Okay... so say you had some savings and you're about to quit your job.
You have a friend who is willing to go to Nepal and trek with you for 2 weeks (something you've been dying to do, but didn't want to do alone). You've never been to Asia, but you want to go... albeit you kind of put it off because you were a little nervous about doing it by yourself. But since you're going to be in Nepal... Asia is right there... and another good friend has recommended that you start in Thailand- which is very traveler/Western friendly and has lots of good food.
Now... said Nepal friend actually lives in Europe and wants you to meet him there and then travel to kathmandu together. Since you will be quitting your job in March, you will have the entire month of April to go around Europe (of which you've already been to parts). But you have not been to mainland Spain and the only part of Paris you've seen is the airport. However, Europe is more expensive than Asia.
Choice 1: Fly to Thailand and travel SE Asia for a month before heading to Nepal and then possibly back to India then home.
Choice 2: Fly to Europe, travel to France, Spain and potentially drop by my old German stomping grounds before flying to Nepal with friend.
The flights (either way) are about the same price. Opinions?
I'd choose choice 1 if it were me, but since you have money saved up, maybe go to Europe, but Asia I don't know I'd rather go to. Although their's less of a language barrier in Europe as majority of the people speaks English at least a little. When I was in Finland, I was talking to my mom's friend who went to China and she went into a restaurant, and everyone in Finland knows, Finnish, Swedish, and English fluently. The people in the restaurant only spoke Chinese and Russian I believe, not totally sure but went to a part of China that borders Russia, so they probably knew Russian for Russian Tourists. She was shocked in she found out that they didn't know English. I don't if it was only this one place she had trouble with it, or other places as well. Language Barrier's suck, and you can't possibly learn a language that fast unless you're a genius--I don't know you might be. They'll probably somewhat of a language barrier anywhere you go. So I don't know what you should do.
