Hello y'all!
I'm not new to the site, but new to the boards and I absolutly adore this show! I'm a college student, currently struggling through my sophomore year and changing my major for the 3rd time. Sigh. My name is elfkey_echo - compilation of last name and nickname, although proper spelling not given. I'm a big, big fan of Wilson, therefore absolutly love the autopsy and reallyreallyreally want him to break up with his wife and be happy. Ummm.....that's all for now! Hope to see y'all around (and no, I'm not Southern. Minnesota, USA. Just like the word y'all :)

Howdy elfkey_echo! Glad you've found us and joined in! Love your avatar!

A Wilson fan eh? You need to get together with Sanlin. I loved Autopsy too as well as Histories. They certainly have made Wilson as much a mystery as House. Not that any of the others are an open book

I have heard that the writers and producers plan to do some character exploration this season. By now though we all know how that works. Answer one question, create thirty more!!

Have you been a RSL fan before this or just got into it with House?

So why do you think Wilson is unhappy with his third wife?

Sorry, I don't mean to attack right out of the box, just hungry for some conversation here!! The baseball layoff is rough on the board!

As you may have found in browsing through the board my title is 'Ruler of the Ficdom' , a fancy way of saying I'm the one with the keys to the writers chains!!!  ;)

No really, I love the fan fic and try to motivate folks into giving it a try, reading it, writing it, preferably both. So stop by the fic section on a chilly evening and settle in for a good read. I think we have the best writers around and a little something for everyone.

If you ever have a question or a problem, please feel free to contact me or any other mod. We're more than happy to help out.

Thanks and enjoy!

Hehehe! Not a problem. The baseball post-season is killing me too - thank goodness that the 1st season is out on DVD.
I've been a RSL fan for a while. I adore Dead Poet's Society and Much Ado About Nothing, and have also watched lesser knowns like Tape and Jet....and am very thrilled with the upcoming Glamorama!
That being said....Wilson has to be unhappy with his marriage. The fact that House keeps alluding to the other women he's 'dating' (lol) and in Babies and Bathwater where Wilson gets fired, there's a line where he says "I’ve got no kids, my marriage sucks; I’ve only got two things that work for me: this job and this stupid, screwed-up friendship.." He's always hanging out with House, and if you noticed in Honeymoon when House calls Wison to the bar, Wilson says that his wife will be furious..not that he is or will be furious. I think he needs someone new

Ooo, sorry, let me rephrase the question.

What is it in the marriage that is making Wilson unhappy? I mean he's gone through two wives already. Is it him or his choice in women or just his long hours as a doctor or the fact that he is in Oncology and maybe brings it home a little too much or what?

I just can't figure it out. I know he comes off as a bit of a player. House has said "You love all your wives. In fact you love all the women you've ever loved."

I don't know but that gives me the impressin he has a 'need to be loved' thing going on. Which is funny because it's the exact opposite end of the spectrum from House(coincidence, I think not!). He gets a woman, but keeps looking for that approval. When he finds a new woman, maybe he just gets that "Yeah but you don't love me as much as Betty" thing going on and wives generally don't like that! Just a little off the top thought on Wilson.

So back to your thoughts on why Wilson is unhappy in his marriage.

I don't know if it's a need to be loved so much as a need to escape. I mean, Oncology for heaven's sake. I'm not sure that I can think of a more depressing place. I would want something to come home and escape to, but that isn't happening for him. He needs somewhere to go, but can't find it. Maybe because his job is sooo difficult it's hard for him to leave it there. I really don't see him as much as a womanizer (blinded by my like of him, maybe... ;)), but perhaps. Maybe he has turned into a womanizer to fill that pain of seeing people die...some pleasure that he can't get elsewhere can be found with them. He really needs understanding and a safe place to go...and isn't finding it at home. Maybe this is why he and House are such good friends - opposites and Wilson found someone more screwed up in his love life then he is :D ...perhaps not. Any thoughts?

I don't really see him as a womanizer either but he's been through two wives and isn't happy with a third!!! I can't see that it's all their fault.

I guess with what I'm presuming he's not home much. He probably has long work hours and judging from the golf (and I think fishing I'll have to watch again) trophies in his office he spends a good deal of his off time away from home as well. Maybe he spends so muc htime away from home because he doesn't want to burden his wife with his work. Therefore he spends time alone, with sports, to think or not think about it, thus leaving the wife at home alone most of the time. Not much of a marriage if you ask me.

Maybe they all assume he's cheating. He does seem to be a bit of a flirt.

 Good call there, I never thought about that! Might ease his soul a bit to think that, as bad as he gets at least he's not as bad as House! I wouldn't think it would be a conscious thing but maybe subconciously he seeks that out with House.

Oh I completly agree! It's not the wives...although maybe he does just have poor choice in women...which I don't see either. He's too kind and caring - has to be to be such a good friend to House. He's got a real compassionate side also to work in Oncology. The question is, why can't he keep that side out in his home life? :( I don't know.

This is very true. But even so, it's a marriage! I can see him trying to make it work, but maybe unsure as to how to care for a wife and also leave the job at home.

Cheating, no way. I can't see him as someone to cheat on a wife even if the marriage is completly awful. I can see him thinking about it, and fliting...but never actually cheating. (blinded by like? Nah  :D

Hmmm - guess we'll have to wait and see.
