Title: What is the best creature in magic?
Description: What is the best creature in magic?

In your own opinion, what do you guys think the best creature in magic is?

I would probably go with...

Phantom Nishoba
- or -
Avatar of Hope

What do you guys look for in a good creature?

Crimson_King - July 24, 2004 10:52 PM (GMT)
That's disgusting man. Avatar of Hope is such a desperate measure card. Woe and Will are far better. |SIGH| Speaking of Avater of Woe, I would have to go for that as a very strong contender. In decks utilizing the Oddysey Block, it can't be beat. A lot of people say Visara is better, but i tend to disagree. Visara does not have the graveyard manipulation, for one thing, and it's a weaker legend. This entails that you can't have more than one Visara in play at one time. That's why the Avatar has it beat. Psychatog is definitely up there too.

And another thing, isn't this on the wrong forum altogether?

Ciel-Drax - July 25, 2004 02:11 AM (GMT)
Hmmmm ... personally i think Avatar of Woe is a good card but then again
If you take Avatar of Hope and enchant it with Unquestioned Authority its a creature that can block all your opponents creatures. Just think about it.

True indeed. But think about the fact that we're looking for the best creature in the Magic universe. A great creature should not have to be loaded down with enchantments and equipment, it should be able to rely on itself to cause problems for the opponent. Moreover, with the Authority enchanting it, you now have two permanents at risk. Unquestioned Authority is great, but what's to say your opponent isn't running Boomerangs or Naturalizes? Moreover, it's still not got pro-black, so a Terror or a Dark Banishing may just make you lose almost 11 mana (or 5) to something that costs 2 or 3.

When you find a creature with protection from all colours please tell me cause i havents heard of one...hmmm a creature that relies on itself...Darksteel Colossus seems to do that. 11/11 Trample thats cannot die.

Pristine angel... Protection from all colors AND Artifacts

Personally from my experience There is no one best creature card in magic. You gotta divide it into categories such as best Creature card in a specific color or in a specific tournament block.

For instance.. if ur talking about beatdown decks than of course your gonna be looking for a strong creature however in decks that need acceleration (elf and nail?) birds of paradise darksteel colosus and platitum angel are all very good creature cards.

But since it seems you guys are looking at best STRONG creature card i would say
B.F.M :)

Crimson_King - July 25, 2004 11:47 PM (GMT)
YES! B.F.M. Long live Unglued. lmao. Also, there's Irridescent Angel. Protection from all colours.

yes.. but iridescent angel requires 2 colors at least making it not a very good creature at all -.-

That's what I hate about block-related flavour cards. The multicolour/prismatic decks were really encouraged in Invasion, and it worked well there, but now it's pretty awful. Course, Fifth Dawn is kinda prismatic in flavour too, so maybe we will see more gold being played in type 1?

I realize that, but what I mean is modifications to mana pool and mana sources. Moreover, Prismatic is not played much in type 1, but there is a possibility that Dawn's Reflection, Fertile Ground (8th ed introduced it to newer players) and Joiner Adept, there are more ways of getting access to all five colours. Oh and nice spelling there. :P
