Title: *heavily* edited beginning.
TelegramSam - March 9, 2005 12:53 PM (GMT)
Am I the only one who noticed the fact that the opening scene of Occam's was chopped up and they changed the music last night?
Oh and the disclaimer beforehand was hilarious too.
I mean, come *on* people, it's not a kiddy show, and shouldn't your 5 year old be in bed by 9?
Peuh. <_<

I noticed it. They must have chopped 10 seconds of it, and added the loud music. I was laughing about all the changes, and my friends watching with me (who hadn't seen the episode before) were wondering what my problem was. <_<
Honestly, with it edited that much, they didn't really need the parental warning.

I think there were other changes too.
The scene between Wilson and House in House's office where Wilson says somthing like "he won't go home feeling like crap" and House says something like "I don't want him going home."
I know I've heard that exchange before and I'm sure it was in front of the elevators. I'm going to go browse the Transcripts and see if I can find the other episode that was in.
There were other things that were change too I think. I didn't have this one on tape so this is my first rewatch but I still think they added stuff, maybe removed things too I don't remember that well.

I dunno, I quit watching after about 5 minutes because I figure I've got it on my hard drive and better quality than the fuzzy tv screen anyhow. :P

I find it kind of funny that FOX went back to edit anything at all. It's a network that's not exactly known for their discretion. And as for the parental warning, it doesn't take much for any show, on any network, to be slapped with one of those things. People are so hypersensitive about what's on television nowadays.

I laughed out loud during that opening "sex" scene. If I hadn't seen it before I don't think I would've known just what the hell they were doing. Looking for a lost coin on/under/around the bed? geesh. Why put up the disclaimer if you're going to edit the heck out of it anyway? Too funny. If the actor in that scene was watching last night he was probably thinking to himself "now I'll never get laid again."
I liked this episode even more than before - still not sure why. So many good House/Wilson moments, and the Cameron/Chase tease is fantastic. I love watching her push his buttons. House telling the parents that he doesn't care if their kid lives still makes me gasp out loud. Bastard! But I adore the look of vindication on House's face at the end of the episode.
rtl - not sure about that H/W scene, I do think it was in House's office, but let me know what you find. BTW - have you had a chance to double-check the "Cursed" ep for that poster? Let me know what you think.
Cheers,

I think the House/Wilson scene was unchanged and it was just the opening scene that was edited. I'm kind of glad they toned it down, but once they did I thought the gigundo warning was overkill -- a "parental discretion advised" warning would have been plenty.

I looked over the transcripts and couldn't find it. I'm beginning to think I just have an overactive imagination. I guess I'll have to spend the night in front of the TV watching House until I find it. Darn!
I'll take a look tonight and let you know about that scene in Cursed. I think it might have been in DNR too, not sure.

What disclaimer/ parental warning thingy is everyone talking about?!? There was no warning for me... The show just starts and the little tiny box in the top corner says its rated PG. Hehe only PG on my tv....
And here i was expecting some horribly nasty sex stuff seeing as i missed most of the episode last time it was on...DARN YOU EDITING  just kidding...
Mad_Zebra - March 10, 2005 03:02 AM (GMT)
Only PG? weird... I had TV-14 with D, L and S. On Detox it had L,S, and V. Im not really sure that there is much of a difference between dialogue and language but whatever. And yes I agree the editing was rather odd, but an edited House is better than no House at all, even if it is a repeat. ^_^

So much for your "V-Chip" I am not surpised at the actions of Fox. Look at all the sex scenes in "The O.C." and they're worried about 10 seconds in House. Go figure! <_<

I couldn't get a good look at it but I'm not sure it's a movie poster. It looks highly likely that it is but I wouldn't swear to it. Some concert posters from days gone by have that movie poster look and since House is into music it could be that. I'm gonna have to put it on my VCR so I can go frame by frame. The one downstairs I can only pause it and it's kind of blurry so...
I'll let you know if I make any progress!
