Title: NBA Lottery

Mattingly23 - May 21, 2008 12:02 AM (GMT)
Lets Go Knicks!

16% chance of obtaining the No. 1 or No. 2 overall picks (Derrick Rose or Michael Beasley).

7.6% chance at the No. 1 pick.

5th worst record this past season, so 5th most likely to win the lottery.

Worst case scenario is 8th overall pick.

I love how they are trying to make this like the NFL Draft. Stupidity. Just announce the damn draft order already.

Venom - May 21, 2008 12:15 AM (GMT)
Do we really need to have a meet and greet with every teams representative?! This is so stupid.

Mattingly23 - May 21, 2008 12:17 AM (GMT)
They've done the meet and greet from the get go, but the other extra stuff is a product of ESPN overdoing everything. When NBC had it at halftime of games back in the day, we always met the reps, but it was way quicker. They didn't interview everyone.

They didn't f*cking chit-chat for 15 minutes, this is stupid. Larry Bird stumbling over his own words, Mike D'Antoni making a fool of himself (what a cornball). Enough already.

Derrick Rose, from what I saw in the championship game, reminded me a little of Marbury. Definite talent, but I didn't see leadership. And he turned real pussy in overtime. Every time up court, he'd pass off to Douglas-Roberts. Kinda like how Marbury does (did) with Crawford in the fourth quarters. If the Knicks do get lucky, he's the obvious pick though. I just don't see him as a superstar floor general or pure point. During the college season I read that he's considered a combination of Jason Kidd and Dwyane Wade. Ha! ESPN just said he's a more dynamic Deron Williams. Nah.

I think Beasley's overrated, too. He's one of those college stars whose production and skills make him appear to be a better prospect than he is. I don't think he's got great athleticism, he isn't fluid and he's a SF/PF 'tweener.

But then I'm one who doesn't follow college basketball (and I f*cking hate March Madness) and it's just my untrained eye.

Yeah, I added to my post. Plus Doris Burke sucks.

Dammit, 6th pick!!!

Strider - May 21, 2008 12:20 AM (GMT)
:lmao:

They'll get Russell Westbrook.

Venom - May 21, 2008 12:20 AM (GMT)
Knicks get the 6th pick!! :-|

:puke: :puke: :puke:

Venom - May 21, 2008 12:26 AM (GMT)
The f*cking Bulls get the 1st pick, silly. They had like a 1% chance of getting #1!! How f*cking ridiculous!

Mattingly23 - May 21, 2008 12:26 AM (GMT)
What pisses me off is that Chicago just moved up from the 9th spot to win the lottery, but conspiracy theories only would have been in the mix if the Knicks had moved up from the 5th spot.

YanksFan03 must be jumping for joy. <_<

It's always that way with NY teams. I remember people screaming about the NHL lottery being fixed so that the Rangers would get Crosby. It was 100% guaranteed to happen. It was said so much I actually believed it! :annoyed:

I think Beasley goes first to the Bulls (although I see him more as a small forward and they've got Deng), but I think they'd be open for a trade. They'd want their balls sucked for it, but I don't see them being sure to keep it.

Rose should be the 2nd pick. And if someone trades up for him, Miami takes Beasley and moves Marion to PF. All things considered, I wouldn't be surprised if the Knicks went after a European (project) we willn't have heard of until draft night.

Venom - May 21, 2008 12:34 AM (GMT)
I don't want any European doofuses. Get me an athletic spook and call it a night.

The Italian dude is possible since D'Antoni spent so much time over there and has ties to the area.

There are several young, talented point guards coming out, so they could still pick one of them.

Isn't Marion a free agent? From what I remember at the time of the trade, there was talk he's going to be a 3-moth rental.

Mattingly23 - May 21, 2008 02:26 AM (GMT)
I think he has an opt out, but he supposedly loved Miami, as bad as they were.

Nope, I did like reading Matt23's suggestion that there are other forces at work here though. I'm sure the people in the NBA's front office got together and decided to come up with a way to screw the Knicks over.

Anyway, I don't care about this because one, all it means is my team was total sh*t this year which they weren't supposed to be, and two, I know the idiots will f*ck this up somehow. It's common knowledge that not winning the lottery is what helped the Celtics because it forced them to make some serious moves. The Bulls are going to draft one of these two guys, Beasley or Rose and he will likely suck complete ass. <_<

All that said, there are worse things then getting the first pick. They just have to hope whoever they draft isn't a complete disaster and from what little I've seen, neither of these guys is a sure thing.

And that's my positive post of the night.

Sori4Mvp - May 22, 2008 01:20 AM (GMT)
I remember when the Magic missed the playoffs by a game after Shaq's first year back in 92-93 and had like a 0.5% chance or something like that to win the lottery and they ended up getting the 1st pick by some miracle and drafted Chris Webber later to trade him to Golden State for Penny Hardaway.
