg, and moves toward Sera's Wolf. Through the combined radar of the Tiger and Marcus' Horn, he had a vague idea of where he should start shooting. So he came to a stop and fired the 20mm Beam Guns, Laser Machine Gun, 3-barreled Shock Cannon, and the AZ30mm Beam Cannon at the sneaky sneaker Siren.

Solaris - June 14, 2005 08:11 PM (GMT)
The two Dark Horns charge each other at full gallop, unloading ridiculous amounts of energy into each other until they collided. Their horns met, sending a resounding crack across the battlefield and momentarily disrupting their flow of information. That crack hid the Snipe's second shot quite nicely. The bullet plowed through Marc's Red Horn, cracking through the armor on the flank and ripping through structure. The Horn faltered, and the other pushed it over. Bellowing its dominance while it gave a few victory gores, Silberner's Horn was clearly the victor in that little skirmish.
Doubtlessly, the pilots missed the Judgeman's announcement of "Rank Adjustments: Plus One Loss to Marc Gabriel. Plus One Victory to Hughes Rivera."
Unfortunately for the Helcat, the Knights were learning to gang up, too. Its pounce grazed the Command Wolf's hindquarters, and then the two gave chase. Vince closed in, firing his weaponry to try and hit the Helcat.
Sera turned around, her hindlegs skidding into place as she opened fire wildly. Only then did she realize that the Helcat had kept up, and pounced onto the Command Wolf. Vince was too eager, his fire spraying them both.
In the midst of this crossfire, the Helcat absorbed a fair amount of damage. The Command Wolf took in more. The Helcat used the Command Wolf's back for a springboard, knocking the Wolf down and inadvertantly sparing it a CSF at the hands of its own ally.
When Vince closed in, Siren realized something. Her stealth shield was flickering. This, in turn, gave the Saber Tiger a very, very good idea as to where her Helcat was.

Silberner Falkestern - June 14, 2005 08:26 PM (GMT)
"Hughes, Sil, I need some help here! My stealth's being stupid!"

Hughes changed his target from the Red Horn to the Saber Tiger. He aimed at the same right shoulder he already hit and fired.

"Silberner, would you please take down that crazy Saber Tiger? It seems like it wants to hurt your sister."

Silberner went in the direction of the other Zoids, guns firing while Hughes lined up a shot at the Command Wolf and fired. Siren ran a few meters away from the Wolf and Tiger before turning around and pulling a Silberner. She fired off every gun the little Helcat had at the Saber Tiger.

Wizzla - June 14, 2005 08:39 PM (GMT)
"Sonuvabitch!" Marc yelled and punched Luigi's control panel, the three words lit up were not his favorite.

Sera strafed after the Helcat in an attempt to dodge fire from both the Dark Horn and Snipe Master, she activated the boosters randomly hoping that might throw off a sniper's aim. The 250mm Cannons pelting the the Helcat as it gave chase.

Wizzla - June 14, 2005 08:56 PM (GMT)
Vince turned so that his damaged leg could not be hit (I know that's impossible), then took off toward Sil. The Tiger weaved around a bit, mostly to dodge Sil's fire, nothing to flashy. He then putthe guns to work again and fired the 20mm Beam Guns, Laser Machine Gun, 3-barreled Shock Cannon, and the AZ30mm Beam Cannon at the bastard Red Horn.

Solaris - June 14, 2005 09:23 PM (GMT)
The Command Wolf regained its feet whilst the battle raged around it. Taking advantage of the fact that nobody seemed to be wanting to shoot it, now, Sera lined up her sights on the flickering Helcat, letting it have the maser beams. She attempted a zigzagging run, but this really only served to kill her accuracy with the masers, resulting in a lot of glass and the occassional strike on the Helcat's armor.
The Saber Tiger, on the other hand, went at it with a gusto. He charged towards the Red Horn, intent upon avenging his teammate's defeat, guns a-blazing.
Suddenly, the sniper's rifle let out a silent bullet. The shot streaked across the field, too fast for even the zoids to track. It impacted, shattering armor and structure alike as it snapped the Saber Tiger's right foreleg off, leaving a mess of dangling wires and conduits, squirting the bright blue coolant fluid before automated sequences shut down the flow to that region. The Saber Tiger stumbled, then continued on its warpath.
Noticing the zoid charging it, Silberner's Red Horn opened fire. The Helcat joined in, almost like that third-grade bully who follows around the sixth-grade bully and picks on those the bigger bully has cowed. It stood in the Saber's path. The Saber didn't bother turning as it ran the littler cat over, arcing around a bit to angle more directly at the Horn.
The Helcat went rolling, trampled for a split second until the Tiger's feet let it be. Somewhat dazed, Siren picked her zoid up, only to discover the Wolf's barrels right there.
"Rank Adjustment: Plus one Victory for Sera Gabriel. Plus one Loss for Siren Fa-" It gave out a burst of static over the pilot's surname.
Seeing his ally go down, Hughes decided that their getting so close was a really, really bad idea. So he squeezed off a second round, pegging the Command Wolf in the Command Wolf, knocking that puppy over as the bullet tore into its already-weakened hindquarters.
"Rank Adjustment: Plus one Victory for Hughes Rivera. Plus one Loss for Sera Gabriel."
And now, the round ended with the Saber Tiger closing in on the Red Horn, and the Snipe Master bringing its guns to bear on the last surviving Knight of Oblivion.

Wizzla - June 14, 2005 09:50 PM (GMT)
The Saber Tiger let out a truly viscious roar and turned away from Red Horn, and the impending crash that would have occured if he had stayed on course. Vince sent the Tiger toward the Snipe Master as fast as its three-legged run could travel, every gun blazing at the damn sniper as he went. Once he got into melee range the Tiger pounced on the Snipe (thus using the sand dune it was hiding behind for cover from the Red Horn) and tore into its neck with the Laser Sabers.

Vardendell - June 14, 2005 10:04 PM (GMT)
((Hey I'm back sorry for taking so long, been busy. Thanx for RPing me while I was gone.))

Silberner Falkestern - June 14, 2005 10:34 PM (GMT)
Hughes aimed at the Tiger again before firing. Silberner seemed amused and chased after the Tiger at full speed while firing her guns at it. Hughes flipped out of Longshot Mode and ran to the left at full speed to get out of the Tiger's way.

Solaris - June 14, 2005 10:45 PM (GMT)
The Snipe Master hammered the Saber Tiger with one last shot before it broke and ran, forcing the Tiger to chase it for a bit. This provided the Red Horn with an excellent opportunity to spray its flank with fire. This, amazingly, did not quite take the Tiger down just yet.
It was the Horn sliding down the sand dune and crushing the Tiger and Snipe Master that did it.
"Rank Adjustment: Silberner Falkenstern -- Plus one Victory. Hughes Rivera -- Plus one Loss. Vincent Van Zent -- Plus one Victory. Vincent Van Zent -- Plus one Loss." The Judgeman threw down the colored paddle towards the Pointy Darkness Gustav. "Team Pointy Darkness is the victor!"
Damage readouts filtered from the zoids, and the ZBC watchers sent in the estimates for how much money they gained. Each pilot won eighteen hundred and sixty-six credits.
After that followed the repair estimates. Marcus's Red Horn, Sera's Command Wolf, Hughes's Snipe Master, Siren's Helcat, and Silberner's Red Horn all required heavy repairs, whereas the Saber Tiger required an overhaul.
