Title: Little Cut
Description: Hugely short fic

Benj - August 30, 2005 12:52 AM (GMT)
This maybe/just/nearly qualifies as longer than a poem (ish). Not sure if it's okay here -so please feel free to delete/move. First ever finished fic-lite.

Title: Little Cut

Pairing: House/Wilson

Warning: It's short. Could be slash- so it may offend you if don't like the concept but content wise it's suitable for all.

Disclaimers: Not long enough to worry about but the usual not mine.

House pushed through the pile of unopened mail on his desk. Following a pace behind, Wilson flopped into the chair opposite. House found his iPod under a parcel and dropped it into the docking station.

“Seriously, man, you need to open some of this,” Wilson sighed.

House ignored him and continued flicking through tracks on the iPod.

“Could be anything. Tickets for a Floyd reunion or front row season ticket for Spearmint Rhino’s.” Wilson suggested, “ You’d never know.”

House shrugged.

“If it bothers you open it.” House settled on a track and eased back into his chair.

“Fine.” Wilson picked up an envelope.

“Ow!” Wilson cursed, squeezing his finger as blood seeped from the paper cut. Reaching for the box of Kleenex from the bookstand, he dabbed it carefully. House put down the iPod and reached across the desk. Pulling Wilson’s hand toward him, House leaned over the desk and studied the finger shrouded in tissue.

“What are you doing?” Wilson protested, confusion passing across his face as House continued to stare at his finger.

House lifted Wilson’s hand to his mouth and kissed the tissued finger gently before he let go. Looking up at Wilson he smiled,

“Something you do for me all the time.”

Wow, Benj! How did you make that really hot and really sweet in one fell swoop?! The last line clinches it. (And congrats for finishing a fic! Something I've still not managed to do.) Nice job all around. :)

Cheers!

Very nice! Refreshing! I love it. I'd say it almost qualifies as a plot bunny but I can't think of anything to add to it that would make it better. Somtimes short and simple really is the best way to go.

And yes, congratulations on finishing a fic! How does it feel?

Spearmint Rhino's? Am I really that out of touch or what?!

Glad you guys enjoyed it and the feedback is much appreciated :). I was fairly nervous about it as they are too cool to screw up . Thought it and wrote it inside fifteen minutes then posted it- completion felt nice even if this barely qualifies and I was pelased I resisted messing or checking it.

Only slight problem was that my assumption that Spearmint Rhino's existed in the US. Sorry. It's a chain of 'gentlemen clubs' in England- supposed to be nearly classy but basically they just are strip joints aimed at people with extra cash to burn. My stag night (not my own) experiences lead me to believe that is not entirely the case but I did think they were American, a MacDonalds for the other appetite but I have discovered since they are just here. But I'll leave it because hopefully it doesn't jar too much.

Cheers

Bnej

I had read a book called 'Saturday' by Ian Mceown (I think that's how you spell it) and it mentioned some guys running out of 'Spearmint Rhino' . I thought it was like a bar so when you mentioned that I thought it was kind of a weird connection. I couldn't understand why you'd need a front row season ticket to a bar.

I can see where that might be an appealing thing to House. Oh yeah, leave it in, I just think too much!

McDonalds for a different appetite! LOL! Love it Benj! I'm going to have to use that somtime, somewhere!

Ok, now I'm revealing how behind I am in reading fic by posting this response so late. doh. Sorry Benj.

Thanks for sharing your idea Benj. My heart "cinched" at the end of this piece - just a lovely moment that speaks volumes about their friendship.

rtl - which book by Ian McEwan (assuming that's who you meant, did you read?) I listened to "Atonement" on tape last year and loved it loved it loved it.

Yeah, that's the guy. Knew the name, didn't remember the spelling!

It was I guess his newer one 'Saturday'. Very interesting book. I think I need to reread it. It was one of those books that I read and at the end I was pretty neutral about it but the more I thought about it, the more I liked it.

He has a very interesting pace. I don't know if his other books are like that (considering that this book just covered one Saturday) or if it was just this book. I defintely would like to read some of his other stuff. I had heard that 'Atonement' was a good one. I'll put it on the list at your recommendation! :D

I started "Saturday" a while back and had a hard time getting into it so I set it aside, but I do want to get back to it because I respect him so much as a writer that I'm pretty sure the 'fault' is mine and not his. He's worthy to be read so I'm going to give it another whirl. I like what you said about the book - how it was so-so when you read but that it grew on you after - that, to me, is the sign of a good book. I just ordered "Lennon Revealed," a new Lennon bio to read over the Thanksgiving holidays so that'll push the McEwan redux into the Christmas holidays. Good times.

p.s. Let me know what you think of "Atonement" if/when you get around to it.

Pradon- Cheers for the feedback :) they are too awesome and I couldn't resist.

'Atonement' sounds an interesting prospect and I will have a hunt for the audio track.

I once produced segments for a current-affairs show. Certain stories used to get enormous viewer reaction. Their hearts would open, they would write to the show and ratings would soar. The host, a celebrity journalist with no wish to appear sentimental, had a special name for those stories...

He called them 'womb-tinglers' ... Benj you have written a 'womb tingler' WOW.
